  • Which version of RH to use?

Hi, I am in a new job where there is currently no online
help. I am going to create RH help, and it needs to be printable to
MS Word. My only RH experience to this point is creating Robohelp
    HTML projects that weren't single-sourced.
    Other info:
    1) Our printed docs are written using Word, not Frame.
    2) Our company product is a set of web-based applications
that users access via secure internet connection. (They do
not install our app s/w on their own pcs.)
Given all this, can anyone suggest which version of RH to
use? Can I still use the one I'm familiar with (RH HTML)? Or should
I switch to WebHelp or RH for Word?
I don't know if the fact that we're trying to single source,
re-using information for both online help and printed manuals,
makes a difference in RH "flavor" selection.
    Thanks very much.
    Lori

Hi Lori and welcome to our community. It sounds like you are
confusing the RH version with the flavour of output. Check out Rick
    Stone's
    tutorial
on this very topic. In order to answer your query it is necessary
to know how your users are accessing the help. As your application
is web based, it may be safe to assume the help is also web based.
In this case Webhelp is your likely output format. Compiled HTML
(CHM) files are not designed to run on websites and Microsoft have
added security patches that create further problems. You can also
use the single sourcing capability to produce a Word document in
the same way as you can with CHM files. Hope this helps

  • In which condition we need to use Rule for substitution/validation

    Hi Gurus,
I want to know in which condition I need to use rule instead of directly putting these elements in prerequisite? for example:
    Case1
         Rule:TTYPEARAPO--- BSEG-MATNR <> '' AND BSEG-WERKS <> '' AND BSEG-XBILK <> 'X'
         Prerequisite:TYPEARAPO
    Case2:
         Prerequisite:BSEG-MATNR <> '' AND BSEG-WERKS <> '' AND BSEG-XBILK <> 'X'
My question is the difference between case1 and case2?  Thanks.

    Wei Gu,
In the example you have given, there is no difference between these two cases.
However, imagine that you have to use this same condition in multiple steps / prerequisites / substitutions. In that case, it will be better design to create a 'rule' and then use it at all the places.
It makes future changes and/or maintenance more manageable.

  • Help with which version I need with PS CS4

Hello, I have PS CS4 Extended and have never used Illustrator before but am wanting to learn more about vector graphics.  I am confused about which version of Illustrator to try?  Is there a difference in which version of Illustrator since I have PS CS4 Extended?  All I really want to do is be able to open and work with EPS and AI files so I dont need anything wild!  Thanks, after looking for so long they all look alike!  Amanda

    Amanda,
Once Adobe releases a new version of a product, it ceases to sell the previous versions. So Illustrator 14 (which is the version included in CS4) is the only one available from Adobe.

  • What software version is needed to use icloud on imac?

I want to use icloud to share info between my imac and the new ipad. I know I need to update my software...I currently have MacOSX 10.5.8 so I'm wondering what version I need to update to in order to use icloud on my imac. I can't update to Mountain Lion directly, if at all, but I know there must be a version in between that will support icloud.

Glad you are asking before jumping.  Too many "OMG!  Nothing works anymore!"  threads.
Start by looking at applications that do not work under Lion: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Make a very good clone of your internal drive (CarbonCopyClone, $40 download) on an external drive.
Got to macsales.com or crucial.com to max the RAM (does not hurt to even for SL).  macsales and ifixit.com have instructions to change RAM.
You can always load Lion on an external drive and see how it works (not speed, obviously, as external drives are slower) as far as compatibility with your current software and how much adaptation is required to get fully up to speed with it.

  • Which version of Workshop to use with WebLogic Server 10.0 for 64-bit Linux

I've downloaded and installed the 64-bit version of WebLogic Server for Linux. It is running on a 64-bit Xeon RHEL 5 machine with 64-bit Sun JVM.
During the install, I selected WebLogic Server and Weblogic Workshop but it appears that Workshop was not installed. Apparently, only the Runtime for Workshop was installed. I'm not really sure what good that does for me.
We need to use the Workshop IDE to develop apps. Is there a 10.0 version of Workshop for 64-bit Linux?

    Hi Anup,
Maybe you should be a bit more specific about what you want to do. Coherence is just Java and has been supported WebLogic for years in the same way most other third-party Java libraries and APIs are. I first started using Coherence about four or five years ago with WebLogic 8.

  • Which version of Firefox will use the least resources?

I have an older pc, with 600Mhz processor, 130MB memory, and running win2000 sp4
I want the version of Firefox that uses the least processor and memory resources, but is stable and functional with most websites.

Based upon my experience with a similar (550MHz) processor and 768MB of RAM on W2K SP4, Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last version that works efficiently on an old PC like that; but many websites are not allowing that old version access any more. IMO, any 3.0+ version is going to be slow.
Try using K-Meleon - same source code as Firefox, and it is made specifically for Windows operating systems.

