Which security setting is the simplest

I have an AEBS, a recently bought Macbook pro and an AX bs. Can anyone tell me which is the easiest and most hassle free security setting WPA personal or WEP for the network?? I live in a place where securityt shouldn't be a concern, but recently I started detecting some other wireless networks, so I guess if I see them, they can see me as well.

Applications > Utilities > Airport Admin Utility
Scan and Select your Airport
On the Airport Tab
Change Wireless Security
Use WPA Personal
Use a password like this:
4fghj8eybs9nf78swnu
Remember to write it down.
I would also change the Wireless Network Name as well, but this is not needed.
Click OK
Click Update
You will now be thrown off the wireless network.
Wait at least five minutes.
The from the Airport icon in the menu bar, select your network, you will be asked for your password, enter the password, check keep in Keychain (so your Mac will remember it).
That's it.
Don't worry about using anything else, WPA is pretty much uncrackable unless you use a dictionary word for a password such as "table".

Amongst the character set WE8ISO8859P1 and AL32UTF8 which is the super set of the other.

Pierre is correct-- the set of characters that can be encoded using AL32UTF8 is a superset of the characters that can be encoded via WE8ISO8859P1. But characters in WE8ISO8859P1 between 128 and 255 (i.e. the non-ASCII characters) don't have the same binary representation in AL32UTF8 they did in WE8ISO8859P1. If you are looking to change a database character set, that makes a difference. The Oracle documentation on changing character sets frequently considers superset/subset to be a binary superset/subset rather than a logical superset/subset.

Cannot implment security setting on the report level - SSRS 2012

Hi All:
I am having a weird problem on my SSRS 2012 reporting portal, I cannot click any of the drop down list like the example below. Is there anything from the setting?
It is not only about the reporting level, any arrow on the reporting server, like data source, are kind of dead as well.

According to your description, you can view folders and reports on report manager, but you could not click any of the drop down list.
Reporting Services uses role-based security to grant user access to a report server, and there are two types of roles: Item-level roles and System-level roles. Access to reports, folders, models, shared data sources, and resources is controlled through item-level
role assignments. Each user who requires access to a report server must have at least one item-level role assignment. On a new installation, only local administrators have access to a report server. In this case, a local administrator need to create a role
assignment which has Manage folders and Manage reports task to the account by following steps:
Click Home at the top of the page to open the Report Manager home page.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the folders and reports.
Click New Role Assignment.
In Group or user name, specify the name of a group or account.
Select a role which can perform Manage folders and Manage reports tasks.
Click OK to save the role assignments.

Which security setting should I use?

I just installed a WRT300N and I am trying to set the Wireless Security. This is a home network with 2 desktops wired 1 desktop wireless and 2 wireless laptops.
So many choices and I'm lost.
WEP
PSK Personal
PSK2 Personal
PSK Enterprise
PSK2 Enterprise
RADIUS
Which is the strongest and the best to use??
Also should I enable SSID Broadcast and what does this do?
Sould I use the Wireless MAC Filter for just the internal machines.
Any other suggestions to secure and get as much speed as possible?

Those Encryption are provided by the router.. all you have to do is check on the capability of you wireless adapters.... You should checked the compatible encryption for your network cards... for example:
most wireless - b cards are only working on WEP.....
Wireless - G cards are compatible with WEP and WPA personal...
Its only matter of checking on the capability of your cards.....
You could also contact the Manufacturer of those wireless adapters

Why exportButton which is set in the pageButtonBar is not working.

There is a QueryRN. it maps a VO.
There is a ExportButton in the pageButtonBar and it maps the same VO.
At the same time, simpleSearch and advanceSearch are added to the QueryRN.
the problem is that when i come to the advanceSearchPG, if the only one item of search exists, the ExportButton is working. But if the more items of search exist, when i click the ExportButton, there is a error appearing in the page.
the error content is like below:

This is a developer mode error. Can you check this by removing the developer mode from Project Setting > Run Options and run the page.

A new tab now appears over my home page which is set correctly; the same tab appears when I want to print from internet and I CAN'T PRINT.

A new tab has suddenly appears over my home page when I go online. I don't know where this came from; is it a Mozilla Firefox thing? Even worse, when I try to print from internet, this page appears instead of my printer box and I am unable to print what I want.

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

Error when setting dynamically the target URL in receiver SOAP Adapter

The receiver adapter fails with:
"invalid content type for SOAP: TEXT/HTML; HTTP 401 Unauthorized"
Reading weblogs, etc, the most probable cause for this is a wrong target URL, but then what I did was to set it as a fixed URL in the C.Channel, and it worked, so the URL is fine.
In the communication channel, I'm using "Configure user authentication", with a user and password, and what I think it's happening is that if I use another different URL dynamically, the channel is ignoring the user authentication settings.
Any ideas?

