Which Toshiba Processes Can I Stop Running on my Tecra?

I guess this is one I could try for myself but what "useless" Toshiba processes can I stop running?
I assume this isn't laptop specific even though I have an A4.
For starters as I have no docking station what is the point of the docking process running?
I am referring to unticking in msconfig and other similar software.
Basically is there a list like the windows process one where each process is listed with what exactly it does and what is dependant on it etc?

Hi Bill
All processes which are running in the background are Microsoft Windows applications and installing Toshiba programs, tools & utilities. I dont know the exactly name of the docking process but as far as I know if you remove the docking utility from the software list and reboot the unit so the background process should be disabled.
Check this link:
http://www.reger24.de/prozesse.html
There you will find a complete list of background processes which are possible.
Best regards

  • Satellite Pro A120 - What Toshiba processes can be excluded from start-up?

My old A120 has over 50 processes showing in Task Manager before I even open a browser or any other application.
This seems far too many for a machine with a 1.46 GB processor (and half a gig of RAM).
Many of them are Toshiba processes, and look worryingly as if they are associated with hardware operation.
Is there a list anywhere of Toshiba processes which can safely be turned off - and which advises how to do this?

    Hi
Every notebook has preinstalled different software and therefore different processes are running in the background of the OS.
There is no general answer what processes could be disabled.
Fact is that Toshiba notebook supports many different additional features which need the additional software.
If you dont want to use features like FN buttons, Toshiba control buttons, etc then you could disable the process responsible for this feature.
If you dont know exactly what a certain process do, then goggle simply for some details. There are many websites with different database which includes information about Windows background processes.
Then you could access the MSCONFIG and in the Startup tab you could disable some processes just for testing.
In worst case if something would not work you could enable it again.
    Cheers

  • Scheduled daily backups of DMM fail - Backup/Restore process stops running

Hi, I have been testing the scheduled backups within the DMM AAI and have found it's performance to be unreliable.
Specifically I am performing FTP backups to a remote network location.  Manual one-off backups complete successfully without any issues, and scheduled backups occur on the same day, however successive (reoccuring) daily backups don't happen and the Backup/Restore process seems to stop running. I have checked the backup logs but these don't provide any insight as to why the backup process stops running.
Has anyone else encountered this?  I am running DMM v5.2.0.25.
    Mike

I am having a similar problem.  Is there a method to restart the backup service without having to reboot the entire DMM Server?
Note that there is no method via the AAI menu system, and the Web Admin console services section is not clear as to whether it will reboot the entire server (which is NOT an easy thing for me to get away with here).
Restarting the 5.2.3 DMM Server (not JUST the service??)
    =========================
I have now learned (per a Cisco engineer), that the 'Scheduled backup services' in the screencap above, is normally in the 'stopped' status "by design", and that it will not show as started in this UI unless the DMM server is actually in a backup.
    ==============================================
    =========================
My backups now work correctly.  I think that the original problem was my NTP settings, which are now fixed.

  • How do I stop running programs.

I am using my Imac for recording purpose so I would like to stop the programs which are not needed.that may be running in the background. On my pc I go to the tak manager & find what is running. Is there a task manager type thing where I can go & stop running programs that use up CPU & cuase clicks & noises during recording.

You can use the Activity Monitor located at the Applications/Utilities.  You can also access this by simultaneous pressing on your keyboard the following keys: Command Option and Esc.  That would prompt you to a window called Force Quit.  There you would see  applications that are running.
Another option is like what is stated above, that you can see in your Dock what applications are running.  You would see a little blue shining circle/oval below the open applications.  Just left click for 1-2 sec the icon of the program you want to close and click on Quit.
Hope this would help you and good luck with your recording!

  • Which Parallel processing is faster?

There are various ways in which parallel processing can be implemented e.g.
    1. Call function STARTING NEW TASK which uses dialog work process.
    2. Using background RFC (trfc) .. call function IN BACKGROUND TASK AS SEPARATE UNIT
    3. Using submit via jobs
I want to know which technique is fastest and why?

Dialog might be slower only due to the GUI communication or difference in ABAP source code. In some standard SAP applications there is a different processing depending on SY-BATCH flag.
Technically, as it was already mentioned several time above, both work processes (dialog and batch) are pretty identical (with slight differences in memory allocation).
So please don't confuse the community.

  • How can I stop an uninstalled application/process from using 101% of my CPU?

A couple months ago I asked a question about my fans running loudly- which opened my eyes to the ability to force quit processes with the activity monitor. The culprit was software for an external hard drive that I was no longer using, so I uninstalled it. Problem is that my fans are running high again, almost constantly, and the process that seems to be the culprit is the same one from the software I've uninstalled. When I search my computer for any lingering files, none come up.  How can I stop an application I uninstalled from being a running process and overheating my computer?

Does the wdsmartware come with an uninstaller? Or specific uninstall instructions? Most software packages come with one or the other.

  • What can I do about this message -"Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working"

    Hi
My DVD Player used to work fine . . . and then I installed iTunes.
It then worked for a while, but only by using 'Run as Administrator'.
After a couple of weeks I started to get the message "Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working".
I have uninstalled iTunes - and uninstalled and then re-installed the DVD Player - but it still will not work!!
    Any solutions please?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ms Q_reeus

My solution to this is to remove Toshiba DVD player and install VLC player. You can get it for free.
It can read all video formats and you don't need some additional codecs.

  • Firefox locks up and runs plugin-container.exe -- I don't start it and can't stop it. What does it do and can I stop it?

On some irregular intervals, plugin-container.exe suddenly starts, and takes command. Task Manager suddenly goes to 100% CPU usage and I am blocked from continuing. i.e., dead in the water for a few minutes.
    Questions:
    What does it do?
    Why does it start?
    Can I remove it?
    Can I stop it?

Plugin_container.exe is an integral part of Firefox and acts like a kind of sandbox to isolate plugins which have crashed. See [[What is plugin-container]]
You mentioned in your system details that you're running Windows XP SP2. I'd recommend you install Service Pack 3 since Microsoft addressed a large number of issues in that service pack. You'll also need to have it installed to obtain current patches and Windows Silverlight which is similar to Flash. You can get SP3 from the Microsoft Windows Update site, link on your Start menu.

  • How can we stop the Collapse process in process chain.

    hi
    guys
How can we stop the Collapse process in process chain.if any one know's plz tell me
    your regards
    suresh

    Hi,
All the above post duly suggest a the methods we usually follow to cancel a collapse request i.e sm37 ---> Cancel without core, but these solution only applies if we are running collapse as a seperate variant in the process chain, in case its running as a part of change run the all above process will lead to the locking of the target.
In that case if you could "lock the target" even before the collapse ran will result in the "Stopping of the collapse on the target automatically" .
As far as figuring out the exat job of the collapse, you can directly get the job details in the "display message' , context menu option of the "Collapse variant" in the chain, clicking on the batch monitor and then clicking on the job to get its detail, then going to the specific "Application server " via SM51 and cacelling the job.
Do check wearther the target is unlocked or not in sm12 if not then choose the object in se03 and select "Unlock".
Hope it will serve yoour purpose
