Which multifunction Laser printer (MFP) for Lion? - need multipage scanning through automatic document feeder

Hi all,
I'd love to get your advice on what MFP laser printer to buy.
I need:
- Laser color PRINTING for a small business (+/- 1500 pages per month)
- SCANNING, preferably easy multipage scanning through the automatic document feeder
Optionally:
- 2nd paper feed tray
I think of buying the HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi, but there seem to be plenty of compatibility issues with Lion (e.g. scan to network folder does not work on Lion).
I'd love to hear about success or failure of MFP on Lion from HP, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, etc...
Thx for your advace,
S.

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

  • Which Colour Laser Printer/Scanner for Yosemite and Adobe Acrobat XI?

Since upgrading my mac to 10.10 my Epson DX4400 will not scan any more, even with the latest Epson driver update.
I need a better printer anyway, so I would like to replace it with a colour laser printer & scanner.  But I want to make sure I get one that will work with OSX 10.10.2 and Adobe Acrobat XI
    Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Need a WiFi laser printer recommendation for Lion and iOS

I'm looking to get a new printer.
    Here are my needs...
Home printing, maybe 10-20 pages per week
    Scanner built in
Laser (I'm tired of being bled dry with HP's $30 ink jet cartridges that last only a month or two). Color is not important
WiFi and reliable, at that...my current WiFI printer goes to sleep and doesn't wake up unless you go to the printer and press a button
    Budget $100-$200
While I don't regularly need to print from iDevices, if it did it would be nice, this is not a top priority.
I've done online searching and as soon as I see an attractive model, the ratings say "doesn't work with Lion"
    Thanks!

I was in the same boat some months ago, and went with Brother MFC 9120CN. Its a bit over budget but fantastic, just works. They have a BW version as well which should fit your budget. (Never try Samsung had to send 5! back to factory..)
    Hope that helps

  • Multifunction laser printer recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for a multifunction laser printer (print/copy/scan), color or monochrome that works well with the Imac 24. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sorry, like I mentioned, familiar with regular laser printers ,but not with the multifunction printers. We have a pretty cool multi-funct here at work, but we're all on PC's.
HP is pretty good about supporting drivers for all HP consumer and business printers. Plus the Mac OSX print driver is smart and very compatible as is with a variety of printer makes.
check out HP's website to see what's available. Not sure if you're looking for high capacity/output or more for personal use?

How do I get my HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dn to scan from the document feeder when initiated from the computer? The printer will scan from the document feeder if it is initiated from the small screen on the printer, however when I try to initiate from the computer it scans a blank page. The printer acknoledges that the document feeder is loaded.

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.

  • LaserJet Pro 300 color MFP automatic document feeder - page stops feeding with 1" to go

Scan page won't finish feeding when using the automatic document feeder.  Leaves approximately the last 1 to 2 inches of paper in the scanner. The Scan ADF Paper Jam error message pops up.  Seems like the page hangs/gets stuck  once the page passes through the document feeder roller assembly.  Haven't been able to find any information on what moves the paper through the scanner once it gets past this roller assembly.

  • Printing problems when using automatic document feeder (HP Photosmart 309C)

When I print using the normal paper trays, everything comes out fine.  However, when I feed a document through the automatic document feeder, it comes out with four vertical lines running down the page.  I have tried cleaning the rollers, but that has not worked.  Anyone have any ideas/solutions?  Thanks in advance, Jack.

I see that this post was made in June of 2010, but there was no reply. I found the solution elsewhere:
Lift the scanner lid. You will see the main glass and a small glass about the width of a ruler. There are a couple of dots of debris on that small glass. Line up the lines to find them and clean with a bit of glass cleaner on a rag or napkin. The reason a small dot makes a line is the paper passes by the scanner with adf rather than the scanner passing by the paper on flatbed scans.

  • Color Laser Printer - advice for student - compatible with Airport Express!

    Hi there!
In September my studies will start hier in Germany. I'm now looking for an Color Laser Printer as a birthday gift from my parents. For me the compatibility with my Airport Express is very important. The printing costs should be low, i prefer to spend more money on the printer once. I think a price between 400 and 600 Euros should be ok.
Could you give me some advices or tell me your experiences?
Sorry for my english, i know it's not the best;-)
    Greetings from Germany!

