Which LCD display for better colors?

I know most of you would prefer a CRT monitor for better colors but what are the options if i choose an LCD/TFT display? I tried and returned two LCD monitors in past and i don't want to waste more time and money. I heard Eizo ColorEdge series have good colors but they are way expensive. any ideas?

Nevermind... After some research, I bought two Dell Ultrsharp 2209WA monitors. These are e-IPS pannels and are far better in colors and viewing angles compared to the ordinary TN pannels. IPS pannels are expensive but worth every penny ...

  • LCD display for Hardware Monitor?

    Hardware Monitor...

...supports certain external, USB-based LCD displays for providing system status. Is anyone using one?
Can anyone recommend a nice, already-assembled unit to set on the desk here? Thanks.

Sadly none of the above unit will work w/ Hardware Monitor.
I just received this email from the author after inquiring about the above displays compatibility w/ Hardware Monitor:
Unfortunately, these vendors are completely unknown in Europe and
they only offer drivers for Windows, so no support for these modules
    is possible so far.
If not, is there a ready-made, external (already in a little
    enclosure) unit that does?
No, I am currently not aware of any ready-made units. Unfortunately
the market for these devices seems to be so small that no worldwide
vendor has established an industry standard yet, or could provide
an open software layer for Mac OS X. When such a solution exists, we
will immediately support it in Hardware Monitor.
For more information about LCD unit support please see the chapter

  • LCD display for graphic designer/photographer

My Mac Pro two 2.26 GHz Quad Core should arrive in a couple of days. I'm now in the process of choosing a 22"-24" LCD display monitor. As I am not attracted to the Apple 24" display's glossy surface, I've narrowed display choices down to these:
    1) EIZO CG222W 22.2" Widescreen LCD
    2) NEC MultiSync 2490WUXi 24.1" Widescreen LCD
Anyone using or know anything about either of these? I understand they are popular with graphic artists and photographers, but I am particularly interested in learning of any compatibility issues with the early 2009 Mac Pro/OS 10.5.6. NEC's support website notes possible compatibility issue between its 2490WUXi SpectraView II calibration software and OS 10.5.6.
If I chose the NEC model, could I use another calibration software/colorimeter with it instead? If not, then I would just go with the EIZO.

just got my two 26" NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi2 and hooked them up to a new nehalem mac pro with a radeon 4870. the monitors work perfectly. all i can say is wow. the color accuracy out of the box is great. the brightness uniformity is incredible. the blacks are really black and the whites are perfectly white. i've owned two 23" apple cinema displays and two 24" led cinema displays in the past, and these NECs look much better. very professional.
i do have two gripes with the 26" NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi2. its cased in some sort of plastic. the base is made from the same material. i'd rather have an aluminum casing and base like apple provides. the other grip is that there is a lot of flex where the actual panel attaches to the base. its a bit wobbly. this i don't like at all. they could have done something better with this. otherwise no other problems to report.
but all in all, the image on the screen is so good, that i won't complain anymore from this day forward. an absolutely stunning image on these screens. love em'!!

  • LCD Displays for T20, T21, and T23

Have three T20 and T21 laptops with bad mother boards and good LCD displays.  Have two T23 laptops with good motherboards and blank LCD displays (but work great with an external monitor).
Can T20 and T21 LCD displays be removed and installed and operate on a T23?
    Thanks!

    Yes they are swappable.
Just make sure that resolutions match, namely, if you're installing a XGA screen from a T20 into a T23 which had a SXGA+ LCD (not all of them do, run the model numbers on Lenovo's site) you'll have to use the appropriate LCD cable and inverter.
    Good luck.

  • What is best way to get LCD display for Mac mini?

Just got Mac Mini but when I connect it to my Samsung LCD the display quality is crap.  What is the best way to get HD resolution, (maximum quality) from this set up?

    Thanks,
I did try all of the settings on the LCD display.  It is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.  Built in 2011 by Samsung as a HD TV, computer monitor and audio/video combo.  I just let the Mac mini select the appropriate settings when I did initial startup last night.  I It came with an HDMI to DVI adapter which (to me) implies I need to get the male end of the DVI adapter to connect to the 9 pin (PC input).  Current HDMI is working but just not the "wow factor" that I expected from the Mac mini.  Compatibiltiy issue of some kind; input/output, settings, software update, or user error   Was trying to avoid getting a new monitor.

