Which Sun Fire x64 should I purchase to run Logisitcs and Accounting System

Hi there,
I have a project that required to develop and deploy in-house build Logistics Management System and Accounting System into one system.
Is there anyone out there could advise on following components that best suite to Sun Fire x64 Server?
Project nature: Logistics Management System + Accounting System.
1. Web Application: Java 6, Java JSF, Apache + Tomcat 6.
2. Database: Oracle 9i R2.
3. Concurrent users 300 hits via Internet DSL and Lease-Line.
4. Hosted at in-house Server room.
Initial recommendation on server spec.
1. OS: Open SuSE 10.x or SUN Solaris 10(with definite support Oracle 9i R2 - non cluster?)
2. AMD CPU?
3. Size of RAM?
4. One or two boxes(Does it required FC between two server connectivity)?
Appreciate your kind advise.
regards,
airqq

You should really contact a Sun salesperson (or reseller) about that. They can step you through the process of selecting an appropriately sized server.

  • Kindle or ibooks version of an ebook, which should i purchase for my ipad2 and iphone4s?

If there is a kindle version Using kindle app)  and an ibooks version of an ebook, which version should I purchase for my ipad2 and iphone 4s if I have the choice and why?

No, and due to ebooks tending to have digital rights management on them you will only be able to read a book in that store's app or e-reader. For Kindle books you will need to download them in the Kindle app on the iPad, and I assume for Nook that you also download them manually in the app - as far as I know the iCloud only works with the iBooks app. For Kindle :
Whispersync automatically synchronizes your bookmarks and your reading location among devices registered to the same Amazon.co.uk account and is enabled by default. When you open a Kindle book you are also reading on another device, you are given the choice to go to the furthest page read if you are further ahead on the other device

  • Which Event Classes i should use for finding good indexs and statistics for queries in SP.

    Dear all,
I am trying to use pro filer to create a trace,so that it can be used as workload in
"Database Engine Tuning Advisor" for optimization of one stored procedure.
Please tel me about the Event classes which i  should use in trace.
The stored proc contains three insert queries which insert data into a table variable,
Finally a select query is used on same table variable with one union of the same table variable, to generate a sequence for records based on certain condition of few columns.
There are three cases where i am using the above structure of the SP, so there are three SPS out of three , i will chose one based on their performance.
    1) There is only one table with three inserts which gets  into a table variable with a final sequence creation block.
    2) There are 15 tables with 45 inserts , which gets into a tabel variable with a final
    sequence creation block.
    3)
There are 3 tables with 9 inserts , which gets into a table variable with a final
    sequence creation block.
In all the above case number of record will be around 5 lacks.
Purpose is optimization of queries in SP
like which Event Classes i should use for finding good indexs and statistics for queries in SP.
    yours sincerely

You can use the "Tuning" template to capture the workload to a trace file that can be used by the DETA.  See
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190957(v=sql.105).aspx
If you are capturing the workload of a production server, I suggest you not do that directly from Profiler as that can impact server performance.  Instead, start/stop the Profiler Tuning template against a test server and then script the trace
definition (File-->Export-->Script Trace Definition).  You can then customize the script (e.g. file name) and run the script against the prod server to capture the workload to the specified file.  Stop and remove the trace after the workload
    is captured with sp_trace_setstatus:
DECLARE @TraceID int = <trace id returned by the trace create script>
    EXEC sp_trace_setstatus @TraceID, 0; --stop trace
    EXEC sp_trace_setstatus @TraceID, 2; --remove trace definition

  • Which IPAD 2 AIR should I purchase for my first tablet

Which IPAD AIR 2 should I buy for my first tablet ? 16,64, or 128? and what is the best option ?

You're welcome. If you want to stay active the iPad is the key. I bought my first iPad last year when I was 62. A year and a half later between learning the iPad then helping out on the Forum my mind is as sharp as ever, Sure beats cross-word puzzles. When you go to buy your iPad tell the saleshelp what you plan on storing on it, 64GB might not be enough. Have them set it up for you and ask if they could show you the gestures. Remember there are plenty of helpful people here ready to help so stop back anytime with questions.

  • When should I purchase a MacBook Air, and what upgrades are worth it?

My MacBook Pro (early 2011) is moving as slow as a dinosaur... we are hoping if I get a MacBook Air for school and we only use one account on the Pro (instead of leaving both logged on and switching back and forth), we can get by for a few years without the cost of a new Pro. (I am a grad student. Money problems make it almost tempting to even get a PC at this point.)
With a minor "refresh" rumored in the upcoming days for the MacBook Air, and the 12" Retina coming a few months down the road... and with my next school term starting in May-- when should I get a MacBook Air?
I will be getting the 11" since it is cheapest.
Also, when considering the question of extending the lifetime of the computer (hoping in 4 years it doesn't slow to a crawl like our Pro has), what is more important-- upgraded processor, or RAM?

