Which programs are bloatware on H500S?

I just purchased a Lenovo H500s desktop pc for basic use.  Many believe It has a lot of bloatware installed by Lenovo.  Should I uninstall or delete these programs?  I can uninstall them in control panel, but I can't figure out how to disable them.  Some recommended going into Tools then Startup in Ccleaner and disabling the programs there, but none of these programs are listed there.  I have the latest version of Ccleaner installed.  Disabling then seeing if the disabling limited the computer's use in any way is safer than uninstalling.
This is the list of what many consider bloatware installed on my H500s:
a. Baidu PC App Store
b. CyberLink MediaStory
c. CyberLink PhotoDirector
d. CyberLink PowerDirector
e. Lenovo Assistant
f. Lenovo Black Silk USB Keyboard Driver
g. Lenovo Browser Guard
h. Lenovo Photos
i. Lenovo Power2Go
j. Lenovo PowerDVD 10
k. Lenovo Reach
l. Lenovo Rescue
m. Lenovo SoftAp
n. Lenovo Web Start
o. LVT (Lenovo Vantage Technology)
p. Maxthon Cloud Browser
q. McAfee LiveSafe (trial)
r. Nitro PDF Reader
My computer is running very slowly and the hd seems to run constantly.  Some of these programs may be slowing down my computer.
Thanks for any replies.

hi Jay777,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the list of softwares that you listed, I recommend you keep the following:
1. Lenovo Black Silk USB Keyboard Driver
   - if the machne came with a wireless keyboard and mouse, this is the driver that keeps these devices functioning properly
2. Lenovo Power2Go
   - CD/DVD burning software. Keep this if you burn files to discs frequently
3. Lenovo PowerDVD 10
   - Software for playing DVD discs
4. Lenovo Rescue / OneKey Recovery
   - System Recovery software. Keep this to trigger factory recovery and create backups.
5. LVT (Lenovo Vantage Technology)
   - System utility to check system health (eg. software updates, hardware status, etc.)
In addition, try the following to speed things up:
- Set the power settings to High Performance
- Perform a clean boot and enable important startup items only (eg. Security Softwares (antivirus, firewall, etc.)).
Regards

  • Which programs are open?

I like to quit applications I am not using to speed up the macbook. In Leopard how do you know which programs are open so I can quit them? there are no arrows pointing to the programs that are open.

Look closely on the refletion of the icon and you will see a little light blue color, that informs you that's it is open.

  • It means that subscription "Illustrator, Photosho and more ..." contains. Can you send me a list of which programs are included exactly in the subscription?

    Hello dear Creative Cloud Team,
I have a question for the student version for 19.34 euros per month.
It means that subscription "Illustrator, Photosho and more ..." contains.
What does 'many more'? If, for example, Adobe Indesign contain? Can you send me a list of which programs are included exactly in the subscription?
    Thanks in advance

  • Possible to tell which programs are accessing the internet?  Bandwidth?

I seem to have intermittent, severely limited access to the internet at times.
Is it possible to tell if a particular program running in the background is either downloading or scanning or "online" in some manner...?
Is it possible on a Mac to see how much bandwidth, memory, cpu cycles, etc. particular programs are taking...in a window similar to that which opens on a PC after pressing CTRLALTDEL ?
    thank you

Check out Activity Monitor in your Applications/Accessories folder.

  • Is there an equivalent in Lion to the PC configuration system where you can choose which programs are startups , delayed or manual

Help, I want to be able to choose which programs I wan tot run at start up because after 6 months of usage it takes about 2plus minutes for a cold system to start up and 5 seconds to shut down. I wan tot speed up the startup and I think I have to many programs runnning at startup. On my PC I used to control that from sys config,is there an equivalent in Lion.

Go to System Preferences/System/Users & Groups. Click on Login Items and add or delete the apps as you choose.

  • How to see which programs are attached to which desktop?

