Which lion version is installed with internet recovery?

Would very much like to know which version of lion will be on my system when I perform the Lion internet recovery. I assume it downloads the latest build so I do not need to update Lion again. I also assume that there will be no difference in Lion version when I perform an erase and install or just an install over the existing installation.

AMPiper wrote:
I just reinstalled Lion yesterday because my Recovery HD wasn't there. 10.7.3 was what was downloaded and installed.
I downloaded about 2 days agao and got the 10.7.2 version. so it now looks like Apple has updated to the .3 version.
I'm glad I have USB thumb drives of the .2 version cause .3 didn't do anything for me except slow down my Mac.

2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033 (both on the mac/windows partitions (actually using a parallel to run Windows)), error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Windows
So the question is am I doing something wrong? Should I just try and install windows 8 through my windows 7 partition and see if I can use the bootcamp 5.05033. Or do I solely have to use the bootcamp to install Windows 8? I'm not too familiar with bootcamp and how it runs.

if you're using parallels and full bootcamp then you're making it 100% more troublesome for youself then it needs to be
bootcamp is running windows directly on the hardware this give full memory and cpu and 3d video game power
running windows in parallels is running a virtual machine where one can't run powerful games and the like but one can have it in a window and change fast between osx and windows
parallels as the only virutal machine (as far as I know) support not have the operating system as a file on the osx harddisk but can access a bootcamp parition as virtual machine but without the benefits bootcamps provides
it's a service parallels provide for those who want both to play games in normal bootcamp and sometimes use windows in a virutal machine
just install it like a normal virtual machine and you need not worry about bootcamp drivers and the likes
plus it would mean that the windows part would be a part of the timemachine bacup of osx
which it is not when it's in bootcamp

  • Which OSX version works best with Logic Pro 7.2

    Hello everyone,
Was hoping i could get some opinions on which osx version works best with logic 7.2
i currently have OSX 10.4.2 but i would like to update at least to 10.4.3 (that is least required to run logic as stated in install manual)...
    should i go for 10.4.4, 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 ?
which would run best with logic pro 7.2?
    thanks much everyone

    Quad G5 2.5ghz 3GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

10.4.5 was rock solid for me, and three days into heavy Logic use at 10.4.6 is proving to be just as good.
Get caught up, and go ahead and update to 10.4.6

  • How did i know the version of Jiniator with Internet Explorer

    Hello,
I want to know if a version of Jinitiator is installed with a dynamic page executed with Internet Explorer.
I want a page to help users for install a new version of Jinitiator
    Regards

No you're question wasn't to vague, I was able to get the basic idea of what you were asking.
As for an automatic way to convert bat scripts to shell scripts, I won;t say there isn't something out there, out there is a big place, but I doubt it. As I wrote the differences between the systems make a direct conversion difficult.
On OS X you have two choices for scripting, shell scripts and Applescripts. Shell scripts are your basic Unix command files, are created in a text editor and run from the Terminal command line.
Applescripts are created with the Applescript editor, have a tighter link with OS X, and are run from the GUI.
(all of that is very basic and there are exceptions to what I wrote but that is the intro version)
If you have a script from Windows that did something that you would like to have done on OS X you can transfer the what but not the how. That is you can do the same thing (automate backups in this case) but how you go about that will be different.
If you;re intereested in learning scripting on OS X (either shell or Applescript) this could be a good project to start with. You know what you want you just have to figure out how to do it in OS X now. If this is the case I'd suggest you start a new thread in the Mac OS X Technologies group. That is where scripting is usually discussed.
    good luck
    regards

  • Help with Internet Recovery

When booting up with cmd+r held, it boots automacticaly to Internet Recovery.
I select my net work and the wifi icon shows it has connected, but no toher sign to show that it is doing anything more, just a spining globe.
I have removed all security from my network and i wait for about 15mins and it says Error 2002f.
Ive read on this board about the issue but nothing seams to be working.
My MacBook Air is the lastest 2013 model running Mountain Lion.

That error means that the Recovery system was unable to reach an Apple server thru your network connection.
Try connecting your AIR with a Ethernet cable dongle (gigabit thunderbolt to Ethernet)
However check with your network admin. about connection errors.
Worst case scenario, the folks at Apple store will restore it for you no charge if you make appt. for same.

