Which Project Photos are in Albums

I'm new to Aperture. I have many photos in a single project, and I have many albums in the project. When I look at my photos in the project, how do I tell which (if any) album they have been placed in?
I'm trying to make sure all photos in a project have been placed in an album, or albums.

I know only two way.
The first is that you can use keywords, if you set one keywords for each album, then you can know where a photo is located.
The second is to use a particular software: Aperture Assistant. You can run a trial version: http://aperture-assistant.com/

  • Can you show at a glance which event images are in albums?

    Say I had an event containing multiple similar but different images, is there a way to show in the grid view for example which images have already been used in one or more albums?
    Would be handy to be able to select a 'show list of albums containing this image'dialogue box. I guess you could hide images you've used but that wouldn't work automatically, nor would any other tagging/rating.
    Another approach would be to make albums containing everything in a given event, then move the images out of that album once used, just seems fiddly to me.

    Yes it would and many people have suggested tit. Add your voice to the chorus at iPhoto Menu -> Provide Apple Feedback.
    A workaround - and it's no better - is to go to an album and select al, then give all those pics a keyword. Then in grid view you can see which pics have the keyword. (View -> Keywords)

  • Thumbnails unavailable but photos are in album

    The folder that contains the thumbnail views, used for uploading and selecting, is empty for certain dates only. The photos all DO appear when looking in iPhoto itself. How do I get the thumbnails back so I can upload these photos?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • I don't know where my photostreamed photos are saved on my PC

    I see it in my iCloud photostream, but don't see the pc folder where it uploaded (if it did).  Didn't see in the iCloud folder where to direct the photos to go.

    Hello andersda,
    The location of your Photo Stream photos can be determined by opening the iCloud for Windows, then clicking Options next to Photos, then clicking Change to view the path to which your photos are downloaded.
    Open iCloud for Windows, then turn on Photos.
    My Photo Stream is set up by default. To turn it off, click Options, then turn off My Photo Stream.
    To change the iCloud Photos location on your computer, click Options. Click Change to choose a folder, then click OK.

  • Some of my earliest photos are not showing on my phone after updating to iOS7. They can be seen in the app "over" which allows for art and lettering to be placed on a photo but I can not find an album for photos before 2012.

    Some of my earliest photos are not showing on my phone5 after updating to iOS7. They can be seen in the app "over" which allows for art and lettering to be placed on a photo but I cannot find an album or year for photos before 2012 (in the photo app). The iphone says the photo content is there when I check in "about" under general in settings. So the pictures seem to be somewhere but I just can't access from from the photo app. Any suggestions. I also know that they were there before the iOS7 upgrade as I was looking for a pre 2012 picture last week and it we there.

    I have many photos in the library folder of iPhoto, but actually I don't know which photos were used in my album.
    Is there any method to find this?
    Thanks.

    Album or Book?
    If Album you can find the ones not already used:

  • HT201060 Is there a way to be selective about which photos are automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing photo album?

    Family Sharing is set up, and "My Photo Stream" and "iCloud Photo Sharing" features are enabled on all devices.  However, I would like to limit which photos are shared in the Family Sharing photo album.  Here are two scenarios:
    I'm shopping for a gift for my daughter at the store, and I see the item I think she'll like.  In Messages I want to snap a photo to send to my wife to get her buy-in (authorization), but when I do this, the photo is also automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing album, and my daughter can see it on her iPod Touch until I delete it from iCloud.
    On her iPod Touch, my daughter browses images of kittens and cats, cats and kittens (she's 10), and saves many of them to her camera roll to view later.  In turn, our Family Sharing photo album is full of random pictures of kittens.
    Perhaps all I need to do is turn off "My Photo Stream", to prevent all photos being uploaded to all devices automatically?  And in the event I want to share a photo or an event/moment, I can create a Photo Stream on the spot...?

    Probably the best solution is to put your daughter on her own iCloud ID (but under your name since she's under-aged).  She can continue to use your ID for iTunes store purchases. If you set her up with a separate iCloud ID, then her photo activity and yours will remain separate.
    The Family Sharing feature may not be relevant or helpful in this scenario -- as I understand it, Family Sharing is for the sharing of purchases, not iCloud, and only in situations when family members have separate IDs for purchases but want to also share the purchases from a "central ID" (e.g. Parent's ID)

  • In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

    Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album.  Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay.  This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which  I deleted again.  if  I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

    Quick Update:
    I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it.  As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone.  I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
    Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to  a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.  On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014.  As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either.  I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available).  So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
    In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did.  I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory.  Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
    Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
    P.S.  I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.   There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:
    No pictures are shown in Message om Mac
    This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug.  I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.