I have used the option to attache software programs to different desktops in Mountain Lion.  When I hava not used a specific program in a while and then need to, I cannot always remember which desktop I anchored it to.  I know I can go to the launch and click on it there, but having it attached to a desktop, it seems like I should be able to find it that way.  Is there a way to quickly see which one it is attached to without opening the app from the app launchpad or opening the app folder?  I want to be able to just click to the desktop.  In Tiger I think, we could click on spaces in the menu bar and see a list.  Just wondering if there is a quick way in Mountain lion that I'm not aware of.
    thanks!

Hi, thanks for your reply, I am using mission control right now, I was just hoping there was a way that is similar to spaces in the toolbar.. and I'm guessing some of it is habit with how we think about it.
I realize why I was wondering this today.  I had mail open and then I opened imessage and it opened on top of mail, which told me I did not have it anchored to any specific desktop.  So I was trying to decide which one to attach it to and realized I did not know how to tell which ones already had something anchored to it.  If they are open, I could see by mission control.  But I did not want to open everything to see where it was anchored.  I rememberd being able to click on spaces in tiger and I could see the list.  So I hoped ML would have some place to see the same info.

  • Determine which programs are currently running on OS

    Hi,
Is there any way in java so that I can determine whether a particular program is currently running on the OS, or not?
    Thanks,
    Vimal

Using the NT resource kit there is a command called 'pulist'.
It provides less detail that 'ps' on unix.
There is also a unix toolset available at
    http://virtunix.itribe.net/mystuff.html
    It provides a 'ps' command.

  • How do you know what programs are running?

Is there any way to tell from the Dock which programs are running? In Tiger there use to be a little black arrow underneath the app. What's changed in Leopard?

The default Leopard Dock indicators are a bit difficult to see with the light background and 3D glass effect. If you would like to have a different look then go to http://www.leoparddocks.com/ I'm using the "Revamped" design.

  • Which Program for Animation?

Hi, I was looking into buying CC (19.99/month plan) for animating.  The little problem I ran into is which program should I choose in the drop down menu to animate?  When people make flash animations which program are they running?  Sorry if it sounds like a simple question I am just confused.  (I want to make 2D animations not 3D).  Thanks.

  • Several programs are running at Startup

Hi Everyone, I truly need your assistance as I am a novice to the internal workings (system Admin) of the computer (Windows 7). My computer is performing terribly and when I check the "troubleshoot" system it tells me that "SEVERAL PROGRAMS
ARE RUNNING AT STARTUP". I know this a simple "fix" if you know what you are doing but I don't.  Please help me....someone.
How do you know which programs are the ones needed at STARTUP?.
    Newcomer Bev

    It the Resume feature.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
Also, you can hold the shift key to disable resume on a one time basis.
If you want to turn it off on a per app basis, (TextEdit is by example, replace TextEdit with the name of the app)
Launch Terminal and copy/paste this at the prompt...
defaults write com.apple.TextEdit NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool false
    Press return.
You can also accomplish this through the GUI by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State/TextEdit and delete that file…
(note that the User Library is hidden - one way to get there is to go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library")
    To turn off Resume globally...
    chflags uchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
    Press return
The reverse of the first one is to replace false with true.
The reverse of the second one is
    chflags nouchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
Again, you can accomplish this through Finder by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State and deleting the folder.

  • How can i see which items are taking up the most disk space

I have a Titanium PowerBook G4 with a 20GB hard drive. I'm currently using 15GB. I have tried searching through my hard drive to see which programs are taking up the most space. When I add up the totals of the various folders, etc., it's not 15GB worth. I feel like some items must be nested somehow, making them difficult to find. Is there some way to search your computer by size of items? I know that opening the hard drive and clicking on the size tab will sort things according to size. However, the folders don't show their size unless you click on them individually. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

While viewing a Finder window go to View>Show View Options, put a check in the box for 'Calculate All Sizes'. This is a setting you don't normally want to have turned on as it slows down the refresh when you switch windows, so you might want to remove the check once you identify the disk hogs.
BTW- You can free up a lot of disk space & RAM if you remove any fonts that you & the OS don't really need. You may also have a great deal of space taken up by unnecessary printer drivers, not to mention the plethora of ReadMes & other 'goodies' that get added when you install software.

    A question for the professionals:
