Which motherboard with Emu 1212m?

Hi all
I'm bulding a new system:
Antec p182 Case
ASUS P5K Premium Motherboard
Geforce 8800 GT
Crucial ddr2 pc6400 ram
Intel core 2 Q6600
I'm just wondering how well the Asus P5K will work with my Emu 1212m + Cubase sx3.
Is it a match made in heaven or should I be looking at a different motherboard/chipset?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've got the same question!
I'm building a new dedicated standalone DAW that will be staged in phases.
I'm starting with an Athlon64x2~6000 but I'm looking at the ASUS M3A series
of Mobo with the 790FX chipset that will eventually be upgraded to a Phenom
when they reach 1mb L2 for each core.
I am also entertaining the idea of going with XP64 but also possibly over Linux.
What if any issues are known or anticipated with this Mobo?
P.S.>>>
Anyone else running:
Athlon 64x2~6000 with ASUS chipsets and ATI PCIx for WinXP64 and Cubase SX-2?
What are the impressions and issues if any!

  • I want to record guitar/bass at a entry pro level with a EMU 1212M - I need advice please......

    Hi,
I am new to recording music and am looking for a cost effective way to record at true 24bit/dithered to 44.1k+ quality for my home computer. I have a pro electric guitar vox amp and mic + top line PC computer.
I would like to get some opinions about EMU 1212M and If it is best suited for my needs.
Can I go line out 1/4 jack from my amp to the 1/4 jack on the EMU without any quality loss? Also can I take my condenser mic and go line without any quality loss?
I have read that using a preamp is the best way to go, If I get this card will I suffer any quality loss from not connecting my instruments to a preamp first?
I read that people are having trouble using fruity loops with this specific card, is this true, and is there another software besides fruity loops that's better suited for this card?
A few people report they wind up buying a interface for there guitar to interface with the card for better quality, Is this true or necessary?
In short, would the 1212M be a good place to start off at a entry pro level home recording? What limitations will I have using the pre-installed Cubeace LE edition? Any thought are welcome.
    Thank you,
    Jay lyons

I'm into recording music, too, but I'm a little more experienced with it. Thing is I just use a MIDI keyboard and a microphone for vocals and other instruments, but I'm looking into the e-mu system for guitar parts. You're definitely going to be very limited in what you can do with any included software (personal experience), so you should get software that will work just for that. there's alot of free stuff out there like audacity, but I use voyetra record producer deluxe edition because it's easier and has more than just the basics. you can try it for 30 days, if you want.

  • EMU 1212m installation problems! Help needed!

Hello everyone. Hopefully someone can help me out, getting my 1212m back to working.
A month ago, I bought a new computer and I put a EMU 1212m into it. It worked fine, until some other audio devices had bad drivers and made windows crash so many times, I decided to format my hard disk and install XP over again. Well, that worked out fine, computer is running very smoothly but I cant install my 1212m anymore. Windows does find new hardware, which it names "multimedia-audiocontroller, pci slot xx, etc" in the device manager. When I start the EMU setup from the original CD, it says "setup has not detected any supported hardware on your computer" and it closes down right away.
    I already tried this:
    - multiple installation CD's
    - multiple EMU drivers (internet, etc)
    - chancing PCI slots
    - disabling on-board sound via Bios
    - cleaning up registery settings from earlier installation attemps.
    - manually select the drivers on the installation CD. It installes the drivers and then Windows says: this device will not start.
I can try whatever I want, but the message keeps on showing up everytime I start a setup. I don't know which actions to take next, so I desperately need some advice here.
any help will be much appreciated!
    thanks,
    Hugo

I just bought a 1212M and have had similar problems. I assumed the website drivers would be newer than those on the accompanying CD as is the case with most products -- WRONG! I got the same symptoms you describe with the internet drivers, only when I used the CD did it work -- and to my amazement, the CD drivers seems to be newer than the internet downloads (excluding the 2.0 beta drivers of course).
Another complication I had was that I left my perfectly working X-Fi in the computer while installing the 1212M .... the drivers seem to confuse the two cards, which doesn't help. In fairness, the Emu documentation does warn about this, however I eventually got both to work together. If you have a second soundcard in the same computer, even one built into the motherboard, disable it and see if that helps. The Creative (SoundBlaster) drivers are notoriously hard to uninstall cleanly, so if necessary follow Martin Walker's excellent advice over at Sound On Sound (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar0...pcmusician.htm).

