Which runs better? Windows 7 or Windows 8
Can anyone reccomend if I should install windows 7 or windows 8 on Bootcamp - are there pros and cons. I am currently an XP user, so either way I am going to be faced with a new windows GUI so from that standpoint it doesn't matter to me, but wondered if there a version preference that runs better on Bootcamp?
Jump on Windows 8 and then redo with the 8.1 Preview.
It is ready, I like it, IE11 is also nice.
Windows 7 is 4 yrs old and while an improvement over Vista, it does not when I go back to using it feel as smoother or as smart.
8/8.1 deal with updates much better. Even the way it boots to desktop if you want. I was never enamoured of Start menu. Which has some in a fuss - I avoid the new Metro and for me, stays out of the way. Very efficient with resources.
I would only caution not to use or install say Safari 5 which is stuck in the past, or even iTunes, it wants to take over too much and of course is untested on 8 even. (My systems run better w/o).
Runs better on an iMac that has xx RAM, hard drive space, cpu specs, and what graphic card? and what do you run natively? New Macs can do most any non-3D or games or heavy lifting in a VM where you can run side by side. But if you need to run native and dual boot, then install it on a partition first.
Make sure you hve about 80GB disk space, 50 at least, and either is or convert during install to NTFS.

Control a program which running in Windows
Hi all,
I have a program. When this program run on windows desktop, I can control it by using VB6 or C# if it is running (online when VB6 control).
(This program provide a dll file to access it when running)
For example :

First, Java is a platform independent language. That is, it doesn't know that dll's exist, because on operating systems like linux, they don't. So the standard java libraries don't provide any way to do this. You will need to use JNI to interoperate with native code, so JNI tutorials are a good place to start.
Also, since you're tring to communicate with programs that are already running, a good google search term would be "inter-process communcation", or IPC.

Calling an unix command from a java program which runs on windows

I want to call an unix command on server(II) from java application which is on server(I)
I am using Samba Server in order to share files between Windows Server and Unix Server
Can I use samba in order to call command
or is there any way to open an telnet session within java application

I have a desk top which has Windows Vista. On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time. My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer. I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match. When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music. Itune always goes to the sample music. The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7. Does anyone have any suggestions?Hi,

Both those patches need to be manually applied to PSE 9.

How do i restore my itunes to my laptop which runs on Windows Vista Basic?
I had to reload my system yesterday, and the only thing left to do it put my itunes from my ipod to my library. Which is better to run Quicken for Windows - Parallels or CrossOver?
I have the latest version of Parallels Desktop 8 for Macintosh. I use Windows Vista Home Edition with it. The only Windows program I need to run is Quicken 2013 Deluxe for Windows which runs a little slow on Parallels. Does anyone know if the latest version of CrossOver would allow the Quicken program to run quicker? The CrossOver site says it runs Windows programs natively on the Mac. Does natively mean quicker? I'd rather not clog up my computer with Windows if I don't need it.

Since call_form & run_report_object search for forms & reports on Windows using the forms_path & reports_path I was considering using URLs and the web.show_document built-in to run each form & report from the menu form that was why I was asking if there are any advantages of one method over another.

I have some softwares from my previous Dell laptop that will only run on Windos OS. I am considering installing either Windows 7 or 8 on my Mac but I would like to know which version will run better and smoother without glitches and is more reliable. Hi I have run both 7 and 8 under bootcamp with osx 10.7 and 8 under 10.8.5.
I was able to use Win 7 for work, but found that Win 8 was too slow. Hard disk write speeds were very bad and I could not keep multiple applications open without the MBP slowing down so as to be unusable.
Both win 8 and 7 were fine for gaming, such as Lara Croft and Skyrim.
Without a doubt I would say that 7 is more stable and runs better under bootcamp. -
i downloaded the icloud to my pc it says to login with apple id and it says it is a valid apple id but not cloud but i cannot get the control panel for icloud to come up to set it up on my pc which runs windows 8

@I run a Windows 8.1 - Photoshop CS5 under Parallels on an iMac one year old and both having the latest OS. I use a NIK plugin "VIVEZA" which run fine for years without a problem. Latelt and without a reason, the NIK plugin has gone corrupt, (can not use it more the 2 corrections after a get a black background message that there is not enough memory) and the system stops running and a must restart is required. How do I fix this terrible problem?
If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
Ram available = 1588 MB
Range = 873 -1143 MB
Recommended Photoshop usage range = 857 however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)
The Photoshop I use is registered, I have product # and order # .Contact NIK for updated/upgraded versions of their plug-ins. They have been having a lot of issues with their plug-ins.
