I'm having the same problem. The iPad has never roamed particularly well between access points, but under IOS6 it doesn't seem to roam at all, it simply sticks with the access point it first connected with.

Im very interested in surfing the web from the comfort of my Lay Z boy. I have a 65inch Panasonic GT30 tv along with an Onkyo TXNR609 av receiver that handles everything (DirecTV, PS3, X360, Wii, Apple TV). If you ever (*ever*) want to fire up a serious 3D game (one with a 2010+ appetite for GPU power), go for the midrange model with the real videocard. If you only want to browse the web, maybe do some flash, things like that, the low end model has enough videocard for that. That Mini has the same Intel HD Graphics 3000 as my MBA13/2011 does, and that is currently driving my external 24" 1920x1200 screen just fine. Your TV is 1920x1080, so that even though it may have a lot more inches, it has fewer pixels than that, and it's the pixels that cost GPU power, not the inches. Size doesn't matter, its what you do with it!
Since you're comfortable upgrading the ram yourself, obviously put in 8 or 16 instead of the 2 or 4 it comes with. The pricing on that ram is insanely low right now and while I'd personally go for the 16 on a desktop machine, I reckon for your intended usage 8 is well more than sufficient (4 would probably work, it does on aforementioned MBA13 after all), and it's about $50ish difference which is not nothing.
If you can live with a small capacity drive, and are willing to open up the Mini further than just the base cover over the ram, I'd recommend getting a 128 GB SSD and installing it. The Apple price for the 256GB SSD, only on the midrange, is probably not worth it. You can even get a second-hard-drive-kit from one of the two well-known vendors and add the SSD while keeping the existing drive as an internal storage drive.
P.S.: I don't actually believe in CPU upgrades. Even when you start with the midrange, the i7 is still $100 and that will also buy you that SSD, or get you most of the way to that SSD plus the second hard drive kit. The difference in performance between the i5 at 2.5 and the i7 at 2.7 is really pretty darn minimal, so as long as you're choosing to do one thing and not the other, get the SSD before the CPU upgrade, no question. If you wanna go full-option balls-to-the-wall-everything-maxed, that's another thing, just don't go for the i7 upgrade as the first thing.
P.P.S.: Now that the 2012 MBAs and traditional MBPs are out, it seems likely that a Mac Mini refresh is coming relatively soon which contains an Ivy Bridge CPU and chipset (which means USB3 and HD4000), a more capable discrete GPU in the versions that have them, and (speculation tempered with hope) one of those new 35W TDP Quadcores in the midrange model, possibly as the CPU upgrade (pretty please, Apple?). It might be worth waiting for. On the other hand, waiting for new computer hardware is also a chump's game. There's *always* something better around the corner.

The biggest issue between the 1 and 2 is that all devices eventually age out of software updates. For example the iPad 1 maxed out at iOS 5.1.1, only the Touch 5 was eligible for iOS8 and I think only iPhones 4+ could get iOS8. So eventually, if you get a 1 you may face maxing out of the iOS updates before the two.
That said, even if your device maxes out it'll still run just fine as it is. You may just face issues with future apps....so say my iPad maxes out in December. In February a really cool game comes out and I want it... but wait, it's for the newer iOS and won't install on mine. If you're aware of the issue and accept the issue, there's no reason you can have a fully functioning older device.
And if the 1 is more stable than the 2, even better. I've been very lucky with my iPad 2 to have it be a very stable and dependable model while later models do seem to have had issues.

Is there a wireless router that works with 10.9 I will also need an extender?

I upgraded to 10.9 and it or I killed my wifi that had worked rather well for 1 1/2 years. Linksys tech attempted to help me but wanted me to buy a newer model I felt she were clueless or shaddy at best or both.
Been online searching for a top of the line router with no luck since I have no way of knowing if it will work with 10.9. All I can find is routhers that do not work with 10.9.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What I use and love: Netgear R6200 (no longer top of the line but gets through brick and maintains 35Mb signal at 30 ft. and is $100 less than when I bought it seems so short a time ago.
I don't (Mac Pro 1,1) run 10.9 which while I can find issues wth some Macs and wifi and with Apple routers, I would look at what you use for your Mac Pro to add wireless which might.

As far as finding your phone goes, log onto icloud.com and use it to find the phone. The phone needs to be turned on and still have battery power. If it has been stolen, the thief can wipe the phone of information, so get on it ASAP.

I have given up trying to get my Apple LaserWriter pro 630 to work with 10.6 so now I need to buy a new printer. Which reasonably priced colour laser printer should I buy?
I have a 27" iMac, a 24" imac, 17" Powerbook G5 and hopefully soon a second generation iPad which all need to print to the laser. The printer needs to take ethernet possibly wirelessly and USB would be a bonus. I don't have a very heavy usage but it must be capable of occasionally printing up to 200 copies.
On principle I wouldn't buy Dell after the 1997 comment!!
Do you have any suggestions?

There is a good discussion on Macintouch today about color laser printers, and how the cost of consumables can greater than the cost of the printer itself. You should keep that in mind as you consider your options. The print quality is very good on most of them, USB and ethernet is pretty standard, with wireless a common option these days. But it is not necessarily the case that a color laser is less expensive to operate than an inkjet. I have both, and I think they have about the same costs. I save the laser for multiple copies, and prints that need to be water resistant, but the inkjet is my everyday printer. The laser is faster for multiple copies. That is its big advantage, but it is somewhat mitigated now that I am trying to eke out extra pages from the cartridges.

Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

Either one will do the job. The more powerful the CPU, the faster it will perform. I suggest that if the budget is tight, go for the i5, if not go for what the bank account will allow.
It is nice to have a fast CPU, but they are not essential to the overwhelming applications that most people use, especially in a non-vocational context. On this forum there are the 'speed freaks' who will tout the virtues of faster CPUs, yet most have never compared two MBPs side by side and experienced the differences of real world results.

IMO, forget the calcs and buy as much storage as you can afford. Better to have and not need than need and not have. Plus it will be worth more when you sell it.
Note that videos are not stored in iCloud and videos taken with the iPhone can be very big, hundreds to thousands of megabytes.

Which Settings/Codecs Should I Capture and Work In?

I am about to start an editing project and I need some advice.
The source material is 10 hours of PAL Betacam SP.
We will have a high quality deck as well as high end capture card. What I would like to know is how high a quality/codec should I capture with to give us the highest quality source to work with (the full project will be online).
As in, at what point do you see no additional quality? For example, would I see benefit capturing at 10-bit versus 8-bit, Uncompressed vs. compressed, etc.. Keeping in mind the PAL Betacam SP source.

Since betasp is 8-bit, the highest you should go is 8-bit. Digibeta is 10-bit.
But I'd suggest, if you have lots of footage, cutting at an offline resolution first, then onlining 8-bit.
Gonna need a high speed RAID array too. SATA Raid should be fine for 8-bit and 10-bit.
