Which program to use to make a calendar?

I'm trying to use a program to make a calendar.  Just your everyday basic calendar that I can use on my laptop for events.  Not a fancy lets put dogs and snowfall on a calendar to hand in my kitchen.  I used to use Microsoft Word when I had an HP but I upgraded to a Macbook Pro.
I have Pages, Numbers and Keynote and I thought that I'd be able to find a calendar template somewhere but I can't find one.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Mac comes with an application called Calendar pre-installed.
It's icon is in the dock, detailed with white on red month and black on white day.
Best.

  • What program was used to make this video?  Is it After Effects?

I thought that this clip was funny: http://www.clipaday.com/videos/mccain-drums.
I want to make something similar for my brother, but I have no idea which program was used to make this.
I have the full Adobe CS3 Suite on my computer, including After Effects. I use Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator regularly for my job.
I want to try to monkey around with the video software at an amateur level. But before I buy any tutorials, I need to know what program to buy the tutorial for!!
    Thanks for any responses.

While the clip may not necessarily have been done in AE, you can achieve
these results. Careful masking along with good keyframing of the
movement properties will do it. There are other ways, but while this
might not be the fastest, would be the simplest and would provide a good
learning experience for someone starting out.

  • What's a good program to use to make flyers and handouts with?

What's a good program to use to make flyers and handouts with? I'm not a wiz with computers so nothing too sophisticated is needed. Thanks!

Pages would be fine but there are hundreds, I'd recommend using the Mac App Store.

  • How can I inform which program to use to open a Docx when it doesn't show in my dropdown list in attachments?

When I attempt to open a Docx type file Thunderbird is attempting to open the document with an old version of Office (2003). I have upgraded to (2013). I have followed the suggestions of going to Tools, Options and Attachments to assign which program should be used to open which type of item. Microsoft isn't even in the list at all. How do I fix this?

In Tools > Options > Attachments > incoming tab
delete the action for docx documents - located in the Action drop down selection.
It will remove it from the list.
    * Then select email with docx attachment.
    * Right click on attachment and select 'Open'
It will ask what to do
    * Select 'Open With'
If TB does not select as default: MicroSoft Office Word
    * click on drop down and select 'Other'
If MicroSoft Office Word is still not available:
    * click on 'Browse' to locate the WINWORD.EXE file
If running Windows OS 32bit then it will be in this location :
    * C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\WINWORD.EXE
If running Windows OS 64bit then it will be in this location :
    * C:\Program Files(86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\WINWORD.EXE
    * Then click on click on 'Open'
    * select: 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on' click on OK"

  • I have an IMac intel  OS x 10.8.2, I would like to know what is the best program to use to make movies and burn them to a DVD???

What is the best program to use that will be compatable with a IMac intel OS x 10.8.2, that will allow me to make movies, add music then burn it to a DVD.  The program I have now, will make the movie but will not burn it???

    You want iDVD.
Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.

  • What is the best program to use to make Technical Manuals?

I am trying to create a technical manual using ibooks author.  I am require the manual to have certain sections.
    1. a table of contents that auto adjusts to the titles
    2. a list of Effective Pages with page numbers and revision numbers
    3. a record of revisions
    4. content.
Does anyone know if this is possible with ibooks author or with any other program available for MAC?

    Feldafing wrote:
Thanks for the tip. So I cannot use ibook author if I want this feature ? Which program would you suggest to write an app for a picture book ?
Again, iBA doesn't provide change controls for revision tracking - that would be up to you to manage manually. Did you look at Doxygen yet?
Checked the Mac App Store and the Creating ePubs forum yet?

  • Anyway to monitor which program is using the hard drive?

I recently noticed that my hard drive keeps running.
I knew that I can use some tool to monitor which program (process) is using CPU resources.
Is there any tool to monitor which program is reading/writing hard drive all the time?
    thanks

atop, but it needs kernel patches to monitor disk activity per-process.

  • My First DVD - Which program to use?

