Which Speedlite for my Canon 600d I am new to Photography

Which Speedlite for my Canon 600d
I am new to Photography
I am choosing between
a) Bower SDF680C Digital Flash for Canon SLR Cameras, Guide Number 139
http://www.adorama.com/BOWSFD680C.html
or
b) Bower SFD926C Dedicated Digital Flash for Canon SLR Cameras, Guide Number 125
http://www.adorama.com/BOWSFD926C.html
I want a Wireless Speedlite,
btw how does these Speedlites do the Wireless Connection with the 600d if they can ?
Does both use Slave Function, does both have Wireless Channel Selection.
Does My camera the 600d have Wireless Channel Selection by Radio Signal I know my camera has Slave Function Pls Help pls

1) My Canon 600d has a Slave Function and it does Not have any Radio signal or Infrared Wireless Connection between an External Speedlite ?
Correct, though I'm not sure it's called a slave function?  The 600D can use it's flash to trigger speedlights that are off camera, and set in slave mode.  But it has no Radio or IR signal.
The IR is something that is on speedlights.  As mentioned above, it's really just red light.  But it's used for focus, not for triggering flashes.
2) is the E-TTL just like the Operating system or Firmware of the 600D Flash System ?
TTL is an automated flash function, and it will be a function on a speedlight, not a camera (though you're cameras flash does have eTTL).  It lets the flash/camera decide how much flash power it needs.  In a nutshell, it fires a flash before opening the shutter so it can measure how much light it needs, then fires a second time with the shutter open to expose the scene.  It all happens very fast, you can barely see it.
Flashes will either come in manual only, or offer TTL in addition to manual.  Manual is just that, you choose the power level, and it fires during your shot.
eTTL is Canon's version of TTL.
3) Does the 600d have a Wireless E-TTL or something like that ?
As mentioned above, the 600D can use its on-camera flash to trigger other flashes, and yes, it can do it in eTTL.
The down side to this is that the flashes have to be in the line of sight of the camera's flash (more or less).  [And it uses up your camera battery for the flash]  When you want to place flashes in modifiers or behind people, or screens or in a completely different room, it doesn't work so well.  So people use Radio Frequency transmitters to trigger the flashes.  It used to be an expensive thing to have, but now it can be done quite cheap, and quite reliable.
So the Only option I have for my 600d wireless connection to a Flash is
a) Slave Function.
b) I buy a Wireless Transmitter and receiver
Pretty much.  You could also get a long cord to get it off camera, but it's really not a great option.

  • Can I refill the cartridges for the canon mx300 without purchasing new ones

I have a Canon IP4000 and filling the ink cartridges is straight forward.
My question is can I refill the cartridges for a MX300 without the expense of purchasing new ones.
If I can what is the procedure once filled in getting the printer functioning again.
I realise that it would not be in the interest of some manufacturers but the new cost of cartridges costs more than a new printer. Should you continue to manufacture the IP4000 I would recommend this product, it is a very inexpensive printer to use and gives excellent service.  Richard

"On the other hand : the fact that OSX / iSync can't find available services on my SLVR over Bluetooth is clearly a problem caused by Apple...
...my SLVR complies with (all) Bluetooth-communications-standards, since it can sync with Windows PCs and swap files with other Bluetooth devices (non-Motorola GSMs for insatance) flawlessly...
You are totally wrong... the fact it works with Windows does not mean that it's not Motorola's fault. In facts, if you think correctly:
    - Mac OS X has no such problems with all other bluetooth devices/phones
Motorola only did check that his phone worked in Windows (if not, they wouldn't have released it). This means that Windows seems tolerant to whatever bug the Motorola phone has. This is quite typical... lots of other devices have hard bugs that were never discovered by their manufacturer because their only test bed is one peer: Windows, which has bugs too.
This does not mean that Apple can't do anything: Apple will have to understand what the bug is and why Windows does not trigger the bug then try to workaround it. Apple already does that kind of stuff in its system. This is a good short term policy (to make the user happy) but a pretty bad one long term as that means that Apple has to put lots of "hacks" throughout the system to "mimic" Windows bugs.
You should complain to Motorola not having a more robust testing process.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 and Canon 600d problems

