Which sound driver to use ILSR, MSI, Nvidia or Realtec

Which sound driver is working best with the K7N2 Delta?
I am using the one that comes on the Nvidia unified drivers right now but am wondering which one is really better.

Grog: Next time you do a search on the web use "SoundStorm" rather than "Sound storm". nVidia is third or fourth in list after search using google!

You are right though, the manual is a little "Sketchy" with the details - it's not really surprising there's confusion

Are you certain that you're asking your question in the right place? This forum is about the Adobe Media Encoder application. Most of the people who answer questions here are familiar with the digital video and audio applications such as After Effects and Premiere Pro.

This is a somewhat daft question and purely out of interest.
How does disk utility decide which optical drive bay to open for burning?
I have two drives in a MacPro and both have the same capabilities (DVD-RW). Why does it sometimes open the lower one, and sometimes the top one?

If I read your reply correctly, Erase and Zero Out free space shouldn't elongate the process, because there's no read occurring.
The drive will not be Mounted while Disk Utility works on it, so it will not be on the Desktop. But ask Apple System Profiler \[ About this Mac > More Info > Serial ATA ] if the drive is still THERE . If it cannot be seen, you have your answer -- the drive dropped out of sight while being tested -- Bad Drive.
Well, now I am confused. It's a FW800 drive. It's on the Desktop. And it appears under FireWire in System Profiler. AND Disk Utility shows a mount point. But the Unmount and Eject buttons are grayed out.
Will the drive be mounted if it fails to respond to Disk Utility? That doesn't seem to make sense.
How do I determine its status? It appears to be stuck at "1 day, 5 hours" but it'll take an hour for that to change. I think it's been that long since I first noticed the time.

Help with Live!Drive IR + Which Sound Card to Use (Live! vs Audi

Hey guys-- Recently a friend and I started recording music, my neighbor gave me a few cards, and this Li've!Dri've IR.
First, he gave me a Li've! 5. (SB0060) and an Audigy (SB0090) Card. The Li've!Dri've IR (SB000) isn't even listed on products on the Creative American Site. Instead, it is only listed on the HK (Honk Kong) website.
However, neither on the HK site, or the American site, can I find drivers for the dri've. When I say drivers, I honestly don't know if it has item specific drivers or if it functions without them (like a USB hub) but I am missing all of the Creative Suite (Play Center, remote, etc..) The American Site has a bunch of driver UPDATES but not the actual package for the bundled software... I only got 5. drivers off of there. I also have a remote that came with it.Additionally, I was wondering if I could (or should) use the Audigy Card over the 5. card.. I tried to look on the site to compare the differences but they are both so old it was hard to tell. I read that both cards would work with the AudigyDri've but I'm not sure about the backwards capabilities to work with the Li've!IR Dri've.ANY help at all would be wonderful.Note: I am running SONAR 4. if that makes any difference. Li've!dri've works with both Li've! and audigy card. You will need to get the installation CD to install all the necessary files to works with the li'vedri've. What they have on the support pages are only updates and not standalone installation. I suggest you contact their support and get from them a installation CD. If not, I have the iso of the CD and it's 540MB. If you have ftp then I can upload it to you.

In the prefrences of the Linux version of Spotify, there is absolutely nothing that shows what sound driver is currently being used, or lets you select one. This would be a great addition. When I have only JACK running, and start Spotify, it refuses to play (it gives a connection error).When I have Pulseaudio running, and start Spotify, it will play.When I have neither running, one would think that it would revert to ALSA, but just like when JACK is running, it refuses to play (and gives a connection error). It would be great if it was clear in the preferences what sound driver is being used, and let us change the sound driver to the one we would like to use (like JACK, even if Pulseaudio is running). VLC has implemented this well. I did not know that :) Still, looking in the terminal for the sound driver being used it isn't very intuitive.It also doesn't give you the option of selecting which sound driver you would like to use (ALSA, JACK, Pulseaudio, etc).

I've installed nVidia and realtek sound driver also. I've got BSOD when I plug in 3.5mm jack headphone. When I want to listen music with my Bluetooth stereo headset I also got BSOD.

The sound card of your notebook is a Realtek one so you have to reinstall the Realtek sound driver that you can download on official Toshiba website.
But as MisterX wrote you should also reinstall the Bluetooth driver because the tosrfsnd.sys file belongs to BT driver so its worth a try ;)

MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI driver problem

Hi.. I really need your help guys..
First of all, I have Windows XP Pro.
Okay, I have this MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI card, and wanted to change drivers.
I had 50.xx, and wanted to change back to 40.xx, because it works better with Counter-Strike.
So, I went into Device Manager and went into the video card properties -> driver.
I pressed the 'Uninstall driver', because you need to uninstall the newer driver if you want to install an older driver.
Then my computer restarted, and when it was booting, a blue screen or something came up, with text about my computer was deleting and scanning some files(?).
I don't know what it was uninstalling excatly, but when I got into Windows I had to use a 'VGA driver' or something..
I tried to install the 40.xx driver, double clicked the Setup.exe but when it was begining to install this error came up: 'An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040702)'.
I don't know what it means, but I can't install any drivers for nVidia?!
I tried the Device manager, and I can't update the 'VGA' ..
It's like my computer isn't recognizing the card or something.. I've tried 'Add new hardware' and everything.
Please help me!

