Which PPro version has mpeg2-dvd

I'm currently working with PPro CS6 and I've discovered that the output option "mpeg2-dvd"  is not among the options which turns out to be the exact one I need.   After reading some online docs it appears this is a problem for many people with CS6.  I've been unsuccessful in installing this option and I could really use some help from somebody who has encountered and fixed this issue.
In the event that CS6 is problematic I  would like to know which version of PPro does not crash with the error "amtlib.dll file missing" constantly appearing on screen.   If I need to downgrade to an earlier stable version then please suggest which one that may be. My proficiency level with
Thank you.

Oh, they've changed things a bunch ... but first, CS6 was a fine editing program of its day. Many still prefer to use it for the one-time purchase reason. The new model offers some strong advantages ... they've completely rebuilt the processes where the programs of the DVA's (digital video apps) work with one another, especially the Direct Link to SpeedGrade and even the Dynamic Link to AfterEffects. As Adobe no longer "ships" Encore for DVD authoring as a "current" app, we need to download the CS6 PrPro and then on install, we can choose to only install Encore ... that's how one does DVD's now. Work in the newer PrPro, export to Mpeg-2/DVD, then import into CS6 Encore.
The Direct Link with SpeedGrade has nearly turned that program into a plug-in for PrPro. Set up & work a project in PrPro, do the "Send Direct to SpeedGrade" option, and in a few moments ... like 20 second or so ... you're working your PrPro project in SpeedGrade. No intermediate files ... no DPX ... nothing. Just the PrPro project itself in a dedicated grading program. Finish the grading you want to do now, hit the back to PrPro icon, another 20 seconds, you're working back in PrPro.
That's changed the whole process for many of us. It's so fast that if I'm curious as to whether X footage is really worth adding to the timeline over quality issues, I pop it over to Sg and see how well it grades. Rather than going for "project lock" before beginning grading, I'll have a sequence fleshed out for the clips intended for it, and immediately take it over to Sg. Come back to Prpro to keep working the rest of the project. Render-out/export are always done from PrPro and that ever more capable Adobe Media Encoder (AME) program that's part of PrPro, rather than that ... odd ... Render process that Sg had.
PrPro used to work better with Ae than it really did with Sg ... and though the process with Sg has been dramatically improved, the one with Ae does more also. There's other people around here like shooternz who do A LOT more using PrPro & Ae on the same project than I do. They can talk about the way that works now. Again, CS6 did cooperate ... CC2014.2 is vastly more inter-connected.
Some of the processes have also been streamlined, such as creating new sequences, moving things to Audition for sound work, and some tools have been updated. I have trouble remembering all the changes, I'm just so used to the new way, and at times rather stunned when I go back into CS6 ... for me, that's a lot harder to work in.

  • Trial version of Pre 5.5 doesnt have Mpeg2-dvd... why?

Hello, I've been using various editing software for a while making silly home movies and the like but I was looking to get some real clout behind me and push for a job in editing or maybe start up editing old home movies.  I've used adobe premiere in college and was looking to buy it so I downloaded a trial version to see whats what.  I've read a few tutorials and wanted to publish a DVD to see what the quality compares to but after capturing my footage I found that I was missing a few codecs one of them being the MPEG2-DVD.  The funny thing is that the trial version specifically states that it comes with this codec.  I'm running windows 7 home prem, with an asus M4a88T-usb3 motherboard and a 6x speed AMD 2.4 processor.  I'm ok with computers but I'm wondering if there's a problem with Windows 7 and this codec.
Is there any way of updating this before the trial runs out?
    Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have this and Mpeg2-DVD option is available in CS5.5 trial, the only possible difference that can be is I have CS5 Serialised version installed my my machine..
Do you have CS5 Installed and licenced on your machine on which you have installed CS5.5 Trial ?
I will try to check this now if this can be the reason why you are not getting this option..

if you follow all 7 steps, you can download a trial via one of the links on this page using a browser that accepts cookies:  http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a download problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that's (a restrictive browser setting) another potential source of problems.

