I have an MBP with the next geneeration of the Intel grpahics and the AMD discrete graphics and like both. Daughter just got a new MBP with the same Intel graphics and the next generation of the AMD as a replacement for her 2009 MBP. Likes the Intel better than what was in that old MBP...and she is a senior art director at a large ad firm.
If you can, it would be best to see the two machines side-by-side to compare the graphics.

Is the following not working for you?
For computers:
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.

Just bought a new iPhone 5 and wanted to send pics from my camera roll on my iphone 4 as a shared photo stream to my new phone and my wife's phone.
I selected the pictures and created the photo stream and it showed up on my new phone and she was able to accept invite, but when opened the stream contained 0 photos and a message that says "No Shared Photos"
These pictures were admitedly older than 30 days. Is that the rule that pictures from your camera roll older than 30 days cannot be shared as photo stream?
I apprecaite all guidance on this issue. For those answering - yes everything else photostream wise is connected and working so there's no issue with setup - my question simply is can a user upload photos older than 30 days from the camera roll to a shared photostream?

30 days is only applicable to My photostream and even then it applies from the time they were added not mwhen they were taken (unless it's the same time)
I'd be inclined to restart your wife's phone and see if that helps, otherwise you might try turning photostream off and on again on her phone.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

2) backend triggered
3) backend pushes instance to DOE.

Actually there are only two types of Synchronization types between Backend & DOE,
1. DOE Triggered
2. Backend Triggered
DOE triggered adapters will pull the data from Backend to DOE where as Backend triggered adapters will push the data from Backend to DOE (there are two types in BE triggered, Key push & Instance push).
Backend triggered sync type is always better since the changes have been pushed to the DOE then & there (this can be achieved by event,etc..). So that always DOE & Backend will be consistent & the receivers (devices) will also get the latest data in order to proceed with their day to day activities (i.e. business critical data).

I have a 2008 Macbook, with the mini displayport that can't output audio. I decided to rectify this by buying this cable, which combines video from mini displayport and audio from USB into an HDMI cable:

should I go ahead and get the upgrade? I figure it would be an improvement since those give better quality audio. I'm also wondering how my current cable would perform when plugged into a MDP that send audio on its own. could that cause a problem, since I would be out putting audio through 2 ports into the same cable? also, I wonder if the newer cables might have any problems due to getting power from the MDP instead of USB, I don't know whether that makes a difference or not.

It doesn't matter which one you get since the Atom CPU has a 667MHz FSB.
If you install 800MHz RAM, it will simply run at 667MHz.

I have my I-tune library on one computer and want to move it to another, these computers are not Mac

I have my iTune library in one computer and want to move it to anoher computer. I can use home-share, but that works only when the original computer is online. So that is really not a solution. My question is how do I move from my old to my new computer? Both these computer have Windows and operating system.

Upgrading HD for Sample Streaming: Which of these is better?

Hello everyone,
I'm in the market for a larger internal SATA drive for sample streaming in Logic. I currently have a Seagate 320GB drive, but NO backup drive! So I'm thinking of using the 320GB as my backup and getting a larger, 500GB sample drive. Should I do this, or do larger drives have problems streaming samples? If yes, which of these would be better suited for sample streaming.

I recently boght a Seagate Barracuda to try it out, mainly for archiving but found it so fast that I got a second as a new audio drive. I now have two of these in my Mac Pro and it flies.
One warning, however. In the UK, they're shipped with a jumper on, which restricts the speed to 1.5, not 3.0 Gbps. Just remove it and you'll get the machine flying at full speed. I don't know why Seagate do this but it's even documented on the drive case (check out the schematic above the jumpers bay). May be the same in the States but it's easy to check. It comes with only the one jumper (no master/slave as on old IDE drives) and remove it so there are none. Fixed.

Which of these Macs would be a better machine?

I am at the crossroads of getting a new Mac and I have two choices. Pretending everything else between the macs is equal besides what I am about to describe, which of these would be better?
Choice 1. 15" Macbook Pro w/ 2.16 Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of memory
or
Choice 2. 13" current issue 2 GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook w/ 4 GB of memory
Why would the one you pick be better over the other?

You are correct that many MBP owners have no problems and that the MBP is a better machine. I too had no problems for the first year and then within two months I have been plagued with unproductive days dealing with a computer that doesn't work. The issue is that for those of us that have these problems there doesn't seem to be a fix even with Applecare. There seems to be a trend with keyboard issues and Apple has not figured it out and provided a reasonable fix. If I spend the money and get a new keyboard I may be looking at the same problem if the keyboards are flawed. If you make your living with your computer sending it in to Apple for a week or two to get a problem fixed is not a great solution. I just think that the chance of getting a lemon in the MBP line should be factored into the decision. Maybe a new MBP has these problems worked out but to buy an older used MBP from the same vintage as mine would be unwise in my opinion.

How do I check the iTunes store to see which of my computers are authorized? I have just sold one of my computers and forgot to deauthorize it. Actually, I am not sure it was even authorized. Before I contact the buyer and ask if they will meet so I can deauth, how can I check the iTunes store to confirm that it is or is not authorized?

You can't yourself; you can only check the number of authorized computers and deduct the number of machines you know are authorized.

I sometimes hear about people implementing their entity bean persistence using JDO, but it would make a LOT more sense to me to front entity beans with a JDO interface. Entity beans provide a good mechanism for handling transactions, caching, etc., while JDO provides a very simple persistence interface.

The reason I ask this is that Iv been transferring data from my old 350 G4 to my new Mac Book Via Fire wire (G4 in target mode) and Iv had some crashes with the Finder. This pretty much never happened with my old Mac. Force quitting does not save me like it use to if an app crashed. It just goes into a spin and stays there, thinking. Reminds me of Windows XP.
Any Ideas. Thoughts. Etc.

