Which WLC interface should be resolved from cisco-lwapp-controller.domain

Hi,
we use several 4402 wlc and want the aps connect to connect to them via dns discovery.
It would be fine if somebody could tell me to which ip address (in our dns database) I have to add an alias for cisco-lwapp-controller.<domain>.
Is it the management interface, the ap manager interface or one/all dynamic interface(s)?
Is there any hint concerning this in the documentation?

You configuration is not correct. You can remove the line ‘domain-name CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.mydomain.com’ or replace it with ‘domain-name mydomain.com’ and configure the DNS server with both "CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.mydomain.com" and "CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER.mydomain.com" pointing to 172.16.00.25.
I suggest that you remove this line and forget about DNS and go for DHCP option 60 and 43 as you already have configured. You do not need both the DNS configuration and DHCP option 43.
Since you have configured ‘option 60 ascii "Cisco AP c1250"’ and ‘option 43 hex f104ac100019’ then your 1250s should try to associate with the controller 172.16.00.25.
Please post more of the syslog and look for events regarding DHCP option 43.
Is the address 172.16.00.25 for the WLC correct?

CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER

Hello,
I am trying to get this officeextend working.
I connected the ap and checked the H-Reap box and then officeextend and gave it a public ip. This public ip is NAT'd to the dmz controller on the firewall. (The dmz controller is 5508 running code 6.0.199.4)
I have connected this officeextend 1132 ap to a broadband connection and this gets an ip of 192.168.1.23 on its fa0 interface. all good till now.
when i console onto the officeextend 1132 AP, i get an error msg could not resolve Cisco-LWAPP-Controller.abc.uk....domain server (192.168.1.254) and Cisco-CAPWAP-Controller.home.uk...think it needs DNS set to the public ip on the local asdl box, is it ?
if this is the case, I am not sure if i can do this as this is controlled by the ISP

I have added this now scott on the management interface but still cant get the AP to join the controller. This AP is connected to a broadband wireless router connected back to a ADSL router that has the DNS settings
(also i cant see any traffic hitting on ports 5246 and 5247 on the firewall. so think this AP is not trying to go out )

LWAPP cannot translate cisco-lwapp-controller

Hi all:
I had add a hostname to DNS server as CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER . and i use my controller as a internal DHCP server , it will assign ip to a lot of vlan. My lightweigh ap cannot translate the cisco-lwapp-controller and other a record at DNS server .

Can you translate that on the local lan? Verify that the manamgement and ap-manager is configured for vlan "0" untagged and that the trunk port is setup with the native vlan of the WLC management and ap-manager interface. If you console in the ap and power cycle the ap, what does the log show. Post the log so we can take a look at it.

go to swype's website. they have an open beta version right now and i loaded it on my inc and it worked great. it's not an official app in the market. you have to get it from swype themselves. you register and they email you instructions. it's real easy to download and install though.

So I recently purchased a brand new MBP, and am pleased to discover that my Tascam US-122 that I have been working with for the past 8 years (and four computers) has finally stopped being compatible with my computer. That, then, gives me the task of purchasing a new interface.
The last major recording project I did, I tracked drums on a Presonus Firestudio Tube, and I loved it. I'm willing to make the investment in a heftier interface, with more audio inputs and (obviously) a higher price tag, but I am caught in the question of whether to get a FireWire or USB interface. I have heard different upsides and downsides about the two of them. Personally, at this point, I am more inclined to go with a FireWire interface, as it leaves me with both of my USB ports (which I use for a mouse and midi controller while recording), and I have never had latency issues with FireWire (even on a 4-year old MacBook).
So now, I am asking for input. I am not brand-specific or anything like that. I just want one that works, sounds good, and won't give me trouble.

There is no way to answer your question. You need to look at what you will be running and then select the computer that will be the best for those applications.

On which interface should i open ports?

Got a case from a customer. They want me to open some ports so that one client can use some applications.
The problem is, I am not sure on which interface i should open the ports. The customer have about 10 interfaces on the ASA. It's a client on the inside network and it should be able to talk to internet through the ports, and anyone on the internet should be able to reach the client on the same ports.
The client uses a static IP.

Hi,
You need to map the flow of traffic for your customer. That way you can plan the changes without breaking anything.
It could be as simple as creating ACL's for the inside and outside interfaces + nat or something more complex.

Cisco 3702i running on a WLC 8500 Drawing low power from 2960s

Hi ..
I keep getting alarm errors in Prime 2.1.
"Access point 'AP01' associated with controller 'WLC-01'
draws low power from Ethernet. Failure reason: 'The AP draws 15.4
watts from Ethernet'.
Prime is running version 2.1
WC is a 8500 running software version 7.6.120.0
2960s is a WS-C2960S-48FPD-L running Version 12.2(55r)SE
I have all ready done the following & still getting the same results :
1)Used the port command "power inline port maximum 30000
2)check & unchecked the box marked pre-standard power
3)Enabled CDP on the AP and PoE+ Switch
4)check & unchecked "Pre-Standard State" and "Power Injector State"
Any help with this would be most appreciated .

PoE (16.8 or 20W), may intermittently see their power draw simultaneously
drop to 15.4W.
At the same time, the APs will each log a message similar to the following:

AIR-LAP1252AG-A-K9 (001e.bead.7c5f)
Conditions:
Another AP in the AP1252's broadcast domain intermittently transmits
a CDP packet to a bogus multicast address (i.e. one other than
0100.0ccc.cccc), such as fdc8.a414.cccc.
Workaround:
On all of the access-ports to which the APs are connected, configure
a mac access-group that filters out non-IPv4 multicasts that are not
addressed to valid multicast MAC addresses.
For example:
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config)#mac access-list extended WOOF
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config-ext-macl)#deny any any
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config-ext-macl)#int gig1/2

Further information: So far two TAC cases have been reported to Cisco matching
this bug. In both cases only one Access Point was transmitting these CDP
packets causing all other Access Points to drop the power consumption. In both
cases an RMA was done for the faulty Access Points.
If you require any help in isolating whether you are facing this bug on your
deployment please open a TAC Service Request.

Automatic MAC account creatation from Cisco WLC

We are creating a BYOD network, have any of you tried this?
1) First time user attempts to connect to byod_ssid they are presented with captive portal page that requests AD credentials. In the back ground users MAC address needs to be captured.
2) All subsequent connections to byod_ssid are MAC authenticated.
I am not finding any documentation on this process from the Cisco side. What do you think? Is it possible?

you may do this via DRW on ISE
configure ssid with mac filtering, then on ise confignauthz rule with redirect to drw... register your device... CoA sent by ise... connect again and should work
