Which presets for HD material?

I have some HD material (1280x720/ 30fps) but I can't figure out which presets to use in CS4. I tried some, like "HDV 1080p30". But in all of them the sound works but the image only shows the first frame.
I don't think it's a hardware problem bacause it works fine in WMP.
Hope someone can tell what I'm doing wrong!

Thank you for your helpful answer. I watched your toolkit video and followed all the steps. However, when trying to open my .avi video file in VirtualDub, I get the following message:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'H264' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
What to do....?

Which Preset for HD?

I'm editing a photo montage. I videotaped 100 photos with my SONY Z5U Camcorder in 1080i (progressive mode). I then used Premiere to export the timeline to 100 stills (bmps) which are all 1920x1080. Which preset do I use to edit the montage?
AVC-Intra-1080p-AVC-I 100 1080p30 (1920x1080) square pixels
AVC-Intra-1080p-AVC-I 50 1080p30 (1440x1080) HD Anamophic 1080
or something else?

I use Canopus Imaginate but there are other Photo Montage software's available.
Another I have used is muvee Reveal/autoProducer.
Photographers are not Videographers and have a plethora of tools geared towards them making Photo Montages fairly effortlessly.
If you do a WWW search and check out a few, I bet you'll find one that's pretty simple to use.
They usually have different themes or vibes and you just select your photos and hit GO.
View and Adjust your output to your taste.
iPhoto has it built in so I'm sure other Photo Management softwares also have this feature.
The thing is to find the one that has all the options you need with a not so steep learning curve.
Encore DVD has the ability to do Photo Slideshows too, ya know.

You're on the right track. Don't let people here or anywhere else tell you that there is only 1way to bake a cake or edit videos/photos.
Although there is a General Way that us with formal education in Video have learned to do things; It's your Ends that will justify the Means.

Which preset for Flash?

I have Premiere CS3. I made an 18 minute video for a company. They want a Flash version for their website and I have no experience in this area. The manual just says to choose one, and the Classroom in a Book uses the example of NTSC 512 kbps. I don't know which one to use or why. Any advice would be appreciated.

The choice will depend on the file size (for download speed, basically), that their (your clients') site requires. You might have to ask their Webmaster what he/she wants/requires. The quality will likely be better, if you choose the fastest connection preset, but that might not work on the design of the specific site, and the file size will very likely be larger.
It's like doing output for print advertising - one has to call the printer and ask for specifics. Any good Webmaster will be glad to instruct you as to their specific requirements.

Fetch data from Database View /VSO/R_V_PAL
Fields:
MATNR - Material Number
VHART - Packaging Material Type
WERKS - Plant
SPRAS - Language Key
MAKTX - Material description
You can fetch material numbers based on Packing Material Type.
Go to SE11 -> Choose View/Database radiobutton and enter /VSO/R_V_PAL -> Choose display -> Display entries -> you can restrict the records to be displayed by entering proper values in selection screen.
Go to SE16 -> enter /VSO/R_V_PAL -> Choose display -> Display entries -> you can restrict the records to be displayed by entering proper values in selection screen.

Which --Project Properties--Preset for 1920x1080 HDV 1080p30 footage?

New to the HD world and have to make lower third for my footage. My media frame size is 1920x1080 and the compressor is HDV 1080p30. (I shot it progressive because it is for the web)
I don't see a preset for HDV 1080p30? Just presets for (HDV 1080i60), (HDV 1080i50), and (HDV 1080p24). Where is the preset for HDV 1080p30 and/or which one should I use to make my lower third over the footage?

Motion Project presets are not codec specific, they just set up the project size, aspect ratio, field order and frame rate.
Pick one that matches your footage, or you can use "import as project" to create a project based on the footage you import.

Which sequence preset for .mp4 movies

I'm making a compilation video using clips from already existing hollywood movies. The movies are mostly 720p .mp4's. Which preset should I select when I start a new sequence?

I don't have segments from the movies. Just the complete movies. So how do I get all the segments together.
That's what you do with Premiere.
You select segments of various clips and put them
together in a particular order in one Timeline... editing.
I don't know what the preferred order will be just yet.
Don't worry... just start pulling together the pieces you want to use.
You don't need to immediately determine what your preferred order
or durations will be. You can easily change it later... nonlinear editing.
I want to extract all the 2-3 minute clips and get those into the project and then be able to load those onto the timeline and trim what I want.
Then... do just that.
Pick out the 2-3 minute segments you might want to use,
throw them all together on one Timeline, then start figuring
out what order, what to trim etc.

CS4 Presets for Canon HF M30 series

Hi,
I am new to Adobe. I have a Canon HF M300 camcorder. I have a recording in XP+ mode which is 1440X1080 at 29.97 fps. I was wondering,when I create a new project in Adobe Premeire Pro CS4, which preset should I be using? Does it matter at all? Also, what export setting should I be using for creating a DVD (not blu-ray)?

Welcome to the forum.
It matters greatly, that you choose the Preset, that matches your footage 100%. If that material is AVCHD Lite, there should be such a Preset in CS4.2 and above. If there is not, you will want to choose the Desktop Preset, where you can customize almost every attribute to match.
For DVD, you have two choices: Export as DV-AVI, Import into En and let it do the Transcoding, or to Export to DVD-compliant MPEG-2, and Import that inot Encore.

