  • 64-bit version of Quicktime for Windows

I'm running 64-bit version of Windows 7 via bootcamp.  I'm running 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2010.  I have the latest version of Quicktime installed 7.7.3 something.  I can play the file on the desktop no problem, but when I try to insert the file into Powerpoint or play a file that I inserted previously into Powerpoint on a different system, it says either Quicktime unavailable or you need a 64-bit version of Quicktime in order to insert the file.
So, exactly where is a 64-bit version of Quicktime for Windows because apparently the one on the Apple website for Windows is not 64-bit.  Everyone keeps saying download the 64-bit version of Quicktime.  Great, tell me where it is.  There is no option for 64-bit on the website.  It doesn't even say it is 64-bit.  It just says its compatible with Windows 7.  Powerpoint 2010 64-bit MUST have a 64-bit version of Quicktime in order to insert or play any Quicktime file.  The OS doesn't give a rats @ss one way or the other.
The file I previously inserted was playing on a system that apparently had a 32-bit version of Powerpoint installed.  That machine defaults to VLC player on the desktop.  It has no issues with the file.  It's the Quicktime Player mismatch on my machine that is giving me grief.  If I knew Office was going to be a PITA if I installed the 64-bit version I would have stuck with the 32-bit version.
Ideas?  Where is the 64-bit version?  How do you tell it is 64-bit?  How do you force the installer to make sure it ONLY installs a 64-bit version of it?

If Microsoft merely off their own decided that only a 64-bit version of QuickTime was going to be supported by them and did not both checking such a beast existed then this is perfectly believable behavior on the part of Microsoft and they should roast in **** for it.
If Apple led Microsoft to believe that a 64-bit version of QuickTime was going to be released like a 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows has been released but then backed out then this is equally believeable behaviour on the part of Apple and then equally the guilty parties at Apple should roast in ****.
It should be noted that the 64-bit version of iTunes is able to play videos via the 32-bit version of QuickTime. This suggests Microsoft programmers are weak with the force. This would tend to support my theory that Microsoft despite being the biggest software company in the world are better at making hardware than software.
Moving on to trying to be more constructive…
Clearly as things stand using the existing and only official version of QuickTime for Windows which is 32-bit only is not going to work in 64-bit Office. It might therefore be worth looking at trying the following.
Uninstall completely Apple's 32-bit QuickTime for Windows (if installed currently)
Install QuickTime Alternative - see http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm
I have no idea if QuickTime Alternative is 64-bit, I have no idea if it will work in 64-bit Office even if it is 64-bit. However it does work in Internet Explorer for Windows, it is free and therefore will cost you nothing to try. If it does not work you can then always uninstall it.
As another even more abtruse solution, you could try loading your PowerPoint file in to the free iWorks i.e. KeyNote via a free iCloud account. It will allow importing PowerPoint files and will even work in Internet Explorer.

  • I cannot see the Vidoe displayed on the screen, only hear the sound.  I am missing a component? Compressor, etc. I just downloaded the latest version of Quicktime for Microsoft, please help.

I am not able to view my video taken with a memory card only the sound?  I am missing a component? Compressor, etc. I just downloaded the latest version of Quicktime for Microsoft, please help
I can see it on Windows Media? Need help on this.

It says SEDG 720X480 2:1 Mono.  Video came from Sd memory card taken with a Samsung Video Camera.
Strangely enough, as a FourCC, SEDG is defined as "MPEG-4 hardware and software codec used in Samsung digital video products." Not a Windows or Samsung camcorder user but THIS WEB PAGE may be of some assistance.
Also I will need to view a CD recorded by the same camera (DVD-RW) file extensions are VIDEO_RM.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB,  SAMSUNG.IFO  So far these files don't open even with Windows Media.
I don't know what to do to be able to open up these files save them on my Hard drive and then be able to upload them to YouTube.  Any Ideas?
IFO files tell how the video content is segmented and where the video data is located. BUP files contain back-up IFO information. VOB files contain actual multipled audio/video data. A DVD formatted to play in a commercial DVD player normally contains a series of files named "VTS##_#.VOB" where ## refers to the "title" series and "_#" (where # is not a zero) refers to the order in which the video title file data is played.
Again, I am neither a Windows user nor an athority on Samsung VIDEO_RM folder structures. However, if your disc contains both a VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS folder, then I would normally assume the VIDEO_RM folder is present for legacy purposes and/or to provide information about the refording device while the VIDEO_TS folder actually contains the video object (VOB) file data. In any case, as I am not familiar with what software is available for muxed MPEG-2/AC3 editing/conversion on a Windows platform, I would try viewing the VOB files in an application like MPEG Streamclip (free). If you can play the Audio and video content (be sure to read the MPEG Streamclip requirements regarding codec installation), then you can edit (merge and/or trim) the raw data and convert it to a format compatible for YouTube uploading. (I.e., MPEG Streamclip is commonly used on the Mac for this type of work flow and the app is also available for Windows use.)

