Which PSU is best to buy for Early 2005 dual 2.0 G5

following on from this topic-

I'm looking to purchase a replacement PSU but what I want to know is do I have to get a 450w one or will any of the others work in my machine ?
Thanks

Ok the replacement PSU arrived today, fitted it an hour or so ago. Mac booted first time and I checked systems profiler to check everything else was re-installed fine, no problems there. Shut her down and tried the power button and she booted straight up, thought I was on to a winner.
Just to be safe I shut her down after spotlight had done it's thing and went to boot the Mac again and this time nothing happens same as my previous problem located here -
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2370706&tstart=0
I've reset the PMU (although my systems date didn't change when I managed to get the Mac to boot!?) Left it unplugged for 30 mins or so but I'm still having the same problem, can't be another dodgy PSU can it ?
It doesn't seem as bad as my last one, seems a bit easier to get the Mac to boot, my old one took 2 days of being off to boot. Also when I unpacked the replacement this afternoon I opened it up to make sure there were no signs over over heating and the board looked perfectly fine.
I'm lost now!
Any ideas ?

Hello everyone.I just wanted to know that do i need an anti virus for my macbook pro and if yes then which is the best anti-virus for it and i can download the anti-virus software from which site? Thanks for everyones help for my previous question..it really helped me.

There's no know virus that can impact a Mac, but if you run Windows via Parallels or Boot Camp then you're just as vulbnerable as any PC user.
If you want to scan your system to be sure check out the free utilities ClamXav and Sophos Anti Virus

  • Tech Specs for Early 2005 G5?

Anyone know where I can find the tech specs for early 2005 G5s. (2.7 GHz specifically) This revision is curiously missing from Apple's tech spec page. It goes from late 2004 to late 2005.
Also, does anyone know what optical drive(s) shipped in the 2.7?

  • Which is the best WLAN card for my lenovo x200 notebook?

    Hello!
I hope somebody could help for me. I bought a new Lenovo X200 notebook but it hasn't got WLAN card. So I have to buy a mini PCI-E WLAN card. In my notebook there is a webcam so I find only 2 wlan cable (1 black and 1 grey). The question is: witch is the best WLAN card for me?
    Intel 5100
    Intel 5300
    or
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter
    Please help me.
I can use intel 5300 (it has 3 connection port) if I have only 2 cable?

On the Lenovo X200 support page you will find the X200 Hardware Maintenance Manual which lists all the parts in the X200.
You will find there that the 43Y6493 is Lenovo's Intel 5100.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

I'm not sure what settings you are referring to. If you mean the import CD settings, there would be no point in changing them after importing the CD, would there?
As for the best setting for audio quality, it's down to your preference. Many people will not hear the difference bewteen one setting and another. The best thing to do is import the same song several times using different import setttings (and change the song title so you know which one is which) and then listen to them on your iPod. Then decide.
Unless you have specific reasons for using the WAV setting, don't use it. It will use up a lot of space on your iPod and you cannot tag WAV files in the same way as the other formats.

  • I have to create a presentation about waste water management. The students needs to see how the water flows in the system. Which is the best Adobe program for this task?

I need to show dirty water, the treatment, and the clean water after treatment. It is necessary to see how the water flows in the tubes.
Which is the best Adobe program fr this job?

After Effects, but be ready for a steep learning curve. Third party plug-ins may be required if you want realistic flow. Schematic diagrams are fairly easy to create with After Effects. I do it all the time.

    Hi Greg,
Best protection is a really secure WPA2 Passwoird to join your Router... WEP or Open is worthless, WPA can be broken, but WPA 2 is still likely not to be broken fo awhile.

  • Which version of Windows to Buy for fresh install?

I have a simple question that after 3 days of searching am still unable to answer. I apologize if this has been asked and answered many times before but have searched the communities and not found anything recent.
    My question is this:
I have a MacBook Pro with an optical drive (mid 2010) that has never had Windows on it. I am running Mavericks and would like to use Bootcamp and install a brand new version of Windows 8.1.
What Microsoft product do I need to buy to accomplish this? It is my understanding that I need the DVD and cannot just download a full, clean install of this version of Windows but the choices are ridiculously complicated and confusing. Half of them say "this version for Windows 7 users, blah blah...". All I want to do is take a Mac that has no previous verison of Windows of any kind and have it up and running 8.1, you would think this would be simple but I have found it ridiculously difficult to find the answer, including asking those brainiacs at Microsoft help, which was about as useful as sharp stick in the eye. Obviously this is why I have a Mac in the first place, unfortunately need Windows to run some software that will not work on OSX.
Will the Windows 8.1 Pro DVD give me a brand new, complete install of Windows on my Mac via bootcamp?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frustrated

