Which multifunction printing for Leopard?

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for a new printer, in order to replace my old Lexmark X 4550 which has some connection problems with my MacBook.
So, I'm looking for a good and fast Wi-Fi mulifunction printer (scanner, printer, copier) which works perfectly on Mac OS X...
After some research, I found Canon MP 620, which seems to have problems with its Wi-Fi mode on Mac OS X...
Could someone suggest me a recent printer like that?
Thank you in advance!
Regards.

I think you will find that the problems reported about the MP620 connecting to wireless are often due to the person configuring the device, not the device itself. I would still recommend the MP620, or if your budget can stretch, then the MP980 is a very good AIO. I use this model as my personal printer/scanner in the office and so far it was worked very well on wireless.

  • What is the best multifunction printer for Mac?

I'm currently trying to choose a great multifunction printer for our small office and I need advice on what brands are "fully" compatible with Mac OSX 10.4 and higher. I would like to know what your experiences are with certain brands and models.
In my particular situation I have a list of requirements in order of importance:
    1. fully compatible with the Mac OSX 10.4 (and higher) operating system.
    2. affordable (that's very subjective but for me that would mean something below US$600)
    3. monochromatic laser printing
    4. network printing: LAN or wifi (wifi preferable? are there disadvantages?)
    5. duplex printing
    6. duplex copying
    7. +/- 30 ppm or cpm
    8. scan to ftp or to hard disk (without the need for additional software preferable)
    9. network scanning
    10. toner and drum in one
    11. faxing
Please also state what you found great with your machine.
Looking forward to reading your opinions.

I don't have a home office - nor do I have any experience in printers the way some reviewers do. When it comes to printing, all I care is that it actually prints and doesn't jam.
Printers are so inexpensive these days and my old printer was a great Cannon that did it's job - cost about 80 bucks when I purchased. Then I bought an iPad and tried ALL the free printing apps - and even paid for an app that swore it would work with any printer. NOPE.
So, when this printer came up to test - I jumped on it! WOW. Not only is it so easy to set up, even I can do it (didn't even need the disk). It prints anywhere from my iPad and my iPhone. I also love the double sided printing and never realized how much double siding printing I actually do. It's great for long recipes. The photo aspect of it is sharp and clear. I LOVE The scanner and though I rarely use a fax - it's nice to know it's available so I don't have to drive to my local media store. For the price - it's amazing.
It's also super fast compared to my Cannon and super quiet.
I've started recommending this to my friends - even though they may not do much printing - it's amazing how much you'll start printing once you have this super hero. Kind of like my Kindle - I read way more books now than I did when reading hard/paper backs!!!.

  • Which printer for Leopard....?

    Hi,
For reasons best known to apple and related to bootcamp, I had to upgrade to Leopard. Now, my HP 4255 all in one still exists as a printer in the eyes of my macbook, but printing from all programs has ceased: the job gets to the queue and stalls.
I have tried all of the resetting, Gimp Print, Gutenprint, Foomatic options I believe, but nothing. I understand this is an old printer and that it is unsupported in the new operating system, I also see the internet is littered with such storys. It transpires that the printer still happily chugs away by switching to windows of course, because i still use XP...
Can anybody suggest what Leopard will print to and scan from for a small (and I mean small...) home office? I would be delighted if there was an A3 option...
thanks guys, It's hard getting info out of apple, I'd be lost without the community of users....

  • Which multifunction printer

    I need a new mult-function printer (print/scan/copy - faxing is not required).
I'm considering the Canon PIXMA MP460, Canon PIXMA MP530, Canon PIXMA MP600, and the HP PhotoSmart C4180.
Can't find any of them listed on the iFelix list of printers (www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html). ARE any of them compatible with Airport Extreme networks?
Any insight? We have a G5 PowerMac (with an Airport card), a G4 Powerbook (sometimes 2), and our Airport Extreme Base Station is linked directly into the house cable line (we're on broadband cable for internet access).

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

Anyone with recommendations for best wireless MFP for Macs <$100.  Would like to be able to print photos too.  Need EASY set up.  Prefer two paper cartridges.  Would like to be able to print from iPad, iPhone, Laptop and Mac.  Also need to fax.

  • Which multifunction Laser printer (MFP) for Lion? - need multipage scanning through automatic document feeder

    Hi all,
I'd love to get your advice on what MFP laser printer to buy.
    I need:
    - Laser color PRINTING for a small business (+/- 1500 pages per month)
    - SCANNING, preferably easy multipage scanning through the automatic document feeder
    Optionally:
    - 2nd paper feed tray
I think of buying the HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi, but there seem to be plenty of compatibility issues with Lion (e.g. scan to network folder does not work on Lion).
I'd love to hear about success or failure of MFP on Lion from HP, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, etc...
    Thx for your advace,
    S.

