Which Video Filter provides a cameo window

Can anyone tell me which video filter will allow me to make a cameo window in a video? i have a video with a still Powerpoint slide as the background. What i want to accomplish is to make a round or oblong video window in the bottom right or left corner of the speaker going over the slide. I have the window there but it is presently a rectangle image vs a round/oblong image.

If I understand correctly I think the Matte>Mask Shape filter will work for you.

  • Video Filter Crash on Mac

    Hello All,
I am running into some odd behavior porting a video filter over from Windows to Mac. As far as I know, the filter is running properly on Windows.
The portion of the video filter I am working on that is not necessarily custom is pretty much a cut and paste of the Simple_Video_Filter example project in the SDK. Specifically, the code run at the following selectors in the video filter I am working on is the same as in the example project: fsInitSpec, fshasSetupDialog, fsSetup (except for differing init of custom controls for my filter), fsCanHandlePAR, fsGetPixelFormatsSupported (except for additional formats my filter can handle). Also, the signature of the entry function for my filter - xFilter - is the same as that of the sample project.
The crash is occuring soon after entry into the code for the fsExecute selector. The crash is occurring in a part of this section which is also a cut and paste from the sample project:
         case fsExecute:
         result = fsNoErr;
// Get the data from specsHandle
                paramsH = (filterParamsH)(*theData)->specsHandle;
                if (paramsH)
                    // Get the frame dimensions
                    ((*theData)->piSuites->ppixFuncs->ppixGetBounds)((*theData)->destination, &box);
In a seemingly non deterministic fashion, the code will crash on the call to '((*theData)->piSuites->ppixFuncs->ppixGetBounds)((*theData)->destination, &box);' due to a EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal being received. A look at the memory reveals that 'theData' seems ok, however the 'piSuites' member of 'theData' is NULL, and hence the crash. In the sample it doesn't seem that one would have to specifically check for a non null 'piSuites', 'ppixFuncs' ect so long as we have 'theData' (and also 'paramsH')
As it seems that everything else leading up to the calling of the line of code that is crashing is pretty much cut and paste, I am somewhat at a loss.
Has anyone seen similar behavior and knows the remedy?
    Thanks in advance,
    Josh Bodinet

    Hi Josh,
Not sure why it isn't providing a valid piSuites pointer during fsExecute.  You're not able to reproduce it in the Simple Video Filter sample, right?  If you can find any steps to reproduce the NULL pointer, that would be really interesting for us.
    Thanks,
    Zac

  • For unknown reason, why would I be getting many new re-directs to Ads via FiuneDeaalSuoft which seem to come through Microsoft Windows webpages?

A program from FiuneDeaalSuoft somehow appeared in my Firefox Add-0ns as of 2 days ago (08212014) according to Control Panel-Programs. I don't recognize it, but possibly I mistakenly clicked on an acceptance interface without realizing it. The ad re-directs which it caused were onerous and invasive. The re-directs first started appearing when I received a message advising me to update some other programs. I have a list of most of them. It seemed to start I went onto a Windows web page, for Windows Live Movie Maker,
    < http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker-file-types-faq?wlexpid=FC1B09C67C184525852C59C15A0F465E >
which had 3 block ads at the top from FiuneDeaalSuoft. The links for those three ads were:
    < Microsoft.iYogi.com > phone 855-558-2498,
    < Microsoft-Windows.iYogi.com > phone 855-558-2498, and
< Microsoft-Support.pchelpdesk.co > with no phone showing in my screenshot of the ad but it is probably the same as given later herein, 855-677-5531.
I removed the FiuneDeaalSuoft program from Add-ons, but I still seem to be getting some pop-ups and re-directs. Looking in Control Panel, I see that the program name is slightly different: FuineDealSOfti from FineDealSofT. This program was extremely aggressive and persistent. In Control Panel, I see other programs which I am also concerned about. IDT Audio from IDT has been on my computer a while, but I can't remember much about it. Pinger from Pinger, Inc. shows that it was installed in Dec. 2013 before I bought the computer. WidgetServ 1.0 from Softomate, LLC. is through Firefox. WinSpeed from 24soft installed in April 2014 is another program which I don't know much about. Can anyone offer further analysis and review or comment of any of these programs, please, with advice as to whether you have found them useful or problematic?
The software from FiuneDeaalSuoft will be uninstalled from Control Panel since I am convinced that it is very invasive and a lot of trouble. An Install Manager from dwnllistsoft.com was part of the pathway. It wanted to re-direct to < http://uhi.inureknittingrectrix.com >, which had code sections referring to < plh.tractionize.com >; < WhiteLabelBidRequestHandlerServlet >; < www.srv2trking.com >; < LTSanitizer.aspx >; and < www.ascentive.com >.
The original message seemed to be one which advised that "Video Update Recommended".
Another had the Firefox logo and advised that "You are currently browsing the web with Firefox and your Video Player might be outdated". The webpage address was:

