Which smart tv (SAMSUNG U46F7000 or SONY BRAVIA W8 46'') has the best communication and functionality with apple devices?

Which SMARTTV (SAMSUNG U46F7000 or SONY BRAVIA W8 46'') has a better communication and functionality with apple devices (i pad- iphone).
Since the above manufacturers do not give me a straight answer and it is very important reason for me to make a choice please advise!

Sorry but I must correct about SONY!!!
The question was for Bravia series W9 and not W8.

I see a difference in LED lighting. The Sony has three colors as the Samsung just uses white. Does anyone know why the Samsung seems to be more popular? Which is the better tv?
    Review comparison

From what I have heard and read.  Samsung Panels are just spectacular at producing whiter whites and blacker blacks.  When it comes down to comparing these 2 models that are so close to each other in terms of company competition.  Best thing you can do is see them in person
My vote goes to Samsung BTW

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.
    Good luck Derek

  • I am trying to hook my macbook pro to a sony bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. The same set up has worked with three other, though different televisions. Any thoughts?

I am trying to hook my MacBook Pro to a Sony Bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. I have used the same setup with three other TV's, each a different brand with no problem. Any ideas?

Is the TV set to take input from the HDMI connection?
On your computer, if you open the Displays preferences and do not see an Arrangement tab (or there is an Arrangement tab that shows only a single monitor) then there is something physically wrong with your connection.  Try clicking Detect Displays just to see if the computer can now sense the presence of the connection.  Check your connections.
If you do have an Arrangement tab, and it shows two screens, then click Gather Windows to bring the TV's Displays preferences on to your main screen if the TV is not yet showing an image.  Set the proper resolution (probably 720p, 1080i, or 1080p).  Set the refresh rate (probably 60Hz) if that preference is shown.  You should see a picture at this point.  I  recommend turning off mirrored displays if it is enabled.

If the HDMI input to the Samsung is not compatible, does it have a VGA or composite input?  I have both the HDMI and VGA adapters for the iPad, which work with the small Vizio HDTV I tried.  I understand a composite video adapter is also available.

In the past, when I updated iTunes, some items would be 'lost'. I quit updating, still running 10.6. I do keep my files on an external hard drive, which I plug in before starting iTunes. If I leave the drive off, and update, would that keep me from losing any files? Also, does anyone know how to search the iTunes store by price? I'm particularly interested in movies and audiobooks... Thanks

iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first.  Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one?  The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless).  To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes.  To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup".  Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

If the entire library is on the external drive then simply copy the iTunes folder into <User's Music> on the new computer, then install iTunes. If you've already installed iTunes you will want to remove the empty iTunes folder in <User's Music> first.
If it turns out you only have the media folder on the external drive then take a look at this post...

  • Which is the best antivirus and spyware for Mac?

    Good morning,
Because of schoolwork and extracurricular activities, I am constantly sending and receiving e-mails and messages to and from PCs and other Apple devices, like IPads. Two years ago I purchased a 120,12GB MacBook Air and, until a few months ago, it went perfectly well.
I am not sure what happened, but lately, every time I go online, whatever I click -whether it is a random letter in a website, or a blank space in a page, anything- an advert appears or a new -unwanted- tab opens with publicity and such, the kind of additional tabs that open when you are watching movies online in a random website, but this time, it is happening with every website (even the Apple site) and almost constantly. I suspect it is something I downloaded or maybe something I received from an infected PC that I got a virus or problem from.
I tried using the MacKeeper software, but it is not working for me (?). Also I tried blocking pop-ups (I use Google Chrome), Java Script, automatic downloads, complements and everything I could when going online, but it has not gotten better over the last 9 months. My parents also recommended me a very good technician, who I personally know and has solved many of my previous problems, but he could not help me, in this situation.
For that reason, I have been considering either purchasing a good antivirus for my Mac or a new Mac and an antivirus for it, to prevent future problems like this one.
Either way, the question is the same,
Which is the best antivirus and spyware software for Mac?
Thank you so much for your attention.

