Which WM should I choose? (maybe Awesome?)

Hi all,
is a bit of time that I realized that Windows is not for me, but just last week I started to try to replace him.
I installed Arch Linux on VirtualBox,and I tried Gnome 3 (which does not please me at all, unless I put it in fallback mode...), mate (which would be gnome 2, I think I understood) and Xfce.
For any DE I've tinkered a bit on, putting all the basic programs and an acceptable graphics (and for acceptable I mean cool, I have pretty high standards ... ù.ù). On GNOME 3 and 2 I have tried compiz, then I have seen videos of Awesome and Openbox (and Fluxbox), and especially the first is really awesome!! I would try it, but if I follow guides that I found for now, I have only awful results....
Ok, I have dwelt too much, here are my questions:
- Do I have omitted any good DE?
- What differences are there between Openbox and Fluxbox? I heard that one is more tied to the "father" Darkbox, while the other has posted it ... but in terms of using what changes?
- To make Awesome I sould install previously Gnome (or Xfce, etc...) to make it appear visually noticeable, or it all depends on what I write in the configuration file? (The first option is a bitstrange, in my opinion, because at this point is no longer a light-weight interface!! But if the second were true, why even copying settings that I find around, my results aren't at all what they see them? Have I to install other programs to run themes?)

1) Check out the Arch wiki pages and homepages for every window manager you're interested in. This is absolutely the best advice you can hope for; everyone's just gonna tell you to use what they enjoy, and they enjoy it because it fits their needs, and you won't know what fits your needs without trying it. Avoid the hassle and time wasted on the forums and research and try the WMs yourself; you'll eventually fall in love with something (and maybe have a few flings on the side ).

Folks who use Awesome and other minimal/tiling WMs do not have high standards for "cool graphics." Sure, we like things to look good, but we find the minimalist aesthetic cool on its own, and it's more about what those tools can do for us than how they look. Minimal WMs don't have any fancy effects or animations, don't provide any slick themes, and some of them won't accept anything but monospaced console fonts. If any of that sounds distasteful, then maybe they're not for you; about the fanciest thing I've seen a stand-alone window manager provide are Openbox's window borders.

No, Photoshop is, assuming you are speaking of CS4 and are concerned about hardware accelerated features like the soft zoom or 3D features in PS Extended. Those only work with NVidia or ATI cards. If you can live without those features, it doesn't matter which system you get. The only critical factor then becomes RAM - the more, the better. One word of warning on the way: Make sure, your laptop supports the minimum system requirements in terms of screen resolution. If not, you may not even be able to install the software let alone use it.

Many people seem to be confused by that incomplete, brief wording on the Cloud plan page.

If you need 3 or more apps then the full Cloud membership (Individual Complete plan) is the way to go.

When I launch Disk Utility, I'm asked to select a disk, volume, or image. I'm enclosing a photo of my hard drives. For instance, if I wanted to repair disk permissions on "Hard Disk," there appear to be two choices. Choice one: Hard Disk icon. Choice two: Hard Disk icon and number 74.5 GB ST380021A

Niel is correct, for repairing permissions etc you can use ether...
The upper icon (ST380021A) represents the device, the icon underneath it (Hard Disk) represents a partition, (you can divide the disk up into multiple partitions)
If you select the device, actions will affect all partitions, (i.e. fix permissions on all partitions on that device) whereas selecting an individual partition will only affect that one partition.
One thing that breaks this is the partition tab, which applies to the current device and all of it's partitions even if you are only selecting one if it's partitions.

if you said you were looking to create motion graphics and comps (bumpers, titling and ad's) for a video company or local television station, AE would be a really good match (Shake would likely require additional motion graphics help (like  Motion and perhaps even audio and edit applications as well.)
However, if you are a film student and intend to learn and create composite images for film (and video) then your choice is also as clear, absolutely, Shake.

you won't find ready-to-use application programs for free on OTN. You can download databases,application servers,utilities and so on.
At least you need a database, then you have to program your application or to get it from another source.

here is the reason why i choose the illustrator forum:
in the next few days i will buy a new laptop. i got already one. its a dell precision M90 and its like my mainlaptop. the new one will be a 13" vostro from dell.
here is my question:
i will use the 13" laptop in university for writting emails, internet, open office and this adobe-programms: photoshop, indesign, acrobat an ILLUSTRATOR.

now i have to make a decision. which graphic-card should i take?

Which imac should i choose?

I have the option between 2 imacs, and i would really like some opinions on which one to purchase, both prices for both imacs are the same. (About $1700) I'm a college student, who uses final cut pro a lot for videos, and i am also a gamer, so i will be playing games on my mac as well.
Option 1:
* The standard 21 inch 2.9 GHZ, Nvidea Geforce GT 750m, with ONE of the following: a Fusion Drive, 16G Ram, or the i7 Processor. ( I cant afford all 3, so if this is a better option, please tell me which one i should choose)
Option 2:
* The 27 inch, 3.2 GHZ, Nvidea Geforce GT 675m.
To sum it up, option one has a better Nvidea, and i can choose one of the 3 accesories, while option 2 is a larger screen, and a higher GHZ.

My personal choice would be option 2.
You can purchase extra ram from a reputable supplier far cheaper than adding it to your order, I have just 10 minutes ago upgraded my 8gb to 16gb for £70.00. It is very easy to do.
Option 1 no user upgrade possible.
RAM over CPU speed every time for me.
27' loads of screen to work with.
Conclusion: Buy base 27" and spend you money on third party ram, do not forget to factor in the cost of a backup harddrive.
