Which PDF-version on Content Server 4

In what PDF-version must the PDF-files be saved, in order to work properly on ACS4?
I have noticed that PDFs that are uploaded in version 1.6 (Actobat 7.x) does not show the first cover image, but a blank page instead, when downloaded (as a library loan for example).
PDFs in versions below 1.6 show the cover image as they should.
I have created the cover images from Photoshop CS3 and saved them as Photoshop PDF - then added to the PDF-file.
On Content Server 3, all PDFs had to be saved in version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) to work, but I hoped that would be different in ACS4.

Sorry to hear that in regards to iOS 4.2.10.less.  Hopefully us Verizon users will  be able to get the latest and greatest iOS tomorrow along with the rest of the planet.  Most people say it's a lock, but after 9 months of being left out in the cold, I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm with you on this - still at 4.2.10 (8E600) - but the day is young.

    Hello,
Can I open a pdf available in content server from web? This web based application is non SAP aaplication.
The content server is connected to my SAP system and by using FM ALINK_RFC_DOCUMENTS_GET I get the required link.  I am not sure how can I open this link from ouside SAP system( in SAP system pfd can be open using FM OBJECT_DISPLAY_CONNECTIONS).
I have also gone through the below SAP link also but no luck.

    Thank you,

    Hi
I'm not sure you can use this URL outside your SAP System and open it without providing any kind of security credentials.
Anyway what you could do is use ALINK_RFC_TABLE_GET to get your PDF in binary format and compose it in your Web Application

  • How to archive data which is in sap content server

    Hi Experts,
We are facing issue with data stored in content server. With the time the data which is in content server is increasing and reaching the size limitation of content server. We want to archive data which is already present in content server.
Is there any stategy for this and how we can archive the data which is already inside sap content server.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Ajay,
It really helps to ansewer some of my questions.
I would like to ask some more information for content server to you. As you said content server will allow to increase the database size upto 64TB and advise for the either of the 2 activiteis.
    1. If I shift the data which is old to some other storage, should that storage device be connected to content server.
e.g If I have decided to store data on some file system I have to connect file system with the content server with the specific driver for file system.
    2. Next you said to install new content server, but as I know content server provide us the facility to connect to various instances of database system if one of the instance reaches its limit of 64 TB, so would it be good to install some other instances of database or the new sap conent server.
    3. Which storage media (File system and Instance of Database) is prefferable in terms of cost and security to enhance the scalability of content server.
    Thanks.

  • Latest version of Content Server

    Hi All
I need some assitance in understanding what the latest version of the Content Server is. I know 640 is probably the one, but what confuses me is the content Server Service on SICF on the ERP system for example. Now, does that mean the content server is integrated to the system or do we still need to install a stand alone Content Server.  What other way can we implment DMS without the use of the content server, i.e. can the portal knowlege Management achieve the same? if so, what are the prerequisites and pros and cons?
    Thanks
    Ronny

Response to your second question: Portal Knowledge Management is a stripped down version of DMS. It provides basic content management features with embedded asynchronous and synchronous collaboration(review, rating, feedback, discussion etc).
SAP DMS (with content, cache server setup) typically cater to a long term Document Management strategy involving designs, drawings, technical specifications etc with rich features like Markup and redlining,Document life cycle definition, Distribution strategies, Digital signature, SAP R/3 Object linking,CAD integration etc. The storage options in SAP DMS are:
    1. 'DMS Storage' option(may store in SAP DB,Vault,RFC Archive), you can store upto 2 originals/documents and 99 additional files.
    2. 'kPro Storage' option(may store in SAP DB,HTTP Content Server), you can store 'n' originals/documents and 'n' additional files
    NOTE:
    HTTP content server
Either the SAP Content Server or a third-party content server can be used.
    SAP database
If you want to store your documents in the SAP database, you need a content table. All your documents are stored in this table in the SAP database. The content table can be cross-client or client-specific.
    RFC storage system
RFC is used for storing documents in the context of SAP ArchiveLink, the Archive Development Kit (ADK), or an application that uses SAP ArchiveLink or the ADK.
Logical repositoryThis storage type allows access to different physical repositories, independently of the client and the system ID.
Structure repositoryThe structure repository is only used in the SAP Knowledge Warehouse environment.
The content server is available for free on SAP marketplace for exisiting SAP customers. This needs to be setup on a separate hardware(specifications can be arrived at after contentserver sizing). The storage limit using content server can be scaled upto 50+ terabytes of data.