I forgot to say that I've checked the SAP note "FAQ Soap adapter", and it says:
Q: I get an authorization error "401 Unauthorized" from the adapter's servlet. What went wrong?
           A: The adapter's servlet is protected by default. You must use one of the user names assigned in security role xi_adapter_soap_message for component XISOAPAdapter. Please consult the documentation for Visual Administrator to view and change the security setting.
           The user authentication of the SOAP adapter is not part of the SOAP adapter but of the web container of the J2EE engine. The default authentication setting is defined in the web.xml descriptor file of the SOAP dapter web application. This setting may be modified from Visual Administrator with some restriction. Please refer to the security documentation for the J2EE engine.
           Please note that 710 onwards there is no Visual Administrator instead the Netweaver Administrator is to be used to assign the roles to the user to access the SOAP adater servlet.The user must be assigned one of the following roles SAP_XI_IS_SERV_USER, SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER, SAP_XI_DEVELOPER_J2EE, SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR_J2EE.
The target URL is a sender soap adapter (the result of one interface is sent to another one via soap adapter), and it's this one which is complaining because of the authentication I think. But I don't know why it's ignoring the user authentication flag I'm using.

High (Maximum) Security Setting for FIOS Firewall

If you set the maximum security setting on the Verizon FIOS Firewall then whenever Verizon decides to swap its IP's you are screwed; the unit will not get the new IP.
To compensage for the maximum settings I have enable all of the verizon unit (SBU's) to have unrestricted access aka ANY but this does not do the trick.
Verizon in its ultimate wisdom has not bothered to document anywhere what are the minimum outbould settings should be that would enable this communication in the High (Maximum) security mode.
Does anyone from Verizon read this stuff?

So, I'm pretty much convinced now that the problem with low-quality LR previews seems to be mostly isolated to the previews that LR generates after you make edits in the 'Develop' module.
Upon first import, this image looked fine in the 'Library' & 'Slideshow' modules. After making some edits (color, tone, etc.) in the 'Develop' module, I ended up getting this hideous preview in the 'Library' & 'Slideshow' modules:

You people with LCDs will be able to see the JPEG artifacts better than those with CRTs, since LCDs tend to be sharper.
So, the obvious question is this:
Does LR, when *re-generating* previews for edited images, ignore the quality-setting for JPEG previews (which I have set to 'high')??

Web service: Cannot remove WSS security setting

Hi,
i have a problem about developing web service with jdeveloper 10.1.3.1
The problem is that ---> once i have add the security to the web service
(through the web service wizard .. i,e, right click the web service and
select "Secure Web Service'), i CANNOT REMOVE the security setting using
the web service wizard...
call the web service always say missing wsse:Security SOAP header..
do anybody have the solution?

the issue is still there in 10.1.3.3, and it must be somewhere on JDeveloper or OC4J side. Moreover, it's not limited to removing security settings, as the situation (old settings remembered) is the same when editing security settings.
lsp,
before regenerating a web service and its xml files (editing security properties), make sure you have cleaned the project and then you can try deleting the oracle-webservices.xml file from your project directory, because JDeveloper does not seem to be willing to overwrite it during regeneration.
If this does not help and you are using embedded OC4J, you can try the following steps before running the web service again:
- delete the embedded-oc4j/application-deployments/current-workspace-app directory, because it contains an oracle-webservices.xml file which may be outdated,
- empty the contents of embedded-oc4j/config/wsmgmt.xml, because it contains security settings for web services you have deployed so far, which also may be outdated,
- restart JDeveloper :)
Note that these are just guesses to solve the problem. Unfortunately doing all of these did not solve it for me.
So if anybody has some more ideas, we'll be happy to hear them.

Airport Express not recognized by Utility after changing security setting.

We use an Extreme with an Express to extend the network and run speakers. While trying to eradicate Airtunes dropouts I changed the security setting on the Express using the Airport Utility. After the update, the Express is no longer being recognized. Help!!! I've unplugged it and used the reset button to no avail. I'm a techno-dummy, so please be gentle. I really do appreciate any insight.

It seems you have set a too strong security on the Extreme that is not supported on the Express.
I don't know what model of Express you have so try to use a less strong security on the Extreme.
(you can find the security specs of your express on Apple's website : http://support.apple.com/specs/#airport )
As you have reset the Express... you will first have to set it up again...
P.S. : Do the connection drop problems occur on the Express and / or on the extreme ?
As security settings "should" not be the cause for WiFi connection drop, something else is.
Can you give more info on what you already tried ? Ex : Multicast Rate, Transmit Power, Use wide channels, Closed network, Use interference robustness

SendAndLoad fails in mac .app version - possible security setting problem?

