Which Printer for iMac w/Intel?

I finally bought a rebuilt iMac with Intel and now discover that my printer will not work with it. Can someone recommend a printer that I can just plug in and go or set up for wireless without having to go on line and download a bunch of stuff? Make this as simple as possible please!
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Sheila Kobs

There are a lot of different types of printers out there.  I have several ... each for a different purpose.
If you want to print to standard size paper then take a look at Canon

I have the MX860 and find it does a great job for what I ask of it.

  • Suggestions for a laser printer for iMac Intel Core 2 duo?

    Hi all,
I'm tired of changing expensive ink cartridges, mostly because they dry out before I get to use them up. I find that I mostly do B & W text printing so don't need color and am thinking of getting an inexpensive B & W laser printer, figuring that the laser cartridges last a lot longer than ink ones. It would be nice to have one that could also do copying like a Xerox machine and in fact I saw some today at Staples which were all under $200.
My question is which one will actually work reliably with my iMac 17" Intel Core 2 Duo (1 gb RAM, 2GHtz)?
So is there anyone out there who has an iMac like mine as well as such a printer with which they are well satisfied?
    TIA
    Rick

    Hi Doug,
I can't locate your exact model (1013) on the net, only references to parts for it. I like the "plug and play" feature but it's possible that your model is no longer made. Too bad, because that would have been my choice I WILL, however, have the sledgehammer handy when I finally get a laser printer!
    Thanks.

  • Finding a printer for imac G3 using OS 9.0.4

I have a refurbished iMac G3 slot CD running OS 9.0.4. I got this more or less free and am trying to set it up for my sister (low income and new to computers) to run email and Apple Works). I need to identify a cheap printer she can use but all the ones I can see are OS X only. I used to be a Mac user but for the past 6 years have been using PCs, so am a bit out of the loop technically. I don't really want to upgrade the machine, which is running really well and very clean right now, till I am sure she will use it and am looking for low cost solutions. Can anyone help please? sory if this has been asked a million times already.. (I'm in the UK btw )

I agree that used is the way to go, I recommend looking locally and make sure you can return it if it doesn't work for you.
I don't know if you can do this with thrift shops where you are, but I have had good luck with my local Goodwill thrift store when I wanted to get a printer for my daughter. I found a very nice Epson 740 that I already had the driver CD for, because I owned one, and that I know will work with OS 9.whatever. I cheated and brought a Wallstreet with the driver already installed to the store, so I could test it, and the printer cable. (I was getting the printer to go with a Wallstreet so there would be no USB.) I would imagine, although I have not checked, that most older printer drivers would still be available online to download from the manufacturers' websites.
I don't know if you need to update to OS 9.2, it wouldn't hurt, but it would definitely be a good idea to get up to OS 9.1, it's much more "finished". I still use 9, I like it a lot and I still don't think it was broken or unstable or any or that. The only reason I'm using X 10.4 is because that's what came on my iMac G5!

  • Black and white laser printer for Imac running 8.6 os

Does anyone know of a laser printer for my older Imac running 8.6 os?

    jackson hole 88,
The 300-320-360 series was nice and 10 ppm but no ethernet. Jump right to the 600 series, including the 16/600 or the 640. Find a recycler that refurbishes them. You can get printers there for as low as $25. Buy two and have spare parts. Toner is still available for that series at affordable prices.

  • Which printer for my Mac (and Windows 7 PCs)?

Our printer just died and I need to purchase one tomorrow. I'll be buying it locally (not from the internet, etc.) and I've narrowed it down to these models so far:
    Epson Stylus SX525WD
    Manufacturer's website
    Brother DCP-J715W
    Manufacturer's website
    HP Photosmart Wireless eAiO
    Manufacturer's website
    Canon MFC Pixma MP499
    Manufacturer's website
    HP Deskjet 2050 AiO
    Manufacturer's website
    My primary concerns are:
    1) scanning; I'm not too worried about getting the printer to work on my Mac, but I'd like to be able to use the device to scan from my MBP running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, without VueScan (which I tried and dislike very much) - so either with Image Capture or with software provided by the vendor, if it's any good.
    2) Wi-Fi; most models listed feature Wi-Fi (except the Deskjet 2050 AiO, AFAICT) - I've never had Wi-Fi printing before so I'm unsure of what issues to expect - I figure maybe some printers will be easier to setup with a Mac and/or work better. It'd be nice if the scan function could work wirelessly too, though it's no big deal if it doesn't.
    3) photo printing; the printer will be used to print photos occasionally, so it'd be nice if the printer offered a good photo printing experience (sorry I can't be more specific - I'm not the one using the printer for photos).
Also, if you have one of these printers (or an equivalent model), I'd be very interested in your impressions of the printer.
Edit: removed a printer which turned out to be only available online

Well, I managed to get the printer to connect to my AirPort Extreme base station (was fairly straightforward).
Then I wasn't sure how to install the wireless printer with built-in OS X tools, so I ended up using the disc that came with the printer. Installed fine, and I can print and scan wirelessly

  • What's a good printer for iMac 10.5.6?

I need a printer for my new iMac. My old printer doesn't work on it. It considers it Classic.

