Which network effective route for KM repository ?

Our portal (Knowledge Management) server is located (at Location A) physically far apart  from our remote offices (Location B) due to which we are concerned of network bandwidth, latency delays while accessing huge files of 40 / 60MB from a DB repository in portal (Location A) over the WAN from Location B.
Will creating an FSDB, or DBFS portal repository pointing to a remote file share at remote offices (Location B) eliminate the long network path ?
User at Location B requests for a resource in portal FSDB OR DBFS repository. Will the resource (40MB file) be retrieved directly from Location B remote share to the user at Location B or will it traverse from Location B to Location A (Portal) & then back to Location B (remote user), thus creating a redundant network path ?

Hi Muhammed,
There would always be latency and performance related issues when users are accessing files or applications over the WAN. The issues would be more conspicuous when large files in KM are accessed  from a DB repository over WAN connections. One way to handle this is through SAP's Accelerated Application Delivery . This tool address the issues of latency and/or performance  which are of concern when applications are accessed from remote locations.
Refer the following links to get an idea about Accelerated Application Delivery:

Which network is the best for pay as you go in the UK

The only network in the UK where you get all the facilities of the iphone active is o2, none of the rest support visual voice mail and with the new o2 contracts the personal hotspot is included in tarriff.  On older contracts you need a tethering bolt on but at least you can still use it.

  • Which network to chose for iPad?

I want to use iPad for SkyDemon GPS map. Does it matter which network provider iPad I buy? (A/T) (Verizon) (Orange) (o2) ?
I won't really use that network just want the GPS, but if I decide to use it, if I buy the Verizon one does that mean that's the only card I can use and can't use any others?

    This doesn't make sense.
A Network Provider provides Cellular service.
So an iPad with a Network Provider has cellular hardware.
While you do not need an active Cellular service contract to use the GPS, you do need to buy a Cellular capable iPad.

  • Which is better for Branch Office Cisco ASA or Cisco 1900 router for Branch Office?

Which is a better solution ?
Using ASA55XX or 1900 series router for WAN and Internet access for 25 - 100 users?

Without knowing more about the environment and what the real requirements are, it is difficult to give a really good answer. If your main concern is effective stateful inspection of traffic entering and leaving the site then the ASA is optimized for that. If you want redundancy (active/active or active/standby) then the ASA is better for this. There are other potential requirements which may make the router the better choice:
    - what is the connection to the Internet? If it is Ethernet then either ASA or router will do fine. But if it is something other than Ethernet then you may need the router.
    - is there a need for services such as Policy Based Routing? These are available on the router and not on the ASA.
    - is there a need for load balancing on outbound traffic? This is available on the router and not on the ASA.
    - will there be a need to do routing on the inside network? The range of available options is wider on the router than on the ASA.
    - is there a need to run a routing protocol with the Internet provider? The usual choice for this is BGP and that is available on router and not on ASA.
So consider these criteria as you make your choice. Or provide more detail about your environment and what your real requirements are and we may be able to give better advice.

I have a tesco router and an external hard drive attached to it as a network drive (shared) for my macbook and MB-Air. Have no problems with my MB accessing it, but with MB-AIR it says -  'the version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. pls contact your system administrator to resolve the problem'. MB-Air uses maverick downloaded yesterday - upgrade from mountain lion. MB uses snow leopard still, as i am quite used to it and am thinking of upgrade if mavericks work fine on air. Also have parallel on snow leopard but it is no longer supported according to mac website - if i upgrade am i going to lose my parallel and will have to buy a new one!!!

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • I need free network analyzer software for my mac. we are trying to monitor what software may be running which is causing our internet to fail, although the internet is still coming into our modem.what is recommended?