I created project in iMovie then exported it to MP4 and also MOV file at highest definition possible + I added it to iDVD and had a number issues about encoding errors regarding the mp4 file. MOV worked but the quality was terrible.....
    MOV file is as follows:

    Colour Profile: HD (1-1-1)
    Dimensions: 1920 x 1080

First of all, Hunt--thanks for responding!
"First, where are you playing the MPEG-2, that you see that jitter?"
On both a MacBook Pro, an Acer laptop and my Mac Tower. I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.
"Another thing that can cause jitter in an MPEG-2 is the Bit-Rate - higher the Bit-Rate, the better the quality, but the larger the file. For a DVD, one is limited by the total Bit-Rate (both Audio & Video), but with longer prodcutions, some users choose too low a Bit-Rate. If this is the issue, one would need to go back to the original Project and do a new Export/Share."
Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Media Coder Failing with MPEG2-DVD and H.264 Blu-Ray Encode

I am useing Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 8.0.0.173 build.
    I am a CC subscriber.
I am importing a Premiere Pro CC 2014 timeline.
I also have Premiere Pro CS6, Photoshop CC and CS6, Encore CS6, Lightroom 5, Indesign CC and CS6 installed.  Just updated all apps from the cloud.
When exporting the timeline to MPEG2-DVD I get the failed status.
In the text note section this is the result: MXF decode error in "J:\Murray-Gross Wedding\CLIPS001\AA0068\AA006802.MXF" at frame 16339. Frame 16316 was substituted.
    I had several frames substituted.
I tried both the Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration and I also tried the software only version.
    The original footage is;
    MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
    File generated by: CANON, XF100
    MPEG-2 422 Long-GOP
I was able to export the timeline to an avi file from Pro CC 2014.  But P Pro told me that the export had failed.  When I checked the folder though the avi file was there.
I am running Windows 7 home premium.
I need to make a DVD of this footage.  And would prefer not to reformat the avi file I created.  Thanks in advance.

Do you get encode complete with Errors or are you getting encode failed (no encoded file)?  The reason frames were substituted is because the source file had errors or other problems.  So during import, PPro and AME substitute bad frame with adjacent good frame and continue to import.  But if there are way too many bad errors and source is too corrupted, it may not be able to import it correctly and won't be able to export.  so let us know if you get exported file and you are just curious what the error message was or if you don't get encoded files going to MPEG2-DVD at all.

  • Slow rendering from DVCPro-HD to MPEG2-DVD?

I have a home built PC with a quadcore 9450 chip, 8GB ram, Vista-64 Business, Mercury rendering (GTX460) - so it's not a particularly slow machine. My current project is 2 hours, 45 minutes long, shot on DVC-Pro HD 720-30P.  It is one continuous take from a concert.  I've added chapter points for each song, but otherwise have not edited it (besides mixing the audio levels.)  With CS5, to export to MPEG2-DVD (VBR-one pass, quality level 5) takes about 16 to 17 hours.  A friend with an i7 computer (which I built for him) says I need to contact Adobe because it should not be taking that long to render.  If I import the Premiere sequence directly into Encore, that render takes only a few hours (not sure of the exact time) but the quality sucks.  My 17 hour render looks pretty awesome for such a long project.   With CS4 and a similar length project, it was around 7 or 8 hours with the same machine.   Is something wrong, or is it normal for such long render times?

If I understand it correctly, your time-line is 2:45 (hh:mm) long and takes around 17 hours to export. Correct?
That is pretty good for a Q9450 with 8 GB RAM. Those systems are on average around 15 - 20 times slower than a fast system with MPEG2-DVD export, so it would take a fast system around 1 hour. Now that looks like a perfectly acceptable figure. You have to keep in mind that with hardware MPE you can only compare that with CS4 export times with MRQ (Maximum Render Quality) turned on, and my guess is that you are comparing it to CS4 times WITHOUT MRQ.
Have a look at the PPBM5 Benchmark and notice where the Q9450 systems are. They are all pretty close to the bottom of the list.
Seeing those results, one can argue your statement.
so it's not a particularly slow machine.
Of course much depends on your particular time-line, but if I take my benchmark results (with a lowly i7-920) versus another Q9450 system, I guess that my export times with your time-line would be around 1:06.
Maybe not the reaction you were looking for, but I can't change statistical results.
@ Colin: The OP never said he has MRQ enabled. Where do you get that from? He said he had hardware MPE enabled. And with his timeline, setting MRQ on would not influence his export times, since there is nothing in his single track time-line to profit from MRQ and it is all handled by the MPE engine. At least in this case.

