Which process chain type used when scheduling from 3rd party

Do we use Local Process Chain or Meta Chain type used when triggering PC from 3rd Party scheduling tools like Redwood..

Hi Venkat,
Select "Start Using Meta Chain or API" for the start process when running a process chain from a third party scheduling software or when calling a process chain from within another process chain.
I also believe some third party scheduling software will also work if you set the start process to "Direct Scheduling" and set the start time to immediate but I would recommend just making it a Meta Chain for tracking purposes.

Duplicate transactions in GL Journals when imported from 3rd party

Hi All,
Normally everyday we receive data from 3rd party system will imported to GL via GL interface tables. A scheduled program 'Journal import' is being scheduled every night which was in error status since last 4 days.
So we have deleted certain transactions from the GL interface tables using delete command and imported the good ones into GL. Now when we see the amount is doubled.
Any ideas. Have we done anything wrong?

The journals that were imported are in Posted status. We have more journals than expected like almost doubled. what is the fix for this.

i have list of cubes i want to know that which cube is filled by which prcess chain ...
can anyone suggest me appropriate solution.
simply i want to know that when reconcilation which process chain affect on which bex report so that if one process chain got failed then i will not generate that specific report for that day..

Choose your infopackage which holds the data targets, in the Infopackage screen reach the Scheduler tab and you will find the where-Used list. This will let you know the particular process chain responsible.

There is no where used list for Process chain, but you can check it in table RSPCCHAIN.
Give details as below:
Version is 'A'.
Process Type is 'CHAIN'.
Process Variants = 'enter technical name of the local chain'.
now hit execute button.
You can see the list of process chains under Chain ID column.

We have 20 Process Chains in our project.In SM37, i have checked the Scheduled Jobs in SM37 and found "BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER" job is triggered. How can i find which process Chain is scheduled out 20 Process Chains.
Can i get the Process Chain Names from Tcode SM37.Or else, Do i need to check each process chain Start Time ?
Pls suggest.

Which scheduled job to which process chain on SM37

Hi all ,
I'm checking scheduled jobs on SM37 screen. I see many BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER jobs scheduled and realesed . But I don't know which process chain is the owner of these jobs. Does anyone knows how to check whic job belongs to which process chain ?

By using BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER job we can find the chain name..
Below is the procedure..
1.Double click on the job BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER
2.Then goto "STEP"
3. In "STEP"---goto 'GOTO' tab in the MENU....select "maiatain variants"
Then it will take to SE38 screen---Click the DISPLAY
It will give the Chain name and all the details.
If u have any doubts plz let me know...

Using API:
>When the selection options according to your requirement are not available, you should go for API and write code to suit your requirements.. .
Using MetaChain:
> You can also trigger the start of a process chain using a metachain
> If you start the start process using a metachain, it is not scheduled after you have activated the related process chain. The process chain is only started when the metachain, to which it is linked, is running.

And to find out which meta chain has been linked with this start process:
> Goto planning view of the chain
> Select start proces, right click to open context menu
> Click display all jobs
> In the list of jobs displayed, select one
> click step
> select the program/command displayed
> from menu select goto-> Variant
and there you may find the name of the metachain
(But in case if it is a program(API) which is triggering this chain, the varaint in step will show again this chain name only)

Process chain types are two.
1) direct chain : meanns single chain
2) meta chain: Process chains can be scheduled as processes in additional process chains, which are known as meta chains. If the process chain you want to execute is in another system, use the process type Process Chain Remote, called remote process chain in the following. A remote process chain is a local process in the calling system that calls a process chain in this system, using a destination in another system, that is to be executed there. The remote process chain communicates with the other system and synchronously starts the executed process chain. After terminating the process chain in another system, this is reported back to the meta chain in the calling system.

Process Chain Triggered automatically when transported to test system

We modified several process chain and transported the process chain to Test system.
Few Process chain triggered automatically as the varient was set to immediate in development system.
Now we want to move the process chain to production. Do we need
1. new transport request with the variant to future date and discard the transport request which created issues
2. New transport request with the variant to future date and transport the new along with the old transport to production system
3. Change the start date in Test system and transport the same request to production
Kindly advice me on the action to be taken.

Regarding 2: When the old transport is imported into production the start will be set to immediately and the process chain will execute. You should not use this option.
Regarding 3: Changing in Test system will not affect the content of the transport, it will still be the same as released from Dev.
We have avoided this annoying problem with process chains being executed when transports are imported by creating a "parent" process chain that simply triggers the process chain in question. This "parent" chain should not be transported. You then set the start option for the original process chain to "start by API/Event" then you can transport the original process chain whenever you want without any risk of the process chain being executed.

From this we can come to the conclusion that, whether to use one index or not by oracle
would also depend on the data which is present in the table. This has to be this way as
we see in the bind peeking, if oracle sticks to only one plan, say only use the full table
scan, it would be a performance hit when it searches for the second query ie where object_name
='emp';

If we have a query like below.
select * from emp
where upper(ename) = upper(:p_ename);
Evenif we have the index on ename column, oracle wouldn't be able to use the index, as there is a function in the predicate column. If you need oracle to use the index, we need to create a function based index as below.
Create index idx_ename on emp(upper(ename));

Is it possible to know which process that currently use which service? e.g. I have a customized Render service and want to know which process is currently use it. or is there a query to run in database to get that information.

In your customized RenderService, you would tipically have a taskContext variable.
The following XPATH, gives you the process which currently using the service.
/process_data/taskContext/object/@processName

If you open the infopackage there is an option at the top 'process chain maint.' Click this and it will give you the proces chain it belongs to.

Would it be possible for time machine to back-up files from 3rd party software such as windows platform using parallel?

I'm wondering if it would be possible for time machine to back-up files from 3rd party software such as Windows XP using parallel software especially if it is isolated from mac? Any advise would be greatly aprreciated.

Short answer - yes Time Machine will backup everything within the Mac OS system.
Longer answer - Parallels creates a pvm disk image "Parallels Virtual Machine" which Time Machine backs up.
Due to the changes to the pvm file Time Machine is unable to read the minor changes and will somtimes do a full backup of it each time Time Machine runs and can chew through Back up drive space quite quickly.

Raising a notification from 3rd party software

We have a client looking at raising notifications within the asset management system of SAP via a sql/.net software application. The 3rd party software has a defect register which could be used to open the SAP notification. We would like to populate the fields automatically when the notification is opened.
Is there a current feature within SAP to raise single or multiple notifications via a 3rd party application?

Hi russel,
Things are where they were.
Any Function Module(BAPI here) is the ABAP part. So the solution involves 3 parties. The BAPI suggested helps in creating a Notification by receiving parameters as Inputs. Where these parameters come from? These come from 3rd party software (you called so) through interface (XI here)
Flow is like this.
Interface (XI) - Receives parameters from your Browser (assumed you called it 3rd party) and translates into SAP field names and values.
ABAP - Receives these inputs, feeds to the BAPI the output of which is a Notification.
Note:
BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE is a Notification creation tool (Function module) in ABAP. This receives SAP field values as inputs and generates a Notification. It has got a wide range of applications in regular SAP developments.