A very helpful guide as to which printers work with the airport express is here:

If it works on the quoted airport extreme, you should be good with the airport express
Hope that helps and good luck.

  • Any guess on how long it will take for HP to come up with laserjet printer drivers for LION?

HP does not have the printer drivers available for the Mac OSX 10.7 (LION) for the HP Laserjet 2420/2430 series; which has been true for previous OSX releases also?  Just wondering if it's 1-3 months, or more before our printers can be expected to work again.  Is it long enough to just abandon LION for a while, and go back to SnowLepard?

Since this is for an HP product support, you might want to visit their site:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us &prodNameId=412123&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=416419&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEn vOID=4082
They'll be able to estimate time of delivery better than Apple, who doesn't make HP drivers.

  • Epson Pro 3880 Print Driver for Lion?

Epson state in an article on their web-site entitled  "Mac OS X Lion Instructions (article 187366) that "Mac OS 10.6 drivers are compatible with Mac OS 10.7" Well, no they aren't, or not for my 3880 anyway. I specifically checked this out prior to installing Lion, and if I had known my 3880 wouldn't work, I would not have upgraded.
Is there any sort of work-around? If Epson's delays in getting compatible drivers when Snow Leopard came out are anything to go by, we could be in for a long wait.
When I asked Epson about this, they told me they only received Lion on the same day as it was released to the public. Can this be true?

Yep, same here.  For users upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7 Lion you will need to delete the printer from System Preferences, re-install the latest Epson 3880 driver (v6.6 as of today), add it back in System Preferences and you'll be golden.
    Thanks GageManning.

  • Epson Print CD for Lion

This is the link to upgrade the Epson printers to Lion, including Print CD.
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supportLion.jsp

Lion certainly has drivers for some Epson printers.  These will allow basic use of the printer.  Plugging your printer in and trying it will do no harm.
If you want the additional functions of ICC profiles and CD printing you will have to install the software that came with the printer or download it from the Epson support site.

  • Canon MF4207 MultiFunction Laser Printer won't work with TCP/IP

Bought this printer. Very cool. Great quality. Fast...
But, we can't even get a "ping" via TCP/IP. We're about to take it back. Looking at other threads, do Canon's not work with Mac's on networks (even though their documentation says they do)?
    Anyone with ideas?
Running both from a ether wired imac and a wireless powerbook. All on 10.4.?.
    Thanks
    Doug

First of all, Canon's designed for network printing do work. Most of the posts you have probably seen are for printers that haven't been designed for network printing, yet the users are still trying to configure them this way???
Looking at the manual, there a couple of things you need to do to print across a network.
As Kappy suggested, the first thing you need to do is configure the IP address of the MF4270. By default, the machine is set to DHCP, but if you don't have something on your network allocating addresses, then it will be set to all zero's.
Now you mention it won't ping, so we could make the assumption that you have set an appropriate IP address for your network and the machine is not responding. To be sure that you do have this set to the same subnet as your Mac network, print a User Data List.
    Additional Functions > 11. Report Settings > OK > 2. List Print > 9. User Data List > OK
This will show you the IP address and subnet mask. It will also show you if LPD and RAW (Port 9100) print services have been enabled.
If you do not have an appropriate IP address set, then you need to press Additional Functions and scroll to 12. System Settings.
Press OK and scroll to 2. Network Settings then press OK.
This will show TCP/IP Settings. Press OK.
Scroll to 1. IP Address Auto and press OK. It will show ON. Scroll so it shows OFF and then press OK.
Now scroll to 2. IP Address and press OK. This will show the current address. Using the numeric keypad enter the desired IP address for the printer. Press OK to complete.
Now scroll to 3. Subnet Mask and input the appropriate subnet mask and press OK.
Now you can press the Stop/Reset key to exit and maybe print another User Data list to ensure the settings you entered are correct.
Now that you have the IP address set, you need to install the Canon UFR2 v1.60 driver for Mac OS X. If this version didn't come with the machine you can download it from the Canon web site.
Once you have run this driver installer you are ready to add the printer. Open the Printer Setup Utility and select Add. Select More Printers. Now select 'Canon IP (UFR II)'. This will show a pane allowing you to enter the IP address of the printer. It also wants a queue name. Enter LP for the queue name. Click Add and wait as the driver software will now query the printer and auto select the appropriate ppd. Once this is complete the MF4270 will appear in the Printer List.