My internet keeps 'tripping' at or around the same period time each day.  We have already replaced our modem from our internet provider and we bought a new airport extreme router. We do not believe these were the cause, although we have now ruled them out as a cause.  Everytime the internet fails, our internet provider company tells us that there is still plenty of signal coming into our house. There is something going on inside we believe, and a technician set up our Network Utility to run a continuous ping test to capture information about when it 'trips' againn.  Yesterday, it happened again, and when he checked the data out, he said he is sure there is something 'running in the background' on my IMac.  He advised me to download a free Network Analyzer so he could further investigate what is was that was causing the problem, so I need a free network analyzer software for my Mac. The issue has been going on for a long time, so it is not the new operating system, Lion. This morning, we changed the radio channel from 'auto' to 'manual' and set a new channel, hoping that might help. We are trying to find out what program may be running (even a tiny one in the background) which is causing our internet to fail, although the internet is still coming into our modem. What is free downloadable product is recommended?

Will Activity Monitor and/or Network Utility, both already in the Utilities folder on your Mac, help in trying to diagnose the problem.
If you are connecting via wifi what encryption are you using? If you're using the Exteme I doubt that you are using WEP, but worth checking as it seems Macs don't like it and work better using WPA.

  • Proper routing for lan through verizon private network (GRE) to airlink gateways

Okay, I give up, and think I have done my due diligence (I have been engrossed and fascinated spending many more hours than allotted to try and learn some of the finer details).  Time for some advice.  My usual trade is controls engineering which generally require only basic knowledge of networking principals.  However I recently took a job to integrate 100 or so lift stations scattered around a county into a central SCADA system.  I decided to use cellular technology to connect these remote sites back to the main SCADA system.  Well the infrastructure is now in and it’s time to get these things talking.  Basic topology description is as follows:  Each remote site has an Airlink LS300 gateway.  Attached to the gateway via Ethernet is a system controller that I will be polling via Modbus TCP from the main SCADA system.  The Airlinks are provisioned by Verizon utilizing a private network with static IP's.  This private networks address is 192.168.1.0/24.  Back at the central office the SCADA computer is sitting behind a Cisco 2911.  The LAN address of the central office is 192.168.11.0/24.  The 2911 is utilizing GRE tunnels that terminate with Verizon.  The original turn up was done with another contractor that did a basic config of the router which you will find below.  As it stands now I am pretty confident the tunnels are up and working (if I change a local computers subnet to 255.255.0.0 I can surprisingly reach the airlinks in the field), but this is obviously not the right way to solve the problem, not to mention I was unable to successfully poll the end devices on the other side of the Airlinks.  I think I understand just about every part of the config below and think it is just missing a few items to be complete.  I would greatly appreciate anyone’s help in getting this set up correctly.  I also have a few questions about the set up that still don’t make sense to me, you will find them below the config.  Thanks in advance.

    ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.0.0 22.20.19.19
That should allow my internal LAN to reach the Airlink gateways on the other side of the tunnel (I think)
Now for a couple of questions for those that are still actually hanging around.
#1 what is the purpose of the Ethernet address assigned to each tunnel?  I only see them being used in the BGP section where they are receiving routing tables from the Verizon side (is that correct?).  Why wouldn't or couldn't you just use the physical Ethernet address interface in its place (in the BGP section)?
#2 is the config above correct in pointing the default route to the physical Ethernet address?  Does that force the packets into the tunnel, or shouldn’t you be pointing it towards the tunnel IP's (172.16.200.2)?  If the config above is correct then I should not need to add the route I described above as if I ping out to 192.168.1.X that should catch it and force it into the tunnel where Verizon would pick it up and know how to get it to its destination??
#3 Will I need to add another permit to the VZW_VPN for TCP as in the end I need to be able to poll via Modbus which uses port 502 TCP.  Or is TCP implicit in some way with the GRE permit?
I actually have alot more questions, but I will keep reading for now.
I really appreciate the time you all took to trudge through this.  Also please feel free to point anything else out that I may have missed or that can be improved.  Have a great day!