We have a scenario in which the material is configurable. The configurable material (X) has few variants (Ex: X1, X2, X3, X4, X5). While booking the sale order, we use the material number (X).
Further, the material planning is done for the variants X1, X2, X3, X4, X5. The standard variants are planned for production in advance.
1.     While booking the sale order, we want the availability check of the stock (type matching to happen). What needs to be done in configuration?
2.     While booking the sale order, there is a possibility that the configuration selected will not match with any of the standard variants due to some additional requirements of the optional features, in such cases how to link the standard variants to the sale order & create requirement for additional requirements.

           2.Maintain BOM for the configurable material in CS01
           3. Configur the variant configuration steps
              a. Create charecteristics T.code CT04
              b. Create values and assign classes
              c. assign the values to charecteristics
              d . Maitain dependence T.code CU01
              e.create configuration profile t.code CU41
              f.stimulate the configuration profile.
4. Do the availability check configuration through this path
IMG --> Sales and distribution > Basic functions ,> Availabilty check and Transfer of requirements.
5. Maintain the Availbility check field and MRP views in the material masters other wise you sit with PP people and do that

From your comments what I understood is that for a particular FERT, you are procuring one component from the buyer, assembling it and invoicing to the same customer.
If this is the scenario, I dont know how you can invoice without maintaining BOM for that.
If the client dont want to maintain BOM for the same, the only option is as follows to my knowledge.
Whenever the client receives the component, take credit of the duty amount by updating <b>J1IH</b>. While doing PGI, since you have not maintained this component in BOM, stock will <i>ONLY</i> reduce for other components. So no-where, your client can track the customers component.
Parallelly, apart from selling price, to the extent of excise duty value, one more condition (say ABCD, to be maintained. So in your pricing procedure, the assessable value should be PR00 + ABCD for which, the excise duty should be captured so that the client can recover the duty amount from customer.
Finally, for this practice, the client should maintain datas (how many procured and how many invoiced) manually to convince the government officials but then, I am not sure, how far this will be accepted by the officials.

Unable To Use DVDSP4 Presets for HD-DVD in the H.264 Format

I recently prepared a 23 minute slide show using Fotomagico from high resolution Hasselblad slides scanned in at 1200 dpi. Within Fotomagico I rendered the Fotomagico slide show to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, took it into Final Cut Pro 6.03 and added an intro and closing section. I then sent this to Compressor and selected the 30 minute HD-DVD preset which uses mpeg2. All went fine with the encoding to mpeg2 and I got a successful build and format out of DVDSP4 after importing the resulting .m2v file into DVDSP4. However, while the disk plays back fine in my Mac Pro it plays back with stuttering (audio and video) on my Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player. I used a Verbatim Datalife DVD+R, but several other discs from other manufactuers including a DVD-R disc showed the same problem.
Please note that I have the latest firmware on my Toshiba HD-A2 and I have successfully burned RL HD-DVD discs using my PC and Windows software (Ulead's DVD Movie Factory 6+) which play fine without stuttering on my HD-A2.
I then decided to send the project to Compressor and use the 60 minute HD-DVD preset that encodes to H.264. Once again Compressor successfully executed the encode of my 23 minute slide show and it plays fine in QuickTime or MPEG StreamClip. However, every time I try and import this .mov file encoded in H.264 using the Compressor preset for HD-DVD into DVDSP4, DVDSP4 brings it in to the assets folder, but after a couple of seconds DVDSP4 crashes. Using console I get a message that DVDSP4 quit unexpectedly due to a "segmentation fault".
I also tried to take the ProRes Fotomagic project in Final Cut Pro 6.02 and send it out with Quicktime Conversion using the H.264 codec. Again I have a file that plays fine in QT, but when I try and import this .mov file into DVDSP4, I get the message "imcompatible format".
In summary, I am completely frustrated after many many hours of work at trying to prepare an HD-DVD on red laser of my slide show in DVDSP4. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, and I would be most appreciative of any suggestions anyone may have.

Am I the only person who has ever tried to use the Presets in Compressor 3 for encoding HD-DVD disks? I would like to use these presets for burning HD-DVD's to standard red laser media as I have done on my PC. With the mpeg2 Preset I can get nothing but stuttering video when played back on my Toshiba HD-A2 and when I use Compressor 3 to encode with either of the H264 presets, the resulting .mov file causes DVDSP4 to crash when I import the file. Has no one else experienced this? Does anyone have any thoughts on addressing these issues other than to go back to working on my PC?

Multiple Posting change notice created for one material document

Hi All,
The scenario is that the user needs to transfer material from unrestricted to quality stock type. while doing so the storage type is different than the actual storage type for the material. Meaning if the material is normally stored in high rack storage type, when it is found that the material is damaged or expired it need to be moved to the quality storage type. For this the user will first create material document in IM with movement type 322 transferring material from unrestricted stock to qualtiy stock. A PCN will be created in back ground which will in turn be converted manually by the user to a TO. while doing so the user will pick the quant manually from the required storage type and select the destination storage type as the quality or quanranntine area.
The issue here is that system creates one PCN for each material document line item. The requirement is that the system should create only one PCN with multiple lines for one Material document.
The setting in the movememnt type clearly says that it will behave as it is behaving.
Is there any other way or setting by which we can create one PCN with multiple line items for a material document.

Thanks and Sorry for the delayed reply. We have now convinced the users that the system behaviour is standard and we cannot change the same.
To your question about the need to have one PCN with multiple lines please note that the setup is such that when material document is created for transferring material from unrestricted to quality and vice versa this document is created with multiple materials in one go. Now when the PCN is to be converted to TO then the user ends up in creating number of TO's equal to the number of lines in the Material Document. We wanted to avoid this and hence this was posted in SDN.
