Which "publish size" to select when sharing video for YouTube

iMovie gives you 2 size options to choose from: 480 x 360, or 640 x 480.
which one do you recommend?
of course, it would be nice for iPhone users to see it, which leads me to 480 x 360. but at that smaller size, will there be enough resolution for people to enlarge it YouTube player?
my movie was created at 4:3 standard setting.
Thanks.

You can actually get the 640x480 onto an iPhone, but the big issue is file size - it'll be roughly 80% bigger than the smaller version.
Given the limits of Youtube, I generally use the smaller size. Try it and see - if you're not happy, reshare at the larger size

  • Output file size restrictions - HD Video for YouTube

For over a year YouTube has removed restrictions on file sizes for individuals that want to do so.  The preset output in Premier Elements 11 for "Online - HD Video for YouTube 1920X1080" will not allow a video longer than 15 minutes.  I need to remove this restriction and be able to produce files to upload to YouTube without file size restrictions.  How can I do this?

    TheBanjoNut
You cannot. And, Premiere Elements 12 has the same YouTube limitations as 11.
You need to export your Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive, and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
At YouTube, you would need to explore the opportunities that it offers in the way of "extended times". It may require special accounts.
Without further details of your Premiere Elements project preset and the properties of your source media, I would generalize and suggest that you look at the follow choices for creating this file for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site...
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets =
    MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30
    or
YouTube Widescreen HD (changing the settings under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the preset)
Please review. If you have any further questions on this, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

Why isn't my newly published book coming up when I search for it by title and by author on iTunes and iBooks?

Thanks, but it turns out iTunes just needed another 24 hours. Now when I search in iTunes by my name or book title, it comes up!
Do you happen to know why it doesn't list my name on itunes? It shows the title and then By (blank). Grr.

  • Script to encode jpg and mp3 into video for youtube?

    Hi!
Sometimes I upload music and stand-up to youtube. Till now I used wine + avisynth + virtualdubmod to achieve this. Lately I realized that there is another smipler way to carry out things: ffmpeg
I was looking for some script or one-liner which makes the encoding task, but unfortunately none of those mentioned scripts worked. They are all obsolate that are mentioned by others. Some of them works, but the resulting video are denied by youtube. Do anybody know a simple one-liner or script (or maybe a handy application) which can do the transcoding the right way?

You don't say if you want 1 or multiple .jpg images in the video.
    http://www.ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/ … m%20images
Script to encode jpg and mp3 into video for youtube?
With x264/mp3 into a mp4 container? Any number of ways. Here are some examples.
    ffmpeg -r 1 -i file.jpg -i file13.mp3 -c:a copy -c:v libx264 -b:v 500k ouput.mp4
    ffmpeg -loop 1 -i file.jpg -c:v libx264 -t 30 -i file.mp3 -c:a copy out.mp4
    ffmpeg -f image2 -i file.jpg -i audio.mp3 -c:a copy -c:v libx264 -b:v 500k output.mp4
Find out how you want to do, then if you want a script to automate it, something like
    #! /usr/bin/env bash
    echo "What image file?"
    read image
    echo "What audio file?"
    read audio
    echo "what video size?"
    echo "Example: 640x480"
    read size
    echo "Output file name?"
    read name
    ffmpeg -f image2 -i "$image" -i "$audio" -c:a copy -c:v libx264 -b:v 500k -s "$size" "$name".mp4
    exit
If you want to use multiple images, look at ffmpeg docs.

  • Encoding music video for Youtube - any advantage of using Pro (AME) over Elements?

I am in the process of encoding some music videos for youtube.  I'm currently using Steve Grisetti's suggested settings from mid-2011 here:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/623549
What I'm wondering is if the Adobe Media Encoder provided with Premiere Pro (or another such program with more features than the Premiere Elements 7 encoder) would provide better results?   For example, I noticed those programs have options such as 256kbps audio, 2-pass, and Variable Bit Rate (which PE7 doesn't seem to have).  Would that provide better quality?  Of course, I need the very best audio possible.
Also, I've read from various other people's suggestions, that FLV is a better export choice than h264 since less recoding by Youtube is done- any truth to that?
Lastly, would exporting to 1080 instead of 720 (and therefore giving youtube users the option of choosing either 1080 or 720) be better for the long term, or is there any reason why 720 is suggested?
My videos are short and were edited from DVD vob files.  I've very new to encoding so really appreciate the suggestions!
    Thanks!

I doubt that even a discerning ear to tell the original source Audio, after YouTube gets through Transcoding it for display. Also, viewers will be listening through their computer's speakers, and not a full home theater setup, where the Bit-Rate might make a slight difference. Also, most folk today, think that MP3's through ear-buds are "high fidelity."
The only plus for using AME is that once you have queued the Project up, you can do other things, while it is processing the file.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Which file/folder to select when using multiple libraries?