  • EMU-1212m and another sound card

Can an sudio interface like EMU-1212m and another SB sound card be used on the same system by switching from one to the other?

    neutron wrote:
Thanks. My present configuration is a 2ZS Platinum Pro. I just received an X-Fi Elite Pro which isn't installed yet.
I'm still considering the EMU-1212m and was hoping to be able to use it along with the Elite Pro but based on what you say this isn't possible.
Can I have both the 2ZS Plat Pro and Elite Pro cards at the same time? Or should I fully uninstall th 2ZS first?
I can't be sure if 2zs and original X-Fi can work side by side since, the issue may come from drivers ... both models (and E-MU DSP card models as well) has driverfiles with equal names (file names). If you aren't expertienced asm -programmer, you can't change this the way that those driver file names would be different.
So, if the X-Fi DSP is backwards compatible then there shouldn't be issues to get 2zs/EP combination working (IIRC, in this case, just install the EP drivers/software over 2zs).

  • Conflict between EMU 1212M PCI-e and Gigabyte 970A-D3 High Latency!!!

I recently built a new DAW around my EMU 1212m PCI-e card using a Gigabyte 970A-D3 , Phenom2-X6 T1055 Chip. The reason I built this new DAW was because all of a sudden my old DAW started having unusually high latency and uneven core distribution (core 1 was amped out) this started after I flashed the BIOS to my old board and I updated Sonar to X1c. I tried various setting with the old DAW but could no longer get the performance prior to these changes. My original plan was to change the motherboard and memory and put into DDR3 and keep the original chip but that made things worse. So I then decided to go to the 6 core it was cheap enough so what the heck, but the same thing now luck. I then tried to use a USB based audio interface for the test I just purchased a Behringer UCA202 and I found a much improved response. My final test was to try yet another board my choice for the board was the MSI 870S-G54 and I got much better results but not as near as good as I was getting originally.
Please note that with each of these test I was exchanging cards to different slots, trying various BIOS setting and all driver are current and updated and baI sically doing what ever it take to troubleshooting a DAW but I have seen absolulty no changes. All power saving setting on the BIOS was turned off (C-1 halt, AMD Cool & Quiet, TurboBoost, etc)With the change to the MSI board I was able to get about 30 tracks of VST's running at about 6ms however with the Gigabyte board I was getting at 50ms with he same project it was crapping out.
Reaper has far less power usage as is expected from Reaper yet it was halting and glitching. Comparing the Behringer to the EMU showed about 25% less CPU useage.
    My questions are as follows:
Anybody out there had a problem with the C1 update?
Anybody having trouble using a Gigabyte board?
Anybody having problems with the EMU card over any other Audio Interface?
Each time I updated a component I did a clean install of Win7-64bit. I should also let you know that I am using the 32bit versions of Reaper in Sonar only because the project that I am finishing now started in 32bit.
Does anyone have any clues? Please help.....

    JJ,
    Have you tried [url=http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml">http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml[/url]
This app may give you a better idea of what is going on in your system.
Also what resources are being used ? Is the card sharing IRQ's
With multicore systems sometimes you may want to try assigning CPU affinity to just one Process like the emaudsv.exe

  • Emu 1212m Setup Issues

Hello. I am having issues with my Emu 1212m. I have installed the soundcard and followed the instructions in the tutorial below. Yet when i play anything in my windows media player, I see that the audio is detected in the patchmix, but there is no audio coming out of my monitors. My monitors are coming out of the output, my input is from my keyboard, and i can't hear anything out of my monitors. My media settings all say that the EMU is being used and my Windows Media Player shows no "error" when i play something. Here's the Tutorial i followed:
"Plug your source (mic w/preamp etc) into the L analogue input of your card.
Load up PatchMix and click on the ‘New Session’ button. A dialogue box will appear.
Select the ‘44/48k’ tab and click on the ’44.1 Minimum -10’ icon. Make sure the ‘Edit Settings for New Session’ option is selected. Click OK. The ‘Session Settings’ dialogue should appear. For the purposes of this guide the default settings are fine so click on OK. If necessary you can change the sample rate from 44.1 to 48 on the ‘System’ tab, and change the Inputs/Outputs of your card to balanced (+4) or unbalanced (-10) on the ‘I/O’ tab. You can change these options at any time within PatchMix using the ‘Session Settings’ button so don’t worry too much.
You should now have two strips present. The ‘Waves L / R’ strip handles the WDM output we will be using. It also outputs the internal Windows sounds. You will also have an ‘ASIO OUT 1 / 2’ strip. We don’t need this so click on the strip and click the ‘Delete Strip’ button, then OK. The ‘Waves L / R’ strip has a peak meter in its top insert; these are useful in solving problems when you aren’t sure how far the audio is getting.
That’s our output, now we need an input. Click on the ‘Create Strip’ button, select the ‘Physical Source’ button and select ‘I/O Card In L’ option from the drop down list. Then click on OK.
An ‘I/O Card In L’ strip should now appear. Right-click in the top insert of this strip and from the menu that appears select ‘Insert Peak Meter’. If you use your mic/guitar etc you should see this meter moving and hear the noise amplified from your speakers. However this guide assumes you don’t want to hear this signal, you only want to hear the noise that is being outputted by your recording software so you can hear any processing it has added. So click the ‘Mute’ button on this strip. The peak meter will still register the sound, but it will not be outputted.
Now we need the signal to be recognised by the recording software. Right-click in the insert below the peak meter in your ‘I/O Card In L’ strip. From this menu select ‘Insert Send (Output to ASIO/WAVE or Physical Out)’. The ‘New Send Insert’ dialogue will appear. From the drop down menu select ‘Host Wave L / R’ and click on OK. You will now have ‘Send’ in the insert you clicked on. "
What do i have to do in order to get audio through my soundcard? Someone please help.

