While capturing

hi all,
I am wondering if people typically do other work on their computer while video is being captured. I have always thought it was a big NO but now I'm thinking maybe that's just a rule I made up in my own head.

Win XP BSOD while capture video on MSI GF FX 5900XT-VTD128

I have such a problem. While capture video (overlay mode, 720x576) very
often (but not always) Windows XP crashes on BSOD with the following error:

Software: Windows XP Prof SP1, DirectX v.9.0.b, Nvidia Nforce driver v.4.24
WHQL, Nvidia ForceWare driver v.56.72 WHQL (default settings), MSI WDM capture driver v.3.08 (late). Capture software: VirtualDUB, iuVCR and any other.
What anyone will advise me?

61.21 driver is a beta driver. its not 100%. wait until they release a full working driver. it will be released on http://www.nvidia.com.

Default vendor is coming in J1IG transaction while capturing excise invoice

Hi,
While capturing excise invoice at depot by using J1IG transaction, i am getting default custom vendor automatically.
This is for STO transfer i am capturing excise.
I have maintained some other custom vendor in the p.o.
Pls. let me know from where it is picking the default vendor?

Error message of Excise invoice has no matchin lines while capturing excise

hi CIN gurus
I ma facing a problem Whil capturing excise at depot. error message appearing as Excise invocie no matching lines.
This problem occurs even after entering appropriate internal number in J1IG.
And this problem is occuring randomly .
This occurs for STOCK TRANSFERS FROM DEPOT TO DEPOT.
CAN ANYONE COME OUT WITH SUGGESTION

Refer to SNote Note 1382678 - Pop-up to select Excise Invoice in J1IH/J1IIN cancellation.
Symptom
While cancelling outbound Excise Invoice through the transaction J1IH or J1IIN, system always picks up the first excise invoice even when multiple excise invoices are present with same excise number and year.

Though I have maintained the Nummber range for excise group and object.

Does anyone know how to monitor audio while capturing?

You might try posting in the FCE forum, very few Express users here in the Final Cut Pro forum.
In FCP, the function—and limitations—is clearly explained in the manual. I hope Apple's FCE manual and online help system are as thorough.

SETTING to hear AUDIO while CAPTURING?

Hi...
(another) silly settings question.
How can I hear audio while capturing from my HDV deck?
When capturing from a DV device (a camera), the 'preview' box enabled me to monitor the audio from the tape while either screening it or when capturing it.
I don't see that 'preview' box as an option in the HDV log and caputure window.
Although I'm capturing audio from the HDV source, I can't hear it while it's loading. It's a little annoying as I'd like to be able to hear the tape as a way to decide if it's even worth capturing.
Any ideas?

We're here all week, try the liver.
I've always been a believer in monitoring in the signal chain. Granted I don't work much with HDV-- but monitoring what is going into and out of the computer, rather than relying on the computer's built in audio seems to be the way to go. Then you know what's coming off the tape, and what's going back down to the tape.

Not able to get ECS & S&H value while capture J1IEX.

I was trying to capture excise through tax code - Eg:- 1A(BED- 10%, ECS-2%, & S&H-1% & VAT-4%). All the value flow in PO but not while capturing it in J1IEX only BED flow, ECS & S&H is not flowing. For the same Tax Code in other Plant & material its capturing all the duty (Depot plant & non-cenvatable). I have checked all the entries in J1ID but not able to fine the Problem for (Manf. Plant - Raw Material).

But the value are flowing from "TAX CODE"
Correct me - Condition maintained in TAXINJ are common to all plants?
What should be considered for excise flow for manufacturing?
In Manf. Plant - BED - OK, ECS - Not flowing, & S&H - Not flowing.
Helpme to solve this.

Wrong calculation in base value while capturing Excise IV(IMPORT)

Hi all,
any provision to correct base value while capturing EX IV for <b>imports</b>, in ECC 6.0
as note was released by sap for earlier versions.
will it hold good for this version also?

All Part 1 Entries Have been cancelled while Capturing PartII (J1iex)

While capturing part II system is prompting "all part 1 enteries have been cancelled" & not allowing to capture Part II. I have captured part 1 in MIGO & it is not been reversed also. In MIGO Excise duties have been enterd manually. Please provide your valuable Inputs.

