Which oracle client for aix 6 xi31 sp3?

I need oracle client 10.2 for a installation of xi31 sp3 on aix 6 with an oracle 11g db in order for ldap to work properly.
My apologies for my lack of DB (oracle) experience,  however, can someone please tell me which file I need for this and the associated link to download it?

Hi,
   Please explain in more details what do you mean "which files"?
   If you mean getting the physical files, then :
      To download BOE XI 3.1 with SP3, you need to log onto the SAP Support Portal (aka: Service Market Place) - http://service.sap.com/
      The Oracle D/B and the Oracle client will need to come from Oracle website. You will need to check with Oracle to see how you can get your hands on the files.
      As for AIX 6.1, I assumed that should already been setup since you quoted that in your last note.

  • When Instant Client for AIX 5L 32 and HP-UX PA-RISC 32 are released?

    Does anyone know when Instant Client for AIX 5L 32 might be release?
    and also, Instant Client for HP-UX PA-RISC 32 ?

    There isn't much to check. This is the Instant Client and it was downloaded specifically for the 32-bit PA-RISC platform. The "documentation" simply says I should set the "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" environment variable to include the directory where I unzipped the files. It is obviously looking at the libraries when I load my application, otherwise I would get a different type of error message along the lines of "missing Oracle client". FYI, This is not one of the newer 8x00 chips which support 64-bit addressing, but that is the point of the 32-bit option. I assumed this was compiled for my platform (which more specifically is an HP PA-RISC 7300LC 160MHz processor with 768MB RAM). I know this isn't the most modern box, but I would like to have a simple lab environment for my ERP application and save the hassle and additional expense of aquiring a 64-bit compatible workstation. I figure what I have works well with my application, and there is no 9i 32-bit client...so why not try the 10g Instant Client which should be backwards compatible with my database. BTW, the database is not running on this box, it's on a remote server which does support 64-bit and happens to be running Oracle 9.2.0.4.

  • Please make Oracle 8i for AIX available for download

    We need Oracle 8i for AIX...specifically Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 for AIX 4.3.3.
    We were pointed to technet.oracle.com by our Oracle representative. We found the following available:
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7.0.1) for Linux (Intel), with OPS
         Oracle8i Enterprise/Standard Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows 2000/NT
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Compaq Tru64 UNIX
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for HP 9000 Series HP-UX
    But nothing for AIX.
    We have an urgent requirement to get this up and running for our Dev't work and it would be a great help if we can download it as opposed to waiting 10 days for the CD to be burnt and shipped.
    Thanks...Larry

    is there any link which i can use to show that oracle 8i is not suppported for any version of AIX ?Go to the "Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products" document, page 4. Found at http://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support-policy.html
    That document provides 'expiry date' for all most Oracle tech product.

  • MS SQL DB Server Client for AIX

    Hi,
       I am trying to setup DB connect for our BW system.  However just like many others on SDN I am having trouble with MS SQL Client for AIX (Unix)
    Here is the info:
    SAP System:
    SAP BW 3.5 SAPKW35013
    OS:  AIX
    SAP Basis: 640 SP 13
    DB: ORACLE 9.2.0.6.0
    Source DB
    MS SQL Server 2000: SP 4: ver. 8.00.2039
    OS: MS Server 2003
    I have seen SAP installations running on WinNT using DB Connect for MS SQL but is there "NO WAY" to do it for SAP AIX Customers?
    I am trying to look into this functionality called Data Junction to pull data into Unix and would appreciate help from people who has used it before?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I'm still a little bit puzzled, what you are going to achieve. But if a MS SQLServer datasource (DS) in NW might help you, here it goes:
    1. Outlook: i will describe a DS setup to a SQL Sever 2000, using resources (drivers), already shipped with NW
    2. Steps
    2a. Define the driver library as follow
    - open visual admin and navigate in the cluster tree to JDBC Service, using the path "Server" / "Services" / "JDBC Connector"
    - In "Runtime" tab select in "Deployed Libraries" the library "com.sap.datadirect" and click in the toolbar the "<-" button, these will define "com.sap.datadirect" as driver library
    2b. Define a DS as follow
    - again in "Runtime" tab select "Data Sources" node and click in the toolbar the "new document" button to initiate DS creation
    - in the "Main" tab fill properties as follow
      . Name=MY_SQLSERVER_DS
      . JDBC Version=1.x
      . Driver Class=com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
      . Database URL=jdbc:sap:sqlserver://<change-2-your-db-server-host>:1433;MaxPooledStatements=150;SelectMethod=cursor
      . User=<change-2-your-db-login-user>
      . Password=<change-2-your-password>
    - in the "Additional" tab keep the defaults and change certain properties as follow
      . Expiration=check
      . Connection lifetime=600
      . Cleanup Thread=300
      . SQL Engine=Vendor SQL
    - save and check in tab "Monitoring", if the initial connection shows a green, running thread
    Hope this helps a bit

