Which would be a better purchase, Zen Touch or Zen Mic

Okay for christmas this year I am asking for an mp3 player. Ive done my research and decided between the Zen Touch or Zen Micro so that I may take advantage of Napsters music downloading service. Now my delima is which would be a better purchase. Ive read reviews on amazon, epinions, and cnet. As far as the Micro goes its a love/hate type of thing while i've read only good reviews of the Touch. Now the Touch doesnt seem as popular and for what reason I dont know. Also i've noticed the Micro has a great number of more accessories than the Zen Touch. Now taking into consideration accessories and durability which would you say is the better LONG term purchase?
-Thanks

If you are planning on using subscriptoin music, I would go with the Touch, as it is a 20GB player and you have unlimited music to download (more space=more music )
Don't get it wrong, the Micro is awesome, I would have got it if I didn't have so much music.
And my guess as to why the Touch is not as popular as the Micro is that people don't like the way it looks and it's size (which is understandable, because of it's 24hour battery).
The Touch is also a great value, because it comes with an AC power cable (the Micro used to come with this when it first came out, but now it is sold separatley), and a carrying pouch (I replaced mine with a better because you can't aceess the MP3 player while it is in the pouch, making it a bit inconvenient). On top of it all, the 20GB version sells for around $200. And with the new firmware, the "over-sensiti've" touchpad that many reviews claim is now taken care of, and it is as easy to use as the Zen Micro's touchpad .
All in all, it is down to what you want:
a 5GB MP3 player that looks cool and comes in 0 different colors
or a 20GB player that comes with a few extra acessories. Both are around the same price (the Micro may be $20 cheaper, if it is on sale).

  • Which would be the better choice?

    I am presently using a EOS T3. What would be the better choice for an upgrade?  A T4i, T5i or 60D?
    Solved!

    Good.
    One thing you don't have is a wide aperture lens. With the savings plus just a bit more you should treat yourself to a 50mm f/1.4, or for just $100 get a 50 f/1.8. They do almost magical things wide open and close to a subject. Subject is isolated, background is blurred bokeh, background lights are big round disks. Plus they are great in low light. Too fun.

  • Which would be the better approach?

    Hello!
    I'm a working java professional, but has taken on some courses on the local University.
    Of course there is a difference in how things are solved in theory and practise, but it makes
    me wonder what the "best" solutions to some problems are...
    Consider the following structure:
    class Book{
       private List chapters;
    class Chapter{
       private List pages;
       private Book book;
       public Book getBook(){
          return this.book;
    class Page{
       private List chars;
       private Chapter chapter;
       public Chapter getChapter(){
          return this.chapter;
    class Char{
       private Page page;
       public Page getPage(){
          return this.page;
       public void method(){
          // blabla
    }Check out the "method" in class Char. Say I would like to have a reference to the Book that this character is in. I would say that I have two choices:
    1. call getPage().getChapter().getBook()
    2. put a getBook() in each of the classes
    Where I come from it is a bad thing to "expose structure", the first example exposes structure.
    But, it is also a bad thing to let classes do things that they aren't responsible for (cohesion).
    What solution would you prefer?

    Hi!
    With getPage().getChapter().getBook() surely you are having too high coupling and also exposure.
    In just one code line you are coupling to three classes and also violating twice De Meter assumption about not accessing class internal structures as character accesses to chapter through Page and to Book through Chapter.
    The problem is in the main design idea i think...you are just designing data structures as if you would be designing db entities, with double dispatches between all classes as you would connect db tables with joins but this ends with no real reusability, think to this.... you can't reuse any of your classes without carrying all of the others.
    For example why a character should be linked to a book, a character can be an actor of many books but it's not connected to a specific book. A character class should be reusable in movies, lyrichs, books, dreams. Why you want a Chapter to know what is a book?? In concrete that means that every time you modify the book class you must recompile also the chapter cause it's directly connected to the book class and also you can use your Chapter class only within your Book class, it's not reusable at all.
    You want to search characters within books? ok you just need an external components that will enter the library and ask to any book what's it about and which characters play in it if it is a characters book,
    so everyone will just expose services for the data it's responsible for.

  • What would be a better choice between a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air?

    I will be starting college next fall as a neuroscience major and I am torn between purchasing a MacBook Pro vs. a MacBook Air. Which would be a better choice considering I would be using it to take notes, creating documents, presentations etc.? I am not a person involved in heavy gaming, or major creative things. Just simple stuff but I do however spend countless hours doing research. Help!

