  • Which version of windows 7 for bootcamp

Hello...I tried searching past posts regarding this issue but didn't find what I was looking for.  I want to install Windows 7 via bootcamp on my new Feb' 2011 Macbook Pro, but I need to be sure whether or not there is a particular 'mac version' for Windows 7.  I know I have to get the full box copy/retail version (64 bit), but is there anything else I need to be particular about, in terms of a version more suitable for macs?  Or will that said version work?
    Thank you much

There is no "Mac" version of Windows 7 for BootCamp.
BootCamp sets up a partition and a Hybrid MBR, and provides drivers for your Mac's hardware to interface with the Window OS.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
You must print out and read the instructions carefully. If you seem stuck in Windows upon booting, simply hold option while booting to get a choice of operating systems.
The only thing I might consider is getting the Windows 7 Pro version, you can then download XP VirtualPC from Microsoft if you need to run XP programs.
Once you get that setup, your going to run into a issue of always dual booting.
Windows in Bootcamp partition gives full hardware performance, but at a cost of dual booting to each OS.
Later on you might want to consider installing a virtual machine software like VMFusion or Parallels (or even VirtualBox) most of these can take your Bootcamped Windows and make a copy of it to run Windows in a window (like a file) in OS X.
Catch here is you lose some performance, but gain a heck of a lot of functionality to swtich to any OS
(even XP, Linux and other ones BootCamp doesn't support)
I currently run 10 other operating systems on my machine, and another triple boots into Linux, OS X or Windows.
You can have a lot of fun checking out other operating systems this way. Linux has a lot of free programs to use.

Since purchasing the Note 3 in October i have had nothing but issues. I went through all the steps and eventually I was sent a different phone, which was working for the most part until the recent upgrade. Now I am back to the old issues, no service, it actually says not moblie network available, when everyone else in my family has coverage and are on my plan with iphones. I am missing text messages and dropping calls left and right. This is unacceptable for the cost of this phone and my service. I have did a hard reset etc. What else can I do??

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Need a solution to create BOM which will work for all Component category

    Hi All,
    I want to create BOM.
I am using LSMW (std batch input program RCSBI010).
After execution I came to know that it will not work for if Item category (STPO-POSTP) = 'D' (Document).
Can Anyone tell me Is there any way to create Material BOm which will work for all kinds of component(Item)Category.
Below are the diffnt types of Item Category:
    ICt Item category text
    A   Alloy Item
    D   Document item
    I   PM structure element
    K   Class item
    L   Stock item
    M   Phantom material
    N   Non-stock item
    R   Variable-size item
    T   Text item
    X   Coded, Non-Stock Item

    Dear Amit,
1.Is the production BOM containing all these item categories?
2.It seems there are some additonal item categories apart from standard item categories(A Alloy Item ,M Phantom material ,
X Coded, Non-Stock Item) for which you have to identify for which fields the value will be populated.
3.In my understanding it's possible through a BDC recording through T.code SHDB and befor this activity discuss the same with
your ABAP consultant as it involves some text items too.
    check and revert back.

  • Hi would like to know if i can use any windows 7 for bootcamp or do i need to buy a certain one? Also is it recommended to upgrade my ram?

I am trying to bootcamp my MacBook Pro (late 2011 model) and i need help. on what windows 7 to get and how much ram to upgrade

Assuming that you have the 15" Late 2011 MBP - MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) - Technical Specifications, you can go up to 16GB RAM. From the base 4GB to 8GB and then 16GB.
If up plan to switch between OS X and Windows, 4GB may be sufficient, but if you plan to use both simultaneously using a Virtualization solution, then more RAM helps.
From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions
Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 5.1?
    You can use:
    Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1 (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1 Pro (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Enterprise versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 are not supported.
Are 32-bit versions of Windows 7 and 8 supported?
No. Boot Camp 5 supports 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8.0 and 8.1 only. Boot Camp 4 supports 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Windows 7, depending on the Mac model you have. For more information, see Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • Which Mac Pro for Bootcamp / Aperture 2