Generally for nVidia drivers for the VGA, is what I explained above by going to Add Remove programs in control panel and look for the entry for nVidia display drivers.
Since you are asking me this, I fear you may not be at the experience level required to do this as it can be somewhat of a nightmare if all the drivers are not removed completely. This is what you just experienced.
Look at the top of this forum and you will se an Important thread called driver cleaner, by Bonz and then the one above it by me. Go to the DriverHeaven Website and download the DC utility but make sure you read EVERYTHING and understand it before you proceed. If you are confused or not comfortable, then I suggest finding someone that is experienced enough to do it for you.
It should be pretty straightforward.

I have been using the Windows 7 x64 drivers with no problems, but i notice Daniel k's drivers located here ( http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-X-Fi-Series-Support-Pack-2-0-05-5-2009/td-p/527485 ) and am now wondering if i should used it's Is it worth the swap or should i stick with official stuff?

Also, what do you mean install the creative drivers on top? Do you install the Daniel K drivers then the creative ones?

I'm new to (Arch) Linux and was wondering which display driver package I need. I have a Dell Latitude D620 with a "nvidia quadro nvs 110m".
In the Arch Linux beginners guide it says:
1. nvidia-96xx slightly newer cards up to the GF 4.
2. nvidia-173xx Geforce FX series cards
3. nvidia newest GPUs after the GF FX
Consult the NVIDIA-Homepage to see which one is for you.
But on the NVIDIA-Homepage it says:
The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer.
And they just forward me to Dell Support which obviously neither offers a linux driver nor linux driver information for the D620.
So which of the three packages do I have to install?
Are these packages open-source drivers? Do I need proprietary nvidia drivers to get full 3D-performance?
Does anybody have experience with the D620?
Although I'm new to Linux and I like the KISS idea behind Arch Linux, I still want to have all that Compiz Fusion eye candy. I also want to play a few games which need 3D performance (once I'm familiar with wine). ;-)

Final question: How does Arch Linux deal with license issues? If the nvidia package includes the original nvidia drivers linked above, doesn't that cause any legal/moral problems? Like in Ubuntu for example they always point out that it's proprietary software you're gonna install when enabling the nvidia drivers.

Dv7-1264nr sound driver issue for using directtc2pc

I just installed directtv2pc and am unable to use it to view video on demand dowloads on the dvr. The error message I receive says the video's audio is protected content and to please update my sound driver. Researching the direct tv forums shows that I need a sound driver that is hdcp compliant. However the latest driver available on the download list for this model is the one that is currently installed on this pc. Does anyone have any idea on an optional driver I can use?

Just got off the online support line with HP. They have resolved my issue. I had to disable the docking audio driver. Here is the info:
TECH : Larry, right click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select playback.
TECH : It will open the sound properties window.
TECH : Let me know when you are in the sound properties window.
CLIENT : done
TECH : Under the playback devices may I know which devices are listed.
CLIENT : Speakers and Dual Headphones=IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (Default) 2. Independent Dual Headphones (not plugged in) 3. SPDIF (Digital Out via HP Dock) IDT High Def (ready).
TECH : Right click on 'SPDIF (Digital Out via HP Dock) IDT High Def (ready)' and disable it.
Disabling this digital audio in the (audio playback devices) resolved my issue. Hope this helps others...

The answer is “yes”. Two events have happened both of which concerned the Time Capsule:
The telephone company, with which I have access to the Internet and I have my email account, installed a new modum. After the technician left I had to try and get the Time Capsule and WiFi working again which ended with my having to call Apple for technical assistance. The Apple technician walked me through a number of procedural steps which effectively re-set up the Time Capsule.
Access to the Internet failed and the telephone company reset the modum. I had to call Apple again. This time the technician did not reset the Time Capsule but walked me through a number of steps tha included renaming the “site” (not the Time Capsule).
Another piece of information that may be relevant is that the MacBook Pro uses the Time Capsule for backup. Everything appears to be in order. When I enter the Time Capsule for this laptop I have backups going back for a long time.
Also, I do a weekly backup of the two computers onto another external hard drive using the Time Machine software. So I have another backup of both computers.

Hi! I have an external hard drive on which I have transferred my iTunes library (just mine - not others). I have also a folder containing just films (some but not all of which are in iTunes too) Everything has been working just fine until yesterday I noticed that Time Machine was not including the external hard drive in back up as it wasn't formatted. So I have moved everything back to the Mac hard drive and and ready to format the external hard drive - but understand that if I do the contents cannot be opened from a windows laptop ... is that right? Is there are format I could choose that would allow Time Machine to back up and allow Windows to open as well (the idea being that I take the external hard drive with me on holidays etc!!) I have managed so far to format the drive (on windows) to exFAT file system - which apparently works with both Windows and Mac - but you're correct - it will not be included in time machine backup as I have checked the back up files and Samsung is not showing. Reckon I'm onto having to buy yet another portable hard drive just for windows - or of course buy myself a new mac book!! Can I ask you please - does the drive have to be clear of everything before I change the format - or can I change it with the files still in there? Also, got any quick ways duplicating the files onto another External Hard drive (for use on the windows laptop) At the moment the files are taking 2/3 hours + to copy over! Thank you!