I just purchased an Emu 1212m and installed it last Monday. I was having a similar problem when I found your posting. With the help of a friend who is a net. admin. at the local University we were able to get the analog I/O working.
My OS is Windows XP Home Edition. To make the I/O work we eventually had to open the system device manager. To access go to it:
    1. Open "Control Panel" from the Start Menu.
    2. Open "System"
    3. In the "System Properties" dialog click the "Hardware" tab and then click "Device Manager".
Open the "Sound, video and game controllers" folder. If you don't see the E-mu soundcard listed, select the top-level folder (i.e., it's pictured as a computer icon). Under the "Action" menu choose "Scan for hardware changes". This process should find your sound card. If not you may have to power down and unplug your computer and physically reinstall the cards.
Reopen the "Sound, video and game controllers" folder in the Device Manager and select the Emu sound card. Under the "Action" menu select "Update Driver...". This will bring up a dialog box that contains all the sound card drivers available from the System. Ignore these. Insert the CD Rom that contains the drivers and click the button that lets you upload them from the CD.
    I hope that helps.
    Yours,
    Larry

  • 6330 motherboard with pioneer a04

I have a 6330 motherboard with 1Ghz duron, 512MB ram, elsa gladiac mx; with a pioneer a04 dvd-rw drive installed on ide2 as master, dvd playback is stuttery, audio breaks up. with other motherboards in the past (abit kt7a) i have had good luck with setting the drive to pio4, disable udma. i cannot seem to find a way to get the same performance with the 6330.

    Hi,
Can't you just set it to UDMA mode - as far as I know this drive supports UDMA 33?
Which version of Windows are you running?
Your graphics card is a little dated too although it should play DVDs OK.

  • EMU 1212m Issues (As well as Digi 002R)

Hello everyone. Last year i purchased an EMU 1212m which i installed and ran according to the directions. However recently, when i installed a USB Mixer into my computer it hasn't been responsive. Even when i uninstalled the USB mixer and went back to the EMU, although sound waves could be seen in the patchmix, nothing would come out of my speakers. Any idea as to what the problem might be?
Now, I have recently purchased a Command|8 and I have a Digi 002R on the way. To connect the 002R i require a firewire connection. For the moment i have reinstalled the USB mixer so that i can have sound. Although the Emu is not being used, can i still use the Firewire port on the 1212m daughter card to connect my Digi 002 when it arrives? (The Patchmix software is installed but the Emu is not being used as the soundcard)
Also, if the daughter card will work without the actual 002 card working, can i use, and will i need to use the USB mixer? Thanks alot

    Hey,
There are a few things you need to check:
1 - The PatchMix Session you have loaded MUST match the Sample Rate of the file you are playing back
2 - In the Output Assignment Window, you need to have a tick mark against either Mix or Mon for the output that your speakers/monitors are connected to
    If you have done this then;
3 - Restore Defaults in PatchMix and restart.
Once the 1212M card is correctly installed and Enabled in Device Manager then you will be able to use the IEEE 1394 connector on the backplate of the 1010 PCI card.
The daughter card is actually the 0202M (Model: 8820)...and the 1010PCI card will function without the daughter card connected. The 0202M has the Analog In/Out and also the MIDI In/Out so if you do not need these connections you do not have to have the 0202M connected to the 1010 PCI card, but as it doesn't take up a PCI slot or additonal resources I don't see why you wouldn't have it connected?
The PatchMix software is fully routable so it is not necessary to have an addtional USB Mixer.

