Which word processor should I download?

Hello.
Should I download OpenOffice.org or NeoOffice.org? Which one is the better and more reliable one? Which one has more features? Would you recommend another word processor for my iMac?
Thank you.

Hi,
Hello.
Should I download OpenOffice.org or NeoOffice.org? Which one is the better and more reliable one? Which one has more features? Would you recommend another word processor for my iMac?
I am running both of them on my Macs and both run fine without issues and do what I want from them.
For a Word processor only have a look at AbiWord http://www.abisource.com/
Thank you.
You're welcome.

with an iphone 3G the most up to date ios is 4.2.1 so you have a problem because whatsapp requires a higher version.  If you saved an earlier version of whatsapp you could install that otherwise you cannot use the app.  You will need to get a more up to date phone

which version of adobe should be downloaded for a kindle fire 7 hd with linux?

To the best of my knowledge you are restricted to what ever applications from the Kindle store. There are few Adobe products other than Reader that have been approved by Amazon for their store. In fact, they offer more apps on their andriod store for other manufacturers than they do on their own Kindle store.

go to swype's website. they have an open beta version right now and i loaded it on my inc and it worked great. it's not an official app in the market. you have to get it from swype themselves. you register and they email you instructions. it's real easy to download and install though.

  • Which Java SDK should I download? 1.3.1 or 1.4.1 or 1.4.2

    Hi all,
    newer user..
I have always wanted to ask this.
    Which one?
    Why more than one supported?
    Is 1.3.1_8 compatible with 1.3.1_02?

Why I asked this question is I am having trouble supporting 2 or 3 java programs that have been "compiled" under different releases.
Cisco Works only works with M$ JVM and Suns JVM 1.3.1 (needs both) but no higher. Another program called 'something' was compiled under 1.2 and performance sucks because of something different between 1.2 and 1.3.1 .
I wish I could recompile but that is not an option. I guess I could load 3 different JVM's but is that even possible with such a wide variety?
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Which JAVA program should I download?

I'm new to JAVA, can someone please tell me a good tutorial and program to create JAVA applets on?

If you're new to Java, I suggest that you start first using simple text editor like Windows Notepad or Edit.com, because it may help you familiarize the Java language. Even though it's time-consuming, its worth, you can have a strong understanding about the Java language.
You know what Im having difficulties to say what I wanted to say because you know speaking English is my second language, so, to make it clear what I wanted to say, I will tell you a short story, so you listen...
"I have a friend (shes new to Java and shes studying from other college school), she's using an IDE <software and company name is hidden / protected>, and yes that IDE is absolutely help her save her time developing her java program the program is finished time comes she need to package her program for defense packaging was successful but when she run and test her program into one of the schools computer her program throws a bunch of exception (<software.company.********Tracker not found>) that isnt occur when shes running her program on her own PC (at home). She asked for my help (15mins before defense) and 50% of the program crippled. I found that that IDE shes using is semi-propriety and in the end, what happen is her group is assigned for re-defense, her time is not saved it is wasted."
So be aware of the possible hidden price of time-saving routines and always be aware of what your IDE is doing under the cover. Also, your understanding might be impaired and you might feel helpless when you called on to debug your code in a computer with a minimum of tools without those cute IDEs. Am I right? Correct me if Im wrong. God bless you all ^_^
For tutorial, see reply by kevljo.
    Thank you!

  • The current operating system on my MacBook Pro is 10.5.8.  I would like to upgrade it so I can use iCloud.  Which newer version of OS should I download?

Would like to use iCloud, but am currently using OS 10.5.8 with my MacBook Pro.  Which newer OS should  I download?

    Yes.
Get the Snow Leopard install DVD (Amazon etc...)
Use software update to get Snow Leopard 10.6.8
In Snow Leopard, you will have App Store application under the Applications folder
Launch the App Store app - it will use your Apple ID to set up purchases and payments
    Search for OS X Lion
Purchase Lion - it will download and install automatically over Snow Leopard
    NOTE 1:
Make sure you backup whatever is necessary. That should go without saying.
    NOTE 2:
Your Mac will likely be able to run Mountain LIon which is coming out in a couple of weeks.
I think, if you buy hte Lion now, you might be eligible for free upgrade to Mountain Lion.
If not, I'd hang on until ML is out, then buy it - that would be my preferred solution
Here is some info on upgrading and eligibility...