I did buy the Windows 8.1 System Builder, which also is known as "Full Version".
After downloading and installing a 14 day trial of "Parallels", the Windows 8.1 Full Version disk seemed to install perfectly well.  I installed the one windows program I needed to run.
It does seem glitchy sometimes, and processing is often slow, having to wait for it to process.  I have 4GB of memory and may try to increase it to 6GB or 8GB.
I also don't like screwing with the iMac and with sales this weekend a perfectly functioning new Toshiba laptop can be had for $299 at Best Buy, including 6GB RAM and a fully loaded DVD/CD drive.  I am seriously considering buying that just to run my one Windows program that I must run, and try to remove all vestiges of Parallels and Windows from my iMac.  It seems just as cost effective, even moreso as it keeps them segregated, and doesn't add on third party systems to the iMac.

  • Which macbook pro should i buy for architecture/interior design?

My question is about the 13" or the 15" pro. My wife is starting out in architecture/interior design and she already knows she'll be using photoshop cs3, Rhino and auto cad. Her concern is the weight of the unit and the price and is therefore leaning towards the 13". But I've been pushing her to the high end 15" because of the better video card and processor.
All said and done is the extra $1000 worth it, considering she'll be using it for the next 4 years? She is the careful one with the money, so I need a better way to rationalize the extra $1000 for the 15" than just saying that its "better". As far as she's concerned, I'm just buying into the apple occult over the best shiny new thing!
Another question concerns whether, if she can make it through first term without a computer, we should wait until the next refresh. My friend told me that macbook pros might become like the mac airs. If that's the case it'd really solve our weight problems.
    Thanks!

The AIR is the way it is because it's stripped down and has lousy integrated graphics where the CPU handles it, thus they overheat. A Windows PC laptop would be the same and a lot leas expensive (although not as thin), dragging the external optical drive around is a real pain too.
Your correct about the 15" for the software she needs to run, namely Photoshop and AutoCad, and likely VMFusion and Windows too.
I would get the 2.2 Ghz 15" MacBook Pro and the anti-glare high resolution screen, the glare of the glossy screens makes it unsuitable for most professional uses.
Don't go by my word 100%, just read the posts from professionals here
    https://macmatte.wordpress.com/
and the general computing public here.
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/05/23/glossy-vs-matte-screens-why-the-pc-indus trys-out-of-touch/
The 15" and 17" MBP are the only anti-glare screen computers Apple still makes, so grab a powerful 2.2 Ghz while they still sell them and make it last as long as possible
That would make the lowest annaul cost of ownership possible, as the software wouldn't need to be replaced as soon, the softwares combined is likely to cost more than the machine.
The AIR is nice, if she used it as a consumer computer, but she's got "Pro" intentions and the AIR, the 13" and the 2.0 Ghz 15" doesn't cut it, especially in the graphics/3D rendering which AutoCAD is sorely needed a strong video card to render fast.
Some get a/iPad for light portable uses and the MaBook Pro for the heavy lifting, that could be a option for a extra $500,
    Good Luck.

I am looking for a new laptop to replace my dead beloved desktop L

After a long research the choice was narrowed to the options mentioned bellow. Which one do you recommend ? Is there any other option in the same price range that I did not consider?
P.S. Please pay attention to the Hard disk variations!!! Would that make a great difference in editing?
    Thank you in advance J

    That is a 17" right? I am going to buy a 15" I think.
The biggest problem with the Asus in question is that it will be really hard to upgrade it and I still did not find a model with SSD.
    I found a comparision review here:  http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-N550JV-CN201H-Notebook.98311. 0.html
The Asus scores better in the cinebench sector (slightly with OpenGL and much with CPU)  and the Lenovo is better in the Pcmark7 and the 3dmark11. What are these tests? and which one is more important when it comes to video editing?
Thank you again for your time and efferts
P.S. I am studying the article about Hard disks, it is really interesting!!! thanks
Correct it is a 17-inch, and of course it weighs and costs slightly more than a 15.6-inch
It is a very simple task to upgrade the unit to an dual SSD system, and memory upgrade is very easy.  You undo one screw on the bottom and (below) this is what you see.  Two disk drive carriers with my SSD's installed and two 8 GB SODIMM add on RAM modules
Those benchmarks have very little to do with editing with Premiere, there is only one real comperhensive Premiere benchmark it is our PPBM.

  • Best bluetooth card for early iMac G5 (2004)?

I've recently bought an iMac G5 without a bluetooth module. My understanding is that the following bluetooth cards would work with my iMac are:
    -A1115
    -A1044
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on which to buy?
Is one better than the other?
    Thanks.

You may be able to find what you need in the [DIY|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> manual appropriate for your model. However, I think that the BT module is soldered to the motherboard and is not user replaceable. Get an external dongle, which will work just as well.
