Which Type of Transparency Image File

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried creating an image with it's background carefully traced and removed, then saving that edited image into a transparency, and then of course importing it into the FCE timeline superimposed over the main video track?
I've got Adobe Photoshop 7, and I was wondering what the edited (cropped), transparent image file should be saved to?
Thanx
Mike

Hi Thanx Matt
Ok then as I understand it, the completed (edited), image after cropping (removal of the background), must be saved as just a .psd adobe project file, and NOT exported as any other file type.
Now unless I'm missing something, you say that this psd will definitely open in FCE HD (just as a psd).
Correct?
And then this psd transparent file will allow video background to appear superimposed under/over it.
Correct?
And of course you can change the opacity of either the video, or the inserted psd according to the desired effect.
Now Matt, does one need to have Photo Shop installed in the same computer system that has FCE HD installed?
Or can I get a friend to create the transparent psd from her adobe program, then just transfer it into my system with FCE.
(Currently I don't have Photoshop installed in my system)
Thanx Matt

  • How do I find the image type of an image file

This was posted on the LabView forum in error yesterday,  Please excuse the dual post.
I am trying to open a JPEG image.  If I do not know the image type (8U, 16I, GrayscaleSingle, ... etc)... is there a way to find out that information?
If you open the file using IMAQ ReadFile...you have to supply a Create Image input to allocate space...the input specifies a type to read...but if the type of the stored data is not the type specified in the read file you either read the file as the type specified, or the file does not produce any values...(and no error is produced).
    Examples:
Store a JPEG as a Single Percision Floating point image.
Use a Creat File to specify that the file is read with the following types...with the following results
Type Specified        Type Read         Resulting image
    U8                               U8                     8 bit image appears
    16I                               16I
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hummer1,
There are two methods to accomplish this:
    1) IMAQ GetFileInfo, which has quite a few outputs involving the image details.
    2) Read JPEG File, which you can unbundle the image data output to get the image depth, or other attributes.
I would reccomend the IMAQ function, due to it being more detailed.
    Hope this helps

  • Colors shift when a PDF file contains transparent image

    Hello,
I tried to programatically set a soft mask to an image by using the Addobe PDF Library, in order to make part of the image transparent. The image color space is RGB. I used PDEImageSetSMask() funtcion for setting the mask. I also have a PDF file that was created in the same way but without the part of the code that sets the mask. Therefore this PDF contains the same image as not transparent.
When I open two files in Adobe Reader 9.2.0 the colors are not the same. The colors in the file which contains the transparent image are a bit darker. The colors are different not only inside the image box, but in all page area. I also tried to open the same file in GSView and there was no such problem.
Can I fix this by changing the Adobe reader preferences, or this is a problem in the code that genereates the PDF?
If this is not the correct forum to ask this question, please direct me to the correct forum
    Thanks

You need to set the transparency blending space of the page to RGB, since the default blending space is CMYK (hence the color shift).  You do this by adding a transparency group dictionary to the page's dictionary when creating the PDF.

  • Changing image file types

Is there any way to publish my sites through iWeb with JPEG image files instead of PNG's?
I know I could open them in Photoshop and "Save for Web..." as a jpeg, but I'm looking for a quicker way to produce these files from iWeb.

    Hi jrod318,
Are you talking about the template image files? If you are, jpgs will not work because they don't have the transparency that the png files have. This is why the templates are so nice with the layered transparent image files.
I know there is a better way to explain it, but that is the gist of it.

  • HELP - Export Transparent Image in CS3

There used to be a very useful function in CS2 under Help which was Export Transparent Image. What happened to that function in CS3 and how the hell do I export transparent image now in CS3?
Please help, this is quite urgent.
    Thanks.