  • I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install them

I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install for free?  I see that I could go to the apple store and purchase them again but I belibve that since I had already purchased them; I would get a free copy for my Imac.  Do I got something confused here?  Please help.

Whoever told you that was misinformed or lying. Those applications are sold separately for the iOS platform and the Mac platform.
Go to the Mac App Store to purchase Pages and Numbers for your Mac. They're $20 each. If you are running an older version of Mac OS X that can't use the Mac App Store, you can purchase install media from Apple.

  • Which version of Quicktime is FCP using?

I have QT7 Pro 7.6.6 and QT 10 on my Snow Leopard.  I'm trying to update the QT 7.6.6 to 7.7.7, but the installer won't let me, saying QT 10 is already installed.  I can't remember how I was able to install QT7 orginally.
I don't have my Snow Leopard disk with me to do a re-install from the disk.
I'm having some stuttering problems, playing QT movies with QT, and even in FCP (I'm currently editing a project that is HDV & XDCam).
I've never had stuttering problems before on this particular laptop.  Or my previous one.  Both MacBook Pro's.
Which version of QT does Final Cut Studio use?
is there any way to update my QT 7 to the latest version ... which might hopefully ameliorate my stuttering issue?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi Meg The Dog,
The software updates don't register any updates, when I run it.  But the Quicktime on the computer is 7.6, and on the Apple site there is a 7.7. for Snow Leopard.  So the updater says I'm up to date, and the Apple site has a more recent update.  I'm not sure how to read that.  It's just that a missing update might make sense, given both Quicktimes are still working, the only issue the lagging or stuttering.
I've not had trouble before with HDV or XDCam.  At the moment I'm running them on their own native timelines.  I'll put them both on the ProRes timeline when I have to marry the sequences and send-to-Color.  In the meanwhile the stuttering is a bit of an issue.  I also want to run to a second monitor to screen scenes for those involved; but I have to reduce the resolution on the external monitor (at this point not an Apple) to not have stuttering.  I'm going to try out an Apple Cinema monitor shortly, to see if there is any difference.
I've edited entire films, and using a second monitor, with this laptop, without any particularly noticeable stuttering of the image.  I've trashed the preferences on both QT's.  I've DiskWarrior'd the OSx hard drive.  But am still having this issue.  Jagged pans, jagged tracking ...
Mmmm.  I just had an idea.  I used an older laptop to do the DiskWarrior on this newer one.  I'm going to go plug in the older laptop and see if I get the stuttering from it!  Will report back...

  • Which version of Java for SAP NetWeaver 7.02 in Windows Server 2008

    Hi ,
I want to install SAP NetWeaver 7.02 (not SP6) in Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, but I don't know which version of Java I should install first, I have downloaded the following four types of Java:
    j2eesdk-1_4_02_2005Q1
    j2sdk-1_4_2_09_windows_i586
    j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p
    j2sdk-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p
But, I don't know which type I should choose to install first.
        Thanks for help!

    Hi Cathal,
        Thanks for your help!
But the document of SAP installation says:
If you start sapinst the first time, you will be logged off your operating system and afterwards prompted for the installation directory of JRE 1.4.latest or 1.5.0_22 (tested).
Do not use 1.6.x! The installation will start, but not finish.
JRE 1.4.latest or 1.5.0_22 (tested): it means I should install j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p, is it right?

  • Which version of OCCI for Oracle XE 10.2?