Since you probably have too many emails and too few volunteers, I don't expect that anyone has time to send me a personal individual response, but a universal message or warning (if appropriate) to all users would be great. I am still uncertain if I am making this a bigger deal than it actually is.
Thanks to everyone at Firefox. It has been my favorite browser for a few years now.

  • Can I have an external video source run in a window instead of using the full display?

I'm aware that the 27" iMac models are capable of accepting external video sources, but I'm wondering if it's possible to have an external video source run in a window on the desktop, rather then use the full display. Does anyone know if there's any software I can download to allow this, or will I have to purchase a special capture device?

hat I DON'T WANT TO OPEN the window application FROM the Labview VI BUT IN the Labview VI. I think it's possible to do that and to do communicate the OpenGL application with the Labview Interface using an ActiveX but I don't know how. Can someone help me ?The desired behavior you desribed may not be possible with that application. In general LabVIEW does not offer a window object that other standalone applications can run it. The closest thing is the ActiveX container. If the programmers for your application created an activeX control of your program and they provided documentation, it should be pretty easy to incorperate the app and labview into one window. I recommend contacting the manufacuturer of the app to see if they have an activeX control version of the app.

  • Motion + Video Filter order

I have two things going within one edited shot.
    1) I zoom into a still photo via Motion.
    2) I use the widescreen Matte video filter.
The problem is that it seems like Motion overrides the matte video filter, so that when
I zoom into the photo, the photo expands but so does the Matte filter, which I don't want.
I want the matte filter to stay put over the moving image
    Any tip?
    Thank you,
    MP

Remove the Widescreen Matte filter from the clip, leaving only the motion effect.
Once this is done, click on the clip on the timeline to select it.
Go to the menu Sequence > Nest Item(s), or type Option + C to nest the clip.
When the Nest box appears, click OK to create the nest.
Now the clip on the timeline has been converted to a self contained nest, so apply the Widescreen Matte to it.
You should see the Widescreen masking the motion.
If you want to make changes to the motion once the clip has been nested, double click on the nest and the original contents will appear. Make you changes and these changes will be reflected when you return to the sequence containing the nest.

  • Video Filter missing: AE.keylight 906?

    Hi,
I am a complete noob when it comes to editing video in Adobe. I've been looking for a solution to my problem in other places, but my attempts were futile.
    Here's what I did:
I edited a video clip in Adobe After Effects, dealt with the green screen using Keylight, then exported my work as an Adobe Premiere Pro Project. Once that was done, I tried opening the project in Premiere and a window popped up saying "Video Filter missing: AE.keylight 906." I clicked OK and found that Premiere does not show my edited green screen. It merely shows the original - I think I'm right in saying that is because the video filter is missing, as the message stated. How do I fix this? Help please!
    Thank you for your time.
    MP