Im planning on buying a Mac Pro from apple's refurb store. Was wondering if it is worth it to pay $400 more for the eight core 2.8 vs the quad core 2.8? I'll mainly use the computer for Aperture 2.0 to work with 10-14mb RAW files, Windows Vista on bootcamp and the usual office 2008 / safari / itunes. Will I have an advantage in terms of speed by buying the 8 core model?
In both cases I plan to have 8GB Ram and a WD 640GB Caviar Blue drive and the ATI 3870 gradually.

    http://www.barefeats.com/octopro3.html - 8 vs 4-core
    http://www.barefeats.com/harper10.html - Motion 3 RAM Preview graphics
If you wanted to upgrade to 8-core later, it would cost more, not supported, and you might have to buy a pair of cpus, I'd spend the $400.

  • Anywhere know where i can get windows 7 for bootcamp for cheap

i want to game. know where i can get windows 7 for cheap

Some games work fine in Virtualbox, which itself would save money since there is less risk of losing data than installing Boot Camp.  Regardless before you install anything backing up is essential.   Many games are available for the Mac through CrossOver which itself is cheaper than a fully licensed Windows.  See my FAQ * http://www.macmaps.com/macgamepages.html
Lastly, what country are you from?  The cost of Windows varies worldwide.

  • Buying new iMac 3.06 which windows program for boot camp to get

I am buying a iMac 3.06 and their is a deal to get boot camp with several windows options:
Vista, XP versions either standard or premium or pro versions.
I am retired and do not have any need for windows. once in a while someone sends something that I cannot open in e-mail and my grandson has a PC with standard vista.
If it were not a nominal charge I would not even consider it.
Any thoughts about which windows program to go with,
    Greg

Your system and needs sounds like you might want to forgo native dual-boot of Windows and invest in Parallels or Fusion, both are virtual machines so you can run Windows inside OS X, side by side.
Or you might just need a program like OpenOffice, NeoOffice. I'd wait and see if OS X can help you manage files. Or tell us what type of files you need to view. Your iMac comes with iWork which can open some files. You may not need Office for Mac or Windows.
XP tends to be common choice and just 32-bit with SP2 (or later).

  • What version of Windows 7 for bootcamp?

Hi, ive found many games I want to play are pc only, and I have the new 21.5 inch Imac. So I have turned to trying Bootcamp. So I was wondering what version of Windows 7 is best for bootcamp? And a link would help greatly too!
    Thanks!

32-bit sees 3.5 GB RAM max.
64-bit Home sees 16 GB RAM max.
64-bit Pro sees 192 GB RAM max, and has an XP mode for older programs.
64-bit Pro may not be worth the extra cost for your situation.

  • Versions- Which One Worked For You?

All my iTunes versions worked wonderfully for several years until I upgraded to v7.4.
What was your best iTunes version that did what you wanted without ruling your computer? I can't remember my version before v7.4. (Yup,, I'm stupid.)
All I need is my music library, iStore for new music, radio URL's, and multiple speakers.
Not much to ask and my previous version did every thing GREAT. BUT,, like a dumb, take things for granite that all will be OK, trusting duffus, I installed v7.4 and my world of daily music, either play lists or radio went away. (I changed on August 23, 2007)
What version worked for you???? I'm thinking that either v6.0.5 or v7.0.2???
I just need to go back to a "Plain Jane" version. I don't need all the "bells & whistles". V7.4 seems to be completely in control of my computer.
    Sorry to ramble.........

    Robert,
Man,,,, Thanks for the input! I thought I was living on the Moon. None of my other posts were responded to.
Hey,, The Library is the least of my worries. I've become a "pro" at removing a version and reinstalling. At this point "PlayLists" are not a priority. I just need to get back to where I was.... Meaning radio URL's connecting.
I think that to do a "go-back-to-earlier-version" I'll wind up re formatting my hard drive 'cause I've tried to revert to v6.0.5, but the uninstall for v7.4 doesn't clean up all the little traces of v7.4.
Oh well, I love iTunes and I'll try your version......
Again, I really thank you for responding.........