Please get rid of MacKeeper, as it and most other such junk software will do more harm than good.

Which Canon Camcorder in the affordable price range has the best built in onboard microphone for recording musical instruments
    Thanks.

    TheBee,
    Thanks for writing!
The built-in microphones on the camcorder are fairly similar.  When you're recording music, we recommend the use of an external microphone.
The mic you use really depends on what you're recording and where.
So we may better assist you, please provide a bit of information regarding the type of recordings you'll be making, the music and the setting (i.e. what kind of venue, your distance to the music, etc).

  • Which model has the same graphics and audio as T430s?

I have a T430s running win xp and I would like to be able to take the hard drive out and use it another laptop.  The other laptop needs to have the same (or similar enough to use the same drivers) graphics (intel HD 4000?), audio etc so that it will work without windows starting the new hardware wizard each time.
Processor speed is not that important but core 2 duo is probably the minimum.  Also, the same type of easy access hard drive bay as the T430s.
Is there anything lower down (or older) in the T series or indeed any other lenovo which fits the bill?
You may ask "why not just take the T430 with you?" but it is not always possible and a hard drive is much more portable.
    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

I think going this route will create more problems then you'll solve. Windows can be very picky about changes in hardware. It might work on identically configured models of the T430s, but even then the MAC address on the network cards would be different and some components, such as DVD drives, could be different.
If you'll have internet access at both locations you can use remote desktop or another remote access program to access the other machine. If not you can purchase a SSD and a USB 3.0 Enclosure or a fast USB 3.0 thumbdrive. Then you can just run everything you need from the SSD and take the SSD in the enclosure with you. If your workload isn't processor or graphics intensive you could simply use the SSD to hold a virtual machine with everything you normally use in it. For an elegant solution, you could use a live booting Linux solution that was installed on the SSD and boot into Linux. Then run your VM from inside of Linux.

  • Am I the only S5 owner who has ALREADY has the USB cover break off with regular use, AND have Verizon and Samsung say it is damage and NOT a mfg. defect?

I bought the S5 less than two months ago through Verizon, not Amazon.  One of the selling points is that the phone is water and dust resistant.  The USB port comes with a little flap plug attached to the phone by a rubber or plastic pin.  To charge the phone, this plug is pulled aside, then replaced after charging.  In less than two months, the plug attachment broke.  Calls to Verizon resulted in the following: They told me I needed to contact Samsung directly.  I told them that I did not buy the phone from Samsung.  They agreed to call Samsung directly while I was on hold.  When they came back on, they told that Samsung said that this problem was phone damage and not manufacturer defect.  The fix would be done at my cost.  Verizon said that they would change me $300 if I sent the phone back to them.
I don't believe this dust cover is critical to the enjoyment of the phone, but it is discouraging to think that Samsung should sell a phone for $600 with such a manufacturer defect, and that Verizon refused to go to bat for a customer.

Did you look at your own link?  It's not available yet.  I don't know how to state that more clearly.  If it was available, I would have said, "I was also concerned about that flimsy cover breaking off so I purchased a Samsung QI charging cover for my phone.  That way I don't have to mess with the USB port cover."  But it's not available yet so I said I'm impatiently waiting for it to be released.
And before you get all excited and tell me how stupid I am, most of the items on your link are for the S3, S4, and Note 3.  Those are entirely different phones.  The only S5-specific QI products available now are 3rd party units that are held in place with tape and look pretty hokey.

  • I have just bought an iPod Nano to replace my previous one which died, when I open my iTunes it does not show the new iPod, and refuses to allow me to sync my existing library, the new iPod does not show in my computer only on devices, any suggestions ?

It sounds like your iPod is not recognized in either Explorer, or in iTunes on your PC. That can be frustrating, expecially when its a new device. I recommend you use the following article to help resolve that issue named:
