While downloading an ITunes upgrade, my Ipad froze. All I see is the Itunes logo and a picture of a USB cable. Everything is frozen. Tried resetting by holding down the wake button but I get no slider button. IPad is frozen.
While downloading an ITunes upgrade, my IPad froze. All I see is the ITunes logo and pic of a USB cable on my screen. Tried to hold down the wake button while connecting the USB cable to override it but no results. Still frozen with ITunes logo. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Force your iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

- all of a sudden today when we turn on the tv, apple tv is not coming up- just the itunes logo and a picture of a usb cable. What is wrong?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore. -

My iphone 4 locked up for several hours. i then tried to reset by holding down the home button and power button at the same time for 10 seconds and then the home button for 10 seconds. it is now completely black. what do i do? couldnt restore it in iTunes. Has anyone had this problem? Help!
Same thing happened to me today. I wasn't even using the phone for the past 6 hours and suddenly I can't connect to the internet, none of my internet apps would work - nothing. I tried to call AT&T from the iphone and it locked up - couldn't turn it off, change to the home screen - nada - brick.
Did the Home/Power button thing and that worked but this I've only had this phone for about 4 weeks and it's locked up more times than my 3GS did the whole two years I had it! Ridiculous -

Frozen itouch with the itunes sign with the charger going into it. I have held down both buttons for 10 seconds I have re ran the tests but itunes doesn't read it still
Put your phone in DFU mode. Connect it to itunes and hold down the power and home buttons at the same time for ten seconds. Then while keeping the home button pressed let go of the power button. Keep holding until a message pops up saying your phone is in recovery mode. Then sync it back up. This will erase everything from ipod and restore it back from itunes.

I have just tried to update my iphone 4 to iso 6, it got almost all the way through then froze. the only screen i get now is with the itunes icon and picture of a usb cable end. I can turn it on and off but not reboot or do anything else. Further more the computor now does not recognise the phone being connected/disconnected. Help please!
Follow the troubleshooting steps shown in item #5 at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538, under "If the device is not recognized while in recovery mode".

I had just checked my phone and it had 41% battery life left. A few minutes later, it simply went blank and won't do anything. I tried reseting it by pushing down on the wake/sleep button and the button on top until the Apple logo appeared, but that didn't help. Any ideas?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

It is asking me to restore my phone, won't that wipe out everything I have on my phone?
Yes it will but you can get rid of the screen not to worry. Go ahead and hold down the power button and the home button for 15 seconds(roughly). This will reboot your phone and when it boots up again it should be gone if your firmware isnt corrupted in someway. Hope this helps

So yeah...last night I was checking out my iPod (bored at the in-laws) and all of a sudden the screen went blank and the only thing I can get it to do is have the black screen w/ the white apple logo on it. It won't turn on, doesn't give the the option to power down, it won't charge, AND it's NOT being recognized when I plug it into my computer. Not by iTunes OR my computer. I've tried holding down the top button and the home button at the same time...nothing. And since it's not being recognized on my computer, I cannot restart it or go back to factory settings. Someone please help! I've had it for 18 months so the warranty is no longer valid and I don't know how to fix it. THANK YOU in advance!
- I would try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then see if iTunes will see the iPod. try both with the iPod not connected to the computer and with it connect. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- Next see if placing the the iPod in DFU mode will make it visible

I tried to update my ipod touch. When I did I got an itunes icon and a picture of a usb plug. I cannot do the update due to not having enough memory or backing up my ipod. Do you know how I can get this off my screen, so I can back up my ipod?
As fas as I know once that screen comes up you must connect it to your computer and restore with iTunes

I restored it a couple of times and it still comes on with the apple logo then immedialtly goes to the iTune + arrow. It will not go anywhere else. I did adjust my computer to allow the update but still nothing on the iphone. Now one more message comes up on my computer that says iphone is still restoring

please help me, i dont know whats wrong
This means your iPod is in recovery mode, try restarting the device agian (Hold the home + Power button for 10secounds), if the device goes back to this screen you will need to plugg it into your computer and most likely have to put all your content back on the device and restore from a backup
If you have any questions feel free to ask

My 4s is locked on the iCloud back up screen. It will not reset by holding down the power button. Please help!
Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