  • Which oracle client do I Need?

    I need to connect to vision instance on a remote server using my machine. I came to know that I need to have oracle client installed on my machine.
    Can someone clarify which oracle client do I need? I am running on windows- XP on NT Server. Version of Vision instance is 11.5.10.2.
    I appreciate for your help. URL Link should be great.
    This is what I download and unzip to C:\Oracle\instantclient_10_2.
    instantclient-basic-win32-10.2.0.3-20061115.zip
    Is it the correct one?
    Thanks.

    Your setting
    -Doracle.net.tns_admin=/usr/local/oracle/oas03/network/admin
    is ok if this directory contains the correct tnsnames.ora file.
    I have done some poking around, and I suspect that you use an old JDBC driver.
    I have written a sample Java program that tests a connection with java.sql.DataSource using JDBC thin and tnsnames.ora, and it works fine with Oracle 10.2.0.3 but fails with Oracle 10.1.0.5 with exactly the error message you get.
    The property oracle.net.tns_admin exists only since Oracle 10g R2 (see Metalink note 333686.1).
    With 10.2.0.3 I was not able to reproduce your error message, when I set a wrong oracle.net.tns_admin I get "Io exception: could not resolve the connect identifier", and when I omit the property altogether, I get "Io exception: Unknown host specified".
    Please double check if Vision uses the JDBC driver you think it does!
    Yours,
    Laurenz Albe
    PS: maybe the test program is useful for somebody. I will post it:
    * Test a DataSource connection with tnsnames.ora
    * Usage:
    * java -classpath .:/oracle/dir/ojdbc14.jar -Doracle.net.tns_admin=/tnsnames/dir tnsname user password
    public class DataSourceTest {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws java.sql.SQLException {
    if (3 != args.length) {
    System.err.println("Usage: java DataSourceTest <TNS-Name> <user> <password>");
    System.exit(1);
    // enable the following for trace output
    // need to use ojdbc14_g.jar for this
    /* java.util.logging.Logger logger = java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger("oracle.jdbc.driver");
    logger.setLevel(java.util.logging.Level.FINEST);
    java.util.logging.Handler handler = new java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler();
    handler.setLevel(java.util.logging.Level.FINEST);
    logger.addHandler(handler);
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleLog.setTrace(true); */
    oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource ods = new oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource();
    ods.setURL("jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + args[0]);
    java.sql.Connection conn = ods.getConnection(args[1], args[2]);
    java.sql.ResultSet rs = conn.createStatement().executeQuery("SELECT user FROM DUAL");
    rs.next();
    System.out.println("Successfully connected as user " + rs.getString(1));
    conn.close();

  • Which Oracle client to use? with CRS2008 on Windows 2008 R2 64bit

    Hi,
    We are setting up a standalone Crystal Reports 2008 Server on Windows 2008 R2 64bit. This server will serve some reports that will pull data from an Oracle 11g DB. Several Oracle 10g/11g, (32bit or 64bit) DB client has been tried, but CRS cannot connect to the oracle DB using any of them. Which oracle client is known to be working well on this setup?
    CRS 2008 <> Windows 2008 R2 64 bit <> Xeon E5600 series machine
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello,
    CRS2008 v1 supports Oracle 9.2, 10g R1, 10G R2 and 11g R1.
    The client to use on those version are the same as the server meaning if you have a 11g R1 server then you can use an Oracle Net Client 11G R1. But you can use also a JDBC, ODBC, OLEDB Oracle 11G R1.
    If you have a CRS2008 v0, then Oracle 11G is not supported. Only 9.2, 10g R1 and 10G R2.
    I hope this will help you

