Which Macs have graphics cards that are specifically designed to work best with CS6?

I'm currently using a late-2009 24" iMac but it just isn't robust enough for some of the the programs included in CS6 (After Effects, Premiere Pro, for example).  I'm planning to buy a new Mac, but I would like to know if there is one or more that has/have graphics cards that are specifically designed to work well with CS6, and if not, were I to purchase a Mac Pro, would I be able to replace the factory graphics card with an after-market card that does?  Thank you.

If you are not in the 4K business --> I would go for the 32 GB & 27" iMac w/o Retina, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M mit 4 GB GDDR5 (CUDA support) will give you quite a good performance, i.e. with a Thunderbolt connected Raid6 system your 2K projects (including some color correction and other plugins) will work well and you can even use the system as 4k starter/test system.
If you in the 4K business you could use a full blown iMac Retina system with a GPU AMD Radeon R9 M295X mit 4 GB GDDR5 together with an already mentioned TB Raid6 system. As described from the forum-compatriots, this non-CUDA card doesn't perform too well on GPU accelerated functions of PPro --> but --> search this forum... you will be surprised....some workflows are nearly unaffected....
If you are in the high end 4K footage busine$$ and you apply a lot of external color correction to your 4k footage (e.g. BM DaVinci) I would go for a MPro with 2 D700 cards.

A couple of years ago I remember Adobe listed Graphics Cards that were optimized to work best with Rendering in Premier Pro and other applications.  I have Creative Cloud so I have access to latest versions.
The iMac 5K Retina has a choice of AMD Radeon R9 M290X and M295X.
The Mac Pro has Options of AMD FirePro d300, D500 etc.
Does anyone have any idea where I can find out what graphic cards are optimized for Premier Pro an other applications from Adobe?

  • Which MAC Pro graphics card and how much RAM for FCE HD usage?

I plan on purchasing a MAC Pro afer MacWorld Expo next month. Any recommendations for a specific graphics card that would complement my usage of Final Cut Express HD 3.5?
Also, should I increase my RAM? I currently use 2 gb of RAM on my G4. Will I see greater productivity if I bump it up to 4gb of RAM on the MAC Pro or will 2gb suffice which I had planned to increase it to from the standard 1gb supplied?

Any of the graphics cards that Apple sells for the Mac Pro will be fine. Personally, I'd suggest choosing one with at least 128MB video RAM, 256MB would be better.
2GB RAM in your Mac Pro will be more than enough for general purpose video editing. Going to 4GB will give you more oomph for RealTime effects and somewhat for rendering but you won't see a big difference in regard to capturing or general editing in the timeline.

  • Which Mac Pro Graphics Card For A Multimedia Installation with 4 Projectors?

    Hi All,
I'm looking for advice on a multimedia installation I'm working on as part of my thesis. Essentially I need to use my Mac Pro to run a multimedia installation that will use four projectors (Full HD) all displaying as one logical display. I then need to have two separate monitors to control back ground functions of the installation. My Mac Pro is an early 2008 model and intend to use the current graphics card to run the control monitors. So my questions are...
One of the main things I'm unsure about is if it's possible to output on more than one graphics output and have the computer see it as one display. Any one have experience with this?
Is there a graphics card compatible with OSX that will output to four displays simultaneously? Keeping in mind that it would have to have an option to see all the displays as one one single desktop so when I go full screen that the application I'm using will fill all four projector screens (I'm not concerned with edge detection or blending as it's not an issue). This display would be running at a resolution of 7680x1080 (4 x 1) or 3840×2160 (2 x 2).
If there isn't a four port graphics card, is there a similar type of card with just two outputs? Each display would would need to be capable of outputting half the combined necessary resolution each. I have looked at the option of using Matrox TripleHead2Go multiple display adaptors which would work provided I can find a card that will output to two displays while seeing the output as one singular desktop. That would essentially be two ports outputting the resolution above which can then be split among the Matrox TripleHead2Gos.
Finally, there is the small issue of what ports to use - DP or DVI? My understanding is that Dp can carry DVI so I'm covered in that case as well as DP cables being able to go slightly further in length than DVI? Any advice on this too?
    Thanks,
    Derek