  • Which motherboards compatible to the 41W1489 motherboard used in my T61 model 7664-16U?

I need a new motherboard. The 41W1489 in my T61 model 7664-16U is dead. Which other motherboards, if any, are compatible? What differences, if any, do those other motherboards have compared to my 41W1489?
It appears there have been problems with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M which I believe is part of my 41W1489 motherboard. If that is true and if the Intel graphics are better, than I would prefer to use a motherboard that has that Intel graphics as long as it is compatible with my model 7664-16U's features and operation.
Can I simply replace my 41W1489 motherboard with any you tell me are compatible or are there additional things I must do such as, for example, using another plastic base or changing anything else? I am already aware that if there are compatible motherboards that have the Intel video instead of the existing Nvidia video and I use any of those motherboards, I will have to install new drivers for that video.
Just to be safe, here is a list of some of the features of my machine. If any of them will not work with motherboards that you tell me are compatible with my 41W1489 motherboard, please let me know:
-modem port & modem motherboard daughter card lenovo fru 39T0495
    -3 usb ports
    -external VGA port
-dvd burner/cd drive, lenovo fru 39T1851
    -cpu: intel 2.0 GHz T7300
    -bluetooth
-wifi motherboard daughter card intel 4965AGN
-sound, including the existing sound ports for microphone and line output
    -firewire 1394 port
    -ethernet port
-two cards of 2GB PC2-5300 memory, total of 4GB
    -existing 14.1" widescreen display
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

    Hi!
According to your model type you have a 14.1 T61 wide
    T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, FPR, Turbo Mem, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business
The HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) states these two FRU number for Intel boards:
    -41W1487
    -42W7866
I know there are more numbers than these two, but at least you can start searching for those until other forum members can add more FRU's. These Intel boards will need a different heatsink (FRU# 42W2460, 44C0825 ) so you will need to look for one of those too.
The HMM has documented all steps you need to follow to change/swap parts, I would start downloading it as a first step. You can find it here => click me

  • Which motherboard do I have?

I just bought a refurbished MSI 865PE Neo2 -FIS2R from NewEgg.com and it came with no packaging at all. No cables, cd's, shield, manual.
I want to confirm which motherboard I got and if I should return it rather than waste my time trying to install it with my new P4 2.4 HT 800mhz CPU.
Here is what it says on stickers on the MB:
    865PE Neo2
    P/N: 6728-030
    S/N: K0309068053
    The board is purple.
Also, where can I get a face plate for this? THis board doesn't come with a Coaxial output RCA like it showed in the picture on NewEgg. One of the reasons Im asking.
    Help is much appreciated.

  • MDD dual 1.25 CPU DEAD- WHICH MOTHERBOARDS had COMPATIBLE CPU's?

I've just finished (after much help from Japamac, Grant Bennet and others) diagnosing what's wrong with my MDD.
    *FRIED CPU.*
My Logic board is marked 820-1476-A. I found a good used dual 1.25 CPU pulled from a MDD motherboard that's labelled (the motherboard is labelled) 820-1472-A.
ANYONE know if the motherboards are compatible, i.e. if a cpu pulled from that motherboard will run on my motherboard?
If noone knows, any ideas where I could find that info?
From my research so far, some MDD motherboards with nearly similar numbers CAN interchange CPU's, others cannot.
ANY help appreciated, especially now that I've got the issue isolated.