System crashes while capturing in CS5

Recently installed Samsung Kies software for supporting my Galaxy cell phone. Same day Win7 started crashing while capturing video in Premiere Pro CS5. It crashes after random number of minutes capturing. There's no problem with any other aplication, Adobe or not, and Premiere Elements7 captures video with no problem at all. Uninstalled Kies but Win7 keeps crashing. Any experience with this combination of softwares?

But, I do not have and have never heard of "Kies" software
Generally speaking... if something works and then stops working when new software is installed... that is clear to ME that the new install is the problem
I always make a full boot drive image before installing anything
You should buy software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... which makes restoring very easy

Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

Is it Possible to Mark Chapter while capturing from camera?

While capturing from camera there are incidents (like obvious mis-speaks, etc.)that I would like to mark during the shoot when they happen to facilitate finding them while editing.
Is this possible to enter a chapter marker or something during live capture?
Open to any other suggestions.

I am using FCP 7.0.3.

After about a year of manually noting the time code and notes, I finally found a solution to the problem of marking chapters during a live shoot.
Final Cut Pro X will not allow you to mark a file while capturing it, probably because it does not actually change the raw file. However I just found a piece of software that will do the trick nicely. It is called Cut Notes. The only catch is that you must have an iPad to run it.

You start Cut Notes at the same time that you begin to capture, and it will start a timeline, identical to the one in FCP. Then for every edit point, you simply tap a key to insert the timecode along with either a pre-determined note or manually entered note as to the event. For example I have a note key that says MisSpeak, the opertator just taps it when I mis speak and it saves the time code and the MisSpeak title into a text file. I have another note key same for "walked off screen." You can Edit any number of note keys you may need. Then when finished, Cut Notes will email the file to your computer, simply import it to FCP as chapters using a free utility available at the same website. Awesome!!!
The only caveat is that you must import the file with markers before you do any editing to the project in FCP.

'Locating Timecode Break' while capturing

I got the software update that claimed it would fix the time code break error while capturing using Final Cut Pro. I'm using an AV Converter to do this. These are the setting I have it on, as recommended by the directions on the box the converter came in.
Device Control: Firewire NTSC
Capture.input: DV NTSC 48 kHz
Time code break usually occurs at around one minute, sometimes much later, other times almost instantly. I've got a legit copy of Final Cut Studio 2, and my converter always worked fine when I used it with Final Cut Express. Tried cleaning tape heads, but that didn't seem to have any effect. I'm open to any suggestions at this point, and I'm hoping it's just something simple that I might be overlooking.

check the following:
you are capturing to an external drive and not the sytem drive
capture settings for non-controllable device
correct version of Quick Time for your combination of FC Pro and Mac OS
the analogue to Firewire box settings (if any) are set to NTSC, for Firewire output and analogue input and set to composite or Y/C as appropriate

How do I follow a tutorial while capturing?

I know its a stupid question, and there are far more serious problems, but im trying to follow a web tutorial and capture at the same time on final cut pro, and I just can't seem to do both at the same time.
My buddie swears thats just the way it is, he says its like that on adobe premiere as well; that while you capture you cant do anything else, you cant even click on the desktop , or the capturing will stop.
but, in my experience using IMOVIE i can even browse the internet while capturing footage from a DV tape. I've followed and read the news while capturing an entire DV tape with imovie.
i find it difficult to read the tutorial on capturing while, lol, I'm capturing!
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Trying to do anything else on your computer while
you're capturing is not a good idea. Amoung other
things you risk dropping frames or even crashing so
I'd say the same things others are saying here which
is use one computer to capture and if you must surf
the net while capturing use another computer.
It's not a good idea now. For years I've done all kinds of work while capturing, such as photoshop, emailing, surfing, etc. No problems at all. I repeat. No problems at all. No dropped frames. No crashes. Then I installed FCP 5. Now my multitasking is gone and the cost to my business of me sitting here editing has been increased because the machine can only do one thing at a time. I know I must be missing something here.
