Which patch to apply in OEM 12c 12.1.0.4 - PSU or Bundle patch
Hello All,
Could you please help me to understand - which patch to apply in OEM 12c 12.1.0.4 - PSU or Budle patch ? Per doc id - Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.4.0 (PS3) Master Bundle Patch List for Agent and Plug-ins (OMS and Agent side) (Doc ID 1900943.1) -
which of the below mentioned patch to be applied in OMS ?
1> System Patch 12.1.0.4.10 - Patch 20675595 (This is a single Sytem patch that includes all the OMS-Side Plug-in Bundles released this month as well as OMS-side Plug-ins released in previous months.)
or
2> For 12.1.0.4, this is Patch: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/BugDisplay?parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=1900943.1&id=20392036https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchDetails/process_form?parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=1900943.1&aru=20392036 &patch_password=&no_header=020392036 (12.1.0.4.3 PSU). Please refer to Note.1995267.1 for the latest PSU patches available for Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 4 (12.1.0.4).
We recently upagraded our OEM from 12.1.0.2 to 12.1.0.4 with out using software updates option during upgrade, hence none of the PSUs are applied to OEM. Now we want to apply latest OEM patches which fixes all the fixes and bug/securities.
I thought BP will include PSU as well but why does DOC id - 1900943.1 says - NOTE: We recommend that you always apply the most recent quarterly PSU. For 12.1.0.4, this is Patch: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/BugDisplay?parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=1900943.1&id=20392036https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchDetails/process_form?parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=1900943.1&aru=20392036 &patch_password=&no_header=020392036 (12.1.0.4.3 PSU). Please refer to Note.1995267.1 for the latest PSU patches available for Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 4 (12.1.0.4). ??
Please help .The answer is Yes.
The PSU is core OMS patches (think console, incident rules, notifications, etc.) This gets applied to your OMS ORACLE_HOME (i.e. /u01/app/oracle/mw/oms)
The Plugin System Bundle is a compilation of all the latest plugin patch bundles (So for DB Plugin bundle it contains all the latest DB Plugin fixes). The system patch will apply required patches as necessary, skip what's not.

Which patch to apply in ONLINE mode
How can we judge which patch to apply in ONLINE/Hot mode...??
Is the patch readme only option ??
or there is some other way ??Hi Vicky,
General Patch readme shows you that if patch require down time or no? other than that you need to assume from your server performance wether you will able to apply patch online with sufficenet worker or not? and how much time will it take? also consider the size of patch you need to apply. And then take decision wether to apply patch online or not?
Thanks,

Which patches to apply on top of a WebLogic Portal 10.3.5 installation?
Hi,
Is there any MOS note that lists which patches should be applied on top of a WebLogic Portal 10.3.5 installation?

Is it because the features in Portal Examples were not supported anymore since 10.3.4? -
Which patches to apply for 11i Demo Instance?
Who can tell me which patch must be applied for 11i Demo instance after install completely because I found many errors from 11i Demo such as Oracle Managemnet Module can not test the functionality.
You need to apply the 11.5.3. level of code and Patch set D before you do much with OM. Even with 11.5.3. you will still not be able to complete a full order cycle. Shipping still gets blocked with errors that are being worked on at Oracle Development as we speak.

The patches listed in knowledge document 1004881.1 - Live Upgrade Software Patch Requirements (formerly 206844) on My Oracle Support are subject to change at any time. These patches potentially fix defects in Live Upgrade, as well as fix defects in components that Live Upgrade depends on. If you experience any difficulties with Live Upgrade, please check and make sure that you have the latest Live Upgrade patches installed.
If you are running the Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 OS, you might not be able to run the Live Upgrade installer. These releases do not contain the set of patches needed to run the Java 2 runtime environment. You must have the recommended patch cluster for the Java 2 runtime environment recommended to run the Live Upgrade installer and install the packages. To install the Live Upgrade packages, use the pkgadd command. Or install, for the Java 2 runtime environment, the recommended patch cluster. The patch cluster is available on http://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support).

so first off, I logged into one node, went to $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch/ and did the following "opatch lsinventory" and got the following information.
Now my question is, how do I use the following info to find out what other patches to be applied?

