Which version of Photoshop will run satisfactorily on my system?

I do not have Photoshop at present but am considering buying it. I use Apple Mac on Snow Leopard. Which versions of PS will run satisfactorily on my system?

Well, I would consider this a non-question. Officially you can only ever buy the latest current version, which is CS5.5, and it's the only one Adobe officially supports. That has always been their policy. The rest really doesn't matter. You could try and get a used copy of CS4 or such from somewhere, but since you will have to fill out a license transfer paper and really do not know about the source of the software, you may get yourself into a lot of trouble for nothing. And in light of the recently announced change in Adobe's upgrade policies it won't do you any good, eitehr. You'll may never be able to upgrade it and have to buy a new full version one day. So do the only sane thing: Download the trial as Noel suggested, then buy from Adobe or an authorised reseller or get onto the subscription program.

    Lightroom 3.
Neither Lightroom 4 nor 5 will run on XP.
However, Adobe stopped selling version 3 a couple of years ago.

  • Which version of InDesign will run on Vista as a free trial?

My computer is windows Vista and O can't download the free trial of indesign to edit my documents. Is there another software I could use to edit.

    Moved to InDesign General Discussions.
You can download an older version (CS6 out to run on Vista) fro one of the links at the bottom of this page: Download and Installation Help
This will only work if the files were saved in CS6 or earlier ( and if earlier, it would be best to continue editing in the earlier version).

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • Which version of Photoshop Elements is best for for my old Mac G4 iBook?

Which version of Photoshop Elements would work on my trusty old Apple Mac iBook G4 14-inch laptop?
The newest Mac version of this application, Photoshop Elements 6, requires 64 MB of VRAM but my G4 only has 32 MB. (regarding other system requirements, my G4 has 768 MB of memory and a 1.2 Ghz processor, and runs Mac OS 10.4.11.)
My plan is to go to Ebay and buy some older version of Photoshop Elements but I wanted some direction as to which older version would be best.
    Thanks.

I have the same issue. My girlfriend bought Photoshop Elements 6, but her iBook G4, which is maxed out on conventional RAM, only has 32MB of video. She bought PE 6 as the Apple Store guy told her it would work on a iBook G4. He clearly did not realizing there were some  iBook G4's made with 32MB and some with 64MB of video RAM. But before we break the shrink wrap on the box, which would make it unreturnable, it would be nice to know if anyone has gotten PE 6 to run on a  iBook G4 with only 32MB of RAM. I'm more concerned with whether it works, than whether it is optimal. So, does anyone know if PE 6 will run on a iBook G4 with 32MB of video RAM?

  • When opening a Photoshop file with Bridge, how can I control which version of Photoshop the file wil

When opening a Photoshop file fthrough Bridge, how can I control which version of Photoshop the file will open in?
I store my PSD files adjacent to the original RAW file from which it was derived.
If I open the file folder and double click on that PSD file, it opens in CS6. But,if I use Bridge (CS6) to navigate to and open the same file, it first opens Photoshop CS5 and then opens that PSD file in CS5.
How can I control which Photoshop will open a file I select when opening it through Bridge?.

Interesting, but it doesn't give a clue what I'm supposed to do. No Photoshop ducuments listed.
Look at the PSD file on the location Curt provided and search for Photoshop Document. Next to it ideally should show Adobe Photoshop CS6 if you have Bridge CS6 open. Click on it to provide the fly out menu and choose the correct Photoshop from the list.
But probably something went wrong with your install. By default Bridge chooses the latest version of PS to open its file in.
Maybe a reset of the preferences might also help you. Can you provide more details about OS version etc.
And do you have a good reason for keeping your Raw and finished files in the same location. Personally I keep them apart and use a proper file name convention (yyyymmdd and details) so I can easily search for the DNG files in my archive if I needed them but I don't make mistakes in opening the wrong one

  • Which versions of photoshop can convert rgb to cmyk?

Hi all, I'm needing to convert high quality graphics from rgb to cmyk for publication and I'm trying to figure out which version of photoshop I should get for the job. I know that photoshop elements does not have the rgb to cmyk function, but am unsure otherwise. In particular, I'm looking at creative suite 5 as an option. Will that allow me to do this? Thanks for the help

You actually needed to have version 2.0 in order to have CMYK function. The year was 1991.

    That's what I said.
It works, but Adobe doesn't list anything newer than Leopard as a requirement, and they don't specify it as a "minimum", but I have CS3 on my Snow Leopard and Lion machines. The Lion has CS4 as well, and they run quite well independently of each other.

  • What version of imovie will run on Lion and where can I get it?

What version of imovie will run on Lion and where can I get it?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

I think you mean Photoshop CS2.  Photoshop 2 is from around 1992.  The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