  • How Robohelp noted which Word Version is installed?

    Hello!
I have installed on my PC Word 2007 and Word 2010. They both work fine.
After  I installed Word 2010, i can't create printed  documentation any more, because robohelp says that no compatible version is installed.
I know that I can first start Word 2007, so the configuration is rewritten and then it works again. But this process takes a long time. So i deactivated this process with the Registry-Key NoReReg=1.
I suspect that Robohelp Notes from the registry, the current version of Word. The question is, what registry-key is the right one. There are tons that have to do with Office.
Does anyone have an idea, which registry-key Robohelp queries?
    Sorry for my bad english!
    Greetings!
    WEC

I believe someone posted that very recently. A search in the fields for the RoboHelp categories should help.
If you do use Word 2010, bear in mind it is not tested or supported.

  • Which Oracle Client to install with BO XI4

    Hello,
To install BO on Oracle , we should have the Oracle DB installed with the client.
But  Which option should i choose from instant client, administrator, runtime or Custom.
I already installed the Instant client and BO XI 4 SP2 Patch 8, if another client has to be insatlled, can i do it after te BO insatalltion or should i start from the begining?
    Regards,
    Hassan

    Hi,
i always used the runtime installer. In XI 3.1 the instant client wasnt sufficient enough. Did you used the instant client also for the connection to the CMS and Audit DB oder did you used the shipped DB?
Maybe they changed it in BI4 and the instant client is enough. But to be 100% safe i would use the runtime.

  • Mac OS X Lion unable to install after internet restore fails to verify

I am in middle of the restore process.
I have deleted the partition as adviced by apple support. But when on step to install Mac OS X Lion (using internet restore), it asks for apple ID for verification.
On providing the correct credentials too it fails stating that "This apple ID has not purchased Lion"
I am hereby attaching images from my appstore showing the receipt of the product being bought. See the thrid entry from last (OS X Mountain Lion) .
Kindly advice as why is it failing to verify ?

After mutiple retries and diffculties I have reinstalled Snow Lepord on the Mac.
But after sucessful reinstallation the problem still exists. Once the installation was over it asked to reboot.
But the behaviour remains the same.
I dont see anymore the crsip light grey screen at startup, its always the interlaced blurry greenish grey screen.
Then it gets stuck on the plain light grey screen , later which turns to blue screen.
So to complete the intial setup ; I had to reboot in safe mode. completed the initial setup and configuration ; including creation of user AC ,etc.
I have tried safe boot;but with no fix . In one instance when I tried to reboot in safe mode it stopped after trying to start in GUI mode with curson linking on a  black screen ; as if waiting for me to type some command.
I tried all commands such as exit , reboot , with no luc.
Hard booted .. tried in single user mode ...
again display was never clear and on a flourosent green interlaced screen.. entered the single user mode.
tried /sbin/fsck -fy ; twice till I got message “The volume XZY appears to be OK”
    Still the problem existed.
Then as a last hope tried PRAM reset combination and looks like I got the clear crisp grey screen .. hence took the fingers from combination.
Though the mac started as of now .. I feel the problem is there .. and waiting to strike back again. Kindly let me know if my analysis are not correct. What should I do as next step ?

  • Which Java version to install on Windows w/AMD Athlon 4400+?

    Hello all,
Until now, I've always run Windows on an Intel Pentium platform. However, I just purchased a new PC with an AMD64 Athlon 4400+ processor (one of those new "dual core" jobs). According to the PC manufacturer, this processor can run at 64-bit or 32-bit, but by default, is set to 32-bit processing.
    Here's my question:
Assuming that I'll be running this machine as a 32-bit processor, which version of the JDK should I pick to run on this new system? Windows/Pentium or Windows AMD64?
    Thanks for your help.

