Which version should I buy

I am very new to Photoshop and image editing. I want to edit photos for diy wall art such as adding borders, distressing, etc.
Can someone direct me as to which version I should purchase?

If you have not used Photoshop I would suggest you start with Photoshop Elements not full Photoshop. Element has some hand holding which is helpful for novice users. Photoshop is quite complex and all things are not intuitive. You need to learn how to use Photoshop and it takes a very long time. You never stop discovering how things are being done in Photoshop. Elements version 13 was just released it can be had for under $100. It should do you for years and help you learn Photoshop's ways.
If you buy a wacom Intuos pro small $220 the through in a copy of Elements I received Elements 12 with them. Perhaps the will change to Elements 13... Using a pressure sensitive Pen with Brush type tools is much better then using a mouse. You can have both Mouse and Pen atachec to your machine.

It is the first time I need to buy the acrobat, and since I can't have a free trial of the standart version, I would like to know if the cheaper one is enough for:
*editing pdf's;
*Easily converting images into pdf (from what I understood the standard does not convert ppt archives only, right?);
*Merging and spliting pdf's.

You can print from any application to Acrobat, so if anything else you can print a PPT or other application file to a PDF. The following application chart might be useful: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html. It does not distinguish Std and Pro, so I am assuming it applies to both -- but that is just an assumption.

I downloaded CS2 from the Adobe site BEFORE this recent notice was posted and it is the only version that I have and use.
The new notice is VERY confusing, because if you were a prior purchaser of it originally, why would you need their newly supplied serial number (which is what I use since I was NOT a prior purchaser. But again, when I downloaded and installed CS2 there was no such notice).
I suggest that you see if it downloads, installs and works with that serial number, as free is always better than not! (especially since it is known that iMac G5's are prone to hardware failure from bad capacitors! I had many of them...)

Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

Look, any officially unlocked GSM iPhone will work in India. You purchase from Dubai, no FaceTime, and Dubai is part of the UAE. Instead of buying right away you may want to avail yourself of the free 30 day trial first to see which program fits your needs.
Photoshop and Photoshop Elements may be worth a try.
If you intend to create more graphic/typographic designs Illustrator may be worth looking into, too.
Someone else may have more/other recommendations, though.

I have Quicktime 7.0.4 Pro and I sometimes do need to import some *.wma "crap" into my footage (which then is edited by FCP). I guess I need to upgrade my Flip4Mac from the free version (currently 2.0.2). Could you please tell me which version should I go for? My choice would be one of Player Pro ($29), Studio ($49) and Studio Pro ($99). Which one should I pick and which version you guys are using the most in conjuction with Final Cut Pro 5? (The best value for money)

Pro lets you start with WMV and make QT (or in Toast you can use WMV as source files and make MPEG-1, 2 VCD or DVD etc.)
The Studio $49 makes WMV from QT e.g. the other way around. Obviously Bill Gates gets a piece to use a WM encoder. This version has preset WMV settings.
The last one does the same but lets you set custom encodes.
If you are never making WMV and that is always a good idea, the $29 adds ability to use WMV in various apps and may be all you need.