  • Lion is unable to connect to the internet to download the windows drivers for bootcamp...how do I fix this?

I have just bought a new Macbook Pro, running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2. I don't have any restore discs (obviously) being that they don't come with the macbooks anymore. I keep getting an error message when I try to download the drivers using the bootcamp assistant, telling me that the assistant can't connect to the internet, and asks me if I want to troubleshoot, despite being connected just fine. I'm not running any type of firewall that would prevent a connection for the assistant and am at lost as to what the issue could possibly be. Would be appreciative of any assistance here.

Thanks for that, it worked the moment I did that....of all things who would have thunk it?
I'm happy it worked, Thanks for the star.

  • Which Windows version for MacBook Air?

I need to run an existing PC data base program on my new MacBook Air. I have been told I need to buy and install a previously unregistered copy of Windows and a Windows compatible antivirus program. My question is will the new Windows 8.1 be the best choice?  And what is a acceptable antivirus program for this application?

    hi there,
depends on how old your MacBook Air is. You need the correspondig Bootcamp utilities. There seem to be some problems with Windows 8.1 on several generations of MacBook (Pro and Air), not sure whether the Bootcamp driver set from OS X Mavericks has solved those problems yet. So installing Windows 7 or 8.0  might be safer.
There are many AntiVirus programs for Windows to choose from varying in bpth price and functionality.

  • Do you need to have windows 7 for bootcamp

I have the new mac book pro.I downloaded microsoft office 2011 for mac from our educational site thus i did not have to buy any windows software. I do not have windows 7. Is there any way around having bootcamp without having to buy windows 7. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi hbeehan,
If you have the just released MacBook Pro (with the Thunderbolt port) then you have to run Windows 7 if you decide to go the Boot Camp route. Apple has dropped driver support for XP/Vista with your machine -

Thanks Jason, I wasn't aware of that.

  • My Mac doesn't detect my windows DVD for bootcamp, help?

hi , i just grab my Windows 7 DVD for installing windows on Mac using bootcamp , but my mac doesn't detect my windows installation disc in boot menu... how to resolve?

You're not alone - I'm installed Windows (8 Pro 64-bit) on a MacBook Air Mid 2013 yesterday from the OEM/system builder media, and Boot Camp Assistant 5.0.4 didn't recognize the DVD. It asked for an .iso disk image instead, and I created one in a UNIX geek way**, but if you're an average mac user, you'll want to create one using the Disk Utility:
    1) Open the Disk Utility. This is in the Utilities folder (go to a finder window and type command-shift-u)
    2) Click on your DVD to select it.
    3) In the File menu, select New -> Disk Image from "HRM_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5"… (or your Windows disk title)
    4) In the Save sheet, select Image Format: DVD/CD master. The Disk Utility saves this with the file extension/type .cdr, but this is the same file format as .iso. When the Disk Utility has finished, find the file you save and change the file extension to .iso.
    5) Launch Boot Camp Assistant and select the .iso file as the source of your Windows installation.
Since I have a MacBook Air, the windows source was copied by the Boot Camp Assistant to a USB flash drive. MacOS X restarted and Windows was installed automatically, but the Boot Camp driver installer wasn't automatically launched at the end of the Windows install. I opened the flash drive's BootCamp folder and double clicked setup.exe.
Voila! The best trackpad anywhere! Network! Sound! Brightness control from the keyboard! The best Windows 8 computer!
** In Terminal: diskutil list; diskutil unmount /Volumes/HRM_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5; sudo dd if=/dev/disk2 of=win8pro.iso. Use the output of 'diskutil list' to match your Windows 8 CD/DVD to a disk# for the 'dd' command. Be very careful.