The Mac already has the feature you need for seamless tiling of multi-display output. It has been built-in to Mac OS since System 4.2 was issued for the original Mac-II. It is called "Extended Desktop". Every well-behaved Mac Application can use it without modification, unless the author chooses to defeat the feature, as was done in some versions of iMovie.
Based on this feature, you are massively over-thinking the display and interface process. "It's in there."
When you set up multiple displays, whether on one card or multiple cards, the Mac can create an Extended Desktop. Each display provides a portion of this larger extended Desktop, and the displays are "joined" along the edges you specify. Windows split across displays continue to be updated and scroll as one window, regardless of the parameters of each display. The Arrange pane in System Preferences > Displays is used to re-arrange the Icons of each display to correspond with their arrangement in (real) space.
When the Mac Pro 2009 came out, its display card, the NVIDIA GeForce GT120, could be installed in multiples in every slot to get up to eight displays. It does not require Aux power connection. I believe it will also work in the 2008 model. It is still available in the Apple store:

  • Power Mac G5 graphics card

    Evening,
Recently I am a proud owner of a Power Mac G5. It came without a graphics card and now it's my job to find one. I have checked tons of forums, websites like ebay (marktplaats, a dutch ebay) and other websites but I am stuck and can not find it at all!
From the information on the Apple site that I get after filling in my serial number is this: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP80
I checked what hard disk is installed and it was a 160GB maxtor, so I presume it was the model that came with a 9600 XT?
Does anybody know where I could possibly find a card for this system?

You need a Mac compatible, 8x AGP graphics card.
I have a list of all your options here:
    4B4B7BA2-7ABB-47F1-87AC-B03D37942BEE.html
eBay is the only reliable source for graphics cards that are affordable.
The few "retail" web sources available are usually outrageously priced.
Make sure a cards description specifically states Mac, G5 and OS X compatibility in thje description or all bets are off.

  • Leap and Radius! Other brand cards that are compatible

Our network guys are fixing to build a wireless network with the Cisco Leap and a Radius server for authenticity. I need to know if Cisco is going to make a wireless card for the Compact Flash slot. I have some Tablets and PDA's I would like to use but the don't have PCMCIA slots. If not are there other companys that have wireless cards that are compatible with this authenticity. I am currently working with Symbol Technologies. They say their card will work with this authenticity. The only authenticity I see in the settings on this card is for Kerbos. Does Kerbos work with a Radius server? If not can they build a Kerbos server to be a second way of authenticating the user on the wireless network?

When symbol says their CF card will work within the LEAP architecture, they likely mean using MAC authentication. While it is possible to run LEAP and MAC authentication concurrently, it does significantly weaken the security provided by LEAP alone. It is relatively easy to capture and spoof a MAC address that is valid using simple tools.
Symbol has recently licensed the LEAP architecture from Cisco, but does not yet have any products available supporting this. I have not heard of specific plans for supporting LEAP on their CF product.
Symbol is, however, your best hope for CF/LEAP support. They are partnering with Cisco and, as stated earlier, they have already licensed the LEAP architecture.
Cisco's current product line will not support the Symbol Kerberos security mechanism (at least not in any way I've seen).

  • Does mac have an app that graphically finds & highlights file icons?

Does mac have an app that graphically finds & highlights file icons (especially on the desktop)?
This used to be available as a 3rd party app on older systems but I haven't seen it currently.
Sherlock just finds locations as a listing.

The easiest way is to use iPhoto, just drag the picture in to it. To resize it select the picture and in the menu bar "FILE - EXPORT". You can preform basic editing and corrections by double clicking on the picture.

  • GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition Graphics Card advice wanted 2008 Mac Pro. Eight core desktop.

I have read some threads yet it is not clear to me if it is a good move to upgrade an Mac Pro eight core 3.1- 2008 to use GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition Graphics Card. I ask as my GeForce 8800 GT 2008 card has given up the ghost, and it has done sterling service R.I.P.. The machine is in the repair shop for a service itself, and this problem. So I thought an upgrade, as I am at it. Daunting choice out there. Um, learning curve and all that!
I mainly do 2D graphics, Canvas, Adobe stuff, yet a little amount of video, which may grow some. No games on this work horse!
So here I am fishing for experienced advice were my own is not, from anyone who has done this. Has it held up, do you get a boot screen, does it run two monsters easily via DVI.
If you have one or something good fitted please share the skinny!
For me it is turning into the year of the video card. My laptop looks like it got the disease first!
    Thanks.

#1: AMD 7950 Mac Edition, or not. $425
    #2: GTX 680 Mac $625
#3: MacVidCards - various but worth a look

#4: GTX 285, no idea how 'safe' as often read someone (not Macvidcards) flashed PC card and sold as "Mac" and they are old, and may not be supported in Mavericks (and that would apply to a 8800 too).

A new gpu is $5000 cheaper than an overhaul and new MP.
A 2008 though will never perform as well as later models. Ideal is 2010 or later.
Even a top of the line iMac with GTX if you are having a lot of trouble and thinking of ditching the 2008.

