Which Oracle Certification Should I Start With

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on which Oracle certification I should start with. Let me first tell you about me and my business goals. I an new to the SQL world but have a firm grasp of the RDBMS. I have also worked as a Business Analyst for a company that is doing an Oracle upgrade including the EBS. I have had to do some very basic queries. My business goal is to improve my Oracle database skills.
I would like to add Business (Data) Analyst to my job description some day. I would like to be both a Business Analyst and a Business Data Analyst. I have been asked to work as a jr. DBA in the past, and would like to continue to pursue those options. Currently, my work seems to evolve around Oracle as opposed to the other businesses out there.
Given this information, which certification would you recommend I start with. Please let me know if you require additional information. This is my long term business goal so I will take as much time as needed to get it done. I was thinking I should start with *1Z0-051 SQL Fundamentals I* (11g). Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance!

Any thoughts? You could get this certificate as a first steps. If you want to be expert on dba subjects than you need to go OCA and OCP certification path.
If you get to Business Analyst than you can go wiht ebs certification

But dont forget those subjects are different from eachother and need different skills to become senior on those subjects
Hope it helps

What apple certification should I start with?
I am confused with which certifications I should work on first to be able to work as a technician and application support individual.

I would start with the basic Mac Integration. It's a quick and easy test to see if you know the basics. If you can pass this, then move foward from there.
Do you plan on taking clases or self study?

  • Should I start with Entity Object or Java Class Diagram ??

    Hi,
I come to J2EE / OO application development from non-oo programming world. I am still confused about what step-by-step development approach should I take ?
    Should I :
    - start with creating Entity Object from available database table ?
    - should I start with Java class diagram, followed by generating database tables, then create EO from it ?
Could anybody please help me, what best practice step by step development approach should I take ?
Is there any white paper / docs about this ?
    Thank you for your help,
    Krist

    Krist,
If you are not from the OO world then you may be interested in this new site on OTN (http://otn.oracle.com/formsdesignerj2ee) There is a workshop that starts by looking at an existing datamodel and builds up from there.
If you are starting from nothing, you can indeed start higher at the Class Model level.
I recently started discussing data modeling on my blog (http://www.groundside.com/blog/content/SueHarper/) and there are some very good comments(feedback from readers) that may possibly be useful to you.
If you are new to the UML modeling world, I recommend you read two very good papers by Jan Kettenis on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/collateral10g.html) They are Getting Strted with UML Class modeling and Getting Started with UML Use Case Modeling.
Shay pointed you to Toplink. There are a lot of resources on OTN for Toplink, including tutorials.
Personally? I think if you have time, and if you can, start with a Class Model and perhaps a Use Case model, then you can start planning your application development from a solid base.
    Regards
    Sue Harper

  • How should i start with web dyn pro abap

    Hi,
I have been working on webdynpro java now i would like to start working on webdynpro abap
could any one tel me how should i start with it.. pdfs, blogs would surely help??
i do have sufficient knowledge of abap too..
some brief idea about what is "web dynpro for abap" would surely help me
    Thank u in advance...

    hi,
please do a search before posting for basic questions, i searched the same and got around 700 hit.
    any ways check these links.
As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.

  • Which wattage adapter should I use with the composite cable with my iPad?

Which wattage adapter should I use with the composite cable when connected to my iPad while watching T. V. .

Ultimately, use the power adapter that came with the iPad. But you should use any USB based power adapter that has a 10 watt/ 2 amp or higher power rating. Look close when buying a thrid party adapter, if it does not specify 10 watts/2 amps it is a lower 5 watt/1 amp charger that will not work.

  • [Need Help] Which rMBP congifguration should i settle with for College ?

    So i need so guideance ;
i am planning on purchasing a rMBP for my college carreer and as many are, i am stuck with the configuration page.
    - i am VERY concerned with the longevity of my investment, i want it to last me at least four years
    - i am a stickler for immediate responsivness of my machine. if i turn on, start up, power off, open an application, there must be NO delay.
im set on purchasing a 13 inch , and its uses will entail writing papers, long periods of usage (8+ hrs) surfing the web, maybe playing some java games and what not.
    should i go with a
    256 GB SSD 8GB RAM
    256 GB SSD 16GB RAM
    512 GB SSD 8GB RAM ?
    do i really need 16 GB RAM and a 512 SSD ?
i dont know which configuration would satisfy my conditions. im familiar with computers and hardware and im not concerned with the integrated GPU , or the dual core i5 vs the quad core i7
and do these upgrades justify the price hike ?
id really appreciate some feed back.