    Personally the Airs have no appeal for me. Limited hard drive space (actuall no hard drive, it is all flash storage space) which can not be upgraded.
    Airs are to small unless you get the 13" model and for that money you can get a nice 13" MBP or even a 15" model.
    For me an Air would be a second or third computer but not my only computer.

  • Confused about which would be best. Is there a site I can quickly compare airport express, airport extreme and time capsule?

    I'm confussed about which would suit me better and was looking for a comparison chart to quickly see the differences of each. Is there a site I can quickly compare the Airport Express, the Airport Extreme and the Time Capsule? The Time Capsual is a little more obvious seeing as it lets one back up one's hard drive, but I'd still like to see it's other features in comparison.

    There is. Look at the AirPort Express page....Mac > Accessories > AirPort Express.... or look here:
           Compare Apple Wi-Fi base stations          AirPort Express    AirPort Extreme    Time Capsule

  • I am a teacher needing to replace my MacBook pro which would be best, retina display or non retina? I can afford either one.

    I am a teacher, and I am looking to replace my Mbp. I can afford either the retina or nonretina. I am trying to decide which would be the better one to get. Any opinions are appreciated.

    isn't that the same as the macbook air that you're pushing?
    what do you think a mb pro retina is?  It's a macbook air on steriods.
    we're getting out of topic on what the op wanted.
    the op wanted opinion.  the op didn't ask that we blast the Retina Version.
    in any event, I bought one because I want one.  Do I need it? **** no.  Do I want it yes.  Huge difference.
    If people can afford it, who are we to tell them what they should or shouldn't buy?
    Our job here in this discussion is to weight the pro's and con's.  Not to trash which model is better than the other.

  • Which laptop should I buy that would run AE better?

    I'm debating between two HP laptops. I like the one better due to it's smaller size and higher resolution, but i'm a little worried that the i5 won't handle as well as I'd like.
    The one i think I want to buy: http://www.amazon.com/HP-dm4-3090se-14-0-Inch-Screen-Laptop/dp/B006OEL9GU
    PROS: 1600 x 900 resolution, no dedicated graphics card = good battery life, 32GB SSD Drive, light weight + portable
    However, would I be better off getting http://www.amazon.com/Hewlett-Packard-BrightView-Fingerprint-SuperMulti/dp/B004S4DVTQ/ref= sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1331255057&sr=1-3 with the i7 processor and dedicated graphics? Downside is the resolution for the 15.6 inch screen is 1366 x 768, which would be really annoying to work with, correct?
    Keep in mind, I plan on upgrading either of the laptops to 8GB RAM anyway, seeing as a stick of 4GB is like $20 on newegg. Would the i5 really be a killer in my performance? the first laptop also has a 32GB SSD, used mainly for OS and cache, i'm not sure if it would even be noticed by AE. If I went with somethign else, i'd purchase a mommentus XT (Solid state hybrid drive) anyway.
    If any of you guys have any better suggestions for an ideal, travel friendly (I'd bring it to college classes + trips) AE-powered laptop for less than $1000, do share. I've spent a good couple hours trying to find the best investment.
    Thanks a ton!

    You need a dedicated graphics card and soon-ish you will need it even more... Those intel graphics are simply useless and too much trouble. That doesn't mean you should go with the secohnd machine, though. The system specs for the screen res do not even qualify to install, if I'm not mistaken... The processor is a non-issue. Even an i3 will be reasonably fast enough for many tasks and with so little RAM you won't be able to use MP rendering, anyway. Do a little more research and find a different model.

  • Samsung SCH-u370 vs. Kin TWOm ; Which would be better for the texter?

    So my plan is going to end in about two months so I decided to research some new feature phones online.
    Since I text often, I wanted a phone with a full keyboard, having a touch screen would be nice as well.
    The Samsung SCH-u370 isn't offered on at VZW anymore, but Bestbuy online still has a stock of it.
    The Kin TWOm looks like a very good phone (8MP camera, slide-out keyboard, etc.) but it didn't have good reviews for some reason.
    I mainly use my phone for texting, but will call for roughly 1-2 hours every other night during the week.
    Shelling out 50$ isn't a big deal for me, but free is always better.
    For the users that have experience with either phone or even both, which would you reccomend and why?
    P.S.
    - If they're any other keyboard feature phones coming out in the next two months, I would love to take them into consideration.
    Thank you so much!