  • Which LCD cable for Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (Series: 2959)

    Hi!
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S12 for three years now... and I am generally really happy with it
Since a few weeks, however, my display is not working properly anymore. Depending on the angle, certain colors change their appearance (white colours flicker blue-ish and dark colors show red-ish flickers). I have already stopped by a Laptop repair shop and the guy said that I need a new LCD cable and the hardware should be ok.
Does anybody know which exact cable I need? I have found three different cables on offer:
    50.4CI11.001
    50.4CI11.002
    50.4CI12.001
Is it possible to say only with my series number (2959) which of the three I need?

  • Which LCD screen for design would you recommend?

    Hello,
Now that my 22" CRT screen is slowly dying on me, it is time to find a replacement within my max 800 EURO budget. CRT are unfortunately barely available anymore and those few come at premium prices. So a LCD screen...
As a professional multimedia designer I value IQ and decent color reproduction/depth, and I would use the screen for (web)design, photo editing, illustration, some animation and occasionaly design for print, apart from playing sometimes dvds, webbrowsing and very rarely a game.
    b Question #1:
I haven't decided yet if I should go for one 24" screen or go for a dual screen setup of 2x 21/22" (or perhaps 22" and 19", since the secondary screen is mainly used for Adobe panels).
What is your experience and opinion about this?
    b Question #2:
Now I know that for the best color reproduction I should opt for a 24" S-IPS panel. And would I live in the USA I would have likely chosen the much praised NEC2490WUX.
However, I live in Europe and there this NEC 2490 is not for sale.
Even worse, at 24" size there are almost no S-IPS screens at all on the market and certainly not within my 800 EURO budget.
"So why not focuss on finding a good 22" S-IPS screen", I hear you cry... well, they don't exist either. Most 22" panels are TN, an occasional one VA. I could find some 20" S-IPS screens, but at huge cost (around 600 EUR). So that doesn't seem to be a good choice.
Alas, I have to focuss on finding the best M/PVA screen 'for (web)design, photo editing, illustration, some animation and occasionaly design for print, apart from playing sometimes dvds, webbrowsing and very rarely a game', and preferably one at a good price/quality ratio. And therefore dealing with issues as gamma and colorshift which are apparantly inherent to this type of panel.
So my question to you is... do you have experience with a M/PVA LCD screen that you would advice me (or not ofcourse). I have been shortlisting the Eizo S2431 (based on a PRAD.de review), the NEC2470WVN... but both are fairly expensive screens (though within budget) and I cannot really judge if either one of these VA screens is worth the extra money and useful for my needs.
Thank you for reading and any input you may have!

Eizo displays are well regarded for color accuracy. I am not familiar with their entire range, but you should check that the response time of the LCD on any panel you buy is fast enough to show video and animation without ghosting. That was not an issue with CRT monitors, but LCD technology is still catching up on response time with some of the panels available.

  • R400: Which LCDs/displays are compatible?

After years of good service, my think pad has a cracked LCD panel. Since the laptop is fine otherwise and I am quite content with it, I would like to replace the panel.
    The computer is a R400 7439 CT0, the display in question is a  14.1'' WXGA+ LED backlight, model LG LP141WP2 (TL)(B1), lenovo FRU 42T0498.
The problem is that this particular model seems to be hard to come by: I only found fantasy prices on ebay etc (800€!) that would be more expansive than a whole new computer, and most stores do not even offer this one.
What other options do i have? Are there compatible panels, and if so, which? I did do some research on the forums but I am still a bit befuddled about the technical details. More specifically:
    - CCFL backlight would be easy and cheap to get, but from what I read I probably need to stick with LED backlight, right?
    - Can I "downgrade" to WXGA without problems? Would that require any additional parts (cable, inverter etc)? I did find a FRU 27R2412 or FRU 42T0701 that seem to fit the (some?) 7439 CTOs..
    Thank you so much!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Just for the record:
The new panel works fine now, but I also needed a different LCD cable (93P4593) AND sub card (FRU 42W8231).
    Was still worth it though.

  • What's a good LCD display for graphics arts and print production needs?

    Hi all,
It's true that the good ol CRT displays in the past were the best. They have the Trinitron tube and had clearity. I'm looking to purchase an LCD monitor that'll come close to a Sony CRT monitor and can handle my graphics art projects. Any thoughts and direction is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Web dude

CRTs are dead. Please just let them die...
Funny you should say that. I just bought a brand new Philips 22" CRT (for AU$260). I decided to take that path for another few years after looking at the Cinema displays (23" and 30") and noticing severe discolouration at shallow viewing angles (like when you sit closely in front of the monitor to compare three photos side-by-side). Interestingly, the 24" iMac screen doesn't have this problem.
I can't afford or justify the exquisite Eizo LCD screens, so I got the CRT (the best Philips ever made) and couldn't be happier. I've got plenty of space on my corner desk, btw.
    Cheers
    Steffen.