My two oldest printers were built way, way before Classic. They're still in daily use with my newest computers and with my Airport network. If you're amenable to doing a little bit of legwork you can probably get yours to work too.
Here is HP's latest driver for your Deskjet 932C.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=dj-13823-4 &lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=61236
This driver improves printer connection reliability and stability, as well as print speed and print output improvements. It supports Deskjet printers with USB connectors on the printer, as well as network printing for those models that support Network printing.
Nothing Classic about it. HP says it supports OS X through 10.4.x but that's not surprising coming from them. It will probably work with Leopard too.
As someone here pointed out, the "greenest" printers are those that don't go in the trash. Many new printers are little more than cheap disposable junk.

  • Which printer for photoshop

which printer is best for photoshop and has postscript capabilities, RIP options and can read halftones ?? for screenprinting

While I don't have an answer, I can tell you that you will get better answers with more info.
    What is the end target?
    Proofing?
    Hobby?
Selling individual photos? Premium or basic?
    Fine art prints?
Cutting stencils for direct screen printing?
    Making camera ready separations?
    Something else?
Are you happy to spend $10 or more per page, or do you want something economical?
What do you mean "read halftones"?

  • Compatible printer for iMac Leopard

I am trying to find a relatively trouble free postscript compatible printer for my new iMac Leopard that will print an image in the 13"x19"... after reading criticisms on Amazon, there seems to be a lot of problem with HPs and Epsons compatibility and not having upgraded drivers for Leopard available. Any suggestions? [email protected]

  • Can't scan from HP 7520 Printer for iMac using Yosemite 10.10.1

We have a new iMac that is running on Yosemite 10.10.1.  I am trying to get the scan from printer function to work, but the HP window on the printer didn't register the computer.
So I downloaded and installed the  driver for OSX 10.10 from the HP website.  The window on the 7520 now lists the computer when I click the scan function, but the scan fails, and the window says the computer is not connected.
The name on the downloaded file says it is for "Mavericks," so I thought maybe it dosen't work with Yosemite?
When I open the printer scanning settings on the iMac, it tells me that the "enable scan" function isn't working, and that I need to download the latest software from HP.
    I thought I did that.
Is there a  way to make this work?
    Thanks....

  • Need a compatible laserjet printer for imac (2009) OSX10.10

I need a new printer and would like a laser jet, if possible.  I have a 2009 iMac with OSX10.10 Yosemite.  This is just for my home use and don't need anything fancy.  Please help with a compatible recommendation.

There are too many to list by every laser manufacturer. I'd suggest determining   your needs such as do you want/need color, do you want/need a multifunction (i.e. scan, fax, copy, print) etc. then once you have determined your needs visit your local office supply store and look to see which are OS X compatible.

  • Power Consumption for iMac 20" INTEL DUO CORE

I need to know which is the power consumption for the 20" 2.16 GHz INTEL CORE DUO. I want to buy a UPS for this machine and I could not figure out in any place within the manual where to get that information. It is something that have to be very easy to find but it was not the case for me in this opportunity.
I cannot believe that I have to create a post in order to get this answer!
Kind regards to all and thanks for any clue that any one can give me.

  • Which system for iMac 400MHz 384MB RAM?

    Hello,
I'm going to buy old iMac with 400MHz G3, 384MB RAM and 10GB HDD. Please, what is your experience with Jaguar/Panther/Tiger on such computer? Which one is most suitable/swift? I'd like to do programming most (Xcode), no extreme audio/video.
    Thank you for your answers

When buying a used iMac G3 refer to this table - it will give you a good idea whether the specs on ebay are bull or not - it especially helps in finding out the exact colour of iMac you're getting and the VRAM/Video card etc. For example there never was a 500MHz iMac with CD-ROM (unless the owner built it to order).
First question. I've never had any success with booting form an external USB device - it's worth a go though!
If not; use the Media Exchange Programme from Apple to exchange your Tiger DVD for CDs.
Second question: iMac Slot Loaders have 2 x PC100 168pin DIMM slots under a fold open cover (no screw driver required - just a coin!). In my experience, under OS 9, I used to throw in any old cheap RAM - bought from anywhere cheap (I was at Uni at the time - and my house mates (PC owners) and I would chop and change computer parts all over! The final state I maxed it out with 1Gb of PC133 RAM from Crucial and my mother is now using that machine at university . Personally I've found newer Macs (i.e. iMac G4 is my latest) and OS X to be more fussy when it comes to RAM. I would recommend buying from a Mac friendly supplier if you plan on using OS X.
It needn't be much more expensive (- and you'll get it half the price we pay over here). Check out RAMSEEKER for good prices. Obviously living this side of the world I have no real experience of their service - but it is reputed to be good!
Before you install OS X on an iMac G3 for the first time you must update the firmware (whilst booted in OS 9.1).
    Hope this helps.

  • Which printer for Leopard....?

    Hi,
For reasons best known to apple and related to bootcamp, I had to upgrade to Leopard. Now, my HP 4255 all in one still exists as a printer in the eyes of my macbook, but printing from all programs has ceased: the job gets to the queue and stalls.
I have tried all of the resetting, Gimp Print, Gutenprint, Foomatic options I believe, but nothing. I understand this is an old printer and that it is unsupported in the new operating system, I also see the internet is littered with such storys. It transpires that the printer still happily chugs away by switching to windows of course, because i still use XP...
Can anybody suggest what Leopard will print to and scan from for a small (and I mean small...) home office? I would be delighted if there was an A3 option...
thanks guys, It's hard getting info out of apple, I'd be lost without the community of users....