    Hi, folks.
I have never used Apple's video editing softwares because I didn't have a Mac with Superdrive. Since I have one now, I'd like to have some fun with it. So, I decided to start playing with my wedding DVD.
The company which shot my party was very good on shootage but horrible on editing. The movie doesn't have chapters, subtitles, credits or even a good menu. So, I'd like to re-edit it adding nice pictures, menus, etc., etc..
    My first question is:
Which software to use? iDVD or iMovie? I took a look at iDVD and it has terrific templates I'd love to see on my DVD, but, is iMovie any better?
    Second:
How can I extract the movie from my source DVD? I checked it and found the following files inside:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP - 12k
    VIDEO_TS.IFO - 12k
    VIDEO_TS.VOB - 34k
    VTS010.BUP - 56k
    VTS010.IFO - 56k
    VTS011.VOB - 1GB
    VTS012.VOB - 1GB
    VTS013.VOB - 443MB
And I have no idea what to do with them.
Do I have to use any software to extract the video from the DVD or just copying those files to HD is enough?
I would really appreciate any kind of help.
    Cheers.
    JP

Just one thing: keep in mind that it is standard practice that wedding photographers and videographers retain the copyright to the video and photos they shoot. They will generally offer to provide you with copyrights to the video and photos for a fee -- if you didn't enter into such a negotiation before, you should contact the original photographer/videographer to obtain those rights and avoid possible legal problems later. It's also common practice that, if you purchase those rights, you will receive the original tapes and photo negatives / digital images as part of the deal.
That said, if you want to re-edit the content from the DVD, you need a tool like Handbrake to convert if from MPEG-2 format (the DVD) to DV (digital video) for editing in iMovie. iDVD is for rencoding the edited DV content back into MPEG-2 for DVD and preparing DVD menus.
The most recent version of iMovie (iMovie 8) left out support for DVD chapters, so if you want to use them, you need to use iMovie HD (6).
One important point is that the MPEG-2 to DV conversion is pretty much lossless (the video quality is the same coming out as going in). However, in re-encoding back to MPEG2 in iDVD, the quality will noticably degrade. This is unfortunate, because the video on the DVD is already substantially degraded from the source material (on DV tapes). Like I had mentioned before, if you've gotten rights to the video, you probably have access to the original tapes -- in which case you want to borrow a DV camcorder to transfer the video from the original tapes and work with the first-generation DV rather than the content on the DVD.

  • Creating a table of contents in a PDF - which program to use?

I have created many pdf-files from multiple sources and would like to include a table of contents to each of them. Not the side-bar bookmarked table of contents but a traditional one which prints with the document (as you can easily create in Word or Pages).
As I have to create a table of contents for 60 different pdf-files, it would take ages to do this by hand (what I would do is create a empty word document with the chapters in the right pages and create a table of contents. I can then make a PDF of the table of contents and insert that page into my PDF-file, but it's a lot of work!)
I have Adobe Acrobat X, but it doesn't seem to be possible with it. Searching the internet, I found some Windows programs which might do the trick, but I only have Apple computers. Does anyone know a program which can do this on an Apple?
    Thanks,
    Emile

Can Adobe automatically create a table of contents for a document and if
    so how is that generated?
Adobe will not create table of contents for you.

  • Which programming is used in SAP HANA? confused b/w ABAp or java?

Can anyone just tell me As a programmer in which language i have to work on SAp HANA

    Hi Jagaa,
that really depends on what you'd like to do. But a brief answer:
    a) If you develop ABAP applications - use ABAP (as for other databases) and Open SQL / CDS, and if additional HANA functionality is needed maybe a bit of native SQL (ADBC or ABAP Managed DB Procedures).
    b) If you develop natively on the database please contact the experts on SAP HANA Developer Center.

  • Which program to buy and use?

I am trying to debate which program to use. I am trying to choose among Final Cut Express, Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and the new iMovie 11.
I am use to Aperture for my stills and some have told me then it is best to go with the Final Cut Express. Others said keep it simple.
Last time I did home video editing it was with Pinnacle on the WinTel.
So, what do I need to do? I have some already edited Home VHS tapes I need to move to digital before it is too late. I have a Sony 8 mm Digital camcorder with firewire 400. I need to transfer these and 8mm analog tapes to a non-tape format. I can use the camcorder to input the info into my MacBook Pro using a 1 tb firewire 800 scrap drive.
Next, I would like to edit and then create DVDs for about 12 years of videos.
How many tapes to do? About fifteen Of various formats.
I figure the learning curve will be the hardest with FCE, then Elements and finally iMovie 11. I was told in the FCE forum that iMovie do not handle DV video very well.
Any suggestions would be helpful. The plan is to buy the software soon and play with it and at Christmas holiday I will start the long process.
    Thank you in advance!
    Summary:
MBP 2008 (late) mac OS 4 GB RAM 800 firewire port which I will connect to a LaCie 1 TB rugged HDD. I am planning storing the working and finished files before burning. Scratch Disc (formatted to Mac OS Extended). I need to go digital with my home movies. I have VHS tapes (already edited), Sony 8 mm analogue and digital tapes (need to edit). I want to do editing & DVD burning.