    Hello,
Recently I've been having a few recourring problems when trying to edit footage I captured on my Canon 600D on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
The footage shot on the Canon is 1920x1080 at 24fps, when I create a setup preset for these settings in Premiere the clips appear to import absolutely fine. The setup Ive created is shown in the screenshot below.
The problems start when I place the clip on the sequence and render it, once the clip renders the playback in the program/timeline preview window goes all weird and doesn't play the clip properly. Shown in the screenshot below.
First of all I thought this might just be a playback error but when I try to export it as a video file it says error and closes down. This is extremely irratating so i wondered if anyone would be able to offer me a soloution. I have a feeling it may be my setup preset but if so would someone be able to tell me the correct way to set it up for a canon 600d camera because whenever I try a preset found within premiere it exports the video at 720 resolution and very low quality.
Thanks very much for whoever replies, I appreciate it very much
    Mike

Ahhh okay that sucks, is there anyway to convert the footage that I already have without drastically reducing the quality as I want my film to be the best quality that is possible?

  • Which Speedlite Flash will work with my Canon Rebel EOS T3 1100 D?

Hi, I am new to the digital age and over 55 years old.  My husband bought me a Canon Rebel EOS T3 1100 D in July.   (I fought the "technological" upgrade until my old Canon film camera quit on me.)  I've been taking pictures since 1966, so I'm not new to photographing, just to our technological advances.
I would so very much appreciate if anyone could help me with which Speedlite flashes will work with my specific Canon T3 Rebel 1100 D camera.
Thank you so much for your time.
    Solved!

I've just received my 430EX II that I purchased for use with my Rebel T2i. The main reason I purchased the Canon product was....in 60 years of using Canon products I've never had a failure or a bad experience. I've been using the 430EX ll for a few days and I'm quite happy with the results. Far, far better than the built in flash. It's on sale now with free Fed X shipping. That's hard to beat.
Best of luck with your new camera.

Which version of Lightroom do I need for my Canon T5i 's RAW files to be compatible?

Refer to link below for info with respect to supported camera models and which version of Lightroom / Adobe Camera Raw the support was introduced. For your info Adobe can only create supporting profiles for a camera model after it has been sold in the market.

  • Hi I have CS5 and a canon 600D. Photoshop won't convert the files

Hi I have CS5 and a canon 600D. When I shoot in RAW photoshop won't read my files unless I convert them through DNG converter. This is time consuming and takes up a lot of space and I was wondering if there is a shortcut to converting the files. Also I have just become a full time student studying photography. I would like to purchase a student package so that i can use CC which is the same programme a at university. Which is the best and cheapest way to do this? I know that we are being offered a package in November, but I need to upgrade sooner really.

    Hi Frankiestone,
I would advice you to purchase the Photography plan which consists of both Lightroom and Photoshop.
Please refer to below link for pricing
    https://creative.adobe.com/plans
When you have the latest version of the products you will have access to camera raw version 8.6 and you would be easily able to import the RAW files from Cannon 600D with converting them.
    Thanks

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ? In effect he is not available in my list of correction lens so my lightroom is up to date apparently :/
    Thanks in advance for answer.

There are two types of Lens profiles - raw and JPEG. It looks like you are trying to process a JPEG image and Adobe has only provided a raw lens profile for the 18-135mm IS STM lens.
    You have four options:
    1) Check for available lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. I checked and a JPEG lens profile is NOT available for the 18-135mm lens.
    2) Follow the procedure outlined by Steve Sprengel in this post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_5_lens_profile_not_applied_for_jp g_captures_only_for_raw_captures
More detailed instructions here for a Pentax lens example:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-processing-articles/176761-creating-adobe-lens-cor rection-profiles-jpgs-raw-ones.html
This allows using the available raw lens profile with JPEG images. To my knowledge Canon DSLR cameras do not apply distortion correction to JPEG images, so the raw profile should work well. You can check this by shooting raw+JPEG and comparing the two images inside LR
    3) Create you own lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. (A complicated process, but it can be done!).
    4) Start shooting in raw mode or raw + JPEG mode, which will allow you to extract the most benefit from LR's processing controls.