OPatch succeeded.
{code}You are running 11.2.0.2 The current (latest) patchset level is 11.2.0.4 That requires an "out-of-place" upgrade -- i.e. by installing 11.2.0.4 in a seperate ORACLE_HOME and then running catupgrd.
However, before you do that, you should be upgrading your Grid Infrastructure (to 11.2.0.4)
Since an upgrade from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.4 is significant, you should test your applications against 11.2.0.4 in a test environment first.
See Oracle Support notes
11.2.0.4 Patch Set - Availability and Known Issues (Doc ID 1562139.1)
and
Important Changes to Oracle Database Patch Sets Starting With 11.2.0.2 (Doc ID 1189783.1)
CPUs are documented here : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alerts-086861.html
The latest CPU, for the October 2013 release, is the final CPU for 11.2.0.2 [See Oracle Support note "Patch Set Update and Critical Patch Update October 2013 Availability Document (Doc ID 1571391.1)"]. Subsequent CPUs will be released for 11.2.0.3 and 11.2.0.4
Some customers, to be safe, do not apply the latest patch "until it has stabilised". They might choose to be one patch level lower than the latest. For example, to be on 11.2.0.3 and the July 2013 CPU. Your organistation needs to have a Patch Management Policy that drives decisions on patching.

Which patches are already applied
Hi,
how can I requeste from the database which patches are already applied ?
select * from TABLENAME ;
I have forgotten the name of table or view.
Many thanks before. If you want to see installed product versions, then you can use V$VERSION and DBA_REGISTRY dictionary views (the last one 9i onwards).

HOW to find out the tablespace space utilized by a patch after applying the
someone has already applied the patch in test env before recording the tablespace size , so I cannot find out the figure in test env.
So is there any general practice or general guidelines on it?
hOW to find out the tablespace space utilized by a patch after applying the patch?
Thanks & Regards,
Sree.
Edited by: 846579 on Mar 22, 2011 10:50 PMI think there is no direct way to determine what tablespace is utilized by a patch from the README file. You could check the content of the patch file and see what modules are affected (assuming there are changes and the database level), then query DBA_USERS (DEFAULT_TABLESPACE column) for those schemas which are updated by a patch. Or, you could check the size of the tablespaces before and after applying the patch and you will determine what tablespaces have been utilized (provided that the application services are down, and none of the application users is connected to the application).
Thanks,

Multiple Templates Selection When No languages patches are applied
Hi All,
I am looking for the best approach to translate the .rtf templates into different languages when no languages patches are applied.
Regards,
Nagesh Manda.there are both "Upload to Flickr" and "BlackMug" apps in App World, for both of those services, they should work.
In your screenshots, the middle one, if you select one image, and then tap the second image, does it DE-select the first selection?

Newbie Question: - Which Patch Sets/Interim Patches to install?
We have 6 Oracle 10.2.3.0 Databases (AIX5.3 64bit) including a 10.2.3.0 Grid Db, Now I have stated to investigate the possibility of patching our new Db/Infrastructure using GRID patching wizard (Deployment > Patch Oracle Software) . The question I have it what patches will I install? All of them? to all Db ? How do I know which to install and which ones not to install?
When I run the Patch Oracle Software wizard, It queries my metal ink account and pulls back around 460 patches?
If anybody could help or provide a link to some more information it would be a great help.CPU patches have the interim patches in them, so no need to do them individually.
I suspect that the patches to apply isn't the issue here; rather, the TESTING you need to do, so as not to introduce nasty stuff by accident. e.g. a new tweak to the CBO/whatever in a CPU may suddenly make lots of your important queries behave strangely. Always patch your test system first, and spend real time ensuring that nothing bizarre has happened to your system. It's always a panic-inducing time uninstalling patches, so get it right up-front.

Hi, I don't know how to find a specific security patch to apply to my Oracle database version 11.2.0.2.0 (on windows server 2003 32 bits) to fix the following vulnerability:
Risk: High
Application: oracle_tnslsnr
Port: 1521
Protocol: tcp
Synopsis:
It is possible to register with a remote Oracle TNS listener.
Description:
The remote Oracle TNS listener allows service registration from a remote host. An attacker can exploit this issue to divert data from a
legitimate database server or client to an attacker-specified system.
Successful exploits will allow the attacker to manipulate database instances, potentially facilitating man-in-the-middle, sessionhijacking,
or denial of service attacks on a legitimate database server.
Solution:
Apply the work-around in Oracle's advisory.

that sounds like the "tns poison" vulnerability. CVE 2012-1675 - Oracle Security Alert CVE-2012-1675