  • Which PDF version to save/export to?

I'd been trying to research to find out what version Acrobat Reader version people are using.
For example in 2011, according from research from AVAST, the Adobe Reader User Base was:
    Versions 3, 4, 5  = 3%
    Version 6  = 2%
    Version 7 = 6%
    Version 8 = 14%
    Version 9 = 35%
    Version X = 40%.
I would like to find out current statistics. Does anyone have any insight?
    Adobe Reader User Base?
    Versions?

I don't know whether such information exists, but if you use PDF 1.6 you'll be likely to cover a large majority of all users.

  • How do I decide which PDF version for print?

    Hi
I'm almost finished this project and have another issue with printing.  The colours aren't matching.  I've used 'Kuler' for all my CYMK colours and for whatever reason, I can't nail the colours in my test runs and the client isn't happy.  There are so many options when exporting to Acrobat and I'm thinking this may have something to do with this....dunno ;-)).
    Any ideas?

There are a lot of small problems in your workflow which could add up to big problems on the output end.
Calibrating via the OSX software calibrator is better than doing nothing, but it's not likely as good as a hardware calibrator because it's depending on your empirical judgements rather than a colorimeter reading.
On the other end is the proof you are getting a contract proof? If you are using the default US Web SWOP CMYK profile does the proof match those printing conditions?
The bigger problems are with Kuler. Neither the AIR app or the web app are color managed, so in its color picker there's no way to know how the conversion to the displayed CMYK numbers was made, or what CMYK device is targeted (US SWOP, US Sheetfed, Euroscale?). When you view the swatches in Kuler you are seeing them in your monitor RGB space. When you port the swatches into ID they come in as the listed CMYK values, which are displayed via your doc's CMYK profile, so you won't get a match and the preview will change depending on the profile.
Also, the Kuler CMYK values have a huge amount of black in them—significantly more than you would get making the conversions in PS or ID with any of the default profiles.I think you would likely get better CMYK values by screen capturing the swatches in the Kuler app (OSX captures get tagged with your monitor profile), convert the capture to CMYK in PS using your destination CMYK profile, and use the resulting CMYK values in your ID doc.

  • Some questions regarding SAP Content Server / Knowledge Warehouse

    Hi,
we are thinking about SAP Knowledge Warehouse which needs the SAP Content Server.
Is it possible to install the Conent Server together with a Solution Manager System where we would like to use the Knowledge Warehouse functionallity? The Conent Server needs his own database instance. Is it possible to add it to the actually installed Maxdb for the  Solution Manager?
What is the actual version of the Content Server 6.30 or 6.40? Is there no 7.0? What about the future of the Content Server?
We are running Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1. Is it possible to install the content server on the same machine? What about the database? Can I use the already installed DB of solution manager?
    Thanks ahead

Is it possible to install the Conent Server together with a Solution Manager System where we would like to use the Knowledge Warehouse functionallity?
If you have enougth resourses why not?
The Conent Server needs his own database instance.
This is are not true, you can install content server without MAX DB.
Is it possible to add it to the actually installed Maxdb for the Solution Manager?
Again why not, if you have correct max db version per PAM for content server (you need 2 DB instance second are for cache server) check pam for NW 7.0 (the PDF document) you find information about content server requirements here and in page --> Database components on same NW 7.0 PAM.
What is the actual version of the Content Server 6.30 or 6.40?
    6.40 are last version,
We are running Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1. Is it possible to install the content server on the same machine?
Your OS are ? I'm install cont server 6.40 on system where NW 7.0 are installed without problem, do not know about NW EHP1 .... Good backup are start point .....

  • DMS Content server / Master guide

    Hi Friends,
I try to search info on details for DMS Content server. I found only content server. Is there any differnce for DMS Content server.
I want to understand the sizing / planning  / DB usage for DMS purpose.
Can I get any where DMS Master Guide for finding all above details.
We are using the SAP data base only for storing the documents. I will be selecting KPro for doc. types.
Does we need to create Content table. How to do that ?
I know very little in basis activities. If u can give the details I will discuss with ABAP & Basis persons to sort out.
    Regards,
    Sai Krishna