  • Cs3 export for mpeg2-dvd settings -happy as a clam-

    Hi,
    Im using CS3...
I want to export from CS3 to mpeg2-dvd preset ( ntsc high quality, which is set to 4 out of 5 on the quality slider setting )
    My footage is 720x480i 29.97, 16:9
The dvd will be watched on computer and Digital TV ... so I'm thinking I will convert to progressive.
My bitrates in the preset are:
    min: 1.5
    avg: 4
    max: 7
    gop m frames 3
    n frames 15
The file size exported is 1.4 gig.   It looks OK but not great compared to timeline playback.  I've been looking at my notes ---about making exports----but I am so happy ( happy as a clam ! ) ...that I even managed to get a 51 minute story out of this source material ( walking and walking and walking , long story..., not to mention probs with the continuity ).... as I was saying, I am so happy with the product--- I was thinking maybe there's some good advice re: export while I go get some beer to celebrate !
..... I was wondering if you all might have some suggestions for changing my bitrate settings to give me a better quality export....and I will then burn a DVD someday with that exported file.
    Rod

    Hi ,
Thanks Bill..yes, I've looked at those threads, those guys are incredibly
    cool...very knowledgeable....
Oddly enough a lot of what they know has come from experimenting and "trial
and error" type stuff....or else is wouldn't be as original and good as it
    is.
    I admire that.
I'm going to up my avg bitrate and see what happens...screw around with that
a few times ...see how it goes...
You see, at the moment I am just doing the video, no stills ( no slide show)
and no music track ...so that will change as I add more stuff....the
bitrates and overall compression.. I do , thanks to all you guys, know that
much...Just thought I would go get some beers and ask for 51 mins for the
preset of mpeg2-dvd- from CS3 might be....what a better rate might be right
    off the bat....
    No big deal.
You have no idea !!!! I am sure happy clams make everything better, whether
it's chowder or broadway plays !!!!  (or was that about investing clams? )

  • CS3-mpeg2-dvd export files

Hi, and thanks for your help on this..
I just exported from media encoder , cs3, a 90 sec clip of graphics and sound from a project that is set up for avi type 2 dv ntsc 720x480i, lower field first to mpeg2 dvd high quality, dolby... I changed the dolby to pcm and went from quality 4 to 5, and left the bitrate defaults..
It generated 4 files....with these extensions:
    m2v
    m2v.xmpses
    wav
    xmp
When I double click the m2v file media classic opens the file and plays it, and it looks great and the sound is good.
When I drop the m2v file into gspot it says it is a video file ( no audio ).
I'm going to burn a DVD eventually and am new at this ....so I am not really used to the file types that DVD authoring programs require for the BEST dvd quality....and am wondering....how are those files linked ( wav and m2v ) ...through which other file generated, and is it normal to expect a DVD authoring program to recognize the video and sound files ( apparently demuxed during export ? ).  Thanks !
    Rod

    Stan, thanks!
Thank God, the thing is acceptable on a normal TV.
The next one I do will have the chapters and scenes and stuff, so I'll find out more about those other file exports...the xmpses ? ...
My map graphic that I pan /zoom on is maxed out at 4000px for CS3, and I guess that's why I see the edges of the countries getting sawtoothed....not great...but like I said, acceptable...it gets way better as I Zoom in.....and the rest is just great....no problems with text and so on...
The sound is a bit loud though...I wonder if I should tell my brother who is giving me the sound stuff to keep to a certain db level for DVD authoring...it's no big deal, but it's kinda loud right now...
What a relief.  I think I have at least half a chance now to make a decent edit for this friend of mine for his safari trip..
Bill Hunt has a grid he made for 4:3 and THAT worked perfect !....   I'm right where I thought I would be within TV safety...
If I play this now with a DTV (which I don't have) I bet that sawtooth stuff won't be so bad.....
All in all this has been a great day just from this success....   thanks a lot for your quick response, and I will keep all the files exported from the mpeg2 dvd setting to fine tune this later on ....as I get further along with the project.
    Thanks