  • Oracle Client for DOS

    Hi!
    Where can I download Oracle Client for DOS to connect to Oracle Server version 7, 8, 9 or 10g?
    Thank you for any advice.
    Igor Shulgin
    Chelyabinsk, JSC Uralsvyazinform

    Oracle hasn't produced a DOS client at least in the past 6 years. I'm not aware of a DOS client that has ever been produced, but I can't say that for sure. If there was a DOS client in the Oracle 6 or 7 days, getting it would be a challenge-- you'd have to contact Oracle support to see if that have an archive that goes back that far. Most likely, you'd have to find someone who still had the old media. Even if you did, though, an Oracle 6 or 7 client cannot connect to an Oracle 9i or 10g database. An Oracle 6 client can't even connect to an Oracle 8i database.
    In other words, you probably can't connect from a DOS machine. If you install Windows, you can use the Windows client from a DOS window.

  • Oracle client for SCO Unix

    Hi,
    Where I can't download oracle client for SCO Unix ?
    Thanks.

    You're right. You can't download Oracle client for SCO Unix.
    I'm not sure what you mean by "SCO Unix", but if you go to MetaLink and look at the Certification matrix, you see two different listings that make reference to SCO:
    Unixware (SCO) - Terminal Oracle release for this platform was 8.1.7.
    Intel SCO Open Unix 8 with LKP - Terminal Oracle release for this platform was 9.0.1.
    So, I think you're out of luck.

  • Oracle version for AIX 5.3 ?

    I just download the latest Oracle 10g Trial version for AIX 5L from the Web. But as I go through installation, while running "runInstaller", it gave me message:
    "Checking operating system version: must be 5200
    Failed <<<<"
    Of course since I have AIX 5.3. The requirement of Oracle 10g says the OS should be "AIX 5L version 5.2, Main level 1 or higher". With AIX 5.3, is there a Oracle version?
    thanks,

    Thank you, it worked!
    However it seems to me a more workaround. Is there a source to say Oracle 10g for AIX 5.3 is officially supported (or aka certified for the platform)? If a Oracle 10g is purchased and problem develops on AIX 5.3, I don't want to get a saying it is not yet certified.

  • Oracle client for ancient AIX 4.2 on PowerPC

    Can someone point me to the Oracle client software for an ancient AIX (4.2.1) system? The target database is 10.2.0.3 on Linux.
    The ability to connect to the current DB from the old server would greatly facilitate the migration. Full or instant client, doesn't matter as long as I can connect.
    If there are other alternatives I would be open to suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

    As your db is on 10203 your client has to be 9204 or later
    From what I remember 9201 base itself was released on AIX5L

  • Oracle client for an AIX machine

    I need the client oracle 9.2.0.1 for an AIX machine.
    But in the download page I don't see any link for the oracle client. There is only this
    link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/aixsoft.html
    Thera are 4 different download:
    server_9201_AIX64_Disk1.cpio.gz (523,867,845 bytes)
    server_9201_AIX64_Disk2.cpio.gz (629,432,127 bytes)
    server_9201_AIX64_Disk3.cpio.gz (620,873,250 bytes)
    server_9201_AIX64_Disk4.cpio.gz (221,310,704 bytes)
    Is the client there?

    Oracle doesn't offer the client as a separate download.
    You need to download all 4 files (can not help it),
    fire up the installer, and choose a Client install.

  • Oracle client for siebel server configuration

    Hi ,
    To install siebel as prerequisite we are installing oracle client on the siebel server machine. Our client is providing ldap.ora instead of tnsnames.ora file. Through out my earlier projects we used to have tnsnames.ora entry which is having connection details of database. CAn you Please confirm instead of having tnsnames.ora , can we use ldap .ora which is having Db server details in it. Have you ever seen other clients using this way without tnsnames.ora for siebel installation.
