Which platform???

hello there, I am just wondering what platform of downloads should I choose. J2EE J2SE J2ME Which one??? Please help!

Well, most probably I recommend you to choose J2SE platform.(Just in case you don't know, J2SE stands for Java 2 Standard edition) It is for those who are mostly doing them for little projects or experiments.
J2EE, on the other hand, is in short for Java 2 Enterprise Edition. This edition is mainly for those people doing business from small to big. It would me redundant if you use it for projects.
The last platform, J2ME. That stands for Java 2 Micro Edition. This edtion... ... I do not think you should even download it because it is the micro edition, which means that it is only meant for micro devices (e.g. Handphones, pagers, PDAs......). So if you try to use that on pcs, I don't think it will work...
So to conclude everything, I will say that if you are doing java programming for pleasure, you should choose J2SE. If you are opening new business or to create big programes and games, you should choose J2SE. And of course, you should choose J2ME if you intend to do java with micro devices.
After typing so much, I hope you comprehend what I told you.
Actually, I also started off like you, a newbie, don't know anything! But don't give up... continue practising... and you will be an expert in java. I know it is very hard to do java programming. But when you get used to it, it will be all right.
IF THERE IS A WILL, THERE'S A WAY

  • Adobe Extension signing - which platform should I choose?

    1. I created Adobe Extension using Extension Builder 3  (HTML5 Extension) for Photoshop CC.
    2. I want to buy Code Signing Certificate for it.
On this site for example https://www.globalsign.com/code-signing/ I have to choose "Platform" form "Supported Platforms" list.
On that site such list looks like this:
    MS Autheticode
    Adobe AIR
    Apple
    Mozilla & Netscape
    MS Office & VBA
    Java
Which platform should I choose to sign adobe extension?
Maybe it does not matter which one?

illustrator is the one which needs higher components as the other programms, right?
No, Photoshop is, assuming you are speaking of CS4 and are concerned about hardware accelerated features like the soft zoom or 3D features in PS Extended. Those only work with NVidia or ATI cards. If you can live without those features, it doesn't matter which system you get. The only critical factor then becomes RAM - the more, the better. One word of warning on the way: Make sure, your laptop supports the minimum system requirements in terms of screen resolution. If not, you may not even be able to install the software let alone use it.

  • I am trying to identify which platform is best suited for creating a digital magazine?

HI, and thanks in advance for any help.  I publish a digital magazine on Joomag, but want to move away from that platform and use adobe.
I simply don't know which platform within the suite is best suited for a novice user.  I'm not a luddite, but not a wizard either.
    Can someone recommend some solution?

If you only need to handle 2 clients, I see no reason why you
couldn't run your FMS on your Windows XP machine.

  • Which platform I should use ?

which java platform I should use to creat message display and settings in mobile phone ? and how can I add language code in java to show different laguage(other than English) on mobile screen ?

Or is it the tabbed appearance of the portfolio cover which interests you? I think this might be made with Flash Builder. Very bad choice, to use Flash, in my opinion. Looks slick, certainly, but locking out all customers with iPads and Android is just lunacy. But see Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform * Demonstrating the Flash Builder-based interactive statement

  • Which platform for the server

We are planning to buy Oracle Business Intelligence so that we can use Reports and Discoverer. Now, I want your input for the platform which should use, Windows or UNIX.
    The pluses for Windows :
+ font installation and support is easier than UNIX
+ speaking to printers is also easier
    The minuses for Windows :
    - that damn Registry
    - eat more RAM and CPU ressources
    - the cost of the operating system
You can guess that UNIX has the inverse minuses and pluses. If we go with Windows, I will look at Windows 2003 Web Server Edition since it's only for running Oracle BI, anyone running Reports on this OS ?

    hello,
all the different OSs' have pros and cons and it really depends on your infrastructure and you standards whether you want to go with windows or unix.
please consult the certification information for OracleBI for information on OS certifications.
    thanks,
    ph.

  • On which platforms is Java6 SDK still not supported?

Is there some up-to-date document that gives an overview of which version of Java is available where? It seems Java5 has reached its end of service life, but then, people keep telling me that some Mac/Apple platforms still do not have Java6 available on them - which would mean that any project that should run an as many platforms as possible would still be compatible with Java5.
So does anyone know the facts on Java6 support on Macs and is there some place where one can keep track of which version is compatible with what platform?

    johann_p wrote:
Unfortunately these pages do not explicitly state where Java6 is NOT supported. It's far easier to state where it IS supported.
So unless one has a real good knowledge of Apple platforms one is still a bit in the dark.I'm not a "Mac Guy"™, but the following passage seemed pretty clear to me:
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 delivers improved reliability and compatibility for Java SE 6, J2SE 5.0 and J2SE 1.4.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 and later. The release updates Java SE 6 to version 1.6.0_07, J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_16, and J2SE 1.4.2 to 1.4.2_18.
    And so on.
If the FAQ I found is up-to-date, the OS still comes with Java5 initially so that is rather sad. Overall Apples support for Java seems to be rather disappointing."Mac OS X is the only major consumer operating system that comes complete with a fully configured and ready-to-use Java runtime and development environment."

