Which version of QuickTime in 2012 MB Air and Retina MB Pro

Went into Apple Store Liverpool yesterday and asked this question, and was shown QT version 10 on the 13inch Air I was looking at.
This seems to contradict what I can find out via web searching, which seems to show QT version 7 as the default version in MB Airs.
The only Retina Pros I could check had QT version 10 but they also had FCP X installed which comes with this version of QuickTime.
So again, what is the default version of QuickTime in the current MacBook Airs and Pros?
Ron

Depends on the version of OS X they came with.
With Snow Leopard; QT versions 7 and 10.
Lion or Mountain Lion: only QT 10.

As of right this very second, SQL Server 2014 is not supported. SharePoint 2013 supports:
    One of the following:
The 64-bit edition of Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
The 64-bit edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1
Hardware and software requirements for SharePoint 2013
Edit: I may be mistaken. It looks like the April 2014 CU adds support for SQL Server 2014. If this is the case generally going with the latest SQL Edition provides you with the latest SQL functionality. I'm not aware of any SharePoint features that would
make use of functionality that is new to SQL Server 2014 but this could change with a future service pack.

  • Which version of Windows Server 2012 needs to be ordered so that I can downgrade to Windows Server 2008 64bit Standard SP2

    Dears in Microsoft,
We need to have Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 64bit to be installed and due to the fact it is no more available in Microsoft.
I am going to order Windows 2012 with 16 CAL in order to downgrade it to Windows 2008 Standard SP2 64bit. My question is:
    1. Which version of Windows Server 2012 needs to be ordered so that I can downgrade to Windows Server 2008 64bit Standard SP2?
    2. what else required in terms of product key, media, license...etc?
    Appreciate your kind supports.
    thanks and best regards

Any licensing questions are always best addressed by a trained Microsoft licensing specialist.  You can find whom to call by looking at www.microsoft.com/licensing.
One of the built-in rights of a Windows Server license is the right to run earlier versions of the operating system.  So if you purchase either Standard or Datacenter, you can run 2008 Standard.
However, that does not provide the media or activation codes for earlier versions of the operating sytem.  You have to obtain those via other channels.  You should most likely contact a Microsoft reseller and talk to them.  They will
most likely have a trained licensing specialist on hand to help answer your questions, and they should also be able to provide media for earlier distributions (for a slight fee).

  • With which version of RTSJ complies RTS 2.1 and RTS 2.2?

    Hi,
with which version or RTSJ complies RTS 2.1 and RTS 2.2?
    http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/realtime/reference/doc_2.1/release/JavaRTSReleaseNotes.html
gives a hint that RTS 2.1 complies with RTSJ 1.0.2!?
For which reason RTS 2.1 does not comply with RTSJ 1.1?
    Thanks,
    Gordon

RTSJ 1.1 doesn't exist yet - it is currently being defined by JSR-282.
All current, official, RTSJ implementations (including Sun's JRTS 2.0+) support RTSJ 1.0.2

  • Pros and cons of the macbook air and the macbook pro

    Hi!
This coming year, my younger daugter will go to high school and need a macbook because she is dyslectic. I want to know which one between the macbook air and the macbook pro will be the best for her. Thanks for your answer.

At least according to their web site, Whitesmoke Executive is not compatible with the Mac operating system.
Word Q does have a Mac version. http://www.goqsoftware.com/products/
I was unable to figure out what software package you meant by Antidote. There are several.
Word, of course, is part of MS Office, and they make a Mac OS version. I use Office 2011 daily.
None of these products are likely to tax the hardware of either of the computers you mention at all. The computer will be spending most of its time waiting for your daughter to do something.
Note - my neice just bought a MacBook Air 11". She is entering the University of South Carolina in the fall and is absolutely thrilled with the computer.

Is it possible to update QT 7 to higher version? I ran the update once and all the Pro features were disabled with the message: Your Reg Key is for QT Version 7 only. I uninstalled the new QT version, and reinstalled the old QT 7 but the Pro functions were still unavailable, so , I had to reinstal Windows to get my Pro functions back. This happened quite a while ago, but every time I get the "Update" message, I am afraid to launch it.

All I can say is that the problem you experienced is not by design but was instead some sort of technical fault, either in QuickTime or in Windows. I've upgraded QuickTime for Windows a number of times, to various new versions of QuickTime 7, and it's never removed my Pro key. My guess, and this is strictly a guess, is that something corrupted the preference file where the Pro key is held, disabling the Pro features and not allowing you to re-enter your key. Since you reinstalled Windows, I would expect that future updates to QuickTime will go without problem, and if for some reason the Pro features are ever removed, re-entering your Pro key should get them back.
    Regards.