  • Big Problems with PP - AE - Encore MPEG2-DVD export

    Hey guys & gals
For the last two days I have pretty much torn the remaining hair from my scalp...
I have a 190 minute 1920x1080 25p Video, all prepared in Premiere Pro.
The Video has ONE audio track and THREE video tracks.
Each of the Video tracks has some transitions (in my case: Roll Away (page peel)).
One of the vids is the main video, the two others should appear in Picture-in-Picture Frames created with After Effects.
The end result should then be rendered to MPEG2-DVD and a DVD created with Encore.
Here are my two (?) problems.
Problem 1: Premiere Pro & After Effects
    - When replacing my nested sequences (each video track is its own nest) and send it to AE all seems well.
    - However: None of my transitions will render out of AE (basically clip 1 cuts right away to clip 2 without the transition)
Problem 2: MPEG2-DVD export - sound is too short
    - When I render my footage to MPEG2-DVD using AME, the sound is always too short.
    - Example: I got a 24 min chapter and the sound only lasts around 23 minutes. Then it just goes silent while the rest of the video plays.
    - (I multiplexed the sound into the MPEG2 file).
    Possible Solution?
I have tried so many things already... Now I am thinking about this:
Is this a solution for #1?:
    - export every video track separately and lossless (Windows Media, 1920x1080 25p ?)
    - export the sound sound track as AAC sound.
    - Create a new timeline with the newly rendered (have all transitions in them) videos.
    - THEN send them to AE again. AE does its thing.
For Problem #2 (sound too short) I have no idea right now. That is the most vexing of my problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards from Berlin,
    Michael

Thanks John & tfi for clearing up the audio/video issue!
I will try that now - I am confident your advise works!
As far as my system is concerned: Pretty fast i7 with multiple disks, Software is Creative Cloud Subscription (so all should be up-to-date).
Maybe I don't get this whole Premiere / After Effects combo. I am a PPro advanced user, but an absolute AE noob
So: I have a sequence in PPro. It has all kinds of transition effects in there, such as the "roll away" page peel.
When I replace the sequence with an AE comp, I lose my transitions. In AE it shows all of the effects, such as 'roll away' between the clips, but they all have 0 duration.
AE cuts from one clip to another without the transition.
I hope I don't have to render my three videos out to lossless WMF or something and then put them in AE. In total, I have 6 disks with 90 chapters to go. That would be 270 exports before I can even begin working in AE...
Again, thanks guys! And more help is even more appreciated

  • Where to burning MPEG2-DVD format with?

Since Adobe got rid of Encore and I do not have CS6 to downgrade, I am looking for an free, alternative programm to burn PP MPEG2-DVD format with.
Do I need a DVD-Authoring software or can simply windows burn the files on DVD for players to read?
    Thx,
    Alex

As far as I know, you MUST install Premiere Pro CS6 to get Encore, there is no separate install of Encore
I have seen mention of then uninstalling P-Pro CS6, with being careful to uncheck the option to uninstall Encore
    CS5-thru-CC PPro/Encore tutorial list http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1448923 may help
The bottom section of the link above has several Adobe links, and other information, on downloading Premiere Pro CS6 and the bundled Encore CS6, and the TWO ADDED downloads for the Encore library content, to author a DVD or BluRay... and the tutorial list includes learning how to use Encore... pay particular attention to the picture in reply 3 at this link - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1516173 (picture first posted by Ann Bens and reposted by Stan Jones)

  • X-Fi detected as Extreme Gamer -WHY ? + how to tell which firmware card has (vide nF4 proble