    1. Enterprise, about the same dl as personal, so why not.
    2. Win2k Pro will do nicely(dont bother with Server, unless u need server for other purposes as well)
    3. JDeveloper is good, however as a newbie i think u should start out in notepad or alike.

  • Which Macbook Air should I go with?

I want to get an 11 inch Macbook Air, but do not know which one I should get.  Do you think the $999 Air (1.6ghz i5 processor, 2GB memory, 64GB flash storage) will be efficient using final cut and adobe illustrator? I create small video clips/highlights, slideshows and edit photos for my job a lot.  Or Should I get a more expensive air like the $1,199 (1.6ghz i5 processor, 4GB memory, 128GB flash storage)? Or even an upgraded Air with 1.8ghz, i7 processor, 256GB flash storage?  I will NOT use this computer to store music or any other types of media other than short video clips and photos.  I also have a large external hard drive to store any work I am finished with.  I'm on the road a lot so I need something small.  Thank you for your help!

Get a a model with 4gb of ram. You can't upgrade it once you've bought the laptop (it's soldered to the main board) and OS X Lion uses a lot of ram. 2gb will work, but it can become painfully slow at times, specially when you edit videos or photos.
The $1,199 model you quoted seems to be the best choice for what you need.

  • Which Oracle products should we use?

We are looking to build, from the ground up, a site that is roughly a combination of www.kudzu.com and www.accessatlanta.com. Which Oracle products would help us best develop, test, and implement a similar solution.
The primary confusion for me is whether the Portal product would be a good fit, or whether some other product(s) would be better.
Many thanks in advance for any and all input.

First, thank you VERY much for your reply. This post has received lots of views but no comments until yours. I appreciate your taking the time to offer a bit of advice and assistance.
If I understand correctly, you're suggesting developing the whole thing using J2EE rather than a product like Oracle Portal. I assume we would still be able to deploy using components of Oracle Application Server. Is this correct?
Ultimately, this portal website will be very database centric. All of the ads, listings, content, etc., would have to be stored and managed using a database. Would using J2EE be the most effective way to accomplish that?
I'm sorry if I seem a bit of a newbie. I know enough that I want to use Oracle technology, but not enough to know which products. Essentially, I'm the guy with the idea and I need some assistance figuring out the products so I know which product expertise to look for when hiring the right technical staff.
If you have any additional thoughts, please share. In the meantime, thanks again for your response.

  • Which Oracle client to use? with CRS2008 on Windows 2008 R2 64bit

    Hi,
We are setting up a standalone Crystal Reports 2008 Server on Windows 2008 R2 64bit. This server will serve some reports that will pull data from an Oracle 11g DB. Several Oracle 10g/11g, (32bit or 64bit) DB client has been tried, but CRS cannot connect to the oracle DB using any of them. Which oracle client is known to be working well on this setup?
    CRS 2008 <> Windows 2008 R2 64 bit <> Xeon E5600 series machine
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello,
    CRS2008 v1 supports Oracle 9.2, 10g R1, 10G R2 and 11g R1.
The client to use on those version are the same as the server meaning if you have a 11g R1 server then you can use an Oracle Net Client 11G R1. But you can use also a JDBC, ODBC, OLEDB Oracle 11G R1.
    If you have a CRS2008 v0, then Oracle 11G is not supported. Only 9.2, 10g R1 and 10G R2.
I hope this will help you
    Regards,
    Philippe

  • How should I start with EJB programming?

I have more than one year's programming experience in developing complicated data-driven web applications.
Now I decide to use EJB to build new web applications, how should I start?
Should I take a professional training class or just read several EJB books? I have Ed Roman's EJB book, it is great.
Thanks for your reply in advance.
    James

I think you start of by reading the EJB book by Ed Roman. It's free and availaible at www.theserverside.com.
    Read the first few chapters.
Another good book is Richard-Monson Haefel's EJB published by Orielly.
Start of by coding a few examples of stateless session beans on an easily deployable server like the J2EE server, available from this website.
Your next aim should be to understand Entity beans and the issues surrounding container managed persistance and bean managed persistance.
Voila in no time you wil be a champ.