I hear what you are saying Noel... But I came to these forums in good  faith  with a question about a tool I found useful that was no longer available. I  admit I let my frustration show in my first several postings about this because  in the other topic on this issue, one of  the staffers here even tried to say  the function did not even exist. That in  combination with the attitude that 'anyone that would use this function must have no experience' or should be  using Photoshop Elements did not strike me as either very helpful or polite. I  would never let one of my staff treat a customer who came to us seeking help to act this way. It is inexcusable and I saw from the other postings that I am not the  only one who feels this way.
Here is a selction of a few of the things she said to me... she seems to have  confused me with someone else?
"Dear same idiot who feels the need to use PM to continue an  ended/locked/deleted forum discussion,"
"There  is no point in continual messaging unless you feel it is some sort of  release for your mental condition. Your message is clear. I have no problem  comprehending your words. I simply disagree with your insane  beliefs. I  understand fully who used the function and why it  was removed. I was simply stating a fact and offering an alternative that  you seemed to ignore. I don't care if the function meant something more  to you. Nothing I can  do is going to bring it back or afford you any better  people skills.  You need to get over this... and get over me"
"I  just found the Google cache of the closed thread and realized that you   may not be the same idiot that contacted me earlier using a fresh forum   account. But that still does not make you any less of an idiot."
"The  question posed in the forum was "How do I export transparent images in   CS5 like I did in CS4?" The question was "viable" and answers were given  by  others and myself. Just because you do not like an answer does not  mean you  have to act like a child."
"The answer was not to beg Adobe to bring it back in a user to user  forum. If you want to communicate with Adobe, go to their feature  request form."
"If you were a designer for 30 years, you would have known how to make a  transparent file prior to the Help function that Adobe added for a  few versions. With that Help function gone, you should now have the  intelligence to craft an action to do the same thing with the press of a  button. It  is not really a challenge. If you need assistance, bring this topic  back  to the public forum. Your rude PMs are worthless to us both."
"I look forward to further discussion in  the public forum where you don't need to hide your personal problems in  PMs."
I find these kind of responses by a staff member of Adobe forums to abusive  in nature. Granted after getting this kind of rude response back to my  questions, I returned in like kind. I usually do not have these kinds of  interactions online, I find them childish and a waste of time. They do nothing  for the greater good of the forums and help no one. but I don't take kindly to  being treated with disrespect.
I hope this does not exemplify the tenor of communication here on Adobe's  forums. If so... it would be a shame, because Adobe has a great reputation in  our community. It would be a shame to let a few individuals tarnish it.
I for one would prefer that the person is question has no further  communication with me. I think that would be best for all concerned. Thank  You.

  • Can I Use Time Machine To Back Up a FAT32 Disk Containing Image Files?

New iMac User Here.  I just bought a brand new but mid-2010 27" i7 iMac.  Although I've used recent MacBooks when traveling I've got no experience with Time Machine or other similar third party back up software.
I moved to the iMac from a desktop PC running Windows XP Pro SP3.  I use the computer(s) mainly for photo image storage and processing.  My workflow is based upon Adobe Lightroom (now v3.4.1) and I plan to stick with it.  In the PC I had three internal hard drives, 2 of which were dedicated to image files.  They were formatted as Windows NTFS.  In preparation for the switch I formatted an external drive as FAT32 and copied all the image files to it.  Now with the iMac I have Lightroom installed on its internal hard drive but keep the image files on the external hard drive and access them as needed.  So far, so good.
The problem arose when I tried to set up Time Machine to back up both the internal hard drive and the external external drive.  It will back up the former but not the latter.  It tells me it does not interact with FAT32 disks.
Any thoughts, explanations and/or solutions for establishing a simple, single back up routine for both internal and external drives will be most appreciated.

Thanks very much for the quick response.  You confirm my intial suspicion, but your suggestion relies on my memory to accomplish on a regular basis (not the best of solutions) and further would be an extended disk run every night because it would not just be backing up new additions but the whole large disk, right?

  • How can I change the default "file type" in the open file dialog when using Firefox on certain web pages?

I work for a bankruptcy attorney. We use the Court's file upload to file our documents. When I am on the Court's site and I have to pick a file to upload, the "open file" dialog box pops up. In Firefox, the default "file type" is always "image" files. I need it to be "all files". How can I change this setting?