While it may be that the hardware you have is responsible for the slow performance, it is also possible that third party software incompatibility is the cause.  If you run EtreCheck and post the results here, someone might be able to spot something.

  • Which apple iPad Air should I purchase to work with SIM card that will only be needed about 4 weeks per year?

Purchased apple ipad  air with wifi only want to switch to one that has SIM card.  Only needed for travel about 4weeks per year...understand you can swiitch SIM cards.  Which should I start with?

The biggest issue between the 1 and 2 is that all devices eventually age out of software updates. For example the iPad 1 maxed out at iOS 5.1.1, only the Touch 5 was eligible for iOS8 and I think only iPhones 4+ could get iOS8. So eventually, if you get a 1 you may face maxing out of the iOS updates before the two.
That said, even if your device maxes out it'll still run just fine as it is. You may just face issues with future apps....so say my iPad maxes out in December. In February a really cool game comes out and I want it... but wait, it's for the newer iOS and won't install on mine. If you're aware of the issue and accept the issue, there's no reason you can have a fully functioning older device.
And if the 1 is more stable than the 2, even better. I've been very lucky with my iPad 2 to have it be a very stable and dependable model while later models do seem to have had issues.

  • ?s about RAM, Adobe CS3, which Mac Book Pro should I purchase?

I have not yet purchased my MBP, but am curious about the performance of the Adobe CS3 on a 256 MBP. I am trashing my pc for a Mac and want to get the right one for my classes! Adobe CS3 made my computer completely shut down even when I upgraded the ram! It was horrible! I have seen some of yall have upgraded your MBP's to 3 or 4GB. Is this possible with the 256 MBP or do I need to purchase the 512 in order to be able to upgrade the RAM that high? If yall could help me out with this one, that would be awesome. Obviously, I'd rather spend less money and get the 256 and then order the extra RAM to install. Do you purchase the RAM from Apple and does anyone know how much they cost? I've never owned a MAC and haven't used one in probably 8 years! Thanks for your help!

I cant help you on the CS3 problem, but when I bought my MBP I asked about RAM and I'll pass on the same info to you: -
    1) MBP take a maxiumum of 4GB ram and comes with 2 * 1GB RAM sticks as standard.
    2) DONT BUY YOUR RAM FROM APPLE! I was warned about this, the main reason being the price tag! You can buy the same type of RAM direct from I think it's Crucial and save about £200ish. You'll need two * 2GB sticks.
The best bet is to go into an Apple store and have a look at the models on offer before making your choice.
    I hope this helps.

  • Purchase Order Document Type and Account Assignment

    Hi  ,
We have a requirement to control Account Assignment in Purchase Order Item line based on the Document type selected on the Purchase Order header.
Like if user selects Purchase Order document type "ZNB" (Customized created) , then he will only able to select "K" or Blank or "P" as account assignment and similary we want to limit other Account assignments based on the Purchase Document type.
How can we make this Control settings?
    Regards
    Shrey

    Hi,
You can't really limit the account assignment categories per document type, at least not directly.
You can limit the item categories that can be used for a document type via configuration:
Materials Management > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Define Document Types
Within this transaction you can define which item categories are valid for a specific document type.
You can then define which account assignment categories are valid for each item category
Materials Management > Purchasing > Account Assignment > Define Combination of Item Categories/Account Assignment Categories
    BUT
limiting the account assignment categories that are valid for an item category will affect ALL purchase order document types that this item category is valid for. And you can't create your own item categories as this is a SAP standard table that can NOT be altered.

    Monika

  • Up-gradation of Sun Fire 6800 to Sun Fire E6900 UltraSPARC IV+ Processors

We wanted to upgrade our exisiting two Sun Fire 6800 Servers to Sun FIre E6900 with Ultra SPARC IV+ processors boards and memory only. This, we want to do through Sun UAP uniboard promotion.
So we want to know the compatibility and additional requirement before going a head for this activity ....
Tech specs details mentioned below ....
Existing Sun FIre 6800 Servers Specs ...
    Processor : sparcv9 UltraSPARC-III+
    Model : Sun Fire 6800
    Processor Speed : 900 MHz
    RAM : 48 GB
    Processor Count : 24
Will be upgraded to Sun FIre E6900 ........
    Upgrade to E6900, 12 x 1.8Ghz US IV+ CPU, 96GB Memory.
I want to confirm below queries before placing order with Sun Micro sysytems...
    1) Is there requirement for Box change ( Chassis ) or Sun Microsystems will provide it free of cost with this promotional programme ?
    2) Is there any need to add more Power supply due to this up-gradation or additional PS will be a part of this kit ?
    3) Is there anything left out in our discussion or planning which needs to be added or upgraded to make the solution compatible ?
Please add your valuable inputs for this up-gradation . Quick response will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance ...