  • Which version of Quicktime is FCP using?

I have QT7 Pro 7.6.6 and QT 10 on my Snow Leopard.  I'm trying to update the QT 7.6.6 to 7.7.7, but the installer won't let me, saying QT 10 is already installed.  I can't remember how I was able to install QT7 orginally.
I don't have my Snow Leopard disk with me to do a re-install from the disk.
I'm having some stuttering problems, playing QT movies with QT, and even in FCP (I'm currently editing a project that is HDV & XDCam).
I've never had stuttering problems before on this particular laptop.  Or my previous one.  Both MacBook Pro's.
Which version of QT does Final Cut Studio use?
is there any way to update my QT 7 to the latest version ... which might hopefully ameliorate my stuttering issue?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi Meg The Dog,
The software updates don't register any updates, when I run it.  But the Quicktime on the computer is 7.6, and on the Apple site there is a 7.7. for Snow Leopard.  So the updater says I'm up to date, and the Apple site has a more recent update.  I'm not sure how to read that.  It's just that a missing update might make sense, given both Quicktimes are still working, the only issue the lagging or stuttering.
I've not had trouble before with HDV or XDCam.  At the moment I'm running them on their own native timelines.  I'll put them both on the ProRes timeline when I have to marry the sequences and send-to-Color.  In the meanwhile the stuttering is a bit of an issue.  I also want to run to a second monitor to screen scenes for those involved; but I have to reduce the resolution on the external monitor (at this point not an Apple) to not have stuttering.  I'm going to try out an Apple Cinema monitor shortly, to see if there is any difference.
I've edited entire films, and using a second monitor, with this laptop, without any particularly noticeable stuttering of the image.  I've trashed the preferences on both QT's.  I've DiskWarrior'd the OSx hard drive.  But am still having this issue.  Jagged pans, jagged tracking ...
Mmmm.  I just had an idea.  I used an older laptop to do the DiskWarrior on this newer one.  I'm going to go plug in the older laptop and see if I get the stuttering from it!  Will report back...

  • External monitor will not sleep using 2012 MacBook Air and HDMI adapter

I am running a HP 27xi (27" display) using the apple thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, and using a HDMI cable.
    ISSUE:
I run my 2012 macbook air in "clamshell mode", and solely use the 27" display, which works great. Problem, is when the macbook goes to put the display to sleep, or sleep for the laptop, the display starts to go into power save mode, then flips back on... goes back into power save mode, repeats forever. I called HP, and they said the HDMI signal is not being turned off, hence why the screen keeps going ON, then power save, then repeat. If I shutdown the laptop, then the monitor goes off just fine.
Anyone else ran into an issue with an external monitor NOT going to sleep when plugged into the HDMI adapter? Someone suggusted that I purchase a DVI-D adapter, and use that cable... but that sounds ridiculous. The HDMI adapter should absolutely work.
My temporary fix is to turn off the monitor everytime (if i remember) otherwise the display is in this never ending loop of trying to shut down.
And yes, the Macbook Air is 100% up to date with updates. DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
    Joe

    Hello Joe,
I definitely understand your concern regarding your external display not going to sleep and endlessly looping into power save mode when your MacBook Air is asleep.
I found an article with steps to troubleshoot issues with displays.  This article is for internal and external displays, so you can skip any steps referring to the internal display.  The following steps specifically stands out to me for the situation you are experiencing:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
You can find the full article here:

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • Hello. My safari (and i keep it updated) cannot open PDF files. Should i install Adobe Reader and which version????? I have Mac Book Pro running OS 10.9

My safari (and i keep it updated) cannot open PDF files.Should i install Adobe Reader and which version????/ I have Mac Book Pro running OS 10.9
    Please help me!!!!

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Which version of Reader allows you to add and/or delete pages from a pdf file?  My company just reloaded all basic software and I now have version 11, but it isn't the same and I lost this functionality.

I just need to know which version to download because I don't remember which one I had.  Currently have vs. 11 which doesn't allow adding/deleting pages.

No versions of Adobe Reader allows this. You more than likely had a version of Adobe Acrobat. Any version of Acrobat has this ability.