My guess for the choppiness would be that you used the default uncompressed render settings from After Effects; this likely made a very large file that, unless you have a really stout and fast hard drive setup (e.g. RAID), you will not get real time playback. Uncompressed is good in that, well, it's uncompressed and therefore doesn't add any further image degradation, but it can make for a lousy editing experience, as you've found.
Depending on what your source footage is (you didn't mention this originally), and what your intended destination/delivery format is, you might be able to use different render/export settings from After Effects for a more playable file in Premiere. Later, you could rerender the composition to the uncompressed version and replace the original; this will give you better performance for further editing in Premiere, and then later will give you higher quality output. This is often referred to as proxy editing, and there are a couple of ways you can go about this, if it's something you want to attempt.
Regarding the loss of edits when moving from Premiere: there shouldn't be any loss of edit points, necessarily, but what you might be thinking of is the loss of transitions. Since Premiere Pro works with tracks and After Effects works with layers, the two programs have different methods of representing and creating transitions (e.g. dissolves). In Premiere, you can put two clips next to each other in the sequence on a single track, and add a dissolve between them; however, in After Effects, a layer can only contain one footage item, so to create a transition between two layers, they must overlap. There are analogs for certain transitions--a dissolve, for example, is just a change in opacity of one layer that is over another--but other more "fancy" transitions must be recreated more manually. In short, you shouldn't have to worry about the timing of your edit in Premiere changing when moving to After Effects, whether you use Dynamic Link or whether you simply copy and paste from Premiere into AE.
Hope that helps a bit more. And Mr. Brougham is my dad's name

  • Can someone explain the FCE "Levels" Video Filter to me?

    Hi,
I need help with the FCE "Levels" Video Filter - I cannot find any documentation anywhere which explains precisely what this filter does and how to use it properly (Googling 'levels "input tolerance" "final cut express"' yields no results!!).
There are five sliders (Input, Input Tolerance, Gamma, Output and Output Tolerance) but playing with them, it's not obvious what they do or how they compare with the Photoshop "Levels" filter for still images.
In particular, I would like to map settings on a Photoshop "Levels" filter to settings on an FCE "Levels" Filter to achieve the exact same results in terms of adjusting the underlying images.
If this can't be done exactly, does anyone know of an FCE Filter which replicates the Photoshop Levels Filter.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

It's not a very useful filter, and is not directly comparable to the Photoshop Levels filter. There is no histogram, which I consider essential.
Input & Input Tolerance lighten the image (they work together)
    Gamma adjusts midtones
Output & Output Tolerance darken the image (they work together)
Problem is, you have to drop the sliders off their default settings to get them to work at all. Start by dropping the Input and/or Output sliders to 20. Then adjust the companion Tolerance sliders down to see the effect.
I think you'll have more luck with the Color Corrector filter, which has sliders for Whites, Mids, Blacks & Saturation. Among other things, you will find the numeric levels sliders more comparable to the PS Levels controls.

  • Determine Which Video is Playing in iAd Producer

    Hi,
Can someone help me how to check what video is playing on my iAd creative? I'm working on a multi video creative banner and I would like to call an analytics code depending on which video is playing. I have a carousel object that controls which video to play. The thing is, the analytic tracking should be called when the video reaches 25%, 50% and 75% of its duration.
I'm finding ways to execute this through the CODE WINDOW and not within the Inspector or Action Lists panels.
    Thanks!
    Mark

The code window is where you would hook in your own calls. Otherwise, you could check the boxes in the Analytics window for the default events.  Be sure that you've discussed getting this type of reporting with whomever is running your ad since video quartiles may not be part of the standard reporting roll-up.

  • Applying one video filter to multiple clips

How do I apply just one video filter to multiple clips on a timeline in FCP7? "Copy and paste attributes" does not give me the control to select just one filter to apply, for example there is a color corrector and sharpen filter in the copied clip and all I want to paste is sharpen.