    Hello.
The pictures say it all - new rev. of card, detected as Extreme Gamer. What is going on ?
    http://photos.allegro.pl/photos/oryg...0723/2307235_3
    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/274/hhhch8.jpg
BTW : the explanation by Creative of the new revisions is most disturbing : the say that they refined the production process, and as result new chips generate more heat ... AND ... they are looking forward into REFINING IT MORE so that they can, here's the best part, reduce the heat emission to level that previous cards had.
I mean ,what the ... ? What kind of rifining is that ?
OK, all in al, I would like someone (hopefully from CREATIVE) to explain it to me - first of all the wierd Extreme Gamer thing, and "the new revisions" thing.
In addition I have another question - I am willing to buy X-Fi. Right now I own a nForce2 based mobo, and in near future (I can not tell how near, or how far) I am going to upgrade the whole PC. It could happen that I end up with nF4 board. The question is : is there any way to verify which firmare version the card has (because I am aware that in case of problems with nF4's, X-Fi cards were replaced with units with new firmware). How do I tell the difference between them ?
Message Edited by Suchy0 on 08-27-2006 03:2 AM

My X-Fi is a Dell OEM one.
I assume is a new revision because the disposition of the capacitors is different to the pictures I've seen of the early X-Fi retail ones, and it has a radiator on the chip.
It's being running flawlessly on my rig for about six weeks now.
This is a brief summary of the hardware installed on it:
DFI NF2 UltraInfinity with custom BIOS (homemade tweaks here and there, including new SATA Bios and some fiddling with memory timings/latency, nothing very serious).
Athlon XP3200+ 400 Mhz (Barton core... big troublemaker)
    Thermaltake SilentTower Cooler
    Gb DDR-SDRAM PC3200 (2x52) Infineon slightly overvolted/overclocked (2.80v / 2.5-3-3-7)
Antec TrueBlue 350w PSU (Slowly decaying... the 2v rail is going all over the place, shouting for a new one...)
Asus V9999 GeForce 6800 GT now running on stock clocking (or my PSU will just quit).
    ViewSonic VX2025w
    Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 60Gb 8Mb Cache SATA50 OEM HDD on SATA 0
SpinPoint P Series SP082C 80 Gb on SATA
    Lite-On DVDRW SHM-65P6S on IDE 0
    NEC DVDRW ND-3500AG on IDE
SB X-Fi ExtremeMusic (Dell OEM) in PCI #4 (IRQ 7, not shared)
TP-Link TL-WN650G Wireless Adapter in PCI #5 (IRQ 8, not shared)
Onboard SoundStorm enabled (I use it for ventrilo with a headset)
I run WindowsXP SP2 with all the latest patches/updates (Goddess bless AutoPatcher ^^).
APIC enabled on BIOS and running "ACPI Uniprocessor PC" HAL.
I also have far too much junk installed. For the MB I use the 5.0 drivers (all but the IDE driver)
For the SoundStorm the 4.62 release.
For the X-Fi I use the YouP-Pax 3.33 drivers. (drivers only, no bloatware TYVM)
    For the 6800GT I use the XTreme-G 9.45 drivers.
For the WLAN card I use heavily hacked Atheros drivers (4..2.37 based).
Now, I'm not friend of FPS's, so the only game I've played that qualifies as such is Prey, dri'ven by curiosity more than anything else. The X-Fi behaved during gameplay. No popping/crackling/crashing/jumping/skipping or hopping.
I've extensi'vely played Oblivion (absolutely brilliant, worth every penny, pity my rig can barely cope with it), Dungeon Siege II: Broken World, Final Fantasy XI (can't get over this one... everytime I decide to quit I find myself playing again) and Syberia II (I love this kind of games... pity no one does them anymore...). Again no problems.
I also played a few movies (DVD, DivX, XviD...) with no issues whatsoever.
And my music (both compressed and uncompressed) sounds brilliant.
Not too bad for a $9 investment ^^Message Edited by MrToad on 08-28-2006 2:05 AM