I've recently decided to split my library and my mom's library - but we still share a computer. And I'm not sure which file or which folder to say is the correct one for each library. For right now, each library is the same, but if I add a CD and she adds a different CD, we shouldn't be able to access each other's - and I'm trying to set it up so that doesn't happen.
Except I'm not tech savvy enough to do that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    tanner,
I don't have Vista in front of me, but on Win 7 you can set up a new account by Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove User Accounts > Create New Account.
Go ahead and create a new account and play with it a little.  It won't affect anything in the existing account.  When you feel comfortable, set up a new iTunes library in it.

  • Problem sharing video to YouTube from Elements 10

I am getting an error when trying to share a video to YouTube. I am using Elements 10 on a PC running Win 7, 32-bit. I have previously shared this video (back in April 2013) but have made some edits and now am unable to share it again. The error is "online services encountered an error the service will now be terminated or paused if possible." I am wondering if this has something to do with not being logged in to photoshop.com (which I realize is no longer active). The problem is I am also not able to choose "export" from the file menu (it is grayed out), so I am not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions?

Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 32 bit.
Before all else, what video card/graphics card does your computer use. If a NVIDIA GeForce card, then please stop and let us know immediately.
The problem is I am also not able to choose "export" from the file menu (it is grayed out), so I am not sure how to proceed.
After Premiere Elements 7, the File Menu/Export/Movie option was discontinued. In the versions afterward, export was from the area named Share (before version 11) or Publish+Share (versions 11 and 12). The File Menu/Export after version 7 is for export of Title created in Titler only. And, for it to be active you need to highlight the title file in media.
Just ignore or cancel out of any photoshop.com messages, and you will be OK.
Can you upload video to YouTube from your computer hard drive to YouTube web site, thus taking Premiere Elements out of the equation? This way we know if your YouTube account is OK.
Did you refresh Online Services in preferences? Are you having any problems with your Internet Connection?

  • When preparing video for Media Browser share it quits

I've been video taping class discussions on a Panasonic camcorder, and bringing them into Imovie.  Most of the movies are around an hour+ and take up all but a bit of the dvd.  Had no problems, and then I did one, where I inadvertently hadn't change the wide screen default to regular size, so redid it, and in the Share> media browser, it re processed it but when I made a few changes and set it up to reprocess to put on IDVD somewhere along the way it just popped the whole computer and went blank and shut off.  FORTUNATELY, Mac came back up and program doesn't seem to be damaged, altho I wouldn't know if it was, it just continued to work.
So, I dumped that project and redid it, and it processed fine and I put it in IDVD and burned it.
I went on to do 5 more, editing, and now I'm at the point of Share>Media browse for IDVD processing of all of them, and the first one I did, it blanked out the IMac again.  So I tried a 26 min one....and it did the same thing.
Has this happened to anyone else and what should I do?  Should I refresh the IMovie in case it has a glitch in there now? thanks
PS I did notice that when it's working, on an hour IMovie, it will say "this will take about an hour...."
when it doesn't work it usually starts our with "this will take about 2 hours"
This is IMovie in the ILife 09 version

I fully understand that rendering isn't conducive, but this is the trade-off that you're experiencing.
When clips are moved or composited, FCP has to prepare that video for display in the Canvas. If you're working in Unlimited RT - as most of us are - then you're asking FCP to work harder at doing just that. And, unlike Motion, FCP doesn't use the GPU whole-hog, so it's easy to max that resource out quickly with large images.
The only real way to prevent this from happening when you're moving clips is to toggle Caps Lock on, disabling rendering. I don't think this is particular conducive to most workflows either (especially if you're compositing), but if all you need to do is resequence existing elements, it might work for you.
The other possibility is to use lower-resolution proxy images but that, like everything else, isn't really an answer...

  • Listen Audio Player when loading video from Youtube

    Hi everybody
I'd like to solve such problem: when an online video (for example, from YouTube) is loading, the audio is completely controleld by firefox.
    I mean...
Let us suppose I want to listen some songs while an online video is loading.
It seems I can't, as the audio "works only for the online video".
How can I decide which "sources" I want to listen?
    Any ideas?

I don't know, linked wiki articles seem a bit difficult to me
Looking at the titles, however, it seem they not help me, as they talk about
    NO SOUND IN FLASH
and this is not my problem (which is, in some sense, teh converse).

  • Creating video for YouTube - which user settings?