    I have both.
    The u370 UI is much more polished, font sizes are great, you can adjust them. You can doodle/notate on pics. It's 3" resistive touchscreen. You can use finger nail or some dull pointer if touch is slightly off. I have not tested the e-mail/web browser as the phone doesn't have wi-fi and i don't have data plan. Music player is very basic, haven't tested video. No microSD card is included. The camera is 3MP, no flash, but there is night mode (more sensitive to light, but noisy images). You can doodle/notate over pics, great for making quick notes/directions. Because it relies on microSD for storage, you don't really need to use it with any specific software.
    Twom, some parts of the UI can frustrate some people. Font sizes are not adjustable, and there are many areas where the font is thin and small. The built in email client is text only, and it displays some html code rather than stripping them clean. But it does work over both 3g or wifi. The e-mail client's UI is simple, nice to use. You can do full webmail through the browser. You can type notes/comments on pics taken, no sketch pad. 3.4" capacitive touchscreen. That means you can't use fingernail or pointers. There is a Zune player with tegra1 hardware, which means audio and HD video playback. 8GB overall storage with about 6+ GB usable for storage. And you have to use the Zune desktop software to get data on/off the phone. 8MP camera with auto focus, image stabilization, and led flash. But no extras like b&w/sepia modes, etc, etc. The browser is good for mobile sites and small websites, but large websites takes a while to load. Overall it works well enough for basic html & css over wi-fi. Also keep in mind it's unlikely to get an update.
    I can't comment on texting as i don't have a text plan. The Twom keyboard is very tactile, you can hear it click, not mushy. If you really need a good browser on your phone, then you will need a smartphone. Between these two though, the Twom have the advantage in media, the u370 have the advantage as the easier to use phone. And it depends on how much you like/dislike the UI of either phone. The u370 have the more 'normal' UI. Whereas the Twom is more experimental looking, but cuts down the fluff.
    With either phone, make sure you disable 3g data.
    *Actually both keyboards are very good. The difference is the Twom have clicky plastic keys, and u370 have the noiseless rubbery keys. Both keyboards are top of their class. Each key is firm and it's not easy to accidentally click an adjacent key. Depends on which you prefer.

    Which is a better system/performance for the money? Which is better for moderate (2013 and earlier) gaming, video editing, XP mode, etc?
    Is the performance upgrade of the w541 over the t540p worth the money upgrade?
    Which will hold out better for 5-10 years? No CAD usage foreseen.  Would 32GB be necessary for the w541, or would 16GB be enough?
    The camera is something I would gladly do without; its presence is a drawback. Same for fingerprint reader.
    Thanks.
    (Edited to add)
    PS: If the t540p is the way to go, does it make sense, for a $55.00 price increase, to upgrade from a i5-4330m to an i7-4700mq? At that point, is the graphics card (Nvidia GT 730m) bottlenecking the processor, game, etc. so much that the CPU upgrade is a waste of money?

    I have the T540p with the i7-4700. It is a strong machine and a CPU upgrade to the 4700 is worth the $50. A 4700 will perform the same in either laptop.
    Grqphics cards are always the bottle neck. The GT730M can't do much so if graphics are a concern it's the W541. The W541 also has the new touch pad & thunderbolt, a bigger power supply and more of a workstation feel. That is attractive to me, but, if all you plan to do is spreadsheets and surf the T540p will go right through it.
    If it didn't break the budget I would do the W541 with the i7-4810 cpu and the K2100M. I would complain about the price but I think I'd be happier with that config over the next three years.
    Sixteen gig of memory should be good & focus on a fast boot drive.
    If you call in the order they may give a $50 discount, if you ask.

  • Considering purchasing Ipod Touch

    Hi,
    I posted previously, but recently thought of some new questions before purchasing. I am basically trying to decide between the Iphone or Ipod touch. I really don't want a huge bill every month. I am strongly considering the Ipod Touch to use as a PDA. I have found some links and such regarding using Ipod Touch as a phone, via VoIP. Has anyone tried this, does it work well?
    Also, does the Ipod Touch have bluetooth capabilities, i.e. hook up to the computer to transfer files and such without being tied down? I have Macbook with bluetooth and it would be great for the Ipod Touch to have bluetooth.
    Also, I recently discovered a link on the apple manuals site:
    iPod touch (with iPhone 2.2 Software) - User Guide
    And I am a bit confused - do all the Ipod Touches include this Iphone 2.2 software, or is this a special request I have to make when buying?
    Thank you for all the help. It's a big help for me. Have a nice weekend.