  • Spare parts - LCD display for HP OMNI27

    Hi,
2 years ago I bought a HP Omni 27-1000eb, about 3 months ago I noticed some troubles with the 27" display (non touch).
It starts buzzing (comes out of the bottom of the screen) and then shuts down while the PC continues functioning normally.
I have to (hard)restart the pc to use the display again otherwise I will never get the screen up and running again. It seems like the display fails to stay on, or maybe a malfunction.
Display drivers and graphic drivers ok.
Does someone know about this problem?
Should I replace the display? if yes...where can I find such a sparepart.
    regards

  • How can we change the  color of the image for product display for different

    Hi All,
How can we change the  color of the image for product display for different colors, to be displayed on site.
    jeff

    Hi priya,
The requirement that you have stated is not a standard feature in ISA CRM. In order to do the same, you will need to modify the standard ISA code in Java. A common path for the solution would be as follows:
    1. Colours
        a. Maintain a text type for Color under the object - PCAT_ITM in Customizing.
        b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search within your new text type as well. (In standard it only searches in Description.
       c. Maintain all shirts colour data in the new type created in step a.
       d. Your requirement will be done!
    2. Price
      a. Use list prices for your shop and assign the appropriate condition type, acces in your catalog.
      b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search on the list prices as well.
      c. This too will be done!
    3. Accessories - This is very tricky, and will require some exploration. However, here's my opinion,
    a. Search for the standard function module, which will return the accessories when provided the product as an input.
    b. Modify this function module according to your requirement and ensure that it can be accessed remotely.
    c. Modify the JSP as in steps 1b and 2b above to call this new remote-enabled function module.
    d. Now you're done!!
The ISA modification part is not so simple, you need a really good guy like "Sateesh Chandra" who'll be able to handle your requirements. This is all I could manage, hope it is some help to you!
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nelson.

  • LED display has blue cast compared to 23" LCD display

Just purchased the 27" LED Cinema display. It is side by side with my 23" LCD display. The colors are dramatically different. Is there some way to calibrate the new 27" monitor so that it has the same appearance as the 23" LCD or is the technology so different that they will never really look similar? I have a Mac Pro 2 X 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon.
    thanks
    russ

Yes, they do frequently have blue tints which cannot be calibrated out. I had to return two of them because of the problem and eventually just got my money refunded. I was told that Apple Engineering had no fix other than to suggest using a professional calibrator system which would almost certainly have done no good. I'd suggest you return the Thunderbolt display for refund and buy a different brand  or wait until Apple releases a new generation of displays, whenever that happens.
    Regards.

  • One 30" or Two 24" Displays for Logic 9?

Hi, would it be preferable to have one 30", or two 24", LCD displays for Logic 9 use specifically?
The views, or windows (not sure what Logic calls them) will be mainly for audio/midi tracking, audio/midi editing, VI tracking and mixing of rock music. I may occasionally also need to tweak an effects plugin during mixdown.
I understand Logic can take advantage of dual displays. Can it have the "track" window on one display and the "mixer" window on the 2nd display?
    Thanks for your advice!

Yeah - I'd have 2 x 24" over 1 x 30" anyday (24" is pretty big anyway). As SC said, you can have your mixer etc on the other one and you can permanently see what's going on. Also you can send movies to the other screen which is great if you score to picture. Definitely take time to set up screensets, it'll speed up your workflow massively.
I've just set this up myself and I'm very pleased with it apart from the fact that at the moment, I open a plugin from the mixer and it opens in the other screen. Not sure why it's doing that but I'm sure there'll be a workaround (any ideas sampleconstruct?).
    Anyway, go for it.

  • Display Showing Negative Colors From Mini?

I helped my mom buy a Mini a few years ago... 1.25 GHz PPC G4. Anyway, she has started to have LCD display issues where colors are reversed like photo negatives, such as she describes that the screen is mostly orange, icons are black, and email windows are black with white lettering.
She did not run any software updates, move the Mini, unhook the LCD, etc. After this started, I did have her hook up to another LCD she has and it looks the same there. I don't know much about the internals of a Mini, but can I assume the video card is toast?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

have her press control option command 8, it's an universal access feature.