I've seen a lot of posts about converting video for posting on YouTube but I can't find any information on the best sequence setting to CREATE video for posting on YouTube. I'm making a 30-45 second promotional video that will be entirely made up of stills/text and music, so I'm just going to be doing moves on jpegs. YouTube videos are now displayed 640.360, but I can't find a FCP sequence preset that will allow me to create a video at that size. Am I missing something? Should I just create it at some other widescreen setting then convert it down? Trying to keep this is simple as possible -- do not want to have to render every clip in the timeline.
    thanks,
    p

    Am I missing something?
Make your original video in one of the codecs supported by Final Cut Pro. You will find a list of possible codecs in the Easy Setup menu.
do not want to have to render every clip in the timeline...
Your source material is JPEG images. While they can be imported, they don't use a codec of their own. They will have to be rendered.

  • No sound when convert video for iPod Touch

I have videos that I recorded with my digital camera and when I "convert for iPod" the resulting video has no sound in iTunes or when I put it on my iPod.
Any ideas to what is wrong?

The file you are converting is muxed(audio and video are one track).
Quicktime is used by iTunes to do the conversions and quicktime does not like muxed files-so you get only video. Another possibility is that the audio is a weird codec that quicktime does not recognize.
Use a different transcoder-such as mpeg streamclip recommended above. I use it, it works very well. It has iPod presets.

  • I need help with exporting 720p video for youtube.

Hi everyone, I have been using Adobe premeir for almost a year now and I love it, as its very professional and powerful. I used to edit Standard with no problem, then export the full unconverted file (wmv) and run it though Windows Movie Maker to compress it (haha yeah I know its crazy.) Now that I got a camera capable of shooting HDV I want to use it. Im just wondering the following:
1.What format should I export with in Adobe Media Encoder? (Original Raw footage files from Camera are MOV formatted)
2.What should I set the Bitrate to?
3.How do I export to flash without it being to large of a file (Under 200mb's for a 5 minute video) and have it not choppy or pixelated?
4.How do I speed up exporting, how many passes should I do?
5.What overall is the best setup for youtube?
I also noticed a small glitch, and its when I export normally (full size, no compression) and run it though a compressor it cuts out all of the titles, and just flashes them for a milisecond. Its really odd. It only happens when I export in a certain format in which I cannot quite remember. Anyways.. thanks in advance for helping me. Its very appreciated.

perform a search using the term export for web and it should throw up some ideas.
    here's one for starters:

If you're using flip4mac to convert to wmv, the trial stops at 30 seconds - you need at least wmvstudio to export to wmv:

  • Best way to produce video for youtube

    Hi all
I am a newbie here but wondered if anyone has any tips for using PE4 to produce high quality youtube video. I am capturing HDV from a Canon HV30. (As aside if anyone has any questions about how to get the HV30 / PE4 combination to work, please ask)
Exporting it directly to youtube using the preset in PE4 leaves me with decidedly inferior quality results. Does anyone have any helpers
    Thanks
    Kevin

I have been tinkering with this problem for a day or so. Whatever commercial tool I tried didn't work. Results were still bad. <br /><br />Tnen I started playing with shareware and tried many configurations. Still junk. But there was one exception. With this tool, you should achieve good results.<br /><br />(1) Install WinFF at http://www.winff.org<br />Best of all, it's FREE!<br /><br />(2) Create a YouTube Preset for WinFF<br />After installing WinFF, make a profile specifically for YouTube. Just open Notepad and make a text file with the following code (copy paste between the lines below)<br /><br />----------------------------------------<br /><?xml version="1.0"?><br /><presets><br />  <YouTube><br />    <label>YouTube H.264 in MP4(4:3)</label><br />    <params>-r 30.00 -vcodec libx264 -s 640x480 -aspect 4:3 -b 2000k -acodec libfaac -ab 64k -ar 22050 -ac 2 -deinterlace -pass 2</params><br />    <extension>mp4</extension><br />    <category>Websites</category><br />  </YouTube><br /></presets><br />----------------------------------------<br /><br />Now save this text file as 'YouTube.wff' in the application directory (e.g., C:\Programs\WinFF)<br /><br />(3) Install the YouTube presets in WinFF<br />Under the menu item Edit > Presets, select 'Import' and locate the file 'YouTube.wff' <br /><br />(4) Select your video file for conversion<br />Open your high quality video in WinFF, and select from the drop down Convert to... [Websites] and submenu [YouTube H.264 in MP4(4:3)] <br /><br />(5) Adjust the video bitrate settings<br />The default video bitrate for this Preset is 2000kbps. In order to keep your file under the 100 megabyte upload limit, you will likely need to adjust this down, depending on the length of your video. Try not to go below 150kbps. Just enter a number in the Video Bitrate field.<br /><br />(6) Convert the file and upload it to YouTube<br />To lift YouTube's file size limit from 100 megabytes to 1 GB, use http://www.youtube.com/my_videos_multiupload. NOTE: This will still limit videos to 10 minutes length. But the more data you upload, the better the results. <br /><br />Overall, converting with this custom WinFF preset should yield better results.<br /><br />Good luck.