  • April 3, 2012 Macbook Air vs. Macbook Pro

    Hello Friends,
I know this gets beat to death time after time and feel free to flog me in the comments, but nonetheless here is my scenario. I'm just finishing up grad school and am looking for a new laptop. My previous laptop is a HP DV5000 that I've had all through my undergrad and grad school (I think I should frame it), it's almost 6 or 7 years old this fall. I'm ready for a new laptop and am wanting to take the mac plunge.
I'm debating between the 13" macbook air and the 15" macbook pro. I primarily use the laptop for writing, surfing the net and editing photos/video (amateur for sure). I like to run music, multiple web tabs surfing the net and pop in and out of video/photo editing software. I figure either of these notebooks will be fine for the limited traveling that I do (anything is going to be light compared to a DV5000 with extended battery, it feels like it’s 40 lbs).
Traditionally when I have bought a laptop I try to go for the higher end with the most powerful processor, ram, HDD etc. But after doing some research and seeing the specs/benchmarks of the SSD and the speed of the MBA I’m lost on where to go. On one hand I can see myself getting a 15” MBP with a 256 SSD, glossy screen and upgrading the ram myself and spending $2500ish or I can see myself going with the 13” MBA with the 1.8ghz procs and 256 SSD for $1800ish.
I’m just not sure which direction to turn and if I should wait right now until the new macbook/macbook airs come out. I plan on using either Adobe Elements or Apple Aperture to do light editing (recommendations on this also welcome). Any opinions/recommendations are surely welcome on which direction I should go 13” MBA or 15” MPB.
Thank you in advance for your help!
    -Chris

I agree with you that chasing new models is a hopeless task. My usual pattern is to pick the most appropriate new model shortly after the 3 year Applecare warranty on my current laptop runs out, so I will probably be buying a new computer within the next few months.
For my particular needs, the 13" size has proved to be ideal. I really like being able to fit it into an airline seat pocket, and into a compact briefcase that will not hold a 15" model.
The current 13" models, both Air and Pro, would be a step down for me because they use integrated Intel graphics that provides less support for video and graphic processing (OpenCL etc) than the Nvidia graphics in my 2009 Macbook Pro. Next generation Intel integrated graphics is apparently a big step up, and may be better than what I have now. Who knows, with the optical drive removed there may be room to provide graphics options in the 13" Pro similar to those now available in the larger ones.
(Once I have a Thunderbolt equipped laptop, I will be in the market for a power supply / hub that would give me essentially the same connectivity as Apple's Thunderbolt display. I want to be able to hook up just 2 cables (magsafe and thunderbolt) when I bring my laptop home, and to continue to use my DVI 24" display and my USB and FIrewire 800 drives. But such devices have been slow to appear.)

  • I have an IPad Air and a Lexmark Pro  P205 which is connected wireless to my HP Desktop. How can I get my Ipad to print from my Lexmark ?

I have an Desk Tp HP. On necked wireless to a Lexmark Printer Pro P 205 .   Several months ago I also got an IPad Air and  would like to print from my Ipad .  Must  I buy an Air Print printer or is there a way I can use my Lexmark

You may be able to install an AirPrint sharing application on your PC to enable printing.
Google for "AirPrint for Windows" and you should get several hits.
Alternatively you may be able to use Lexmarks Printing App if it supports your printer model.

  • Debating between 13" Macbook Air and 13" Macbook Pro

Primarilly will be using it with Adobe CS6 (AI, PS and ID). Nothing too intensive and I would be planning on upgrading to the 8gb ram. I know on the older Macbook Air there were problems running OpenGl 2.0. I could care less about the lack of optical drive on the Macbook Air. I guess what I would like to know is... is anyone here running Cs6 on the new Macbook Air and how are they finding it? Would it be a better option to go with the Macbook Pro?
    Thanks!

The "graphics team" that I support for my department have two 13" MacBook Airs (Mid 2011) and they're very pleased with them, both users run CS6 on them. I know one of them will even run their machine on a 27" monitor at 1920x1200 and I've never heard a peep out of them in regards to sluggishness. I suspect the newer machines with 8GB of RAM, a faster SSD and RAM as well as an improved GPU would be even better.
One thing you can also consider doing is trying out Adobe CS6 on the new machines at an Apple Store. I frequently bring external HDs with me to the Apple Store to try programs before I'll make a petition to purchasing for upgraded units. As long as the program can run self-contained on an external drive you should be just fine. I did with with CS5 about 8 months ago.
Lastly, outside of the CPU difference, the MacBook Air has very mostly the same "under the hood" specs. The difference in CPU would be offset by the improved performance of the SSD over the standard HD, at least that's what I've noticed from my own experiences and the feedback of my users.