  • I am trying to import photos into PSE 12 from folders on my desktop, which are organized by broad topics--family, vacations, etc..  Many of my photos are located in several folders.  When I try to import them to PSE I get a message saying some photos were

    I am new to PSE 12 and am trying to import my photos from folders on my desktop which I have organized by the categories I had in my previous program (Creative Memories).  Many of my photos are located in multiple folders, i.e. one photo could be in "Family," Vacations" and "Birthdays."  When I try to import the contents of each folder on my desktop I am often getting the message that many of my photos were not imported as they are already in my catalog.  Is there a way that I can import any one photo multiple times so that it ends up in all the folders I want it to be in?  I know I can locate the photo in PSE and copy it to a different folder(s), but there are so many not being imported that this would be a huge task!

    By design, the organizer (and any other database management systems) is there to prevent you from duplicating your media files. The catalog management allows you to have the same image in different categories or albums. Duplication in different folders is to be absolutely avoided.
    The same image file can have multiple tags like 'family', 'vacations', 'birthdays' and be present in three different albums with the same names. On obvious advantage is less disk space. Another one with your present folder system is that if you edit one of your duplicates, the other ones are unchanged.
    I don't see an easy way to make your present folder structure simplified for the organizer ...

  • Is there any reason photos in an album page display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    Is there any reason photos in an album page created in iweb display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    there are three displays in photos page:
    1) thumbnails grid - smallest
    2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
    3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
    3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
    it's difficult to know which you refer to.
    if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
    instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:
    #slideshow {
    position: relative;
    width: 320px; /* this is default width */
    height: 360px; /* this is default height */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    overflow: hidden;

    Since I get Adobe revel my photos in "Mobile albums" on my iMac disappeared. "Mobile albums" are accessible on mobile devices only. How to get back mobile albums on my iMac?

    Which version of PSE? For PSE 12 you should be able to just log into revel in PSE and have them appear. If you were using an older version of PSE, there's a free mac app in the app store.

  • How to determine which pictures are in albums?

    With 7000 pictures over 10 years, I decided to group some into albums. This I did. I then came back the next day to continue my task and learned that photos are not "moved" into albums but all 7000 remain in the library. Trouble is I do not know which photos have already been put into albums. When looking at the library is there a way to know which photos belong to an album? Is there an app for that?

    Smart albums can only tell which photos are not in an album.
    Why isn't there a label under the photo library that indicates that a certain photo is part of the this face, this album and that event?

  • When I connect an iPad to a Mac, which photos are available for import?

    I seem to have created an ever-growing, self-multiplying population of photos shared between my Mac, my iPad, my iPhone, and iCloud!
    I'm trying to clear everything up and start from scratch, but one thing in particular is bothering me. I connect my iPad with a USB cable to my Mac, open iPhoto on the Mac, and look at the iPad under Devices. It is showing me that there are 1331 photos, of which 724 have yet to be imported. Yet the vast majority of these photos are actually already in iPhoto on the Mac.
    What I'd like to know — and I'm finding impossible to work out — is: exactly what photos on the iPad am I seeing? Obviously not just the photos in the Camera Roll, which if I look on the iPad contains 284. Does it include the contents of "All Imported" that shows up under Albums on the iPad, and contains 1046 photos? This gives the correct total number that is showing in iPhoto (well it comes to 1330 instead of 1331). But I can see some pics in iPhoto, in the iPad device window, that do not seem to be in the Camera Roll or All Imported on the iPad itself.
    It's all very confusing, and I can find no documentation about this question. Anyone any ideas?

    There is not much documentation on this.
    The iPad User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1595/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf) states, that the photos you imported from a camera to your iPad can be imported from the iPad by connecting it via USB to your computer. iPhoto or Adobe Elements can import them.
    Does it include the contents of "All Imported" that shows up under Albums on the iPad, and contains 1046 photos?
    So yes, the "All imported " events will be included.
    But I can see some pics in iPhoto, in the iPad device window, that do not seem to be in the Camera Roll or All Imported on the iPad itself.
    Have you photos hidden on your iPad (in iPhoto)?

  • Where are photos in my album?

    Hi,
    Photos are not viewable in Album folder but they were in there just five minutes ago.  This happend many times to me.  I am using Aperture 3.  There were pictures in the album but for whatever reason, they were not showing when I clicked on the album, just blank page.  They are still in the main project folder whic I could view. I selected and dragged them back to the Album but they were not showing.  I really hate this software, iPhoto is much mor userfriendly.
    Secondly,  how do I view photo information like: aperture, lens, camera etc..? I remember they used to show at the bottom right corner.

    What type of album, regular or smart?
    If smart then make sure the criterion for selecting for the album is still valid.
    In both cases make sure you do not have a filter set that would prevent the images from being displayed (say filtering for 5 star images in an album that has none will result in no images being displayed)
    To display metadata under an image go to the View->Metadata display menu. You can select the display of metadata here.