Hi all,
I'm having trouble with sendAndLoad working on the .app version of a flash application I made. So far it's only happening on one computer, so it appears to be some sort of security setting. Here's what's going on:
I've built a flash application (Flash 9, AS2) that has three versions: an online version, a standalone .exe version for PC, and a standalone .app version for mac. The user must log in to use the application. Online, this is handled by the portal hosting the flash. In the standalone versions, the user must login through the flash application. Through sendAndLoad, it accesses the same database of user info as the online version. The user just enters username/password, clicks "Submit," and if it finds the combination in the database, it lets the user in. If not, it gives them a message saying they entered the wrong username/password.
This has tested fine across macs and pcs, but sadly one macbook can't use the .app version. It launches, they put in valid username/password, hit submit and it freezes. All I can tell is that it gets the httpStatus number 0. As you can see below, I've got it set up to spit out an error message if it fails to load (login_lv.onLoad = function(success)), but it doesn't even do that.
I've put a crossdomain.xml file at the root level of the domain that's set to allow access from any domain.
This computer can log in successfully to the online version of the course, but the .app version seems to be hampered by some sort of security setting. The problem computer's settings match the settings of a mac I've tested successfully. It has up-to-date Flash 10 and is running Leopard. Here are security settings:
System Preferences>Security
     General
          Everything is unchecked
     FileVault
          Turned off
     Firewall
          "Allow all incoming connections" is selected
I'd appreciate any ideas anyone has. I'm far from wise about the ins-and-outs of mac security, so I may be missing something. I'm happy to clarify anything.
Code is below. It loads login_lv first, then bookmark_lv. It never gets far enough to load bookmark_lv. The severAppUrl is set to a placeholder for confidentiality's sake. The path is defintely right. It works on other computers.

try using different loadvars instances for your send loadvars and for your receive loadvars.

Cookie set on the request from flex disappers

All,
I need to set cookie for calls from flex. So on the server side I set the cookie and send the response back to flex. I used tools like tamperdata and debugbar to monitor the request calls and I found that the cookie i set is available + a
JSessionID cookie is also available in the response headers "
Set-Cookie".Since cookie is set on the response headers, it is expected to be available in all the next successive calls.
But on my next successive call I see only the the Jsession id for all the calls. And in some call i see the cookie I set.
I use caringorm framework. So far I have analysed and found that if the call goes from same delegate I see my cookie, but if its from different delegate then i don't see the cookie in the request. I tried using same delegate for all my commands by creating objects of the same delegate but still it didn't work.
I feel creazy when i thing why only JseesionId is available in the cookie and not the one which i set in the calls irrespective of the delegate. I am not sure where i am going wrong. Even when i try to do document.cookie in the external interface call or in the URL using Javascript alert I only see a empty string not ven the Jsession id in the document.cookie. some thing is really creazy.
Sicne result event does not have the option of cookie, is flex eating the cookie set on the response. Then why on Jsessionid is available? I have also seen that in HTTPServiceMessage has an option of recordHeaders. Is my isseu is related to this. If so please let me know an example to use this. I am going insane with this issue. Please help!!

It's probably not the same delegate you need to hit, but exactly the same HTTPService.
This is a bit I've gleaned from encountering similar issues, so it might not be exactly right!
The Flash Player attaches the cookie info into the Channel that is used to make the call. If you want the same cookie, you need to use the same Channel.
The jsessionid you are seeing is the way the same session is indicated to back end resources, so if two Flash apps hit the same service it knows they are different.
The way I'm currently playing with, is to keep the ChannelSet around and inject it into Services as I need them, that's covering most of my problems!

Recomnded setting for the client browser with oas

Hi all,
I am using webforms10g(9.0.4) with OAS(first release).
In some sites the client can not open the reports(in rtf format)-the screen shows up
for a second,and then disappear.
In others the client get alert that allow him only to save the file(not to open).
I think that it relate to security setting in the browser of the client(internet explorer).
Is there recommend list for parameter setting in the explorer of the client for using with OAS?

I have a new email address and my old email keeps coming up on icloud when trying to update apps and i don't know the password or security questions for the old email. I can sign in with my apple id which is tied to another email but not itunes how to fix

I have an apple id and it has my current email attached to it. however when i go to update apps it's asking for the password for an old email. I no longer have the old email and can't use it. when I go to icloud on my ipad it asks for the password for old email. it doesn't allow me to change the old email to current. when i go to reset it i can't remember the password or security questions for the old email so it doesn't let me go any further. How do I fix this? Do i need to call apple support?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