My first comment is that you have two posts in this forum and as far as I can tell they are exact duplicates, other than changing the title of the posts. It is better to figure what you want to ask and then to ask once.
My second comment is that you have given us information about your central site. At some point we may also need some information about what is at the remote and how that is set up. But for now we will deal with what we know about your site.
Before I deal with your specific questions I will comment that if you are able to access the remote airlinks that it is a pretty good indicator that the tunnels are probably working. But to understand the significance of this it would help if you clarify for us what address is on the local computer when you change the subnet to 255.255.0.0.
Also what you have shown us allows us to see that BGP is configured but provides no insight into whether BGP is working or now. It would provide helpful information if you would post the output of show ip bgp sum.
So to address your specific questions:
You suggest that adding a static route for 192.168.1.0 might be part of the solution. But we have no information about what that network is or its significance. So we have no way to know whether the static route would help or not. But my guess (based on very scant information and therefore based mostly on assumptions) is that if BGP is working correctly that the static route is not needed.
    1) asks about an Ethernet address on the tunnel. I assume that you really meant to ask about the IP address assigned to the tunnel. The reason that the tunnel needs it own IP address is that we want a unique subnet assigned to the tunnel. If we used the address from the physical interface as you suggest then both tunnels would have the same address and that implies that they both connect to the same place, and that assumption is not correct.
    2) Yes it is correct to point the default route to the IP address that is the next hop from the Ethernet interface. You might want to have a route pointing at the tunnel address for remote subnets reached via the tunnel. But in looking at the config and trying to understand what was intended it is pretty obvious that running BGP over the tunnel is intended to learn the remote addresses over the tunnel and therefore there is no need for static routes for the remote resources.
    3) You should not need an additional permit for TCP 402. The TCP packet will be carried through the tunnel and the access list you are referring to will see the packet will modbus polling as GRE traffic and not as TCP traffic.

I'm trying to create a 'corporate' talking head web video look.
Which FCP effects are most useful for this?
On the one hand, I don't want to do effects just for the sake of doing effects, and distract from the message.
On the other hand, if it doesn't look interesting, the viewer isn't going to stick around for 30 seconds.
On the videoSellsYourMessage.com site, I've got a video on the Audio Visual tab with a race car background and sound effects along with text fade-ins and fade-outs.
Very simple and almost seems to work.
But, on the front page of that site, the abstract background just doesn't seem to cut it.
Besides needing to be re-shot with a less sleep deprived model, it's just lacking something (uh, like talent and creativity) - although the motion graphics & vocals at the end are maybe getting close?
Which FCP effects add to the message, rather than distract?
I'd love to see examples of what could be done with taking head commercial videos by a professionals using FCP.
    Thanks!

Basically, Andy is right. Bottom line...content is king. If the message is humdrum, you're in for some real creative brainstorming.
There are so many ways to approach this challenge. What should drive your creative, is an understanding of the 'Brand' you're promoting.
    Elements to consider:
    Tone and Style
    Color palette
    Font selection
    Pacing and edit flow.
What 'Promise' does the brand hold for the consumer?
Do you have access to corporate Broll or graphics that can help emphasize (sell) the message. That's the first thing I would look for. Use these to cut away from the straight up talking head.
Do you have the ability to create graphics or have someone on staff who can do this. If the corporation in question has a logo, graphics, website...you should use those elements to drive your creative choices...all chosen in order to re-inforce the 'Brand'.
Whizz-bang graphics, fast paced audio/visual cuts and vibrant colors might be great for the MTV generation, but if your product is geared towards 35-50 females, then you would tone things down. Or if the audience is 40 - 60 business types, you'd want visuals that projected confidence and stability...etc.
I don't think that answered your query, but (if you weren't already aware of the above blathering), I'm hopeful it will help guide you in your creative process.

The invoice was paid on 27 March 2009.It appears that the invoice has now again routed for approval, and was rejected on 17 April by Mr. DAVE F VENTURA. The rejection notification (attached) which Norma received, indicates that the invoice was rejected on 15 April 2009. How can an invoice which has been paid, route for approval again, and why is there a difference in the rejected dates as indicated on the approval history and the notification?