  • Porting from JavaFX Preview to JavaFX 1.0

Does somebody know if there is a document that summarizes all the differences between the JavaFX Preview release and the JavaFX 1.0 ?
With tips on how to port from the preview to 1.0 ?
    thanks
    Bernard

    HI,
Stephen Chin has posted on the OpenJFX mailing list a link to a document he made : http://steveonjava.wordpress.com/2008/12/07/migrating-from-the-javafx-preview-release/
    A good start. Thanks Steve.
To the JavaFX team : don't forget in your future documents to tell us how to deal with features and properties that are no longer available.
A short and incomplete list :
    - attribute "toggle" in TimeLine
    - Dialogs
    - window related attribute such as "alwaysOnTop"

  • Which version of Safari to use on Software Update Server?

I have 10.6.7 Server running ASUS.
I'm trying to serve Safari 5.0.5 to clients yet the default is Safari 4.1.3 so the clients aren't getting the update.
When I click on the "Choose Version..." button, I get:
Safari 4.1.3 - which would be nice to have just in case a client needs it maybe?
    Safari 5.0.5 - 37.5 MB - Post Date: 4/14/11
    Safari 5.0.5 - 47.1 MB - Post Date: 4/14/11
How do I know which Safari 5.0.5 to use and why doesn't ASUS just pick the right one when clients connect?
Can I enable all 3 somehow that I'm missing?
I tried searching here yet the 3 items that returned for my search were never pertinent, hence the question being asked.
    Thanks for any assistance.

I just spoke with Apple Enterprise Support since you got me curious as to why there were 2 versions with the same number. Apparently the 47.1MB one was a small update and they didn't up the version number. They couldn't tell me what the update was, but the 47.1MB is the most current.
Not sure why yours keeps reverting back to 4.1.3 though. Have you tried deleting the update and re-downloading it?

  • [Solved] How to specify which version of Java to use?

I have OpenJDK 7 as my default, but I also am trying to use Oracle's Java 7 for a specific program. I have installed jdk7-compat as suggested by the arch wiki, but I am unsure how to use it specifically.
    java -version outputs:
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.0) (Arch Linux build 7.u60_2.5.0-2-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.60-b09, mixed mode)
so OpenJDK is  still the default, which is good. At the same time, how do I use Oracle's Java for a specific program?
Last edited by TheGuyWithTheFace (2014-07-01 16:50:01)

You have to create a bash script to execute that program, where you define your Java variables. For example, let's supposed your oracle Java is installed at /opt/java_1.6.14/ folder
    #!/bin/bash
    export JAVA_HOME=/opt/java_1.6.14/
    export PATH=/opt/java_1.6.14/bin:$PATH
    <your command>

  • How to know which version of SQLite is used by the different AIR-Versions?

For AIR 1.0 and 2.0 this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2577582#2577582 has the infos, but it is not clear where they come from.
How could one find out about the SQLite-versions in 2.5 and 2.6?
(not even google or any doc that I read about AIR and SQLite mention this)
thx in adance for any hint or answer,
    karfau

    Thanks for this info.
Maybe the current version of things like webkit and sqlite could be attached to some readme-like-file in the releases in the future.
Since u answered I would like to use the chance to ask another question:
When reading the SQLite-Docs there are some features, that state:
"available when compiled with the compiler option SQLITE_XYZ"
It would be intresting to know with which compiler options (a list is here: http://www.sqlite.org/compile.html )
the AIR-version has been compiled.(Especially those, that can not be guessed by reading the docs )
Is there any way to find out?

  • Selecting which version of Acrobat to use when opening a pdf

I have a user who has Acrobat 5, 6, & 7 installed on his 10.3 system (don't ask me why - he just does).
If you do a GetInfo on a .pdf document, Acrobat 5 is listed as the default (which is what he wants).
However, if he uses Safari and clicks on a link to a .pdf document, it opens the document (in Safari) using Acrobat 7. He wants it to open the document external to Safari using Acrobat 5.
How can he set this (there doesn't seem to be a setting to control it).?

I did see another thread on how to disable the plugin:
Trash the file /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin and restart Safari.
This did exactly what I was looking for.

  • 800 x 600 screen - which version of iPhoto to use?

Hi. I'm setting up an old 2000-era iBook (FireWire) 366 MHz model. It's got 576 MB of RAM, and I've got it running OS X 10.4.11. I want to set it up with iPhoto. Its screen has a maximum resolution of 800 x 600.
I looked at the requirements for iLife '05, and it specifies a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306338
I take it this minimum requirement applies to iPhoto, if I try to install it by itself, without installing the rest of iLife?
I have iLife '05 on a old Mac OS installer disc. I've got iPhoto 4 kicking around as well. Which one I should I try to install on this beast? Thanks.

I ended up installing version 2 .... and it gives me a warning when starting up ... "Your screen resolution is not optimal for iPhoto." When it starts up, the window is 'maximized' in size ... when I try to resize it to smaller, the width immediately snaps to being wider than the screen. Zooming restores the size to 'maximal.' Seems to work just fine; all controls are accessible.
I'm tempted to try and find iPhoto 4, and install that one ... it's a closer match to this machine in terms of system requirements, and is presumably has better features and camera compatibility. I might have it here somewhere...
