Which mouse for imac

THIS MIGHT SEEM A SMALL ISSUE but I've been up all night researching this and I'm still not sure, so any advice would be much appreciated!
I'm looking for a different more comfortable mouse for my imac. I am having difficulty because I am shopping online and have no way to test the mouses. Does anyone have experience with the Trust laser mouse for mac (there's only one full-sized one) I thought I had made my choice but then I noticed that the tilt wheel is quite high off the mouse. Or is it just me?
http://www.twenga.co.uk/prices-Laser-Mouse-For-Mac-TRUST-Laser-mouse-476611-0
I need a smooth scroll wheel, a nice fairly wide body and either no side buttons or ones that won't get in the way. A lot of the other posts have recommendations but mostly to more cumbersome mouses. I just need a basic wired mouse to replace my "mighty" mouse.
I was also looking at : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/96793/showproductreviews
but as you can see the reviews say the centre button only works sometimes.
I use a Trust 350L for my PC and something close to that would be great. Everyone seems to go with Logitech but their reviews have problems.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I prefer trackballs.
Logitechs are great, just don't install their software(same for mice).
Here's the one I use: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Trackman-Wheel-Optical-Silver/dp/B00005NIMJ/ref=s r14?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1244792569&sr=1-4

  • Best mouse for Imac?

I'm really enjoying my Imac but am having trouble with the Mighty Mouse (corded mouse) that came with it. For some reason 25% of the time, the mouse responds as if I hit the secondary-right button. I'm sure it's just the way I am hitting it, but productivity is going down when this happens often enough. Is there another 3rd party mouse that someone can suggest? I love the style of this one and the scroll button, bit the primary and secondary buttons are driving me crazy.

Perhaps an explanation of how the MM works is in order and will help. I have to admit that the MM takes some getting used to and a bit of hand coordination. I got the hang of it quickly and have no issues with it. I think the MM is the best mouse for the iMac.
The exterior of the MM is touch sensitive. It can "feel' your fingers on the exterior and interprets what it senses to determine what it thinks you want to do. I rest my hand on the MM with thumb and ring finger in the area of the side buttons and index finger to the left of the scrollball and the middle finger to the right of the scrollball. The MM is configured in System Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse/Mouse with the Primary click on the left (with my index finger) and the Secondary click on the right (with my middle finger.)
If you click with the index finger to the left of the scrollball, you get a Primary click, with or without the middle finger touching the MM. To get a Secondary click, click with the middle finger to the right of the scrollball, but the index finger must be lifted from the MM.
I use a rocking of my two fingers. When I Primary click my middle finger goes up. When I Secondary click my index finger goes up. (I never could master the side button squeeze, so I turned them off in System Prefs.)
So if you are getting a Secondary click when you are intending a Primary click, your index finger must be lifting off the MM in some way.

  • Which system for iMac 400MHz 384MB RAM?

    Hello,
I'm going to buy old iMac with 400MHz G3, 384MB RAM and 10GB HDD. Please, what is your experience with Jaguar/Panther/Tiger on such computer? Which one is most suitable/swift? I'd like to do programming most (Xcode), no extreme audio/video.
    Thank you for your answers

When buying a used iMac G3 refer to this table - it will give you a good idea whether the specs on ebay are bull or not - it especially helps in finding out the exact colour of iMac you're getting and the VRAM/Video card etc. For example there never was a 500MHz iMac with CD-ROM (unless the owner built it to order).
First question. I've never had any success with booting form an external USB device - it's worth a go though!
If not; use the Media Exchange Programme from Apple to exchange your Tiger DVD for CDs.
Second question: iMac Slot Loaders have 2 x PC100 168pin DIMM slots under a fold open cover (no screw driver required - just a coin!). In my experience, under OS 9, I used to throw in any old cheap RAM - bought from anywhere cheap (I was at Uni at the time - and my house mates (PC owners) and I would chop and change computer parts all over! The final state I maxed it out with 1Gb of PC133 RAM from Crucial and my mother is now using that machine at university . Personally I've found newer Macs (i.e. iMac G4 is my latest) and OS X to be more fussy when it comes to RAM. I would recommend buying from a Mac friendly supplier if you plan on using OS X.
It needn't be much more expensive (- and you'll get it half the price we pay over here). Check out RAMSEEKER for good prices. Obviously living this side of the world I have no real experience of their service - but it is reputed to be good!
Before you install OS X on an iMac G3 for the first time you must update the firmware (whilst booted in OS 9.1).
    Hope this helps.

  • Wired mouse for iMac

    Hello Apple users,
I have a problem, i'm really not that keen on the Apple wired mouse.
Just doesn't feel nice in the hand for prolonged use.
Does anyone have recommendations for a good wired mouse that will work properly with the iMac and that i don't need 3rd party drivers to make it work better?
I have a SteelSeries Kana mouse but with the standard apple drivers it really doesn't work well.
i.e moving the tracking slider 1 notch is the difference between really slow & really fast.
I have tried using SteerMouse as 3rd party drivers, it helps but its still not very accurate especially for editing audio when accuracy is key.
Any help anyone can provide will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Beano.

  • Software that clicks mouse for iMac mouse

I'm looking for software that allows me "click" the mouse without having to physically click it with my right finger. Other software (only for Windows though) allows me to move the mouse over a on-screen button where I can dwell and this acts as a click.