    I have a first generation iPod touch running the 2.2.1 software. No need for any "special request". When the new software update becomes available you can download it through iTunes when you connect your iPod touch.
    What kind of files are you trying to transfer? As of now you can't sync notes but I believe the 3.0 update will have that capability. For now you can email your notes to yourself.
    If you're close to an Apple store you can make a personal shopping appointment and they can explain all the details to you and you can play around with the products a bit.
    You can use the iPod touch to make calls if you are on a WiFi network. You can get Skype from the App Store (which is free) and set up an account. You can make free calls to other Skype users but if you want to call phone numbers you have to buy Skype credit. Keep in mind that you will only have that capability if you are connected through WiFi.

  • Questions about my library just moved to NAS.  Download errors.  Would USB be better?

    Thanks for reading.  My situation is that my itunes library is running about 500gb and I needed to get it off my imac.  I bought a 2TB NAS and copied the entire library folder to that drive and changed itunes to go there.
    What I'm finding is that downloading daily podcasts is a chore.  It's real slow.  I had to turn off simultaneous downloads and allow only a single download at a time.  Otherwise it would certainly beach ball.
    Also, buying anything from itunes seems to result in a "network reset" error and I have to sit there and click "resume" 2 or 3 times.
    I'm wondering if I've done something wrong?
    Would it be better if I spring for a 2.0 USB drive and keep it connected to my imac that way rather than going through the servers where the NAS is connected in the house?
    I also use this library to feed the apple TV that we use a lot.
    Thanks.

    I have a post on reorganizing things before attempting to move them from one computer to another which runs as follows:
    Make a split library portable
    Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
    In the layout above right, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links from the library to the media, and being self-contained it is much easier to backup and restore. (You do backup, don't you?).
    You can rearrange things to make a split library portable by taking a number of small steps which don't break the library.
    Before you start any media files that are outside of the media folder will need to be consolidated. If the library is in the old style layout then it should be upgraded to iTunes Media Organization (Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder <Media Folder>) to ensure that iPod Games, Mobile Applications etc. are brought inside the media folder, otherwise the links to these won't survive changes in the path of the library.
    The basic non-fatal manipulations are:
    You can create or connect to an alternate set of library files by holding down Shift (Win) or Option (Mac) when starting iTunes. (Note iTunes will continue to use this library until you use the same method again.)
    You can move the library files to a new location and connect to it there as long as the media stays put.
    You can move the library files and the media together if the media folder is a direct subfolder of the library folder.
    If you have already moved/copied the media content from a subfolder of the library folder to a different location then you only need to copy the library files for it to appear as if you have moved the entire library in the way allowed above. I.e. just copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder.
    You can rename the media folder to iTunes Media (if it isn't already) if the media folder is inside the library folder.
    iTunes uses the name of the folder holding the library files as the window title. Having made a library "portable" you may need to take a final step of renaming the library folder to iTunes or, if the library files have ended up at the root of a drive, moving all of the library files and content folders into a new folder called iTunes.
    IMPORTANT: After each change you need to open, test and close the relevant library before attempting another change. If a change broke the library, undo it or revert to using the previous set of library files.
    In essence all you need to do to join up a split library and make it portable is copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder on the external/secondary drive and use the hold-down-shift/option-when-starting-iTunes method to connect to it. Other manipulations may be required to normalize the library so that the library and media folders have standard names.
    In your case I'm suggesting that you can use 2. to relocate your library files to a faster internal drive while leaving the media on the NAS (splitting the library), and that you would then use 4. to join your split library back together again before attempting to move it to a different drive.
    After using 2. you would need to make sure that under iTunes Preferences > Advanced the media folder was pointed to iTunes Media on the NAS. There is also an issue with such split libraries that iTunes can sometimes reset the media folder if the NAS/external appears to be offline when iTUnes starts up.

  • What is better the iPod touch or the ipad 2?

    What is better the ipad touch or the ipad 2?

    If you are talking about the iPod touch 5th Gen, I think the iPod touch is the best bet. They both have the A5 Dual-Core Processor but the iPod touch has the 4-inch retina display (1024 by 640- Which is 326 Pixels per inch), is better in portability and had better camera. If you mean the iPod touch 4th Gen, that is tough but I think the iPod touch 4th Gen is better because even though the iPod touch 4th Gen has an A4 Single Core Processor, it has the 3 inch retina display (960 by 640- Which is also 326 Pixels per inch), the price is less and the camera is the same. So overall, the iPod touch is the best bet!

  • What is better, the iPod touch 5g or the iPad 2

    What is better the iPod touch 5g or the iPad 2

    I would have to say the iPod Touch 5th Gen. because its more portable and costs less but iPad have its own PROS like better internet surfing and you can do alot more things on it but the choice is yours. Oh and just a side note, I bet they are just gonna make a new iPad soon so if i were you stick with iPod Touch 5th Gen.
