Which version of Quicktime is FCP using?

I have QT7 Pro 7.6.6 and QT 10 on my Snow Leopard.  I'm trying to update the QT 7.6.6 to 7.7.7, but the installer won't let me, saying QT 10 is already installed.  I can't remember how I was able to install QT7 orginally.
I don't have my Snow Leopard disk with me to do a re-install from the disk.
I'm having some stuttering problems, playing QT movies with QT, and even in FCP (I'm currently editing a project that is HDV & XDCam).
I've never had stuttering problems before on this particular laptop.  Or my previous one.  Both MacBook Pro's.
Which version of QT does Final Cut Studio use?
is there any way to update my QT 7 to the latest version ... which might hopefully ameliorate my stuttering issue?
All ears,
Ben

Hi Meg The Dog,
The software updates don't register any updates, when I run it.  But the Quicktime on the computer is 7.6, and on the Apple site there is a 7.7. for Snow Leopard.  So the updater says I'm up to date, and the Apple site has a more recent update.  I'm not sure how to read that.  It's just that a missing update might make sense, given both Quicktimes are still working, the only issue the lagging or stuttering.
I've not had trouble before with HDV or XDCam.  At the moment I'm running them on their own native timelines.  I'll put them both on the ProRes timeline when I have to marry the sequences and send-to-Color.  In the meanwhile the stuttering is a bit of an issue.  I also want to run to a second monitor to screen scenes for those involved; but I have to reduce the resolution on the external monitor (at this point not an Apple) to not have stuttering.  I'm going to try out an Apple Cinema monitor shortly, to see if there is any difference.
I've edited entire films, and using a second monitor, with this laptop, without any particularly noticeable stuttering of the image.  I've trashed the preferences on both QT's.  I've DiskWarrior'd the OSx hard drive.  But am still having this issue.  Jagged pans, jagged tracking ...
Mmmm.  I just had an idea.  I used an older laptop to do the DiskWarrior on this newer one.  I'm going to go plug in the older laptop and see if I get the stuttering from it!  Will report back...

  • Which version of iPhoto should I use?

When I picked up my repaired MacBook (Intel Core Duo) the person at the Apple Store showed me how to restore all of its data using my Time Machine backup.  He told me that during the repair they had installed Snow Leopard.  He had forgotten that I had told him when the MacBook first died we were told it was not worth repairing and we purchased a new MacBook Pro running Lion.  The TM backup was from that machine.  The intent was to have two machines with the same Apps & data so each of two users could take either machine and go forward from that point.  Each machine would then have its own TM Backup.
After many discussions with tech support, almost everything except iPhoto (and incoming Apple Mail) on the MacBook works OK.  That's probably because during the restore, iPhoto 9.1.5 was installed.  It does not open because of a Frameworks conflict of some sort.  Earlier versions of iPhoto say the Library was created with a newer version.  (I temporarily moved the iPhoto Library out of my User>Pictures Folder, opened iPhoto 7.x and imported some photo's to create a new Library.  That worked.  My original Library is 35 GB so each attempt to fix anything in it has been time consuming.  That's why I'm asking the real experts.
I've seen a suggestion from Terrance Devlin to "rebuild" the Library using the iPhoto Library Manager and others by Terrance, Neil, Old Toad, and Kappy to drag a different version of Frameworks into System>Library>?  (Apparently, some OS X 10.7 support files were loaded onto the MacBook.)  Which ones and which version?
Which version of iPhoto should I use on the MacBook?  Which version does OS X 10.6.8 support?  Eventually, we'd also like to merge some of the individual Libraries into a shared Library.  Is iPhoto Library Manager the best way to do that?  (Speaking of that, I understand Apple does not support backup of non-Lion Mac's via Wi-Fi, except if using Time Capsule.  Seagate sells an external 2 TB Hard Drive that connects via ethernet to your Router, for that purpose.  Does it work well?)

    Terence,
Below is a copy of the Problem Report I get after I double click the iPhoto (9.1.5) icon in my Applications folder.  Both iPhoto 6 and iPhoto 7 open but cannot read my iPhoto Library that was restored from a Lion TM backup.  I tried moving my iPhoto Library out of the Pictures folder and was able to create a new one using iPhoto 7.1.5.
Inside of System>Library, there are two copies of the following folders:
    Frameworks
    PodcastProducer
    Keychains
    Java
In each case, the name of the second folder includes "(from old Mac)" without the quotes after the folder name.  I believe my issue is being caused by the System using Frameworks instead of Frameworks (from old Mac), but I have not been able to switch them easily and, as you said, do not want to do serious damage.
The only other thing that does not work properly is incoming IMAP mail via AOL and Google.  Outgoing works on those two plus Incoming and Outgoing work on the Verizon POP account.