What do I need to process raw files in Photoshop CS5 for a Canon Rebel EOS t4i?

You would need ACR 7.x which is available in CS6.  Or as ertho said you can get the free DNG 7.3 converter and convert raw to a DNG.

  • Proper sequence settings for importing Canon Rebel T2i footage

Greetings, all. I searched the forum and didn't find this question answered elsewhere, so I thought I'd ask.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.2.1, and I'm trying to find the ideal sequence settings for the Canon Rebel T2i, which records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, with adjustable frame rate. I am running on Apple Mac OSX 10.8.2.
I've been editing with this footage for over a year now, and it's always been a struggle because I have to render all footage before I can even play it in Premiere. When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow.
I'd like to see if I'm doing this incorrectly; to know if I have a simple sequence setting that's incorrect. What sequence settings should I use for my imported footage to start out green and not require a lengty render for video that isn't even edited yet?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

    >When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow
I think this is written for CS5, but the concept should be the same

  • POWER SUPPLY FOR MY CANON

    Hi there everyone
I am looking forward to buy a power supply for my canon, do you know where I can find it or which one should I buy? Please recommend....thanks.

Hi bebefle_89! Every model of camera uses a different power supply, so we will need to know the exact model of your camera to be able to answer that question accurately, but for EOS cameras you can get them here for PowerShot cameras you can get them here.

  • Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

Thank you for the imput.  I don't know what you mean when you say LR doesn't use Adoble Camera Raw.  My LR2.7 is able to process raw files from my 20D.  I don't care if it does it with ACR or some other processing software.  The issue is whether whatever software is used by LR can be updated to deal with new camera raw files.  It is pretty annoying if it cannot be.  I would even pay a reasonable amount if that were necessary.
ACR is a plug-in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements which enables users to work on raw images from supported cameras. All of that technology that is in that plug-in is part of the Lightroom program, the plug-in is not used by Lightroom. ACR must be updated approximately 4 times each year in order to add support for new cameras and to make other changes in the plug-in. In order to get those changes in Lightroom, it is necessary to upgrade the entire Lightroom program. Interim releases are made available to Lightroom users who have purchased the program. For instance, if you purchased Lightroom 2, then versions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. are all available to you at no cost. But when Lightroom 3.0 is released or 4.0 is released, then it is necessary for you to purchase an upgrade in order to continue to get the updates.

  • Lightroom 3 does NOT support raw files for the  Canon Sureshot S95

Have just bought the new Canon Sureshot S95
after contacting Adobe support I am told Lightroom 3 does NOT support raw files for the
    Canon Sureshot S95.
Come on Adobe.....please provide an update asap.

    (1) Well Boss I did what you said and used Canon DPP to convert to TIFFs. Choices are 8-bit TIFF or 16-bit TIFF - I chose 16-bit because part (90% part) of the reason for wanting to work in RAW is to keep the bit depth of teh original. On my EOS 40D it is supposedly 14 bits, which gives great scope to play with the levels & curves without seeing poster effects. If I choose 16 bit TIFF then each S95 image becomes a 70MB file, parallel to my JPEG and RAW.  Hardly a satisfactory solution.
(I realise, however, that I don't actually know the bit depth of the S95 RAW file - anybody? ).
    (2) SUGGESTION-  even if you are adding S95 support to the next update (which I dearly hope), be kinder to those with new cameras in general and allow LR to import JPEGs if it cannot import the RAWs (overriding if necessary the 'ignore JPEG' preference setting).  I am sure users with that preference would still prefer a JPEG than no picture at all!
Since I discovered this compatibility problem, I switched the camera to record RAW+JPEG*. To my great irritation LR3 ignores the JPEGs even though it cannot load the RAWs.  So if I want to import from one supported camera (EOS40D) and one unsupported camera (S95) I have to keep going into preferences to switch on and off the 'ignore JPEG' function.