I did not get along well with Apple mice. I use Logitech mice--there are many different models available. In order to get full functionality with such mice, you need a program which provides the drivers beyond those that Apple provides. I use a program called 'Steer Mouse'. It works very well--no need to even install Logitech drivers.

  • Best Wireless Mouse for iMac?

I like my Mighty Mouse, but I think its time to upgrade to a wireless mouse and I don't think the Mighty Mouse fits the bill.
I use iMovie and iPhoto a lot, and casual gamer (currently playing World of Goo - which is awesome BTW).
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  • Which Printer for iMac w/Intel?

I finally bought a rebuilt iMac with Intel and now discover that my printer will not work with it. Can someone recommend a printer that I can just plug in and go or set up for wireless without having to go on line and download a bunch of stuff? Make this as simple as possible please!
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Sheila Kobs

There are a lot of different types of printers out there.  I have several ... each for a different purpose.
If you want to print to standard size paper then take a look at Canon

I have the MX860 and find it does a great job for what I ask of it.

  • Mouse for iMac switches to other computer when I open iMac.

I recently bought a new imac with a trackpad instead of the mouse.  When I got it home, I decided to use the trackpad on my macmini and use the macmini's magic mouse on my new imac.
Everything seemed to be working fine.  However, if the Mini is on and I start the iMac, the magic mouse moves over to the Mini.  The iMac keeps searching.  Ultimately, I need to put the Mini to sleep or shut down so that the iMac can find the mouse.  It also interferes with my wireless.  The apple extreme is functioning according to the iMac and so is the network--but it just won't open to internet unless I keep that mini off while I restart.  Then everything is fine.  Mouse functions, wireless works, etc.
Is this a problem of screen sharing or what?  I don't understand why the mouse wants to connect to the Mini.

Go into System Prefences > Bluetooth on the Mini and unpair the mouse.  Then it won't connect anymore.

  • My wireless mouse for my iMac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having problems with computor not waking up and I put the the setting to "never". Anyone having same problem?

My wireless mouse for imac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having truoble with computor not waking up and I put the setting to "never sleep". Any suggestions?

If it's an Apple mouse, make it "Favorite" in Bluetooth preferences.
If it's not, the same thing might help, too, but if the problem continues it could be a driver issue (possible incompatibility with your OS X version).

  • HT1153 I've just put new batteries into my wireless mouse for my iMac and now it'll barely stay connected to my computer. It'll just keep disconnecting then reconnecting for a few minutes then disconnect again. Anyone have any ideas?

I've just recently put in brand new batteries into my wireless Bluetooth mouse for iMac and it continuously disconnects itself and will then reconnect itself for only a few minutes, just to disconnect again. It's become impossible to use my computer as my mouse smoky won't connect itself for long enough to do anything. Anyone had this problem before and could help me out?

    HI:
It does not sound like a battery problem.
    Try a couple of things:
    1.          Reset the SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2.          Reset (if you can) the PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
If that does not help, delete the mouse in system preferences, turn it off, restart, and turn the mouse back on.

P.S.  I only needed it once, but I have an old USB mouse in case my Bluetooth one decides to quit.

    Hi champrider,
You can use an application such as Apple Remote Desktop to control your iMac remotely. See this article -

  • How do you folks setup your Apple Mouse also known as MightyMouse for iMac?

Any hints?..., tips?..., pointers?..., suggestions?..., ideas?..., alternative ways?... how you folks out there setup your Apple Mouse also known as Mighty Mouse for the 27 inch iMac 3.2GHz Intel Core i3 Trying to interpret the available documentation that turned up so far... not easy, information in the documentation could be better, more crystal clear ! Needed are more and better diagrams with better labels that better differentiate a variety of setups!

Go to Systems Preferences and click on the Mouse icon. You have a choice of how fast you want to track, scroll and the double click speed. It also gives you some choices of one-finger and two-finger operations. Change the settings (maybe one at a time) and see what best fits you. What I have my mouse setting on are comfortable for me; they might not be comfortable for you. Try changing the settings in Systems Preferences until you come up with a configuration that meets your needs.
There is a "mouse" chapter in the "Everything Mac" manual that came with the computer. It has more information on use, settings, etc.

  • Where can I get a roller mouse for a "sunflower" iMac?

Where can I get a roller mouse for a "sunflower" iMac?

I believe that by the time the "Flower Power" and "Blue Dalmation" G3 models were released, the Apple Pro (optical) mouse was included, instead of the round (roller ball) mouse that shipped with earlier models.  The Pro mouse was seriously flawed by its flimsy cable and lack of a strain relief, to minimize stress on the cable from repetitious flexing where it exits the mouse.  Unless you're attempting to restore it to its original configuration, I would suggest buying a third-party USB mouse with a better cable design.

  • Is there available for iMac OS X version 10.4.11 700 MHz Power PC G4 a wireless keyboard and mouse combo?

Is there a wireless keyboard and mouse combo anywhere available for iMac OS X version 10.4.11 700 MHz Power PC?

All the keyboards I'm finding require built-in Bluetooth, something G3 iMacs don't have. So you'd need to start with a Bluetooth USB adaptor like this:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/IOGear/GBU321/
Its specs says it works with Mac OS 10.3.9 or newer. The you should ba able to add a wireless board and/or mouse IF you find one that has support for a Mac OS level older than 10.5 or an Intel processor. Most current boards require 10.5.8, and Intel processor, or both.
The cost for all this could easily be 4-5X the used market value of a G3 iMac so please think this through carefully. A long USB extension cable might be a better option fo such an old computer.