If its heat I would advise the dual 1.42GHz heatsink and using arctic silver paste...
Ah yes... the question of the millennium. What caused the first snowflake to fall...
    The fans are all fine.
    Here's the sequence of events:
I was experiencing a series of system corruptions & freezes forcing me to do hard shutdowns when this happened.
The only way to shut down a GUI freeze that I know of is to hard shut down (not good).
The day the full cascade happened, I'd just finished my *8th or 9th hard shutdown.*
I was trying to reboot from another partition on another disk that wasn't corrupted & repair the startup volume.
+*That's when I got a steady pitched tone upon restart. I had no idea what it meant.*+
+*After two more freezes the computer wouldn't startup at all.*+
My insurance would pay only IF I took it to a tech center, and they said "bad power supply, get another computer. It's not worth it."
I did end up get a used G5 but began to attempt a repair... I NEED a MDD for my music interface cards, circa 2000, which after my G5 purchase discovered that none of the cards work. That's my entire music interface; A MOTU 1208 with a 5 volt PCI card required to use it, and and "ADAT edit" card (same era).
The new G4 PSU (and a new power switch) got something happening, but I discovered that one of 2 seagate drives in the "front" cage was dead (only 1 year old).
Long story short, seagate sent me a new drive and, in researching the problem, I learned (*from seagate*) that their PATA barracuda drives run *really really hot.* I had TWO in the front cage, and two "pre-seagate" maxtor drives in the rear "wall cage".
*My estimation is that it WAS a heat problem, in one way or another that caused everything.*
I do music and drive the system pretty hard. There was thermal compound on the processors, but I wasn't the original owner, so I also have no idea if it was applied sufficiently, or how the computer was treated before I got it.
My concern is that the motherboard may have taken a hit as well, since when I first examined the CPU I didn't see the "black dot" I saw after attempting a startup with the new PSU. It *did start once, ran for 5 minutes and that's when I think the CPU shorted.*
Although (with the new PSU), even after that, all the fans run and the red light comes on, just no startup chime. Other than that I have no test equipment. Also running out of money.
I'm probably going to try and get a new processor I saw ($114), use only ONE drive in the front cage, get some ice goop, and hope the motherboard survived. Simply can't swing $250 for a used MDD, so I'm trying the processor swap... first.
I'm also going to find a way to install another small fan in the front cage blowing directly at the heat sink, and cross my fingers... *if I get that far*.
The fans always cycled up and down when needed, so the system WAS recognizing heat conditions.
I'm also thinking of drilling open the "cheese grater fake-holes" and setting the tower up off the floor for better air flow in general.
The heat sinks all seem to have totally different attachment methods.
Mine has 5 screws and uses a Rube Goldberg wiggy looking flange on the front.
+*I didn't know you could swap for the "copper tube" heat sink. I assumed the the 1.47 motherboard had different attachment points.*+
+*This is news to me. CAN I?*+
My sense is that something in the original "cascade failure" caused one of the 2 processors to fail. But I'm just guessing. Can't be sure until I replace it.
    +*...God I love being broke...*+

  • How to install Windows 8.1 Enterprise on Ultrabook which came with basic Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I guess I'm not the first one with this question but anyway...
I've got 2000EUR expensive Ultrabook recently, and what's interesting it came with Windows 8.1. Just standard basic Windows 8.1, not Pro or Enterprise.
Obviously I needed to upgrade it with larger SSD 1Tb and install Windows 8.1 Enterprise as I need Hyper-V and other Enterprise version functionality on day to day bases.
I was surprised that I can't do so as SLIC is reverting Windows 8.1 back to basics!!!
.. so my question is - How can I can Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64Bit on to very expensive Ultrabook which came with Windows 8.1?!?!
    Kind Regards,
    Kon

    Hi,
Enterprise edition of Windows Client OS, is not available via OEM and not via Retail - it's only available via Volume Licensing agreement.
you can purchase an upgrade to Pro, via the Microsoft Store:

  • Firefox 3.6.10 will not open Snapfish which runs with Firefox 3.6.9 so how do I get it to work.

Every time I open Firefox, it insists on upgrading itself to 3.6.10. Yesterday, I gave in and let it upgrade. To get my photo storage site to work, I had to "restore" my system before the download. Now it is still there wanting to upgrade itself, and I want to use Snapfish.
I admit that HP's Snapfish is always behind the times, but Snapfish remains an easy to use site. And too, I prefer to use Firefox than Explorer which works with Snapfish.

Looks that you need to open an iMacros sidebar.
Anything in View > Sidebar about iMacros?

    HI Frostyfrog
CHeck out iTunes Match which has an annual fee of £21 or thereabouts. You can store a maximum of 25,000 songs there and they all become available on your other kit, iPhone, iPad and iPod. I know it works as I have over 23000 songs uploaded of which only a few we're bought through iTunes.
it works by comparing your music to the whole iTunes music dadata base so you access the same tunes that you could get from iTunes. If you have obscure stuff, it uploads your own music to the cloud as a copy.
I Find it incredible that on my iPhone with its 16gb memory I can view almost 200 gb of music (ie my 23000 songs) and play any of them. Anything I add to iTunes becomes available via the cloud fairly quickly from a few minutes or a little longer if adding a lot.
The first time you use it it will take quite a while to match your music if you have a lot, but after that it is all automatic. Read the stuff on the apple site. Your PC needs to be at least running Vista. I recommend it and at less than 50p a week it's good value.
    Good luck
