Which printers actually work on Macbook 10.4.11, recommendations.

Can anyone recommend a printer model that will definately work on a macbook 10.4.11, have had massive problems with a hp printer (deskjet f4180) which was supposed to be compatible according to HP. Does anyone have a personal recommendation of a printer, which in their own experience actually works with the latest tiger software 10.4.11, and also on a macbook intel - ! Many thanks.

ALthough I strongly recommend at least 1 GB of RAM for iPhoto - it (according to the specs) will run with 512 MB but you will be much happier with more RAM - and you should always have a min of 10 GB of hard drive space available for general operation of your Mac

  • Can anyone recommend a printer which will actually work with mac 10.4.11 ?

Hi all! I have had problems getting a printer which will actually work with my macbook 10.4.11. I've tried HP deskjet f4180 (supposed to be compatible) and various lexmarks (no compatible software). Apple and hp, and my local curry's have not been able to assure me which printer will DEFINATELY work. I just wanted to hear from other Mac users with 10.4.11, if they had actually been able to find a printer which works properly. Would be greatful for any recommendations of printer's which are actually compatible with the updated tiger 10.4.11
    Many thanks.
    Crazynow!!

I read your previous posts, but had just upgraded to 10.4.11 & hadn't check my printers. All 3 of these work: Apple laserwriter 360, Brother HL 1440, and Brother MFC 7820N. I print to all of these wirelessly via airport.

  • Which printers will work with my ipad

does anyone have a list of wireless printers that will work with ipads?

This link includes a list of current AirPrint-enabled printers.
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html
There are also wways to print to printers connected to the same wi-fi network as the iPad.

  • What printers work on MacBook Pro Wireless or Airport Express Connected

I still cannot get my Samsung 1750 to print more than one time before having to reboot the AE. I am getting sick of this and worse, I am rather annoyed that Apple is not fixing what seems to be a reather pervasive problem affecting most every printer connected to the AE that previously had worked.
I am now thinking of buying another printer since I cannot keep rebooting the AE and I am so sick of reading of the non-solutions to this problem.
Can you all please recommend to me which printers actually do work? I notice that Brother makes a model that works wirelessly irrespective of any wireless router. Do you have any bluetooth or other wireless suggestions? Or other printers which DO work connected to the Airport Express.
    Thanks in advance!

Mircaculously I was able to get my Samsung 1750 to print. I am so happy.
So the question is mute for me but perhaps others will find this thread of interest. However, noticing that so few people have responded (none thus far), I can only say that this seems to be a question that ought to be answered so that others buy printers that do not cause immense hair loss.
    Cheers.

  • Best modem/router for AEBS that actually works?!

    Hi,
I have had so many problems with my AEBS it's unbelievable! If someone could suggest a modem/router that works well with the AEBS so i can set up my wireless network that would be great! So far i have tried the netgear DM111P modem & the d-link 320T modem. Both do not seem to work, i can get onto the internet connecting directly to each of the modems but when i comes to connecting to the internet through the AEBS with the modem attached there is nothing. But i can connect one computer if the AEBS is in bridge mode, which is pointless as i need to share the connection. So any suggestions to help me or on a modem/router which will actually work, i would appreciate it a lot!
    Many thanks!

I’m accessing to this with iMac, Win (HP, IBM) laptops, iPhone… one of the best investments (beside iMac and iPhone.. )
I have a PC with an ASUS MB (see my profile), and have great respect for ASUS products. I was not even aware that they made routers.
    Thanks for the information.

  • How can I print to my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Printer from my iPhone 4S which used to work before AirPrint printers were even available? (running Mac Lion OS, all software and HP sw updates are all performed)

I don't get it, I read one post about why would we have to buy an AirPrint Printer when we have used the "print to a wifi printer" just fine in the past?  Yes I feel that's exactly what's happening to me now too. I want to print from my iPhone and iPad to my WiFi Printer which is also now connected to my Airport Express WiFi network just fine. No problems.

Very glad you added that bit of information because I see different problems similar to this.  I want to share with them what you did and hopefully you not only fixed your specific problem but you can lend some more advice to others with problems like this. Thanks!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.

I don't see any DDR3L on the page for the RAM that would fit your model -> http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM.
But the answer is that it doesn't really matter - just make certain to get 1333MHz.
    Good luck,

I have had a few , that worked in ubuntu, then didnt work, i have one that worked beautifullly in ubuntu, but only scans (it's an all in one) in arch.. is there a list of sacred printers that work? i tried installing gutenprint. how do you use it? i cant find it in the application list.. i try using the printer config at :631 on firefox, cant connect, cant connect at opera, or chromium, and i have no firewall running. so I cant configure a printer if one even did work, or do they work after you turn certain ones on?

This is, of course, your choice. In any case, Arch does not seem to be appropriate for your needs.

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion.  But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS.   It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

  • My macbook air keeps opening ad websites without my permission. I've removed all website data various times which hasn't worked. this is making it very difficult for me to browse. please help?

I'm scared i have a virus. safari keeps opening windows/tabs without my permission. these are normally ads. i have removed website data various times which hasn't worked.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How do I actually use a MacBook Air as a second computer

    Hi all,
I'm very tempted by the latest MacBook Airs. I'm considering getting one for on the road and around the house, while keeping my iMac as my 'main' computer. However, I'm wondering, how this would actually work and was wondering if someone could give me some pointers or ideas for strategies to follow. Specifically, I'm wondering about the following things.
    1. iPhoto: my main iPhoto library would be on my iMac. But if I was travelling, say, with only the MacBook Air and I wanted to transfer the photos from my camera to the MacBook Air and then delete the photos from my camera, once I returned home, how would I then transfer the photos (quickly and seamlessly if possible) to my iMac? Would I have to export them first to a shared drive, shared folder, or DropBox folder for example, and then import them onto my iMac's iPhoto library? Ideally, what I would want is some way to wireless sync (automatically) between my MacBook Air and iMac, a little like an iPhone sync.
    2. iTunes: if I wanted to load my MacBook Air up with some music or say videos which currently reside on my iMac, how would I do that? Again would it have to be a manual export somehow?
Maybe some of these issues will be resolved once iCloud arrives. Want I want if at all possible to avoid is manually connecting and disconnecting hard drives — I've had bad experiences with that in the past when used with portable devices (corrupted databases, lost files, etc.)
For mail / safari / calendars etc., I'm fine (I already have a mobile me account and it works perfectly making it easy to work on different computers). DropBox and Evernote handle the rest so my main question really revolves around media.
Any help, pointers or just links to places where this has already been discussed, greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    David

You are going to NEED  external hard drives regardless, period.
for data storage, data backups and HUGE media files, of pics / vids/ audio
There is no way around it,
As for the Air, I own or owned every Mac, its my favorite Apple product out of 6 Macs I currently own.

  • What printers DO work with OSX 10.5?

I have (or had) two printers, an older HP laserjet 1012 and a newer HP Deskjet F380 all in one. Both worked fine when I ran OS X 10.4, but are completely unreliable with Leopard. The F380 won't print at all anymore, and the 1012 will print SOMETIMES after I ignore the warning window that comes up with each attempt to print telling me that the printer has crashed.
Reading these forums, it looks like a lot of people are having problems with printers.
I'd like to go ahead and get a new printer, and am wondering which brands and models are actually working?

The HP F380 works with leopard but you may need updated drivers from:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-55820-2 &lc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=1128296&dlc=en
The HP laserjet 1012 is probably not compatible but I only say that because I haven't been able to find Leopard drivers for this model.