    Hi,
    Thanx for the info.
We are using the SAP data base only for storing the documents. I will be selecting KPro for doc. types. In this case I don't require any content server.
I have gone thru the PDF of SAP Content Server for Windows Installation Guide and noted down the following info:
    1. caluclation methodology and compression for each type of document (say doc / PDF etc). and noted
    2. Increase in data over perticular period
    3. on an average how many users accessing documents at a perticular time.
I have done the following settings Maintain Storage System in OAC0.
    Content Rep. : DMS_C1
Document area- DMS Document management system
Storage type - 03 SAP system data base
    Rep. Sub type - Normal
    Version no : 0045
    Contents table: DMS_CONT1_CD1
    Physical Basic Path - E:\usr\sap\IDS\SYS\global\
Shall I know what is the use of Physical path. What should be given correctly. More over I am trying to create ne wone it is greyed out (display mode)
ThenI assigned Storage system to Storage Category in OACT in the following way :
    Document Area : DMS
    Content Rep. : DMS_C1
DMS_CONT1_CD1 Table already created. When I see the table
PH_CLASS ; SDOKPHCL (SDOK: Physical information object classe)
Is it all required from bais side or server side.  All places I found  info regd. HTTP Content Server only. For that reason I want to confirm.
Or else pls. let me know where can I get the required info.
    Regards,
    Sai Krishna

  • OS Upgrade on Content Server

    Hi,
We are using Content Server 6.30 Installed on Linux 3EL, DMS Installed on ECC6 system.
We are using StorageType=FSS(File System Storage) on Content Server.
Now We are planning to Upgrade OS on Content Server.
Now Issue is I searched in PAM for suitable OS for our current content server but there I found for MAXdb and SAP db but not for storage type FSS.
Please suggest for which OS release we should go for our Content Server OS Upgrade and do we need to do anything after Upgrade for our storage(FSS) after Upgrade.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Shivam

    Hi Shivam,
you just need to make sure that your operating system version that you want to upgrade to is supported for the version of Content Server that you are using.
You don't have to do anything from the file system side after the upgrade.
I'd also recommend that you use the latest version of the Content Server - version 6.40. As you have an existing version; you just need to install the latest content server patches to upgrade to this 6.40 version of the Content Server.
    KR,
    Karen.

  • Trex - DMS - Content Server

I have two instances os SAP R/3, which one with one Content Server
I have also the SAP Portals connect to DMS using SAP DMS Connector
In the portal, through content management, I can see the originals files sotred in the Content Server.
Buuut, using the search (TREX) I can find the info records of the document stored in DMS but when I click on the file to see the original (doc, ppt, pdf) an ip authentication of the content serverscreen appears to me.
How can I solve that? Is a problem in the Portal or in the Content Server? Remeber that through content management, I can see the originals files sotred in the Content Server

    Hi,
you are using a DMS and the NetWeaver Portal with the DMS Repository Manager.
If you are Content Admin in the Portal than in this case no permissions will be check regarding the documents from the DMS.
But when you are a normal (non-admin) user in the portal than the permission will be checked in the backend system (DMS).
You must have configured SSO from the Portal to DMS. Do you have done this?
This will be done withe the portal system object. You can define User-Mapping or SSO if the portal account name is the same like the DMS account name. For SSO you have to do some more steps for accepting the SAP Logon ticket.
    Best regards
    Frank

  • pcs:insert not working correctly in Content Server 6.0

    Hello,
I'm having a difficult time getting the <pcs:insert> tag working in Content Server 6.0. In the previous version of Content Server, I used <pcs:insert expr="mycontentitem"></pcs:insert> and the content item that I want inserted shows up fine. Now when I try it in Content Server 6.0, the inserted (child) content item tries to reference the parent's content item variables, giving me nothing. Also, I have tried using <pcs:insert path="mycontentitem"> to the same result.
Any help, or example of a working <pcs:insert> for Content Server 6.0 would be a lifesaver!
    Thank you,
    PK

We have the same problem with "INSERT" tags not working in the newest version CS6.0. I am a bit surprised that anyone had replied to your post to give us some explanations or directions how to solve the problem. It looks as a serious problem to me.

  • Original deletion from content server once we delete DIR

    Hi,
I'm deleting DIR using transaction CDESK. Will this method, delete original which is checked in content server?
    Regards,
    Yogesh

    Hi Yogesh,
Yes,successful execution of the CDESK transaction for deletion ensures that the DIR and the meta data is deleted from the database and all the associated original files are deleted from the database/Content Server depending upon the storage location opted for.