  • What printer and fax modem for leopard

Since updating to leopard I`m having a lot of trouble with my Canon MP 780. I have tried new drivers and everything else I can think of including reading these forms for a solution ever since leopard was released. It seems to me that apple forgot all about faxing and printing when they developed leopard. So my question is, is there a multifunction printer that works well with leopard. Seems nothing can save my MP 780. Also I need a fax modem but it seems they are far and few between that play nice with leopard. A few suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It seems as though leopard is apple`s Vista when it comes to printing and faxing. Sorry I`m just really tired of this.

I'm using a HP Officejet 7780 which works great, the bad news is it was recently replaced by the OfficeJet 8500 series AIO. HP make 3 versions:
    1. Base model with ethernet & USB connections
    2. OJPro 8500 Wi-Fi with touch screen, wi-fi (in additition to ethernet and USB connections) & duplexing
    3. OJPro 8500 Premier with touch screen, wi-fi, duplexing, touch screen, dual paper trays and 2 complete sets of ink, legal size scanning etc.
The new OJ 8500 series also uses ink that is designed to be water resistant and offer a lower cost of printing than a similarly priced laser printers.

  • I have a canon MX7600 multifunction printer. My security setting allow connection with the printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine. If the firewall is running I get a dialog box every time I print asking for permission. How do I fix this?

I have a canon MX 7600 multifunction printer. Each  time I print I get a dialog box asking for permission to allow connections to the printer. This box stays on my screen for a few seconds, if I don't click allow I get a communication error which then requires me to delete the job and start over. I contacted Canon and proceeded with their suggestions to no avail. They now say it is an Apple issue. My security settings are set to allow connection to the canon printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine, once I enable the firewall the problem returns.  This issue is a royal pain. Any suggestions on how to fix it short of buying a new printer?

        jsavage9621,
It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Which printer for my Mac (and Windows 7 PCs)?

Our printer just died and I need to purchase one tomorrow. I'll be buying it locally (not from the internet, etc.) and I've narrowed it down to these models so far:
    Epson Stylus SX525WD
    Manufacturer's website
    Brother DCP-J715W
    Manufacturer's website
    HP Photosmart Wireless eAiO
    Manufacturer's website
    Canon MFC Pixma MP499
    Manufacturer's website
    HP Deskjet 2050 AiO
    Manufacturer's website
    My primary concerns are:
    1) scanning; I'm not too worried about getting the printer to work on my Mac, but I'd like to be able to use the device to scan from my MBP running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, without VueScan (which I tried and dislike very much) - so either with Image Capture or with software provided by the vendor, if it's any good.
    2) Wi-Fi; most models listed feature Wi-Fi (except the Deskjet 2050 AiO, AFAICT) - I've never had Wi-Fi printing before so I'm unsure of what issues to expect - I figure maybe some printers will be easier to setup with a Mac and/or work better. It'd be nice if the scan function could work wirelessly too, though it's no big deal if it doesn't.
    3) photo printing; the printer will be used to print photos occasionally, so it'd be nice if the printer offered a good photo printing experience (sorry I can't be more specific - I'm not the one using the printer for photos).
Also, if you have one of these printers (or an equivalent model), I'd be very interested in your impressions of the printer.
Edit: removed a printer which turned out to be only available online

Well, I managed to get the printer to connect to my AirPort Extreme base station (was fairly straightforward).
Then I wasn't sure how to install the wireless printer with built-in OS X tools, so I ended up using the disc that came with the printer. Installed fine, and I can print and scan wirelessly

  • Which new inkjet printer for my iMac early 2008?

I need a new inkjet printer for my iMac early 2008 (until now I use an old Epson Stylus Photo 1200 which now is going to its end of life).
Which printer would you choose, especially for photo prints?
    Thanks for your answers! :-)

I should have mentioned that I may have the same computer you have  - a late (December) 2007 iMac.  I continue to run 10.4.11 Tiger because of some antiquated software I use that is not compatible with later operating systems.  An additional thing I like about the Canon is its five individual ink tanks.  When one color runs out, I just change out that one cartridge and keep going.

  • Which version of Snow Leopard to buy for a clean, non-upgrade installation?

I have a MacBook Pro 13”3, Mid 2009, I am the second owner. The computer was originally bought with OS X Leopard and later upgraded to Snow Leopard.
The previous owner does not have any installation discs, so I have to start from scratch.
My question is, which version of Snow Leopard do I need to buy, so I will be able to legally make a clean, stand-alone, non-upgrade installation?
Here are two I found at sites of different Apple Retailers:
    1. Mac Box Set (Including OS X Snow Leopard, iLife 09, iWork09) Single User Pack
    2. Apple Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard Operating System (Family Pack)
I have been told by a salesperson that the “Apple Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard Operating System (Single User)” cannot be purchased in Europe anymore.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thank you for your input.
I agree that the disks should have been included, but it is what it is, sadly.
I've been looking for the retail version of Snow Leopard, but can't seem to find it. Amazon UK, for example, lists it as unavailable:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/MAC-10-6-3-SNOW-LEOPARD-RETAIL/dp/B003HAFZQO/ref=sr_1_11 ?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1314374218&sr=1-11
If I buy the Family Pack, which is still available at some European stores, will I be OK, license-wise?
It is still much cheaper than the full Mac Box Set.