I would say it's a subjective answer based on use. Be glad that you have a machine that supports target mode. My B&W is a nightmare for transfers. The only irritating crashes I've had are the same as with any of my machines (Safari), which is probably due to a plugin.
I have had the experience of force quitting not quitting an application. A kill -9 doing the same thing. It looks like force quitting does quit the problem applications (processor usage drops back down), but they stay active in the dock. A restart functioned normally for me and that went away. The only applications this happens with were popcorn 2 and toast 7.1. Both of those are PPC apps that just made the intel transition and basically device drivers..so I would almost expect them to have been problematic. Everything else has been basically fine.
As to what's better. Security wise, there might be some concern about the Out-of-order execution distribution system of the PPC vs x86. PPC could be considered slightly more secure as it is difficult to gain data from the stack w/o being able to accurately predict the position. However, this is trivial first and is probably remedied a lot by the dual core setup....and it requires a level of access that Mac OS X doesn't just give up to anyone. When you get to performance...to me it's night and day.
I like to put a lot of my video content on my machine in a highly compressed state. It makes it convenient to watch movies or a series and you don't need to have a loud optical drive spinning around. If I was to use something like Handbrake or Instant Handbrake: http://handbrake.m0k.org/ to encode to h.264 on a G5 it would take long enough that I would have to go do something else. On the dual core chips it's almost unbelievable. It's not that the 950 chipset does hardware h.264 encoding (I know some ATI 1xxx cards have this capability, but the only intel data http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/ I've seen indicate MPEG-2 playback is the highest video optimization ), it's that SSE(1,2,3) on a dual core processor with an application designed for multiple cores/processors (not the same physically, but application wise it's close enough), flies. We're talking something going from 7 fps to 48 fps (better than real time).
There is definitely a Wow factor to these machines. Maybe you just need to try something like that to find it.
I think the instability is due to transitional software. Another thing you may want to consider is that many included applications and parts of Mac OS X aren't pushing the chips anywhere near the limit. Many things just use 100 of 200% . Wait a while and more things will be introduced or updated that make your new machine fly.
I haven't had a finder crash that I recall. Nor a beach ball I couldn't get out of. If it is just limited to the dock (as it appears to be for me), then it's a minor issue. There have been comments about the Rosetta process translated quitting (IIRC), and I will add that twice I have experienced a situation where PPC apps bounced w/o launching. A restart fixed that.
Windows isn't that bad. Even on a core duo (not a centrino duo Tiger is still easier to stabilize/ 'more stable'.
I think a lot of the issues you are having are just growing pains and transfer of apps or files that, while they may have been updated to 'universal binary', aren't designed for the chips in these machines from the ground up.
Give it some time and try some of the things that make these machines better, because subjectively...I think these machines are better.
Another idea...running PPC apps takes a LOT of memory for speed (otherwise you're paging like a maniac) so either up your machines memory or run one PPC app at a time.

E2500 no better than WRT120N

I was having connection problems with my 18 month old WRT120N. I called Tech Support and was told it needed firmware (currently 1.0.01.03) upgrade and it is out of warrantee, but if I spent about $60.00 I could get support to help me fix it. The Agent suggested spending $90.00 for a new E2500 which would cover my entire 2 level 2,800 square foot home, it is actually no better than the WRT120N!
From what I know after searching the Internet I can probably do the firmware myself.
Once I get the firmware updated is there a way to use the WRT120N wirelessly to extend the range of the E2500?

Two Linksys routers cannot be connected as wirelessly as they do not have the repeater mode functionality… But it can be connected with the cable with each other…
There are two ways to cascade a Linksys router to another Linksys router:
1. LAN to LAN – Connecting one of the Ethernet ports (LAN ports) of the second Linksys router to one of the Ethernet ports (LAN ports) of the main Linksys router.
This connection makes the computers connected to both routers to be on the same LAN IP segment. This will allow sharing of resources within the network.
2. LAN to WAN – Connecting one of the Ethernet ports (LAN ports) of the main Linksys router to the Internet port (WAN port) of the second Linksys router.
This connection makes it easier to identify which router the computers are connected to since they will have different LAN IP segments.

Pre "Rendering Preview" colours are better - why does LR make it worse?

Hi guys
When I upload a photo for the first time and then view its larger preview for the first time. When lightroom is generating its preview, it takes a second to generate it. When it generates the preview, the colours that it generates arn't as good as the first image of the photo you see. The photo changes colour after its generating the larger preview... and the generated colours are not as good.
Why does this occur. In all cases the colour of the photo prior to the preview being rendered are better than the colours once it has finished generating.

Yes and No. The profile is not chosen based on what you were shooting with (this only affects your JPGs), but based on the default, which is Adobe Standard (see also below). But switching it gives you another point to start your editing on.
Also I have a fair few photos that I would like to change back from "Adobe Standard" to "Camera Faithful" is there any way to do this on mass?
1) To change multiple photos to a specific profile:
In Develop:
Set one photo to the desired profile
Select all additional images to have the same profile in the film strip (Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click)
Press Sync...
Deselect all settings but Calibration
Hit Synchronize
2) To make a certain profile default for all imports for a specific camera type:
Set one photo to the desired profile (do not alter any other parameters, as they will be set as default also)
Press Alt and click on Set Default ...
Hit Update to Current Settings
Note: The Defaults set this way are valid for imports for a specific Camera Model, limited to a Camera Serial-No. and/or ISO Setting, depending on your settings in Preferences/Presets.
Lastly, are the colour profiles better in LR 3...
Somebody else will have to answer for this question, I think they are basically the same, but the underlying algorithm has been vastly improved. Btw, "better" is a generally a bad word when refering to camera profiles. You'll find lots of posts here regarding this subject, e.g. here.