I have some already edited Home VHS tapes I need to move to digital before it is too late.
I have used all 3 programs that you mentioned (and others).
iMovie 11 is a wonderful program assuming that you're using it for what it was designed to do, assemble simple videos to share on the Internet.
I was told in the FCE forum that iMovie do not handle DV video very well.
Not true for iMovie 02 through iMovie 06.
There is a significant regresssion in quality of the image between iMovie 06 and iMovie 08 through 11.
The difference is the single field processing used by iMovie 11 (for faster editing) and the fact that it throws out every other horizontal line.
Final Cut Express and Adobe Premiere Elements 9 will give full quality but are more complicated to use.
In my opinion iMovie 06 with iDVD 09 or iDVD 11 is way to go.
Your workflow is editing DV clips and making DVDs, iMovie '06 is better suited. Your movie will arrive at iDVD in DV format, which is an ideal match for making a DVD: same resolution, same pixels aspect ratio, and original quality.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11 is a 100% "lossless" combination and my DVD's look like they came from Hollywood!
You will also need a A/D coverter. (Like the Grassvalley ADVC300)
I've played around with countless other conversion systems, ranging in price from $79 to $399. Short verison, this is the ONLY unit to own. No dropped frames at all, even with questionable quality tapes, no jitter, great color, excellent sound quality. Zero setup with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11.
This is a prosumer deck. The time code function is alone worth the price if you have old analog footage. Absolutely NO "Out Of Sync" audio.
ADVC300 is for anyone who wants to do editing and is concerned about quality of color and speed, for the novice it is an incredible gizmo that will restore VHS tapes to a state close to the original fixing midtones, highlights and shadows on the fly. Not only can you simply convert analog to digital you can actually manipulate the signal going in (if you want to).
A bit pricey but it WORKS.
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material.
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11. VERY easy and 100% "lossless"

  • What program to use

I'm wanting to burn some mp3s to a dvd but I'm have no clue which program to use. I just want to make a simple data disc and a few files are NOT mp3s so do I use itunes or idvd or is there another program to use? I've only be a mac owner for about 3 weeks now so I'm still trying to familiarize myself with these unfamiliar programs. Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
Your Leopard will do that for you...
    1. Select your desktop (Finder should appear near top-left)
    2. Goto File>New Burn Folder - A new folder will appear on the desktop, if you don't change its name it will be called 'Burn Folder'
    3. Drag required files to this folder
    4. Open 'Burn Folder', near top right of view should be the words 'Burn'
    5. Blank disc in, hit burn
Alternatively you could try SimplyBurns from http://simplyburns.berlios.de/
In addition to all that you'll find loads of free Mac software at http://www.coolosxapps.net/ to get you started.
    Hope this helps

  • Bridge vs Lightroom - Which do you use?

I just subscribed to Creative Cloud am am learning how to use both Bridge and Lightroom. I've been using Apple's Aperture program to organize images, but I want to see how Lightroom stacks up and perhaps switch.
I have so many things to figure out, it's going to take a while. But one question I'd like to as on this forum is whether you, as a web designer, use Bridge or Lightroom to organize your images.
I'm currently using Aperture to organize sort of a base library of images that haven't been processed for a website. If I select one of these images (from Aperture or Lightroom), open it in Photoshop and save it for the web - as Animal.jpg, for example - then I figured I'd use Bridge to organize Animal.jpg.
But someone on the Lightroom forum told me that would be confusing; I should use one program or the other.
So I just wondered which program you use. I haven't yet figured out exactly how they overlap and what the pros and cons of each program are.
    Thanks.

I use Bridge for previewing quite a bit with Photoshop.
Use whatever works best for YOU.