Double click on a clip on the timeline that has the sharpness filter with the settings you want to apply to additional clips.
When that clip has loaded to the viewer, click on the filters tab. You will see a list of all the filters you have applied.
Now, on the timeline, select all the clips you want to apply that filter to (you can hold down the Command key while clicking on the clips to select multiple clips).
Once the destination clips are selected, move your cursor to the Viewer window Filters tab display, and click down on the Sharpness filter and drag it to any one of the selected clips on the timeline.
It will be applied to all clips.

  • Video Filter missing:  PR.ADBE Camera View

Hi, I get the following message when I load my premiere project:
Video Filter missing:  PR.ADBE Camera View
I know its a filter on windows what is not on a mac because I transferd some files to my mac. I only want to know how do I get rid of this message.
    Thanks

Yes, but it will be manual labour. Just go through all your clips and remove each instance where you have used it. Maybe it is shown in the timeline in a different color or with diagonal stripes through it, I don't know.

  • Video filter for dark video?

I have some video shot in a dark party, is there a video filter that will help (as much as it can, I'm not expecting miracles!)
    Thanks!

There are several filters which will lighten your video but of course you will get increased video noise (grain).
Go to Effects>Video Filters>Image Control and try the Brightness, Gamma or Level filters.

  • Video filter question

    Hi all,
I am using the Video Filter effect "Soft Focus", an FxPlug under "Blur" in FCP 5.1.2
I was messing around with the parameters and found that when I have the amount set to 0 (which should be no effect, right?) and let's say the strength is at .25, the image is still blurred. Why? I have the amount set to 0. Is it because of the strength? But the strength shouldn't matter because there is not amount set. I find this with several "blur" filters...that when the amount is 0, there is still distortion in the image.
    What am I missing?
    Jonathan

No not really - the parameters are the parameters.
If you reduce the Strength to 0 then it should have no effect with Amount also at 0.
I haven't used that filter but I'd assume you can define the centre of where the effect would be - that's likely where the Amount will come into play. An Amount or width of aperture, like a lens is my guess as to why they called it Amount.
Just have to play with them and learn them.

  • Which Java version to install on Windows w/AMD Athlon 4400+?

    Hello all,
Until now, I've always run Windows on an Intel Pentium platform. However, I just purchased a new PC with an AMD64 Athlon 4400+ processor (one of those new "dual core" jobs). According to the PC manufacturer, this processor can run at 64-bit or 32-bit, but by default, is set to 32-bit processing.
    Here's my question:
Assuming that I'll be running this machine as a 32-bit processor, which version of the JDK should I pick to run on this new system? Windows/Pentium or Windows AMD64?
    Thanks for your help.

    Be careful here.
I went out and bought a nice new AMD64 cpu and
installed the beta Windows XP 64 bit edition and then
tried to install that 64 bit Java for AMD and never
got past the install. Windows kept killing the
installer insisting it was either a virus or
    unauthorized or some such nonsense.
After not being able to install other 32 bits apps
(and I had no problems with other 32 bis apps, mind
you) I finally removed windows 64 and installed
Windows XP Pro and Java 1.4.x without issues.
Conclusion: Install the 32 bit Java if your OS is 32
bit, install the 64 bit version of Java if your OS is
64 bit (if you can). Your hardware makes no
difference if it can operate at both 32 and 64 bits.
Then it depends on the OS that you're running
g because it will tell your CPU which mode to operate
in."Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is designed to meet the demands of customers who require large amounts of memory and floating point performance in areas such as mechanical design and analysis, 3-D animation, video editing and composition, and scientific and high-performance computing applications. "
    - Microsoft
"If you use only 32-bit applications and work with data sets not larger than 2 GB, you will find that 32-bit, Windows XP Professional is the best desktop system for your applications."
    - Microsoft
Are you even doing anything Windows 64 is designed for? Unless you're running in a 64-bit environment you shouldn't be downloading the 64-bit Java, whether or not your processor can support 64-bit environments is irrelevent. If you're a Windows user, then chances are you shouldn't be using Windows 64 because unless you require massive amounts of processor power and memory for things like animation or engineering it's not for you.