    Hi,
I have Oracle XE, Linux version 10.2.0.1 installed. I want to connect my C++ application running on the same machine as the database.
I've seen lots of dire warnings about the importance of making sure that the right versions are installed, but after trawling through the (frankly confusing) documentation I can't for the life of me work out which version of the OCCI I'm supposed to use to connect to this version of the database. Can somebody please tell me?
Also, as I want to run this application on the same machine as the database, can I use some of the libraries that are installed with Oracle 10g, rather than having to install them separately?
    Thanks,
    L.

    Hi,
The key parts where the version is truly important when using OCCI are:
    - the compiler (and runtime libraries)
    - the OCCI libraries
    - the Oracle Client version
Under Linux the OCCI version 10.2 libraries are compatible with gcc (g++) 3.4.3 through 4.1.x versions so you should be OK with that part.
When using Express Edition on Linux and having everything on the same machine you automatically have a "match" between the Oracle Client and OCCI libraries (since they are all under the one and only Oracle Home).
On my Express Edition test machine I have the following version of gcc and I have not had any issues (so far!) with OCCI and the database installed "as is":
    [oracle@oel02 ~]$ g++ --version
    g++ (GCC) 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-3.1)

  • Why does Apple refuse to make a 64 bit version of quicktime for Windows?

For those of us in digital media creation Quicktime is a highly used App, how ever access to 4+ gigs of ram is more important. I'm making the switch to a 64-bit OS in the next week or so, and it's really frustrating to see that Apple, after how many years since XP64 first hit, STILL does not have a 64-Bit version of Quicktime. What is the hold up?
I also don't understand how they can release something where one of the main features is busted for multiple versions. I had to stick with an older version of QT for quite awhile before the load image sequence was fixed. Why are their Windows customers treated as second class citizens?

  • Which version of QuickTime in 2012 MB Air and Retina MB Pro

Went into Apple Store Liverpool yesterday and asked this question, and was shown QT version 10 on the 13inch Air I was looking at.
This seems to contradict what I can find out via web searching, which seems to show QT version 7 as the default version in MB Airs.
The only Retina Pros I could check had QT version 10 but they also had FCP X installed which comes with this version of QuickTime.
So again, what is the default version of QuickTime in the current MacBook Airs and Pros?
    Ron

Depends on the version of OS X they came with.
With Snow Leopard; QT versions 7 and 10.
Lion or Mountain Lion: only QT 10.

  • Minimum version of QuickTime for Windows for Manual Advance QT exports?

My wife is giving a presentation on Friday and must present on a Windows machine. Her presentation includes a dozen short, embedded video clips, so the only trustworthy way to not completely ruin the flow of the presentation is to export the Keynote to Quicktime.
No fancy builds or transitions, just standard dissolves and the previously mentioned embedded videos.
I'm wondering what the lowest version of QuickTime Player for Windows is that will play a manual advance .mov file exported from Keynote '09.
    Thanks.

The computer should be able to play that file with QT, what happens when you try to open it?
Here is a sample of H.264 you can test on the computer

  • Windows 7 - which version to buy for Premiere Pro 5.5?

Ive had a quick scout about but I cant seem to find a definitive answer to the question of which version of 64 bit Windows 7 is the best option for Premiere Pro? I didnt want to waste money by purchasing Ultimate only to 'tune' out most of the services - ala black viper's 'barebones' setup, to get the best from my limited hardware setup
I am bulding the following simple system for a Non internet connected workstation for exclusive SD editing purposes, amd 64, 8Gb, GTX550 TI, 160 Gb Velociraptor primary drive, 2 Tb Assets drive and a 1 Tb output drive. I will be running production premium.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers guys, Les

Win7 Home Premium is enough, but if you ever consider upping memory beyond 16 GB or using network services for a home network or backing up to a NAS, then you are better off with Win7 Pro. The price difference is small, so Pro looks like the better, more future proof option.

  • No audio when using latest version of quicktime for some files

I have some .mov files that play perfectly using Quicktime 4 (included with the cd containing the files, old lectures from 2000). Now, I have the newest version of quicktime and the video plays with no problems, but I get no audio. I uninstalled the new version of quicktime and installed the quicktime 4 that came with the cd and all of the files worked fine. When I reinstalled the new version of quicktime the .mov files will not play audio, but the video is fine. I tried the safe mode thing, but that didn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.