    You should use
SQL Server 2014 Express with Tools 64 Bit
This package contains the core SQL Server database along with the tools to manage SQL Server instances including SQL Server Express, LocalDB, and SQL Azure. If you need Reporting Services or Full text search, use SQL Server Express with Advanced Services.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/Products/sql-server-editions/sql-server-express.aspx
Because it has everything you need.
Also check out Azure SQL Database http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/sql-database/, which you can also use for production and you don't have to run a SQL Server VM.

  • Best word processor?

Any recommendations as to which word processor is best for Mac?

There is no best WP for any computer...there is a best WP for you but without knowing your circumstances we cannot give any meaningful advice. MS Word is great if you need 100% MS compatibility but it has a high learning curve and is more than a little frustrating to use. Pages (part of Apple's iWork suite) is very nice though it has a bit of a learning curve too. Mariner Write is quite good as are the two Nisus offerings. These are just a few of your choices. The good news is that all of them can be downloaded and tried out (and an MS Office tryout should already be on your computer).

  • Word Processor for Air

Which word processor would anyone recommend for the Air? Do any support power point?
    Thanks...

Pages is Apple's own Word Processor for the Mac, and is available in the Mac App Store. Keynote is Apple's presentation application, and is similar to Powerpoint. Apple's entire suite is called iWork and contains Pages, Keynote and Numbers (spreadsheet, similar to MS Excel)
Microsoft Word is part of the Microsoft Office suite for Mac. Most versions of Office also contain PowerPoint presentation software.
OpenOffice is a free Office suite, and a pretty darned good one and supports PowerPoint. Download here.
I have all three suites on my Mac, and I have to say since I've been using Microsoft Office for so long, it happens to be the group of apps I use the most out of the three.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2007 which sometimes goes berserk writing the letter 'h' in a word processor. It stops when I hit the delete key for a while. Also can't use the letter 'h' in a word processor. The computer makes a fast tapping sound when not in a doc, in any application or in the finder or when a application is running. Sometimes when this is happening I cannot control the cursor. I have to hit the 'delete' key to proceed. Does anyone know anything of this?

hello new to Mac, what is a word processing system compatible with Word for school reports? Thank you

    schmidt.mad wrote:
what is a word processing system compatible with Word for school reports?
The important word here is "compatible". How compatible?
Remember that you meet here people from all parts of the world, who've gone to many different schools and in times very different from yours. They may not be at all familiar with what your school requires; of course, different schools may have different requirements. I know of a school where instructors comment on reports, and expect students to reply, using the "Track changes" feature. But this feature, indispensable for them, may be of no interest to you.
So, how compatible? Full compliance with "Track changes", for instance? Is there any math involved? Or just the ability to open Word docs, even if page breaks, and other features will be lost? The more detailed you are, the more accurate the replies will be.
The most compatible is… Microsoft Word. You can pick up the student edition of Office 2011 (Mac) for USD 90 from Amazon -- maybe cheaper elsewhere.
Next in compatibility are OpenOffice, LibreOffice, and NeoOffice. They are very similar, because all descend from the StarOffice suite, and their word processing modules offer high degree of compatibility with Word, but not full compatibility (for instance, "Track changes" is not entirely compatible).
NeoOffice is the most Mac-like, but you have to pay a (relatively small) fee to download it. The other two are completely free; LibreOffice seems to be under most active development at present, so that's the one I'd choose, but they're pretty much interchangeable in terms of features. Although both OO/LO are 'native', in the sense that X11 is no longer required, their interface (buttons, palettes, lists, some menus) feels strange and rather rough, and that's because, unlike NeoOffice, by and large they don't use specific Mac interface features (Aqua).
There are a good many other Mac word processors. Most offer the ability to open (or import) and save as (or export to) the Word format, with varying degrees of success. In most cases, the more complex features in Word, such as page breaks, footnotes, fields, formulae, are not well supported or not supported at all. For instance, Pages, which has already been mentioned more than once, is reasonably compatible with Word, but its manual warns,
"Because of text layout differences between Microsoft Word and Pages, an exported Word document may contain a different number of pages than its Pages counterpart. Also, special typographic features and some graphics may not display as well, particularly those using transparency (alpha channels). Tables and column layouts may not export identically."
So, what you need to do is to make a list of Word features you will need your word processor to honour, figure out your bugdet, and then check which one of the many Mac word processor best fits your needs.