  • Mac Pro Graphics card on PC?

This may sound like a stupid question, but is it possible to use the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB
    on a Windows PC??
    The reason why I am contemplating this is;
    1. I bought the 24" LED display and would like to use it with my PC as well.
    2. Connection issues and lack of adapter for mDP mean I have to get a graphics card that has an mDP
    3. None out there...except for Apple
    4. Since Mac Pros are intel based and also run Windows, and since the card is also a PCI express standard, would I not be able to use in on my PC if all other criteria are met?
I am sure I can download a standard driver from NVIDIA site.
Any tips or comments as to whether this can be possible, are welcome!

It should work, Nvidia has Windows drivers for the card.

  • Mac Pro  Graphics card and Motion 5

I purchased my Mac Pro in 2007,  It is 2x 2.66 GHz dual core with 12 GB 667 MHz DDR2 F8-DIMM
My grahpics card is Radeon X1900.
Is this sufficient for Motion 5 and will I see a difference in speed, etc from Motion 4.
Also, is it possible to upgrade my graphics card to say, ATI 4870 to improve graphic performance all around?   I have a real problem with complex graphics and usually cannot see them in full render until I compress the project.
    Thanks,
    Sandra

Any of the graphics cards that Apple sells for the Mac Pro will be fine. Personally, I'd suggest choosing one with at least 128MB video RAM, 256MB would be better.
2GB RAM in your Mac Pro will be more than enough for general purpose video editing. Going to 4GB will give you more oomph for RealTime effects and somewhat for rendering but you won't see a big difference in regard to capturing or general editing in the timeline.

  • Upgrade existing Mac Pro graphics card

I'd like to upgrade the graphics card that's in my Mac Pro that I bought last year. Doesn't have to be the latest one that came out with the new ones this week. The ATI Radeon X1900 XT would be fine.
Can I purchase one from Apple? I tried Otherworld Computing (macsales.com) and they didn't have any options.
    Any suggestions?
I'm not looking for a Windows only card as I've seen some threads referring to, I want something that I can use natively in Mac OS X Leopard.
    Thanks

I bought a Pro as I was led to believe that it was 'upgrade-able' and in the future I was able to change components as new developments came down the pipeline. Now I find this not to be true , I may as well have bought an iMac or Macmini.
What in earth is the point of having upgrade slots if you can't upgrade things ??
This whole thing smacks of utter incompetence and a tinge of underhand business attitude , forcing people to buy a new £3,000 computer just to change their video card. Its OUTRAGEOUS !
This is the LAST time I will ever buy a mac tower , it's back to iMacs for me . I had similar problems in 1994 when I bought a Quadra 840av , then Apple not only changed to PPC but from Nu Bus to PCI !
My suggestion : if you don't expect to upgrade your computer within 6-12 months of owning it , buy something integrated and accept you'll just have to change every 2-3 years. You'll save money in the long run and won't feel ripped off.
Apple should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen , imo it's disgraceful.
Finally the fact that the X1900 is a buggy , noisy pile of junk doesn't help. The 8800 would be a fantastic upgrade but as I've outlined earlier , that option has been taken away from us.
    Really really shocking.

?Is there a graphics card that will be compatible in my HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook (model dv2419us)? - This notebook has Windows 7 Home Premium.
    - I was looking to take the free upgrade to WIndows 10 - I requested the reservation.
    - Initial response was to wait for downloads would be available.
    - Just got the message that it is not compatible with Windows 10 because it has an Nvidia Go GeForce 6150 graphics card.
    - I contacted Nvidia about a card that would be comaptible with WIndows 10.
    - Response was that couldn't recomment a replacement, and to contact HP.
    - Does anyone know if there is a graphics card replacement for the HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook that would make it compatible with Windows 10?
...Or is my only option to not upgrade to Windows 10 or buy a new laptop?

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I understand that you are inquiring about a Graphics Card Replacement.  Unfortunately the Graphics Cards are not replaceable on the HP Pavilion dv2000 Notebook PC. They are attached directly to the motherboard. The only way to replace a Graphics Card  would be to replace the whole Motherboard.  Hope I answered your question.  Have a great day!

Well, this question really belongs in the iTunes forum, which is where you will get fast answers.
Just go to iTunes Preferences.  Click on the General icon.  Set When you insert a CD to Ask to Import CD.  Click on Import Settings.  Set Import to MP3 decoder.  Make sure you're using Good Quality.
This should deal with your CD's.
With your current music, as long as it does not have DRM restrictions (older iTunes Music did), select the song, right click on the song (or group of songs), pull down to Create MP3 version.