  • Which version of jwsdp is being used

How can I determine which version of jwsdp is being used? Is it by jar name?

Depends entirely on what you choose to export:
    File -> Export Photo
Will export The current version, the original, a jpeg, tiff or png. All of them will be the edited version except the Original.
If you want to move all your versions between Libraries check out iPhoto Library Manager

  • Is there a tool to determine which version of the WDK was used to build a binary?

I'd like to ensure that our developers are all using the same WDK when building software.  Some of the binaries delivered to my team are from other organizations where we have less control over the build environment.  Is there a tool that I can
run to identify which version of the WDK was used to build binaries that are built with MSBuild?

the quick answer is no, you can't verify it

  • How to find which version of JDK is loadjava using

    Hi All,
How to find which version of JDK is loadjava using?
    I am using Oracle : 9.0.1.5.1 and I need to use class javax.crypto.Cipher which is shipped with JDK 1.4.2, but loadjava is unable to import javax.crypto.*;
Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Abba

    Abba,
From memory only (since I haven't verified it), "loadjava" is a script, so you can have a look at its contents. I believe it actually uses JDK 1.1.8 (which is part of the Oracle installation). In any case, Oracle 9i is compatible with JDK 1.3 only.
Oracle 10g is compatible with JDK 1.4.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Final Cut Pro 5.0.4...Which Version Of Quicktime Is Compatible?

i've been experiencing capturing problems with FCP5.0.4 lately (MDD G4). i've read that it's probably due to QuickTime updates not being compatible with my (slightly) old version of FCP and my (slightly) old computer. i did a complete OS re-install and went back to QT7.2.1, but i'm still experiencing the problem (video freezes for a few seconds every once and a while during capture). so my question is, for those of you using FCP5.0.4, what version of QT are you using?
i guess now that my computer and software is considered "old," i need to figure out what versions of software to stop at...

I don't believe there are any links to confirm that, but many the post here have been on the boards for years, and the consensus is that that combination works well
Perhaps the "*Amazing Shane*" might weigh in on this.

  • Which version of QuickTime in 2012 MB Air and Retina MB Pro

Went into Apple Store Liverpool yesterday and asked this question, and was shown QT version 10 on the 13inch Air I was looking at.
This seems to contradict what I can find out via web searching, which seems to show QT version 7 as the default version in MB Airs.
The only Retina Pros I could check had QT version 10 but they also had FCP X installed which comes with this version of QuickTime.
So again, what is the default version of QuickTime in the current MacBook Airs and Pros?
    Ron

Depends on the version of OS X they came with.
With Snow Leopard; QT versions 7 and 10.
Lion or Mountain Lion: only QT 10.

  • How can I know which version of Firefox I'm using?

I tried to download an EOB from my insurance company's website, and it won't allow me to view the EOB. I talked to their web support and was told that I have to use the same version of Firefox that they support, which is Firefox 26 or 27. I don't know how to find out which version I am using. If I am not using their version of Firefox (26 or 27), how can I download that version. I don't know which version is on my PC now and I don't know how to find it on Firefox. Thank you
I just tried installing below this box on Troubleshooting Information, and Firefox would not allow me to install. What is going on?

Is the EOB a PDF document?
Firefox updates every 6 weeks and the current version is 31.0. Rolling back almost 6 months is not recommended for security reasons. If that's their best answer, I suggest we either figure out a workaround for getting the document, or you just use a different browser for their site.

  • Which version of JDeveloper has been used

    hi
If one would stumble upon some source files of an ADF application for which there is not much context available (like e.g. in the forum thread "SelectBooleanCheckBox/SelectBooleanRadio and getTransaction().isDirty()") ...

I wonder what the Oracle intended/preferred approach is to determined the version of JDeveloper to use, based on the ADF application source files alone, answering (q1).

  • Anyone knows a DVD player for TV which can play QuickTime movies /FCP movie

I am trying to find a DVD player for my television which can play a QuickTime or Final Cut Pro movie which is on a DVD. Do you know one ?
    I have a FCP movie (720 x 576 ) transfed to a DVD ( UDF format ).
I have tryed to play the DVD in many DVD plyers, but they all say " unknown file format "

playing them through AppleTV, can do the trick?
yes and no. The AppleTV is a terribly crippled product. Seems to have been launched with only a few of its capabilities enabled and then it sort of got forgotten.
Before investing in an AppleTV box, be sure to read the product reviews from the MAcintosh magazines and especially the PC magazines. You want to get objective information about this weirdly limited box.
