While downloading iOS 6 it will always say ERROR
I freakin hate whats happening while downloading ios6 in my laptop iTunes, it says my internet connection is not workin and yet its already done downloading. it just only the processing file. then after that it says ther it was ERROR. what the. 4 times i tired and yet im out of patience an i have a faster internet. ******* me off.
It is because the servers are too busy because everyone has been trying to update their devices in the past couple of days. It took me 3 tries to successfully update mine, so keep trying. It will eventually work.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some basic steps to try for reinstalling an app:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open.

Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
Delete the app.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.
If the issue persists, then you may want to try and sync the application to your iOS device using your computer by following the information in this article, under the section "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC":

My iphone had an error while download iOS 7, now i have to restore?
Something happened to my 4S while trying to download iOS 7. I recevied an error message, then my phone shut off. After connecting it to iTunes again, I'm being told that I have to restore my phone and I can't get past a screen (on my phone) with a USB cord pointing towards iTunes. Have I lost everything?
So to get out of "recovery mode" I need to go through with the "restore" and then try to bring everything in from my cloud? I'm not tech savy at all and this phone was given to me for work... I'm afraid I'm pretty useless when it comes to technology.

I am getting error 3253 while downloading ios 6.1.3 on my windows 7. I am having version 11.0.2.26 of i-Tunes. I tried downloading manier times but not worth after downloading half of the size i lost my network connection and error -3253 pop up. I also turned off windows firewall but nothing is worth. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, or due to your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try removing the proxy settings, or using a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

Possible, but not 100% sealproof. -1 can happen in a variety of situations, not always jailbroken. It's a baseband error and while the risk of getting that error is higher on a non-factory unlocked device, it can still happen.
Even if OP was jailbroken and removed the jailbreak, it's quite difficult, if not impossible to tell the device has been jailbroken before if restored as brand new.
Take the device to an Apple Store for evaluation. -

Thanks for the question. If you haven't already done so, you may want to update iTunes to v11.1 (released on Sept 18th). After updating iTunes, you can then update your iPhone 5 to iOS 7.
