Which laptop is best for my twelve year old daughter?

My daughter wants a Mac laptop. She is just going to use it for shopping and writing the occassional paper on it. I don't want to purchase any unnecesary features. Which one would work best? She isn't going to watch anything more indepth than youtube videos, so I don't think she needs the retina display and she wants a 13 inch screen, so she can easily take it with her.

Easy answer,      the base model Macbook Air I5 with 4gig of RAM
$1099

I've tried looking at my own itunes account but I cannot seem to find the allowance account, it says I currently have zero allowance accounts.
All I want to do is change the assigned email address.

Who is the email provider? Not all accounts can be set up as POP3

  • What do you think about the iPhone 4 for my 11 year old daughter

What do you think about the iPhone 4 for my 11 year old daughter

It should be a good choice. I recently got the 5C which typically is $99 with supported carriers. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint provide attractive pricing with a two year contract or it you are adding a line to your current service. I have several friends using the 4S, and they have been very pleased with them.

  • Which laptop is best for me?

I will be doing 'normal' stuff with it when I get it.
I'll probably be doing some photo editing, but it will mainly be for school.
Would the MacBook be better or the MacBook Pro. Please don't answer by stating if I have the $$ go for the pro.
I just want to know which would be better for the 'average' user

I really hate to bring up something that you specifically asked us not to bring up... +*Please don't answer by stating if I have the $$ go for the pro.*+
The MacBook is a great machine for general use. However, if you are going to be using it for school, are you taking into consideration they types of things you may need it for in a year or two from now? If you don't expect your needs to change, then you should be fine with the MacBook. If you think you might move from photo editing into video editing or other 3D type applications, you might find the Pro to be a better choice. It's important to consider what your uses will be during the lifetime of the notebook... not just today. If you find a year from now that the MacBook won't cut it... and you have to get something more powerful, it ends up costing you more in the long run. I'm not saying the MacBook won't suit your needs... just that you should be sure (or have a reasonable estimate) of what your needs may be a year or two from now.

  • I want to set up an apple id for my 6 year old but i aint got a credit card

i want to set up family sharing and create an apple id for my 6 year old daughter,it says i need a credit card to do it, but i aint got one, only a debit card which ive used for years on my apple id.what can i do? really think that the family sharing route is best but what can i do if i havent got a credit card.please help
    Thank you

Try getting a credit card from the same people who issued the debit card. If I read the home sharing paper properly after your set it up with the credit card you can change the payment method back to debit.

  • HT2731 how do i set up an i tunes account for my 11 year old?

I am trying to set an iTunes account up for my 11 year old daughter, and I get as far as entering her birth year, but then when I enter 2001 and click next I get a dialogue box telling me that this doesn't meet the Apple age restrictions. I've tried putting 1990 in as well and get the same result. Very, very frustrating!!!!

You need to be at least 13 years or older to set up an iTunes account.

  • Which macbook is best for automobile student?

I am taking automobile engineering course & I need a laptop.. Please give me a right suggestion!
Which macbook is best for automobile student?

Any of the new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro models will do.  Check their features at Apple.com > Mac.  The Air and Pro models are now very close to each other with the Air a little less expensive and a little lighter (3 vs. 3.5 lbs.).  I would purchase 8 GB of RAM no matter which machine you buy.
The question is how much permanent (SSD) storage do you need?  128 GB, 256 GB, more?  You need to decide this up front and you cannot increase it once it is delivered so choose carefully.  How much storage do you use on a current Mac or PC?  How much additional storage do you plan to use?
If you undersize the SSD storage all is not lost.  You can offload seldom-used data onto an external hard drive.  However it is easier to manage the storage if it all fits on your system drive.
Also check out refurbished Macs at http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals.  These come with the standard Apple one year warranty.

  • Which browser is best for macbook pro?

Which browser is best for macbook pro.
I have used Safari for a couple of years but have been told recently that I would be better switching to Chrome

The best browser for you depends on your specific needs; as you can install multiple browsers without them interfering with each other, download Firefox, Chrome, and any others you'd like to try out, and pick the one which works best for you.

  • Which laptop is best?

Have started to shoot with a Canon 7D and now needs a good laptop. Which Macbook is best for video editing in HD? Must have a laptop because I travel a lot. Also want to use Final Cut Studio. This whole Mac bite is new to me ... used the PC before.

Well, for starters, you're going to be transcoding all the files that come out of your 7D to ProRes, which means you'll need a beefy external drive, which means you'll want a FireWire 800 port, which automatically disqualifies the regular Macbook. To decide which Macbook Pro you want, I'd use this chart:
    http://store.apple.com/us/tab?node=home/shopmac/family/macbook_pro&tcid=tgtabcontroller&tab=2
...and weigh your own needs against it. All of them will run FCP. If you're interested in Color and Motion as well, the lowest end 13" model may not be the best choice.

  • Which laptop to get for these needs...

    Hi all,
I'm aware that there are many posts on which laptop is best suited for Logic, or which will work with Logic, etc, but I thought posting my own may get me better results, as the comments will be directly related to my needs, which I'll set out below:
    * Currently away from home/main system due to work, and probably won't be able to use it for another 6 months at least.
    * Current laptop (2006 MacBook) is beginning to bail on me, and many Logic projects are freezing up.
    * I don't require a massive spec laptop, as a) I will hopefully eventually get my main machine down with me, so the new laptop will not always be my primary machine. Furthermore when I am reunited with main machine, the laptop will become an 'on the road' machine for projects etc.
That gives you an idea. The model I was thinking of getting was the 13" 2.7 MacBook Pro. I've been told that Logic will run on this pretty well (much better than my current laptop anyway), when using a fair few heavy plugins (Waves stuff), and also using Kontakt w/ fair amounts of instruments.
Question is, while the lower end 15" will obviously be faster, I don't really need the bigger screen, and I don't want to unnecessarily buy a machine that I'll never use to its full potential, hense why I'm verging towards the higher spec 13".
Obviously this totally depends on exactly what projects I am using, so it's probably quite hard for anyone to advise, but has anyone had experience using Logic w/ the new 13"? And not just for small projects, but for slightly larger ones too?
    Many thanks!

For anyone thinking along similar lines, I went for the 13" 2.7GHz i7 and it runs like a dream for all mentioned tasks above. Great stuff!

I have an iPod Touch which I've had for almost 4 years, with 32 GB of memory. I am unable to update it, and consequently cannot install any newer apps. I am very disappointed that I spent a lot of $$; now Apple wants me to spend $$ again to get a new one. As I mentioned, I am pretty upset. Does anyone know if there's a work around?

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