Considering the domain name in your email address...
This is far from the first SF6800 your company administers, that's been upgraded.
Having said that, you need to keep in mind that these forums are NOT a venue for techsupport from Sun. They are hosted so that the user community can have general conversations, swap stories, and more.
    So, as for your questions:
    (1) Contact Sun and ask them for an accurate answer ( and no, the outer chassis does not get swapped ).
    (2) Contact Sun and ask them for an accurate answer ( I seem to remember that you must buy whatever PSU's, system controllers, and whatever else may be necessary, in addition to the uniboards ).
    (3) I suggest you discuss this plan with your peers in other EDS sites that have already done this. This promotion is not anything new. It seems to be offered every few months or so, since the E6900's first arrived in 2004.
Expect to do a ton of firmware and OS upgrades so that the system can handle the US-IV+ architecture of the new hardware. That will need to be done before the new hardware is inserted to the chassis.

  • Sun Fire V490 x 2 servers with Oracle RAC facing Split brain problem

    Hi all,
I have Sun Fire V490 x 2 servers with Oracle RAC and they faced a Split brain problem. One of the node's database instance has gone down, The DBA claims it is due to network problem, but as such the networks are OK. We use the on board CE1 interface for Cluster interconnect and CE0 as the public interface.
Did anybody face this kind of a problem? Could this be a hardware/OS patch problem?
I had kept a continuous ping for 24 hours after this happened last time and the output shows no packet loss
    Many thanks in advance.
    Ushas Symon

In order to diagnose this properly, you'll need to provide too much detail and far too many log files for a generic discussion forum to handle.
Use your service contract and open a support case.
Because a cluster environment is involved you'll likely end up talking to the cluster support staff.
They can analyze hardware and software errors as well as review whether you configured the systems in a supportable fashion.
Be prepared to make a direct connection to each system and gather data using such as by using the Explorer tool. The technical support staff will tell you what they will actually need.

  • Should I buy a used G5 and which one?

I currently own a G4 (APG), 450MHz, with 1.5GBs of memory. I have never bought a used Mac, but cannot make the huge investment at this time for a new machine. I've actually been fine with this one, but I'm getting ready to make the time to do some upgrading (Adobe CS2 then CS3 soon afterward, and OS 10.4) to parallel upgrades I'll be making at my office (new Intel Mac on it's way). I'm guessing my home machine will start to crawl. Any advice in terms of the G5 models and buying a used Mac in general? Any models I should avoid?
    All advice greatly appreciated.

Yes, of course any Mac Pro would be better than a G5 (the only one I see is a $3300 Quad, by the way -- are we on the same site?), but the idea was to find a $1000 solution to tide me over until I can really invest in a new system. And since I'm coming frm a 450MHz G4, which again has been just fine for me (running CS1 and 10.3.9), I would assume that any G5 would be a big improvement and there do seem to be good options to look into. On the other hand, I've seen such a variety of responses to this idea that I'm still not sure which direction to go at this point. Clearly I'll need to do something soon, but I'm not a speed freak nor do I need the coolest system on the block. I don't play video games, and I won't be using this machine for video. I just want something that runs 10.4, CS2, and CS3 easily, and isn't going to wake the neighbors when the drives spin up or leak coolant all over the place.
That said, I've hit upon another possible solution: FastMac's Dual 1.4 GHz Upgrade for PowerMac G4 AGP. Anyone have opinions about this upgrade as an option? And thank you all for providing input. This is really stressing me out, but your opinions do help.

  • Sun Fire v440 - which OBP Patch to use?

    Hello,
    According to this page: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/Systems/SunFireV440/SunFireV440.html
There are several Flash PROM Patches to choose from:
    118319 OBP 4.17.2
    119240 OBP 4.16.6
    119245 OBP 4.18.10
    121685 OBP 4.22.x
The page does not really say which one I should use. Also, when I go to each patch page, it says "RELEASED" ....obviously not "OBSOLETED".
    My OBP version is:
    $ /usr/sbin/prtconf -V
    OBP 4.17.2 2005/07/21 12:29
Do I want the highest numbered patch? Why are multiple OBP patches listed as "current" with no direction on which one to install?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hello Phil,
maybe the following thread can give a clue

I think you have to review the readme of each of these patches and read which bugs are fixed and what features are added...