    Two observations.
First — "Tools-> ...." is specific to Acrobat X and XI. It did not exist prior to Acrobat X.
Second — Acrobat 9 Pro / Standard (nor earlier release) does not support viewing a PDF page containing a scanned image and performing a right-click  ... Save Image As.
The context menu provided by Acrobat 9 Pro with a right-click on a scanned image is:

  • Accesing image files in java beans

    hi all
I am developing an application which needs to access images files put in image folder in java bean file.
I tried a lot by using different methods and failed always, except in case of absolute path which I dont want to use.
My directory structure is as below
    /Web-apps
    /MyApp
    index.html
    myjsp.jsp
    /Images
    img1.png
    /WEB-INF
    /classes
    /beans
    GraphBean.java
In GraphBean.java I have the code
             ImageIcon imageIcon = null;
imageIcon = new ImageIcon("../image/img1.PNG");Cureently the path is worng and the image cant be displayed.
I want to know what path I should give to get the image img1.png.
    Thanks in advance
    Aniket

The disk file system knows nothing about the application which is asking for the file. You should always use absolute file system paths. In this case you can use ServletContext#getRealPath() to convert a relative web URL to an absolute filesystem path. Then use this in ImageIcon.

  • Can't get PS to save a image file...

no matter of which type, in a different file location without PS crashing. Using CC on a Mac using Yosemite 10.10. Not had problem before  up until yesterday.

Run a permissions repair using Disk Utility.
Then try resetting Prefs in Photoshop. Hold down cmd-opt-shift, start Photoshop and you see a dialog offering to delete the settings file. Answer "Yes" and see if that takes care of it.

  • Adobe X Custom Stamps - Why reversing transparent image?

Have Adobe X 10.1.1. To prepare, I (1) Scan a signature to .tif; (2) open file in Paint.net; (3) crop down to have only signature; (4) save file at 600 dpi; (5) use magic wand to make transparent.  Then, I (1) Paste file into a Microsoft product (Word 2007), and transparency holds. If I copy that transparent image file from Word 2007 into Clipboard ... and then, Paste Clipboard Image as Stamp Tool -- Transparency Holds. However, when I Create a Custom Stamp through Adobe Comment process, navigate to that transparent image, the image reverses the transparent area to black.
What is happening here? See random postings about .png not supported. Have had this happen with .png, with .gif, with .tif, and with .jpg (yes, I know .jpg doesn't support transparency).  What gives? Anybody?

Me again. I want to expound a little bit. I currently use a .gif image style to insert scanned signatures into .pdf files. We have Assistants who insert many differening people's scanned signatures into Word documents, Excel documents, and Adobe PDFs. The .gif files were not scaled to size, nor were they transparent. Installed Paint.net to reset these scanned signatures to accurate scale and to being transparent. Was hoping to change from .gif to .png, as from my reeading, the .png file is clearer.  My multi-functional devise scans to .tif or to .jpg ... but not to .gif or to .png.  Life is fun, isnt' it.

  • Image file type and settings

  • How to see all image file types when saving images without selecting "all files"

Hallo, and thank you fom reading.
I am a person who saves a lot of images online in different folders with different names like G - 456 or F - 35.
I have been using firefox 10.0.2 for a long time because of a bug (I guess) that made it easier to save images.
When I saved an image it would always show me all the image files in any folder I wanted to save it, and that way making it easier for me to save files with the right names.
Now with the newer firefox (currently 19.0) whenever I try to save a JPEG I only see the JPEG files in the folder and only way to see the others is by selecting "save as type" all files, but with this I also see all the files that are not images.
This used to save me a lot of trouble and a bit of time but I dont see anything in the options menu that can help me. Is there a way to recreate this function?
    Thank you for your time.

I suspect this is a Windows problem. I am surmising the FilePicker uses the Operating System or Desktop facilities. Does Windows 7 offer any other file categories like ''images'' ?
I do not normally use Windows 7, but may the option depend upon the directory being an indexed one, I ask after finding this thread ''Bring File types tab back'' [http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/819]
This question is a duplicate of [/questions/951764]
Normally I would lock the duplicate question, but in this instance I will leave it open as it is unanswered and someone may give a better reply.

It sounds like your file associations are messed up and Reader is trying to open your .jpg files. Is this correct?
If so, you just need to change the associations to choose what application opens them. Here's how: Change File Associations in Mac OS X

  • White box around image in my transparent .swf file

I created a .swf file for a header of a website using a logo that tweens in.  I tested the .swf with the transparent properties and it works but the logo I imported from photoshop has a white box around it, how can I remove this?  Do I need to import a transparent .png file instead of a .jpg?
    Thanks!

.png's are lossless vector graphics, so it's probably best bet if your going to do other things with the logo. .jpg's are not fond of resizing. You can also break the image apart and use the lasso tool and magic wand the background away.