    Be careful here.
I went out and bought a nice new AMD64 cpu and
installed the beta Windows XP 64 bit edition and then
tried to install that 64 bit Java for AMD and never
got past the install. Windows kept killing the
installer insisting it was either a virus or
    unauthorized or some such nonsense.
After not being able to install other 32 bits apps
(and I had no problems with other 32 bis apps, mind
you) I finally removed windows 64 and installed
Windows XP Pro and Java 1.4.x without issues.
Conclusion: Install the 32 bit Java if your OS is 32
bit, install the 64 bit version of Java if your OS is
64 bit (if you can). Your hardware makes no
difference if it can operate at both 32 and 64 bits.
Then it depends on the OS that you're running
g because it will tell your CPU which mode to operate
in."Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is designed to meet the demands of customers who require large amounts of memory and floating point performance in areas such as mechanical design and analysis, 3-D animation, video editing and composition, and scientific and high-performance computing applications. "
    - Microsoft
"If you use only 32-bit applications and work with data sets not larger than 2 GB, you will find that 32-bit, Windows XP Professional is the best desktop system for your applications."
    - Microsoft
Are you even doing anything Windows 64 is designed for? Unless you're running in a 64-bit environment you shouldn't be downloading the 64-bit Java, whether or not your processor can support 64-bit environments is irrelevent. If you're a Windows user, then chances are you shouldn't be using Windows 64 because unless you require massive amounts of processor power and memory for things like animation or engineering it's not for you.

  • Which Firefox version fits best with iMac G5 + Mac OSX 10.5.8?

    I made a mistake.
I installed Safari 5.0.6 with loss of good functioning of the browser (lay out not any longer the same as with Safari 4) because my iMac G5 (with PPC) runs under Mac OSX 10.5.8. The computer refuses reinstallation of the older version (Safari 4).
The temporary solution in my idea is using Firefox in the adapted version. Could you tell me which one?
    Thanks for help.

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. <br />

  • Which JRE version to install on 64bit OS (win server 2008)

    Hello everyone
I'm not sure what Java and JCO versions / releases to install on a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64bit Edition. We're installing  Edge BI 3.1... apparently this is 32bit Software. I understand that we need to install JCO 2.1.9. Normally I prefer to install 64bit versions of a software on a 64bit OS.
In the JCO 2.1.9 installation preliminaries I read:
The SAP Java Connector (JCo) 2.1.9 requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.3 or 1.4. The 64-bit JCo versions need a 64-bit JRE version 1.4. Please see SAP note 549268 for a current and detailed list of supported platforms and Java runtime environments.
Unfortunately I can't find a 64bit JRE version 1.4... just a 32bit JRE 1.4.2_19 version. Furthermore this Java version is end of life. See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/download-138376.html.
So question is: what versions exactly for JCO 2.1.9 (32 or 64 bit) and JRE should I install?
Thanks for some clarification in advance to anyone!
    Renaud
    EDIT:
According to [this|Re: BOE SAP integration kit issue - Java connector] posting it seems that it is required to install the 32bit version of JCO 2.1.9

Actually, this problem is only partially solved. I still get "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock..." when I type 'mysql'. I can access mysql by typing 'sudo mysql', but still get the socket error when connecting via php, so I think I still need to get to the point where I can type mysql without sudo.
Also, I went ahead and installed MySQL 5 with the tar package.

  • Which JBuilder version to work with Oracle BPEL?

Hi, Im very new to Oracle Bpel.I just started yesterday. Could you please tell me which version of Jbuilder has to be installed and links from which i can dowload.
    Thank you.
    user11269341

    Welcome to Oracle BPEL!
You may use a Oracle JDeveloper 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.3) from the following link.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html
That should be fine for the SOA Suite 10.1.3.3 which is also available from the same link (Oracle Application Server 10g Rel3 10.1.3).
    hope that helps!

  • Which Jdev version to start with?

Hi all, I have played with java for some time and looked at early versions of Jdev but now want to use it in earnest myself to expand my skill sets. I work primarily with Oracle Applications and would like to create custom modules etc using Jdev and learn this development tool.
Which version should I start with? Is it better to look at 9 version rather than 10 as there are more resources etc and also more likely to be in use in the world of work?
Great if someone who uses it in the real world for development could give me some advice.
    Thanks Cel

There is no reason to start with 9i.
The way I see it is that you have two options right now:
10.1.2 - the current production version
or 10.1.3 - which is currently in a developer preview mode.
The decision factor can come down to which technology you are interested in. (for example JSF is only in 10.1.3).
But one more important factor is ADF which is not yet in the 10.1.3 preview - and is especially useful for people who are just starting with Java.
My suggestion is that you take 10.1.2 and run through the reviewer guide to understand what ADF gives you.
Then you'll have a better view point on which version to use.