  • Audio discussion tool. which platform?

    hello!
i would like you to help me choose the "correct" development platform for a project, which starts soon.
my "tool" should provide following functionality:
    - upload mp3-files to a specific directory on a web-server, which can be streamed later via an audio-player (implemented in the application)
    - the mp3-files can be commented/annotated, which means that during playback users are able to comment "wow thats a very good part of the song". these comments should be saved and displayed for other users. (i thought of saving the comments in XML-files and then parse the XML during playback and work with cue-points...)
    - usability should be high: for example a seek-bar, which displays at which time comments have been made on the audio-file.
keep in mind, that my application should only be a prototype. so it won't be used in a production environment. therefore the functionality does not have to be perfectly implemented (e.g. it does not have to work with 1000ppl using it at the same time, ...). i would like to know on which development-platform these features can be implemented in a fancy/"easy" way. FLEX or FLASH?
    thanks in advance,
    Peter

sounds very good. thx for you answer.
    - how can i upload an mp3-file to the server when i do it in flash? or would that be easier in flex?
    - i will also need "file dialogs" so that the user can choose an xml-document to view stored comments. any shor hint on this one, too?
    - will all of this be possible in AS2? i just found out that the "media playback" component is not available anymore in AS3 :/
would be much appreciated. thanks again!

  • Which platform is the best for creator

i work with creator2 on windows xp. sometimes it's too slow and unstable. we are using p4 2.8 ghz and 1024 mb ram. i wonder that creator developers prefer which os and hardware configuration.

    Hi,
Creator 2 is in the Early Access stage and as a result there will be a few problems. The performance issue has been brought to our notice by many testers and the engineers are working to address this issue. Please post further queries related to Creator 2 at the following:

  • Which platform to install Solaris 8 on?

    Hi all!
What would be the best Intel hardware choice for installing Solaris on for a brand new company ... no legacy hardware or software.
Sparc solutions seem to pricey to consider at this time, so we're sticking to Intel.
Dell has some nice rack mountable servers that we're considering... Anyone know of problems with installing solaris on these?
    Thanks!

    [email protected]

Make sure that the hardware is compatible with Solaris 8... Check the compatibility list before you purchase any hardware for your company... If you want SPARC's you could probably use the generics like Tatung or the likes which are cheaper that SUN's boxes... OF course the best thing to look for is the support... Sun has been great with their support.

  • How to set which site displays on which platform

    hi everyone
when you design sites in muse it lets you create a version for desktop a version for tablets and a version for phones.
so the desktop site sits in the root folder the tablet site sites in a subfolder called tablet and the phone site sits in a subfolder called phone this is how muse appears to structure everything.
what isnt clear is once published how does the site know which version of itself to display to your device?
what do i as a user have to do to ensure the phone site displays on phones, the tablet site displays on tablets and the desktop site displays on desktops?

    Hi,
Adobe Muse automatically adds a redirect code to find out which device the client is using and serving the correct version of the website to them. You do not have to right anything manually.

  • How do I get the platform on which my application is executed?

I need to determine on which platform (iOS or Android) my application is currently executed. Is there a way to do this? Until now I just found the Capabilities.os property which is I think for exactly this case. The problem with that property is, that it only return the different Windows version, or if the platform is a Mac or Linux or iPhone OS (is that iOS? I don't know...).
Are there any ideas how I could solve this?

    Thanks guys,
the solution of Colin Holgate works for me, although it should be
    if (Capabilities.version.indexOf('IOS') >= 0)
if i want to check if my application runs on iOS. If I want to check for Android I use, of course, AND instead of IOS.

  • Which management platform for 8.1 devices (non RT)

I am getting more and more questions on this: we are going to buy tablets with the regular 8.1 SKU on it, which platform should we choose to manage them: native SCCM client? internet-based sccm client? or intune client?
I think the answer depends on whether those tablets will be domain joined or not, because with intune client you can do a lot of things that you would natively do via GPO for domain joined machines
I would like to create a simple table that anyone can understand to answer the question, all ideas are welcome!

Torsten is right that it depends.  Currently, there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
For your particular scenario, the questions that need answered are:
    1. Do you already leverage SCCM?
    2. Do you need as much management functionality as possible of the 8.1 tablets or just a subset such as inventory, patching, etc?  Or do you need inventory, DCM, app deployment?
    3. How many tablets?
    4. Any plans to purchase other tablets such as iPad or Android, or manage smart phones in the future?
    5. And most important, what's your available capex amount to implement a solution?
Depending on the answer to these example questions, such will dictate the best technology or combination of technologies to achieve your device management goals.

  • Differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and a Linux Platform

I want to know the differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform. And which platform is better?
    Thanks

We have installed Oracle 8i on Solaris 8 and it had a great performance, of course that the hardware and licence invested here was costed my the office where i work. Personaly i'd installed linux reh hat 8 and oracle 8i, imagine that, it could be implemented by any individual that has the time to do so.
By buyinng from a company that has a good background you could be sure that you will have support.
Bottom line, if you have the $ to buy great hardware go for a unix platform. But if you don't a Red Hat Linux Server Licence with a 1 year sopport and Oracle data base is about 3500Dls.
