Which Virtual PC version do I need ?

Decided that the easiest way to solve the problem of running a PC CD is to get a copy of Virtual PC. As I use Tiger as the O/S does the Virtual PC have to be 'OSX Tiger' specific or will an earlier version work ?

You will want Virtual PC 7.0.2 or later.
I remember using Virutal PC 7.0 when I was using OS 10.3.9, and it worked flawlessly.
When I upgraded to OS 10.4 Tiger, several features were broken. Microsoft acknowledged the problem, and promised a free update.
It took them a couple of months to get the update out, but when they finally did, everything worked perfectly fine again.
The older versions will work, but you will have some "issues" with them.
I remember that on my system, the features that would not work (properly) with OS 10.4 and Virtual PC 7.0 were Windows sounds, shared networking, and a couple of other small items.
So, go for 7.0.2 or later.
If you buy 7.0, you can download the 7.0.2 update from Microsoft's website.
Don't buy anything prior to version 7 though. With version 7, you can upgrade to 7.0.2 for free. But, if you buy a version 6.x, then you'll have to buy the 7.0 upgrade as well.

There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
   1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows
         XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. For Boot Camp
         4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow

         installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the

         as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
         It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
         Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.

Just got a new computer. Putting Desktop Manager on and clicked update button. I had 4.3, newest version is 5.0, but there are a bunch of different versions. some with Media Manager. Which one do I need.

Your basic choice is languange and Media Manager -- both of which depend on your needs. For instance, if you want English with Media Manager, then you'd download:

The stuff further down the page are subsets of the full DTM package -- USB/Modem drivers (with different languages), Device Manager only (with languages), etc. Stick with the Desktop Manager selections at the top of the list and you will get all that you need.

Which Media Explorer version do i need for Zen Micro 5gb with Firmware 2.20.

Same old story, been trying for hours and hours to transfer music onto the player. Searching forums for answers.

I have tried installing Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB) but it doesn't recognise my player is plugged in.

Also tried installing Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) (23.98 MB) but Win Media Player 0 still doesn't recognise the player.

Should i bother installing software/drivers from the original CD i got? Or download them instead? Which do i need to download? Do i need to change the firmware?

I know these questions have been asked thousands of times, but all the answers i have read don't seem to be doing the trick.

Hurrah, i FINALLY got it working.
Installed drivers/software from original cd.
Downloaded/installed the Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) (23.98 MB) and managed to get the 'sync' feature working in WMP0.
Downloaded/installed Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB) but it wasn't detecting my Zen.
Went into Device Manager and firstly uninstalled the MTP Device under Windows Portable Devices.
Connected Zen again, went into Device Manager again, right clicked on the MTP device and clicked on Update Driver.
The Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update then detected my device and installed.

Which OS X version do i need

i'm planning to buy a used G3 ibook so that i can video conference with other family members. what versions of OS X include ichat with video capabilities? Do I need Tiger or will an earlier version work? i assume OS 9 does not come with ichat.

AIM 5.9 to iChat can be made to work (not AIM 6.0)
Trillian on a PC can be successful to iChat.

If java6update29 is incompatable with the current firefox, which version do I need and how do I get it?

In transaction FSE3 I can see all accounts in Financial Statement Version, but I need vice versa:
for given account I need to know if the account is in the Financial Statement Version (also which area of it).
Is there any report to get this?

the financial statement positions are stored in table FAGL_011ZC. The problem is that intervals are stored here, not single values. So, if you don't find a single value, it still can be contained in an interval. On the other hand one G/L account can be in any number of FSVs.

Which Weblogic server installation do I need??

I need to download and install Oracle 11g Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer (11.1.1.2.0) for Windows 7 Professional. On its main page, Oracle says that I have to download and install Weblogic Server before I can install Forms 11g. When I go to Weblogic Server download page, I see two versions: The package installer (815 MB), and the net installer (40 MB). Which one of them do I need for my purpose? Also, do I need something else (other than the database ofcourse and the Weblogic Server) to download and install before putting Forms 11g?

Both Installer will do the same thing....You can choose any one of them

Downloading the Package installer is recommended if you want to perform multiple WebLogic Server installations at your site. In a typical scenario, you download the Package installer only once, then make it available to each machine on which you wish to have the product installed. Which mac os install disck I need to buy?

hello chaps,
I just replace my imac's harddrive and I need to install mac os again, however I lost my orignal installation disk, after some googling, I am pretty much sure I need to buy a retail version installation disk, however I am not sure which version exactly I need.
my imac is EMC 2390, so I think it's a iMac "Core i5" 2.8 27-Inch (Mid-2010) version, I wanna to use OS X Mavericks, but I guess I still need to install the old version mac os first right? (I guess is snow leopard?)

Was your old Hard Drive still working?
If so, put it into a USB enclosure or get a universal drive adapter so that you can boot from it.
If you were on Snow Leopard, startup holding the Option key and navigate to Disk Utility. From there you can setup the new HD and then Restore the OS X from your old hard drive to the new hard drive.
If you were already on Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks startup holding the Option key and startup into the Recovery Partition, then setup and restore or reinstall OS X on you new hard drive.

I get his error when trying to install the latest patch: "Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem, however it is missing or damaged. Download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager or install this product again."

If the camera is newer than the last version of Camera Raw that was released for an older version of Photoshop, you won't be able to get direct, convenient "open file" support for the raw files.

Just glancing at those links, Photoshop CS4 can update to only as far as Camera Raw 5.7. Unfortunately, the minimum required version to work with your T3i is Camera Raw 6.4.
Your fallback position will be to either convert your raw files to DNG format with the latest free DNG converter release, or get a newer version of Photoshop. The later has an advantage in that there have been substantial improvements to Camera Raw in recent releases.

I think you meant 10.6.8, not 10.8.6
It requires an upgrade, instead of a free update.

You could use firefox 3.6, which is old but still supported and secure. However the best solution is to give up on using Google Toolbar because Google no longer support it with firefox, mainly because it has little to offer.
You can still save google bookmarks by copying them into Firefox. Please have a look at

I am hoping the Norton report you refer to merely says your system has vulnerabilities, rather than that it has an actual infection (or that it has dealt with or quarantined any malware).
